I knew locals liked this place so wanted to give it a try, since it's near our house and I drive by it all the time. So what do I mean by mid level? I'm talking solid 7-8 rated food in a comfortable, simple environment. Authentic. Happy to report everything was a solid 7-8 lol. Nothing amazing but totally satisfying and enjoyable. We all enjoyed our entrees, and we even all drank our soup, which I normally pass on at other spots. Usually it tastes like Lipton soup out of a packet, but theirs is more homemade feeling. And as we all know, any place that serves refried beans with the chips and salsa automatically gets a big bump up. If you know you know.. Add service, view and mariachi vibes... the 3.5 becomes a 4. Glad I was able to finally try this iconic spot in Henderson. Will definitely return in the future when craving some Mexican comfort food.

Staff was epicly friendly and kind. The food came out quickly. One of the members of our party had the Chile Colorado. They said it was not as spicey as it should be. We arrived and were seated immediately. The wait staff was friendly and very good. Food and drinks that we ordered were served very quickly and with good service. That's where this complaint comes from. Even though the food and service was great, we were very surprised that we had not even finished our food and drinks, when the wait staff seemed to be hurrying us to finish even though we had not even been there a full hour and there were several tables available. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. The only thing I wasn't a fan of was one of the salsas--it had a sweet flavor that caught me completely off guard. It just wasn't my preference, especially when I'm expecting a more traditional salsa. Other than that, we really enjoyed our visit. However, the staff was busy bustling to set this large table in the middle of the dining room for a group that wouldn't show up for 10 minutes. They literally had their chips, salsa, water etc. 10 minutes before we did and we weren't even there. When we did get a waitress she was perfunctory and less than friendly. When I told her we were there for my wife's birthday her answer was "oh that's nice". Far cry from "we will make the evening special for you". We got our food which was fine but absolutely nothing. Throughout the meal the waitress spent all of her time chatting with the large group in the middle - obviously her friends or whatever because they got five star service while we were simply ignored. If we wanted to get a refill of a glass of water or in my father-in-law's case, some sour cream, had to literally get up and pull her away from her buddy table to get service. In addition, not a happy birthday, dessert nothing. So much for trusting the manager when she said that she was going to comp the meal or even at the minimum do something to celebrate the birthday. If we went to something as mundane as Applebee's my wife would've got a piece of cheesecake lol. Very disappointed in this place. We love the food but the service is just crap.
