Have dined here before but my experience last night was horrid. Sat outdoors and had the worst service. Party of 6. A show was happening on the plaza. My dinner never arrived. I brought it to the food servers attention. Forgot it. Next time I saw her....I brought it to her attention again. Nothing. My wife got up and went inside to track her down. I sat at 7. I'm not sure where these raving reviews came from but it's why I came to try the place. We used to come to Olive Press Eatery and miss it greatly. At first look the outdoor seating was very nice on a beautiful Friday night. We asked for a table and were given a wait time given the packed place but it was awkward where we were supposed to wait. When a table was getting up we were told to go grab the table (3 chairs for 7 ppl) and tried to get our own chairs from different tables until there were enough for us to sit. There was only one gentleman taking orders and he was very irritated with anything and everything. Didn't want to take our drink order and insisted we give him our entire order at once (vs taking appetizer order n coming back to take our meal orders). Then told us to go grab our own drinks from the fridge inside- so we sent the kids in (middle schoolers not rowdy or rude). The food didn't all come at once, my friend got the wrong panini 2 times and my meal was forgotten even after a reminder. We had sent an over cooked burger back and my friend asked for the manager, the waiter replied he was the owner. Didn't seem like it since he wasn't very customer service friendly. I had to walk in and ask again for my friends panini and my pizza. Everyone else had finished their meals and I contemplated just going home and eating something else but I tried to be patient as I know they are fairly new. Not once did we receive an apology for the mistakes or delays. When the kids went in to ask for containers to put their leftovers in, the "owner" ignored them!!! They had to ask a lady who didn't speak English but she was able to help them and gave them containers. Again we sat there waiting for the "owner" to acknowledge us so we can pay. When he came to get the card he started to give an apology and blame it on being short staffed. My friend tried to tell him the best apology was to simply be nice and not as rude as he has been to us- and he snapped back something in a heavy accent we couldn't understand and he dashed away. The food was OK - not the tastiest and not the worst. But I couldn't get over the rudeness and delay. I'm not sure I'll try this place again but it's unfortunate because the location is perfect for a summer evening meal. read more

Highly recommend!! I was visiting New Jersey for a college football game and went searching for a pizza place because where I'm from (Washington, DC), there isn't a lot of good pizza. Ended up at Che Pizza. I was immediately impressed by the ambiance (very hole-in-the-wall Italian vibe) and the service. The owner is lively, fun, and clearly passionate about Italian food. He was extremely helpful giving recommendations from a robust menu of options. I ended up with a slice of pizza with sausage and peppersand the chicken Parmesan sandwich. I had gnocchi and my friend had Cesar salad. Both tasted amazing. I know there's not much to do in Cesar salad but my friend some how felt everything was fresh and tasted great. I love gnocchi but not a lot of places have it. Here not only was it available but it tasted amazing. I loved it. The quantity was also big enough that 2 people could have shared. They also had big selection of pizzas but of course, we did not try. Will be back next time. read more

Clean, bright and playing the World Cup soccer final on delay we were at the Plaza for a town event and walked into Che Pizza. With a full menu of delicious options, we took a look at the yummy pizza offerings first. Hubby had the Square Margarita pizza and I had a slice of veggie. On a slow decline after being uniformly excellent since it opened. Caesar salads are swimming in dressing. Penne arrabbiata sauce is creamy now? The spices in the meatballs don't mesh with Italian fare. Pizza has a different crust and the ratio of toppings has changed. Overall, it just isn't as good. What happened to the chef? read more

First time visiting. I would recommend it. We ordered 4 slices and a pasta. Everything was delicious. The slices were pretty large. I would suggest a veggie option with onions and peppers too. The inside is super chill. When you walk-in you see their large pizza display. More than enough space to dine-in with outdoor seating area. Music was lively- international. The person behind the counter was very nice, friendly and quick to suggest vegan options. Price for total with 2 bottles drinks was approx $40 Felt really taken care of here. Great find. read more

Service is excellent and everyone in the place is friendly so off the bat that's a plus. I've had calamari, chicken parm, napolitano panini, and pizza of course. Calamari was cooked perfectly but lacked some flavor, just a bit of salt but I like salty. Chicken parm was great. To me, a good chicken parm has great bread and their bread on the chicken parm is great! Crunchy but soft and pillowy inside. Panini, not good. Again the bread and fresh ingredients make a good panini. In this case, the bread used was like sandwich bread. Focaccia would have made a wold of difference. Pizza. I love Delucia's so that's what I'm comparing it to. Too soggy and doughy for me but to each his own when it comes to pizza. Sure I'd eat there again but not for a while. Good and prompt service, nice folks and a good local neighborhood spot. read more

The food is good but the service was subpar. I ordered rice balls as an appetizer and meatball parm sub for my entree. My son ordered the gnocchi. My order came out within 20 mins of ordering. The server brought my son his side salad while I was eating my meal. 15 mins past and we flag down the waiter and asked if they forgot my son's order. He disappears into the kitchen and pops out 5 minutes later and says his meal is on it's way. Another 5 minutes past and my son tells the waiter just to prepare his entree "to go". We wait another 10-15 minutes and the owner happens to glance over at our table and inquired if everything is "ok" and respond, "they forgot my son's order". 5 more minutes and my son's order finally comes out. Not once were offered an apology for their screwup. Food is tasty if and when you get it. I will not be returning to dine in, maybe takeout. read more

Thin crust pizza, very good. Tried the arugula pie and chicken parm pie. Both very good and would order again. Entrees look great too. Great new addition to the area. I just came to know about this pizza place as it opened this week. We order two pizzas grandma pie and baked ziti pie. I have been going to Francesco from last 17 years and we wanted to give chance to new place. So the review, The pizza was good but the only issue was it had bit salty and that it the reason for 4 star. We tried the new pizzeria in Metuchen called Che Pizza. Nice place on Pearl Street that used to be the Olive Press Eatery. I went in looking for sicilian slice but they didn't have one so I went with plain for the first time. Very nice slice. No flop on the crust. My wife had a specialty slice and she enjoyed it. They have about a dozen different pies to choose a slice from. We will be back to try their entries from their extensive menu. read more

I'm a long time Metuchenite, lover and critic of pizza. This place is legit. You can tell that they do not cut corners when it comes to ingredients or quality of product. I ate two slices and already feel full, which is ridiculous. Compare that to when you can down an entire Dominos Pizza with no problem. Once again, ingredients are legit, quality is authentic, pizza is well-prepared and tastes delicious. Nice work guys, great addition to Metuchen. read more

If I could give this place 100 stars I would ! First off the place is located in the cutest area of Metuchen. When you finally enter the restaurant it is so cozy and adorable. Amazing pizza! The chicken chipotle pie is my favorite. The buffalo chicken pizza is also pretty good and interesting. It still has a thin layer of tomato sauce which was a first for me. As for sandwiches, the chicken parm with vodka sauce on a garlic knot bun is just perfect. Been pizza dating for the past 6-8 months as my pizzeria for the past decade changed owners and has not been the same. After trying every pizza joint in town- we thought we had a winner. It was near the middle school in town (if you're a townie, you'll know which one). That place was good but not great - but the best at that point. We were about to go on our second date when my wife suggested this place. We tried it and were like "this is what NJ pizza is supposed to be". It had been months since we had it so we savored it. Che catered a lunch for the school I work at. Everything was amazing and they were unbelievably generous with the food they donated. I especially enjoyed the grilled veggies, lexy salad, eggplant parmigiana, and baked ravioli. The pizza and sandwiches were also excellent.
