Third visit to this location, over a span of 8 years (we don't live close, but two kids went to UGA. Friendly service, but generally slow. This time 4 of us were there for about 90 minutes. Food was good. I loved my chicken pot pie. My wife's salmon was very good. My daughter's boyfriend liked his buffalo chicken wraps. My daughter's steak was "good, and done right, but nothing to write home about." So, in general good, but nothing spectacular. Cool and dark. We like to come here after moving a kid in (or out) of college lodgings because it's cool and dark...and honestly because it takes a minute. A good place to cool off. read more

If I could give a lower rating I would! The food is touted as "made fresh in house" but everything I had was bland and tasteless. I ordered the spinach did as an appetizer. It was barely warm and the chips that came with it were like thinly sliced styrofoam. I ordered the bourbon salmon and rice with sides of carrots and broccoli rice casserole. The salmon was drier than desert sand, the casserole was gummy and the carrots (well, even Buggs Bunny wouldn't eat them)! The service was merely adequate. We had a very frustrating dining experience here. We ordered two steaks, and neither was cooked correctly--one was heavily over-seasoned, and the other was severely undercooked to the point of bleeding inside. When they replaced the undercooked steak, they brought out a smaller 6 oz cut instead of the 8 oz we originally ordered.To make matters worse, the ribs we ordered were incredibly fatty and undercooked. The service did not help the situation, as our server rarely checked on us and didn't pay attention when our drinks needed to be refilled. For a scratch kitchen, the execution on both the food and service was completely off during this visit. I have never had a meal that I would complain about at Cheddar's. Everything I have tried over the years has been wonderful, but my all time favorite is their chicken pot pie. Now, why hasn't anyone told me about Cheddar's before this weekend. I've seen them here and there, but only decided to try them out in Athens due to a recommendation from a friend (aka, my wife). They hit me in the mouth first when they dropped these two flaky buttery croissants in my face. I thought there was some kind of weird mashup, but NO indeed they were not. The pastry-like pleasure dough was music in my mouth and the sweet butter was a perfect pair. Caleb, our waiter, was not to be outdone with his excellent service and food/accesory recommendations. He hipped my to a hot honey sauce with my meal that hit all kinds of spots in my throat. The sweet spiciness got my attention ASAPually! We passed by this restaurant many times when going to Athens for appointments. Finally, we decided to try it, and we had an excellent meal and a happy and pleasing experience today. The restaurant looks pretty cozy inside (forgot to take pictures). Our waitress was Jordan and she was very attentive. I had the meatloaf with mashed potatoes and cheese broccoli salad and brown gravy. Hubby had the fried steak with white gravy. Everything was hot and tasty. All off this while still not receiving half off our Food. Decor was modern with dim lighting, space was clean and they were one of the online full service dine in restaurants open past 10pm in Athens They give you a free honey butter croissant which is served warm and is super delicious. I ordered the steak and coconut shrimp. The coconut shrimp was delicious not too much coconut and perfectly fried. The night started out great. We sat down. We got our waiter who seemed like he'd rather be anywhere else than at his job. I caught him on his phone several times instead of helping customers on top of that there were several other employees throughout the lobby and dining areas on their phones right in front of customers when I went to order my food I found out that both gravy's Include pork although only one is marked as containing pork on the menu that is a really big issue coming from someone who is allergic to pork. When I finally ordered my food, me and my partner ordered the same side he got his portion and I got told there was none left. I understand that restaurants run out of food all the time, but I'm sure there was at least 10 minutes that that waiter knew before bringing out the food that I was not going to receive the broccoli and cheese casserole because in any kitchen I've ever been in they always yell out 86 this item when they run out. I went to write a review after paying my bill only to find out they limit the amount of words you can use when you leave a review in restaurant so that's why I'm posting this here. I'm trying to figure out where the "scratch kitchen" part came from. Everything did not taste made from scratch. I had the veggie plate that comes with soup and 5 sides. Great place, the food was great and completely filled me up! The drinks were great too. The interior was beautiful, I loved the fish tank! The waitress was very nice and served us well. It took them an hour to serve our food though. We ordered cheddar bites and they told us 30 minutes later that they were out of cheddar bites. Phoned in my order to be picked up at 7:05 pm. Two steak meals with LOADED baked potatoes & two bowls of soup. Arrived at 0710, had to wait until 7:32 for my food. Baked potatoes were super dry no bacon bits no butter. Soup had NO CHEESE AND NO BACON BITS! Food was cold so I don't understand why I had to wait. I frequent this establishment often but rethinking this due to recent slack in preparation of the meals. Very disappointed. read more

Love Cheddars but this time it was not up to par. They were out of croissants and were not able to get any till the end of our meal. Also the health score rating was not out in plain sight and when we asked about it we were told "we wouldn't die". Arrived at 5:30 on a Sunday evening. We had a larger party but it took almost 25 minutes after they said a 5-10 minute wait. After finally ordering around 6:15 with no greeting from the server and acting like she didn't want to be here. We finally got food at 7:10. Many tables were sat before us even though the arrived later. Overall this was very slow and poor service. Food was average. I always get the same thing the fried chicken because that's always what I want when I'm here not saying anything bad about the rest of the food but that's just what I want. It was our first time at this location and we enjoyed everything about our visit. My little family stopped by for lunch after some strawberry picking and was seated right away. Our waiter was John and he was so awesome! Kind, patient, informed us of the menu, and attentive. He knew how to make a person feel important if you know what I mean. We ordered our meals and my husband got a mixed drink. The Painkiller. It is limited to two per customer and we found out why. Really good and really strong. First, the 30 minute wait for a party of two was quit surprising considering the site said no wait time. It's been since the location first opened since we'd been back. At that time, it was a party of 8 and orders were screwed up and we also ended up with a broken plate in a guest mouth. The comp the entire meal (no choice of course). The service was bad - I made an on-line order to pick up curb side. They never came to my car - I had to go get my order, but worst thing, I stood there for 10 minutes, and no one ever came out. I had to walk back and get someone as they came from the kitchen, then I still had to wait for my order another 7 minutes - yes, I clocked it. I ordered the chicken pot pie - the crust wasn't cook thoroughly; it was gummy. Everything looked watery on the inside of the pot pie. I tried to eat it - I kept biting into gristle from the chicken pieces. Totally inedible. This is not the first time I have been at this location. The food has always been bad and the service.... well - this was the last time. I don't usually write reviews, I just chalk it up as having a bad day on their part, but this time... It has been a while since we gave this place a try. Last time the service was terrible. Tonight (Monday night) we decided to give it a try around 7:00pm. When we pulled in, the parking lot was about half full. Upon walking in, we saw 3 parties waiting to be seated and 4 workers standing conversing at the hostess station. We were told there was a 10-15 minute wait. The restaurant was EMPTY! We turned around and left. If they are that slow when the place is empty, either the service or the food will not be good, or both. Cheddars has lost our business for good. We will spend our money elsewhere. read more

As I walked in, I told my husband I haven't been to a Cheddar's in 4 years. I had high hopes when I sat down. Ambiance: it reminded me of California Dreaming. Even the croissants even though they were larger and not as delicious. Food: I understand this is a chain restaurant but the standards are far below what I was expecting. The spinach dip ($7.99) was served with a giant spoonful of cold sour cream. This made the dip warm instead of the hot I was expecting. The ribeye ($18.99) was tough. We got it in medium and medium rare. Both were tough. The coconut shrimp were mushy. The coconut coating was nice and crispy but the shrimp were just oddly soft. It was $4 to add 5 coconut shrimp to the ribeye. Loaded baked potato contains sour cream, cheese and butter. The grilled lemon pepper fish ($11.99) came out dry and over cooked. The broccoli casserole came out cold and undesirable in every way - taste, temperature and look. The southern green beans were inconsistently cooked - some were nice and tender and some still had hard peas. This entire dinner just reminded me why I have not been to a Cheddar's in so many years. May be a few more years before I'll try again. read more

Absolutely the best veggie plate in town. A salad and 4 veggies for $7.59. Awesome sweet tea also. Update: Best deal in town. A house salad plus 4 veggies for only $8.79. Great service and delicious food. I've never been disappointed here. Just get here early. They fill up fast. read more
