That was the exact reasoning given. This was not about warranty. It was not about saving me money. I was fully prepared to pay for an inspection or any necessary correction. I was simply asking for a professional second opinion. If a shop refuses work because they're concerned a customer might "get upset," that raises serious questions about confidence in their own work. A reputable shop stands behind its skills and diagnoses issues regardless of who previously touched the vehicle. Changing the explanation publicly after the fact does not reflect well. I stand by what I said. I had a very disappointing experience at Automotive Instincts in Northridge. I called and spoke with Steve about looking at my car after another shop had worked on it, and he basically told me they didn't want to touch it because another shop already did the work. His reasoning was that he didn't want me to "get upset at them too." That makes absolutely no sense. As a customer, I'm simply looking for a professional second opinion or proper correction if something wasn't done right. Refusing to even inspect the vehicle just because another shop previously worked on it feels unprofessional and dismissive. Cars get worked on by multiple shops all the time -- that's normal. If I could give zero stars, I would…read more I brought my Bentley to this shop after receiving a quoted estimate of $2,500-$5,000. We confirmed the repair would be $3,700 with a 90-day warranty. After the car was in their possession, they suddenly raised the price to over $8,032-more than double the agreed amount. When I declined, they charged me $800 for diagnostics, despite the fact that I had already received the same diagnosis from the Bentley dealership. Then, on the same day, they notified me that they were imposing a daily storage fee and threatened to lien my vehicle if I didn't pay. I never agreed to any storage fees, nor was I warned in advance. At the time I hadn't even been to the business because the tow took it directly. This was a classic bait-and-switch, followed by coercion tactics and a refusal to release my car. I am filing a lawsuit for unfair business practices, fraud, and conversion. Please think twice before trusting your vehicle--and your money--to this shop. Transparency, honesty, and basic integrity should be non-negotiable in auto repair. Sadly, I found none here.
