I'm noticing a similar pattern in a lot of the reviews on here: this place has good food, especially their pork kebab, but the service is not very good. The servers are flat-out rude and show a certain elitism. They are a Russian business with mostly Russian customers, and they tend to not treat non-Russian customers very well. I don't just mean something as simple as a language-barrier; that's totally understandable. I mean treating the non-Russian customers as less important than other patrons. Now that so many similar Russian restaurants have shut down, and places like Tatiana have gone down in food quality, Chateau De Capitaine is the best. We celebrated several occasions at Chateau De Capitaine and the now closed Chateau De Alik. The food is top notch and people know it. On weekends and holidays it's hard to get a table. Make sure you reserve in advance. For appetizers, I would recommend ordering the burrata salad and the seared tuna. I've never had a better one of these anywhere else. For entrees, I would recommend going with seafood. The salt crusted Dorado was spectacular. For dessert, you can't go wrong. I've had the Napolean, Spartak, and sour cherry dumplings (vareniki s vishney). All excellent. In particular, the cherry dumplings are amazing!!! They're not the mass produced dumplings of dough with tiny amounts of watery "cherry" jam that are available in most places. These are obviously hand made dumplings with a lot of whole cherries. They also sell these frozen at Alik's store on the same block. The decor is clearly marine based and it looks beautiful and unique. They have live music at night on weekends and special occasions, but they don't have the space that Tatiana has for performances. The music is loud, so if you want to be able to hold a conversation reserve a table for an earlier time. Also, dress to impress. This is a Russian establishment, so don't expect to find people dressed in jeans and a t-shirt. read more

Hands down the best Espresso Martini and Sea Bass that I have ever had! The food and drinks here were amazing, this restaurant is in my top 5 of all time and I spend more money on food than rent. The Espresso Martini was the best I've had so far and the French Martini was something different and special, better than any other restaurant or bar. We had the Grilled Octopus which so tasty and perfectly cooked, the Oyster Shooter was awesome, The Foie Gras was different from every other restaurant but definitely a favorite, The Sea Bass was the best fish I've had and the Lamb Chops were delicious and cooked to perfection. The restaurant is nice and the staff is super helpful, polite, fun and their suggestions were spot on. I highly recommend this restaurant, they give you a different and probably better version of your favorite dishes, a little pricey but worth it, you have to experience this for yourself. read more

This place makes things very simple - you either like it or you love it. I have come here many times and always leave full, happy (maybe a little drunk as well), and looking forward to my next visit. The staff are friendly and the owners are always around to say hello and treat you like a close friend. Everything we ordered - ceviche, grilled octopus, rolls, lobster salad were extremely fresh and tasty. Kumomoto oysters were the freshest Kumomoto oysters. Main course - grilled dorado, trout and dorado in salt - were awesome. Polenta - out of this world. If you're a lover of seafood then Chateu de Captaine is a must. First off, to even imagine that the place used to be an auto parts store is crazy. The interior is beautiful, very modern and sleek. Wide variety of sushi, shelf fish, ceviches, entrees, etc. Everything is top quality and prepared very well. I would highly recommend sampling the sushi, crab gazpacho and crab legs. If you're in the mood for a little turf, the Wagyu beef is sensational. They bring it out raw and marinated along with a piping hot rock for you to sear it on. Limited dessert choices, only two desserts, Napoleon taste mushy! The server put his finger inside of my mush potato while he holding my dish to serve ! Like a diner service? There were a lady sit outside of the restroom with her bags on a chair and seems not doing anything, but you can see there were few dollars inside of the restroom, to means you should tip something, but not service at all!! My father had his 60the birthday party here. He paid a small fortune for terrible service, bad food and it completely ruined his party. He had been there many times before and it was great. Well not this time. They over booked the restaurant for a Saturday night. When more quests came they didn't have enough chairs!!! A lot can be said about this place and I'll try to just hit on some main points. Food: truly amazing! The chef really knows his stuff. We sampled several cold and hot appetizers and each one was better than the last. Ceviche was a little sweet, but still enjoyable. Make sure to taste the risotto. Service: service was friendly, but slow. Drinks took a very long time to come. Seems to me that this place is more suited for byob than mixed drinks. Ambiance: although the place seems to have invested lots of money into the decor, the modern appearance leaves the place looking a bit cold and without its own character. I only had sushi on my first visit, but am looking forward to trying their cooked menu. This place is a sushi and seafood lover's heaven!!! They smoke their own fish on the premed is as well. Fish quality is some of the best and comparable to any famous restaurant in Manhattan. I loved the Kampachi sushi, Kara Sea roll ( with truffle oil!!) and spicy tuna roll. I appreciate the fact they rely more on high quality ingredients for flavor and are minimal with those nasty Americanized sauces most sushi places use too much of to make up for low quality fish. Place is clean, spacious but the decor looks better at night than during the day. Great for date night. The only reason I am giving 4 stars is because the service could be better, and for an expensive place I expected the staff to be better trained and more professional. Since this is a fancier restaurant, their menu wasn't flowered with sample pictures of the dishes which I am used to. The dishes here are on the expensive side, but their portion are also pretty large! It would also make sense to dress up for this restaurant. So, after we ordered, they started us with some bread with butter on the side. The wait time for the food was reasonable, but if you're on the hungry side, you're bound to get a bit impatient about when the food would come out. The king salmon lox was delicious. Being a salmon lover, and also recently craving lox/smoked salmon, the dish was great. The fried calamari dish was huuge! It is an appetizer dish but it would be enough to fill you! The crab, according to my partner, was well-seasoned and tasted good. In general, good quality food which would fill your bellies. The price, depending on what you order, will become expensive.
