We have been coming to Cheddars for many years.. It has always been an excellent experience until today. We ordered some onions rings and two burgers. We did not mind the waiting time, but it took like 35 minutes to get the appetizers. We finally got our burgers. The meat was tough and dry. We love the food and the prices are low but the service sucks. Any time we've gone we've had to wait for a table even if the place is half filled. Yesterday was no exception. Waited over 15 minutes for a table then waited a while for waiter to take our drink order. Knowing how slow they are we placed our food order at the same time. Didn't get drinks for at least 10 minutes . I finally started timing how long it was taking. Asked the waiter what the problem was. He said it's because he had stations all over. Mostly I saw him standing around doing nothing. Finally got manager involved and we got new waiter. I don't usually expect much from cheddars, but they've always had consistently good sides. I tried the fried fish and coconut shrimp; picked it up curbside and it was pretty good!!! Fish was crunchy, not greasy and most importantly I didn't have to spend 10 min re-crisping in the oven like Ibe been having to do with pretty much EVERY curbside meal that was fried. Went to cheddars at a busy lunch time on a Friday. No wait, food was quick and exactly to my specifications, ranch and honey mustard are wonderful, Mac and cheese is to die for, and the price for my lunch combo with two sides was basically unbeatable for what I got. My server Khari was great as well. He was very friendly and knowledgeable. Checked back often but not too often and got me well taken care of. I got the shrimp and chicken tender combo. The shrimp had a good flavor but the rice had a weird sweetish soy sauce with it, not my thing but had plenty of flavoe. The chicken tenders were perfect. This place is pretty good for a chain restaurant. Waaaay better than Greasi's- I mean Chili's. The food tastes better, is less heart clogging, and is way cheaper. What's not to like?! I can't quit the Napa Chicken Ciabatta. Even though it kind of falls apart, it's SO GOOD. I think every ingredient goes so well together. And they've never just slopped it together, the presentation is always outstanding. Many moons ago I would get the Hawaiian Chicken salad and it was pretty good too. I really love their spinach/artichoke dip. Sometimes it's kinda watery but whatever, spinach! It's not super awesome spinach but it's pretty good. My boyfriend got the grilled talapia and said it was some of the best he's ever had. Wow, pretty impressive for a chain. I have read a few reviews about getting poor service at the bar. That's happened to me too... your best bet at getting good service is at a table or booth. I also really dig how 3 people can eat here for around $25! Cheddars Is more better! So my hubby and I really like Cheddars, they have a delish Monte Cristo (that I can't have anymore) and yummy catfish. I've tried a few items on their menu and it's pretty much all tasty. Except the queso...I mean you can't really criticize them though cause this is Austin the Tex-Mex Capital of the Universe... They have a lot of competition. Kid friendly too, they have books for them to read instead of coloring sheets a nice switch. read more

The dim interior, poor service, lousy food, and general grossness all add to an infernal ambiance one would expect of a dining establishment in Perdition. While aspiring to the heights of retch-worthy cuisine in the nether regions, Cheddar's does occasionally fall short. For example, this reviewer never saw vermin openly crawl around the establishment, although to be fair the Del Monte corn slop laying placidly undisturbed on the ground did have the heart-warming look of frat house vomit. The service at this establishment was so sub-par that they made me wait 30 minutes to be able to ORDER the food not to mention my family and I had to wait 1 1/2 hours to be served the food and they messed up two of the four entrees which took another 20 minutes for them to make the food AGAIN so a total of almost 2 hours before I could even eat my food after a hour long karate ceremony which was exhausting but I do recommend the barb-a-Q as it was excellent other than that after my experience at this restaurant I will not be returning anytime soon. read more

First off I just want to say I love cheddar! I'm a regular. Me and my husband eat here once a week. . Now I'm currently sitting in cheddars and decided to place this review... So when we walked up to the host stand ,we said 2 please. All 3 of the hostest just started at the map having no idea where to sit us.. it took about 5 awkward mins when the manager walked up and told them where to sit . The hostest walks us to the back room and tries to sit us in where the floor was covered in food. I said no it's filthy. He placed us at the next clean table.. I said to my husband realy?! . Then we order our food. My salad came out but we had no silverware. I walked up to to the host stand where 3 hostest, a manager (red hair) and a cook where just steady talking about someone not getting fired. I WAS COMPLETELY IGNORED.. . A waiter saw me standing there and ran over to me and asked how could he help me. He saw how frustrated I was. Told him I just need silverware. He asked where I was sitting and would bring it to me. . . I finally received my silverware took a bite of my salad and my croutons where stale! Then the server came to in form me my croissant I was waiting for came out burnt and ended up on the floor! So frustrated at this point. Then the peach tea I ordered was not sweet at All! So me and my husband waited for our food for an hour! Soo by this point we thought about just leaving... finally we ate our food and left. I was soo frustrated and disappointed. OMG the only thing good about this place was parking. Maybe it was a sign that this was the worst place to go eat if we would have stayed and eaten. The service was absolutely the worst in the world it took it took the waiter 20 minutes to come and see what I wanted to drink. We were unable to be seated because the hostess was very unprofessional and skipped our big party when more than half of us were here. We waited over 45 minutes just to be moved down the waitlist. Not only were we told to wait an extra hour and a half, the hostess began to make comment under her breathe, when we became confused of her process. I ordered chicken fried start, more breaking then steak and served on top of Texas bread, mash potatoes were gummy, no rolls and green beans over cooked. We ask for rolls, cost $2.95 for 3.. I really hate to leave this review due to the fact we really like Cheddars. This time we came in on a Saturday afternoon. gave our drink and food order right away. The drinks came out pretty quick but we waited and waited for our burger and pasta. probably a good 30 mins. When it arrived if was just a bit warmer than room temp. I called for our server and after a few minutes he came by. now we were hungry as it was a busy day for us. We ate as the server went to talk with the manager. when he came back he apologized and said that they could remake the meal. ok so we waited more than 30 minutes had eaten a good portion of the food so told him no. Just didn't know how long it would take. I didn't hardly touch the fries they were cold. The burger was just warm. I would have expected the manager to stop by and at least apologize but no. I assume they couldn't be bothered. we like it here but will think twice before entering again. This isn't the first time I've noticed this but the bar area smells to high heaven. The first time I noticed it, I walked right back out the door and this was several months ago. Apparently the problem still hasn't been fixed because it smelled just as bad as I remember. Having worked in at several bars in my life, it's so easy to recognize it comes from a dirty bar. I've worked at some grungy bars on sixth street without having the bar area smelling that bad. I'm just shocked nobody has addressed it. We ordered 3 dishes: pot roast, meatloaf and chicken tenders. Chicken tenders were not like it used to be, but I think they were still better than the other two dishes. Pot roast with the carrots and mushroom were so salty that I think my blood pressure went through the roof afterward. I didn't order the meatloaf but I did taste a bite of it and that was very disappointing too; They don't seem to know how to use anything but salt in their dishes?? Luckily, those came with mashed potatoes which were surprisingly not salty and balanced the saltiness of the main dishes. Supposedly Short ribs were used for the pot roast but those didn't seems to be short ribs or it must had dried up for sitting in the pot for so long. Take your business elsewhere. I've been to several Cheddar's locations previously and I have left very pleased with the food and service. But this location seems to be lacking in several areas. I ordered their salmon entree, like usual. with rice and broccoli, but when the fish wasn't cooked thoroughly I sent it back to the kitchen. BIG MISTAKE... They must have poured salt all over the plate. When I took a bite, it almost felt like I was biting into fish covered in sand. They ended up refunding me for the meal, but I am very concerned about what goes on in their kitchen behind closed doors. I think I'll stay away from this place and avoid getting sick. Very poor kitchen management it seems. I'm not even sure I'll be able to visit another Cheddar's again after this experience.
