I loved the assorti of the wonderful dishes on the birthday of my mother yesterday - December 19th -- this is five-stars, but if the name is French, then servants must be too French people, rather than my native Russian folk, however I understand, that it's America . One woman-servant asked which khutab I wanted with cheese or meat, I responded both, and then eventually she walked away somewhere, maybe she got offended at me... I don't know what's to say, service is four stars personally for that one, the rest of them were working normally. Four-starred for the strange name of this organization and its service, and five-starred for the excellent food.

This place is amazing. Came here for a birthday party and everything was delicious. Food just kept coming and coming. Service was amazing. It's a great local place and it's great for large parties. Sorry I don't have a menu pic as this was pre-ordered for our party. They had everything from steak, salads, chicken, fish, seafood... Best to come hungry and with a larger party so you could share. It's Russian owned and most of the staff speak Russian. It was a great experience

Been a customer since this restaurant's opening, around 10 years ago. They've redesigned the space from a casual café with a bar to a restaurant with a small dance floor and live music on weekend nights. The portions are tiny, the food quality is great, the prices are Manhattan-upscale-restaurant level. This is not a 'Russian-style' restaurant where you will gorge yourself on huge portions. This restaurant boasts French cuisine, providing opportunities to enjoy your food without leaving stuffed. Prepare to shell out some money for a delicious meal. I've tried everything on the extensive menu, and have not had a bad experience once. The lunch special is a great bargain--a salad, a soup, coffee/tea, water/soda, and an entrée all for $22.95, Monday to Friday, 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM. This is the most bang for your buck that you can get at this restaurant, and walk out feeling full after spending so little compared to regular menu prices. The banquets are on the expensive side. Your four options are: $90, $115, $135, $185. Refer to the menus on the website. Make reservations! On Fridays and Saturdays, you are guaranteed not to find a table without reservations. As tons of traditional, 'Russian-style' restaurants have closed around the area recently, this establishment is one of the few left standing. Expect even longer wait lines.

Chateau De Capitaine is a great European and seafood restaurant in the south of Brooklyn. My family had a great time last night dining and enjoying their live music. We enjoyed the Foie Gras, Fried Calamari, Greek Salad, Sea Bass, Trio Tartar, Stuffed Shrimp, and Lamb Chops. Everything was great and delicious. Service was lovely and we can't wait to come back.

It's been a while since I visited this restaurant and we were just there for a private event. Wow, love the remodel and that there is dance floor and music now! Food is still amazing!!! Definitely my new contender to host bigger events and parties there now.

The best item in the entire order was the Mushroom Gratin (what many Eastern Europeans would simply call mushroom julienne- Mix of mushrooms in a heavy cream sauce and topped with melted cheese). It was cheesy, properly cooked, flavorful, and actually very good. That said, the price increase is absurd. This dish used to cost $15 and now costs $26, which is a 73% jump, while the portion is still only moderate. Good? Yes. Worth $26? That is another question. The Chicken Stroganoff, however, was a complete failure. It looks like the kitchen was trying to put its own "innovative" spin on a classic dish by serving Chicken Stroganoff over a latke -- basically a large potato pancake/hash brown -- and by adding pickles directly into the dish. In theory, that could have been interesting. In reality, it did not work at all. A proper Stroganoff is usually served with mashed potatoes or buckwheat, and pickles, if used at all, should complement the dish, not drag it down. Here, the pickles added nothing because they were the same poor-quality pickles this restaurant sells separately for extra money: thick, tough, bland, and lacking the garlicky, flavorful bite that good Eastern European pickles are supposed to have. The latke itself was also a miss. Instead of being thin, crisp, and well-seasoned like a proper Eastern European potato pancake, it was thick, heavy, and almost completely flavorless. No character, no seasoning, no real potato crispness -- just a large bland base taking up space on the plate. And that is exactly the problem with this dish overall: far too much latke, very little actual Stroganoff. The chicken portion was minimal, the mushrooms in the Stroganoff were bland and underseasoned, and the chicken pieces themselves were chewy, tough, and unpleasant to eat. The sauce was also weak and unmemorable. So what we really received was an oversized, mediocre potato pancake with a very small amount of badly executed Chicken Stroganoff spread over it to make the portion look more substantial than it actually was. I also paid extra $2 for extra pickles, and that was not worth it either. The portion was tiny-1 fat pickle, quality was poor -- thick, tough, and zero flavor. I asked for extra black bread, and "extra" apparently meant 4 pieces. Better than nothing, but hardly generous considering the prices this place now charges. So overall: extremely fast delivery, 1 very good mushroom appetizer, and 1 overpriced main dish that completely failed despite trying to sound creative on paper. At these prices, "innovative" is not enough. The food actually has to taste good. Here, only 1 dish did.

Generally recommended dishes from our banquet: Chalahach, Kutab/Qutab, Lulya Kabob, Sturgeon Kabob…read more Side Note- Review is from a meal from several months ago. Sheep by Barashka (or in other words rather humorously when translated Sheep by Sheep) is an Azerbaijani restaurant (specifically Gorsky) similar to Village Cafe or Baku Palace with the prices on the menu being somewhat in the middle though closer to Baku. Like those spots, you go here and have one of two experiences depending on whether someone speaks Russian/Azeri and whether you're here for a party. It's part of the experience and luckily I was part of the latter. When my part of the group arrived, there were several salads such as an avocado salad with tomato, eggplant salad (basically the same thing as Turkish Soslu patlıcan,) and an Achuchuk salad (tomato and onion based.) There was also herring which was tasty. Soon arriving were some hot appetizers. There were two variations of Kutab/Qutab which is essentially a flatbread either stuffed with meat or with greens with both being outstanding and in my opinion a bit better than the other spots I mentioned. There was also potatoes with mushrooms which was okay (I prefer more of a crisp) as well as Khachapuri or cheese bread which was salty and delicious though perhaps a bit too buttery. The main dishes were the standouts. The sturgeon kabobs were outstanding with very tender flaky fish which paired nicely with the pomegranate molasses/narsharab found commonly in the region as well as another cold sauce which I believe was tomato based. In terms of meat, their specialty is chalahach or in other words baby lamb chops. These were meaty, tender, and some of the best I've ever had. The lulya kabob or ground lamb kebab was also tender and delicious and I would recommend them. The rest of the meat was also good but these were definitely the best. I don't remember having dessert. The food overall here was delicious and I can see why this has become a preference for them. There is apparently live music here but they weren't in that night which I didn't mind as it was easier to talk. Good food (especially the main dishes) and friendly staff. Would go back for another party.

Ended up with grilled sturgeon, which came bare on a plate, not even a leaf of green or anything. Wanted to give 3 stars or even 2, but gave it a second chance. Second visit they had everything and it was delicious. Apart from potato kebab, which ended up being just a puree on a stick. Nothing exciting. Food is really good but quite pricey. Chicken schnitzel so good, vegetables crisp and perfectly grilled, and the vinaigrette on my salad couldn't have been better! But I'm not done. As much as I enjoyed lunch there are things I'd like to point out: ### The lunch special is advertised as four courses. Rather than "courses" they might say "components." First comes soup, then your entree plated with salad and a choice of sides. If the salad was served separately, they could claim three courses. But four is a stretch. ### I ordered the cold borscht listed on the menu. (There are different variations.) They gave me hot. If it wasn't so good -- it really was delicious -- I would have asked them to switch it up. ### Lunch was advertised at $20 but we were charged $19. ($19 is obviously preferable, but numbers should be consistent.) They tack on 18% service plus a credit card up-charge -- which we've come to expect. ### I'd normally order a cold glass or wine. BUT .... with wine almost the same price as lunch, I said "no way!" When the manager, a very nice gentleman, asked how we enjoyed our meals, I suggested serving a specially-priced house wine $8-$10, to go with lunch. Nope. I didn't understand the rationale, but he said it would encourage under-age drinkers. (The only customers i saw were old folks and young families!) Other than neighboring Tatiana, cafes that were here years before are gone. Azure is good. Maybe a smidge short of five stars, but good enough for me to think about a return visit. While I never knew borscht could be prepared hot, I'm now going to seek it out. Give it a try!

The service is lacking, but it is not the waiters' fault. The management and whatever system they have in place is disorganized, leading to being served the wrong food. Basically, one waiter takes your order and a different waiter serves your order. But because there is no effective communication, your order either never arrives or goes to a different table. I think whoever takes the order should also be the one to serve. It's a pity, because hadn't been for the lacking service, I would have stayed longer and ordered more food and drinks. I came with a friend and she loooooves food and drinks. Plus there was live music; all nice...but we just couldnt keep on repeatedly asking for the same thing over and over. We waited 15 minutes to have a coke...just a can of coke, no glass with ice. We asked for plates for our appetizers and that was another feat...it took 20 minutes to get two plates. It might be a northern European thing, because I experienced the same abysmal service in Austria and Germany.

The lulya here, along with the chalahach/lamb chops and especially the sturgeon, are outstanding. The rest of the menu is good also, such as their very tasty kutaba, but go here for the kabobs. I went to this Azeri/Azerbaijani restaurant a while ago with a large party. As per most other spots serving either Central Asian food, Russian food, or food from the surrounding regions, you'll have a different experience if you're with someone who speaks one of a few languages (Russian/something similar and/or the local ones depending on which restaurant of course) as well as if you're in a party or not as there's party platters and stuff to order instead. In terms of service, it was friendly, and the inside was pretty casual. A guy was singing live music eventually, which is pretty normal for these spots. We had a few salads and cold appetizers to begin with. For salads, there was an avocado salad with fresh tomatoes as well as a Greek salad topped with basturma, which were both good. There was also cheese served with tomatoes, as well as an excellent version of eggplant rolls/nigvziani badrijani stuffed with walnuts and spices. The last cold appetizer was a tasty version of soslu patlıcan, a dish of Turkish origin with mashed eggplant, tomatoes, and various other spices. There were also two variants of kutaba, which is a type of stuffed pancake. My preference, as per other times, was the meat version, which had lamb and onions inside and was topped with a generous amount of sumac. It was tender and well-filled, though I think the one at Village Cafe is a little bit better. There was also a good vegetarian version, which was refreshing and nice to eat in between bites of all the richer foods. The big platters came out next, consisting of their specialty, which are the various shashlik/shish kabobs. For this place in particular, the best type of kabob is their ridiculously good sturgeon with generously large pieces of grilled fish served with pomegranate molasses (of course,) along with rice and onions with some sumac on it. It is meaty and tender and perfectly grilled. There was also a large meat platter with very good chalahach/lamb chops, along with very tasty lulya (ground lamb,) chicken, beef, and some liver, which would be for some people a bit undercooked, but I found it to be fine. Other hot dishes included potatoes and mushrooms, along with some fries, which were fine, though I didn't really bother with them anyway, as I was already pretty stuffed. For more home-cooked dishes, I would probably recommend Village Cafe more, as there's more of a selection. However, if you're looking for grilled Central Asian style meats, I haven't found a better spot yet, and I've been to a large number of them, from Azeri spots like this one to Bukharan ones to other places.
