We meet in Cookeville very often. That is the midway point between Knoxville and Nashville, so we meet family and friends in the area often. We ate at Cheddars today. All five of us got the pot pies with salads. We also tried the coconut shrimp. It was great and the dip/sauce was perfect. Everyone of us left with a half of a pot pie. We were way too full to finish eating. We all enjoyed our meals. We like eating here because they have a great selection on their menu. If you can't find something to eat here, you should probably just stay home. I definitely recommend eating here! read more

Wife and I sat at the bar, early afternoon. Busy but not crowded. Amazed that they were actually out of many items (ribs, tilapia, soda, beer on tap, ironically cheddar cheese and some other items). But this was explained right away by our bartender, who was terrific (I forget his name, sorry). He recommended other items, was prompt, very friendly and made for an enjoyable meal. The shrimp platter, baked potato, corn, chicken fried steak, mashed potato and salad were all very good. The drinks were mixed perfectly. Will definitely be back. read more

My boyfriend, his mom and I visited this location on our way back home. The waitress handed me my drink and spilled the cup of soda all over my lap and glass was all over the table and my lap. Waitress apologized and said that she would grab me a rag, but she gave me the soaking wet rag from the table. My boyfriend got a small cut on his arm that started to bleed. I had to walk to bathroom with soaking wet pants that made it look like I used the restroom on myself. The manger came over and sat us at a different booth, but the waitress nor the manager made any effort to fix the situation, and we still had to pay for our meal. Then I got to leave the restaurant with wet pants out into the cold weather. The food was ok, but not worth all of the trouble we went through. Accidents happen and she apologized, but actions speak louder than words and I feel like that wasn't done tonight. read more

Nice chain restaurant that advertises made from scratch cooking. Right off the bat, I liked the interior. Recessed lighting, wood throughout, and a stylish room fan set the atmosphere and give it a little bit more class. The Shepherd's Pie was savory and larger than I expected. It was traditionally made and also had fried onions on top that added a nice flavor accent to the dish. The Chicken Caesar salad was fairly standard although it looked like they added a large size chicken breast. The Chicken Pot Pie was served in the bowl it was baked in and had a nice brown crust. There is a sizeable drink menu and it looks like the prices are fairly reasonable. Service was professional, timely and friendly. If you're on the road near Cookeville and need to eat, there are a bazillion choices but you should definitely consider Cheddars. And I don't even work there. read more

If I could Give less than one star I would. We arrive before closing time to a half empty restaurant and are told it will take 25 to 30 minutes to seat us. The way I see it we were told in no certain way don't eat here. Worst service ever. Avoid this place at all cost! read more

I ordered the Montecristo and it was hot and delicious. My girlfriend ordered the chicken tenders meal was cold. She lost her appetite after that so pretty much the whole meal was ruined. The servers were nice but they need to fix their expediting of the food. read more

We have been coming to this Cheddars for many years and we do understand vivid has placed on businesses. But to ask elderly people to wait outside in 9t degree heat for a table is unreasonable and dangerous. We could wait in the car with the a.c. on but it's not good for the car. We also mentioned that a group of women came in with a small puppy tucked in a large bag, but nothing was done to our knowledge. We stopped in Cookeville, Tenn for a late lunch while we were up here shopping. Now let me say straight up, I am a bit of a burger connoisseur! And I have to say, if the smokehouse cheese burger (switched cheddar for white American cheese) was not the best burger I have ever had... I do not remember having one better!!! All Cheddar's are not created equal or should I say managed equally! The Cheddar's in. Cookeville TN is by far the best one I've ever experienced! Party of 7, seated in 5-10min, hostess was great, Mitchel, our server was amazin, kept our drinks filled, brought extras quickly, and my Hubbys coffee filled which is Tops in his book! Cheddars doesn't advertise, by the look of their parking lot and the wait outside the restaurant, looks like they don't have to. Cheddars is the busiest place on "restaurant row" that's because of their good food, service and low prices. My favorite dishes include the cajan chicken pasta, fish tacos, or buffalo chicken wraps. Instead of fries, I always get the cheesy broccoli casserole. Also don't forget to start your meal with spinach dip, queso or a stack of onion rings. read more

Visiting from Oregon and having a shorter summer we enjoy sitting outside when we eat out. It was nice to see that Cheddar's offers outside seating so we took advantage of that. It was a perfect evening to enjoy a tropical drink like the Painkiller. If you like coconut I recommend the Painkiller. I was worried it would be very sweet but to my surprise it was not. For some that like sweet drinks this my not be sweet enough. I think it had a great combination of ingredients and the toasted coconut around the rim was perfect. I hope to come back and have another one before we leave town. For dinner my husband and I shared the Fried Chicken and Hickory Ribs. We did not realize the fried chicken was only chicken breast. It was good but by making the breast thinner It makes it even that much more dryer then dark meat. We were thinking whole chicken pieces when we ordered. There was a lot of chicken and the breaded seasoning was good. The ribs were tender and fell off the bone when I cut them up. I forgot to say no BBQ sauce. We could not taste any hickory flavor or smoke due to the sauce so they we were really nothing special. I give 5 star to our server just because he wanted to see my ID for the drink. This is, without a doubt, my favorite restaurant in the area of Cookeville. The family went here for lunch, seeing as we were all very hungry. We were sat at Kelsey's area, and she did an incredible job. For an appetizer platter, we had the cheese bites, chicken tenders, and chips & queso. Let me tell you, the cheese bites here are some of the best I've ever had. After a delicious appetizer, we had our main course. My mom had the country fried chicken, my step-dad had the meatloaf, my brother had chicken tenders, and I settled with a plain hamburger. The patty tasted a bit salty, but it was incredible. Nobody had a reason to complain. We had a great time. Another brag on Kelsey, when I changed my mind about what I wanted to drink, she was very kind about it. Amazing service for already amazing food! If you're in the area, I HIGHLY recommend coming to Cheddar's. The prices are great, the food is great, and it deserves every penny. Our first visit was this evening. New to Tennessee, we have made it a point to visit many different restaurants, whole in the wall, chain, buffet and food trucks. This is definitely in line with Claim Jumper back in California. The food was really good. Their hot artichoke dip is southwest style. Excellent!! Their potatoe soup, red beans and rice, ribeye, my husband thought the tilapia and shrimp was amazing, however, he said lemon would have sent that over the top. I had a pecan, chicken salad which was ok. It came with honey mustard, but a champagne raspberry vinaigrette would have made it bomb good. Our waiter, was spot on excellent. We waited for nothing. Thats why he got $25 tip. He was fantastic The bill for all three dinners, a virgin daiquiri and 2 sodas came out to only $75. For us, sticker shock. To start off I have loved Cheddars since we started the moving process here in November 2022. Never once haven't had bad service nor food and have brought people from my hometown that was visiting cause It was one of my favorite restaurants. We came recently and from the get go we wasn't greeted at our table till shortly after I came back from the bathroom, my husband put an appetizer in on the kiosk right away which was only cheese fries, once our order was taken we didn't see our server again until we had our food brought out. At this point we never received the rolls nor our appetizer. When we brought It to our servers attention she was very apologetic brought the rolls and was making sure our appetizer we never received removed off of the bill. We never saw one single manager only our server. As well as nothing but fat on my steak to the point i couldn't really cut my steak, my husband didn't really touch his rice, all around worst service we had ever had there and sadly i chose that for my birthday dinner. Our server was new so nothing against her at all cause we know from experience it's a learning situation. But I don't really care to eat back at this location. read more

Huge portions, fair prices. I walked in tonight right-at 5:00 PM and asked to place a to go order. They accept to-go's at the bar, which was busy but I didn't have to wait more than a couple of minutes. The bartender took my order quickly and was very friendly. The food took maybe 10 minutes. We were offered a soda or water at no charge while we waited. When the food came the bartender walked through everything to make sure it was complete and correct. Prices were average for fast-casual food. We ordered three entrees with sides for around $30. We took our food home and then dug in. I had the country fried steak and good.lord. It was big enough to feed two, easily. Then there were sides - a fresh (and really tasty) salad, and homestyle mashed potatoes with gravy. And of course there's bread - Texas toast with the steak and a fresh croissant with the salad. I managed to eat about half the steak and all of the salad, along with a couple bites of the potatoes. Great food. Great prices. Nice atmosphere. Three components that make this a great place, especially for lunch during the week. If you have an hour lunch, this is one of the best places for a sit down lunch in Cookeville. They have ample seating so there is little to no wait. I mean who wants to spend their lunch time in the lobby of a restaurant rather than at the table. Most dishes cost less than $10 and service is always friendly! Their menu can be hit or miss though. The Shephards Pie is my fave for a hearty selection, for a lighter choice the Buffalo Chicken Wrappers, Monte Cristo sandwich, or one of their burgers is a great choice. Hands down best side dish is Broccoli casserole! Nice aquarium for kids and tons of booths for large groups. They also have a bar. Great food! Great prices! Huge portions! Everything I've eaten here has been good. However, I usually end up going back to my old standby, the chicken pot pie. It is hands down the best chicken pot pie ever! The staff here is friendly as well. We usually sit in the bar area since we end up there during peak times. We did have a time when it took a while to get our food, but we found out it was TTU graduation day. So, it was really busy. The food really does taste like it's made from scratch. Pretty good overall experience, service was attentive and polite. I had the chicken fingers with mashed potatoes and cheesy broccoli. Tim had chicken fried steak with potatoes and red beans and rice. Everything tasted scratch, and for all the fried crap I ate it gave me minimal indigestion. The tenders were really good, juicy well seasoned, maybe just a touch more breading than ideal but still awesome. Everything tasted very good. Cheesy broccoli was more cheese than broccoli and that may be expected down south where cream gravy is a food group. Tim said the fried steak was crisp and substantial. Service was great, and I was pleasantly surprised by the heaping portions of Cajun-inspired pasta dish placed before me. This is a great date place, a great family place, a great place in general.
