Today, the food was not quite right, but the manager, Mike, corrected the problem immediately. My husband and I stopped in for lunch before going to an estimate. We both ordered soup and salad. House salad's with ranch dressing on the side. We both enjoyed our salads. It tasted fresh and clean(as in no wilted lettuce pieces). I had a baked potato soup and he had the tortilla soup. Nothing bland or unsightly for either salads. The croissant if you decide not to get one then you would be missing out big time. The water with lemon the waitress had squeezed the lemon in the water. The price for food was great. I came here at 9:45p after attending Hamilton with my daughter who was in town. A rude hostess Victoria said there was not any seating open because their crew cleaned most of the tables & they were not seating anyone. She didn't give a time on available seating, she merely said the bar is open if u want to sit in there. We went to the bar area & waited over 10-15 minutes. No one came to serve us or even greeted us. We decided to leave & on the way out we noticed that she seated 2 other couples who came in after us in the area that was "supposedly" not available. I inquired why weren't we seated at any of those tables & she said "oh our bus boys cleaned some tables." This type of service is totally unacceptable & we will not eat here again. So while this waitress was busting her butt actually having a job and working below minimum wage relying solely on tips you were in the corner digging through a paper judging her on her past. Kudos. I have been going to Cheddar's since before I can remember because my mom loves their food and drinks, and I can't say I blame her. Although the atmosphere is nothing special, the food itself is definitely worth checking out, especially considering the price. I have tried just about everything on the menu, and I have never been disappointed. Some of my favorites include the Spinach Dip to start, Chicken Caesar Pasta Salad, the Monte Cristo sandwich, or the Chicken Tenders as an entree, and the Cookie Monster for dessert. Incredible food at affordable prices. Not our first time to Cheddar's but this experience reminded me why we love this place so much. Each plate has large portion sizes, and the prices make it worth it. My husband loves the queso appetizer because you can choose to add meat in it. Was so looking forward to trying this restaurant as I had heard their claim to fame was comfort food made from scratch. NOT....., all of the food tasted like poor frozen processed food. We ordered an appetizer spinach and artichoke dip. Dip was Luke warm at best with grease swimming on top and tasted like process cheese dip. The food came out a minute or two after appetizers. My son ordered the buffalo wrap with a side of Mac and cheese. To say my son had less than six bites of his food would be an understatement. It looked nothing like a wrap and looked more like a frozen burrito only much thinner. Looked horrid. I fared a bit better with the chicken pot pie. Even my son was shocked that our server never asked how our food was nor did it seem a surprise to her we barely ate anything as the food was horrible. Another 15 goes by and I ask why we haven't been sat yet. They wrote down my number wrong and didn't bother to come get us and tell us. All they said was "yeah we texted the wrong number and the number texted back saying it was a wrong number" then why didn't they come physically get us then? Ended up waiting another 15 minutes, TOTAL of one hour for a table. Took an additional 10 minutes to get our drinks. We ordered ONE ENTREE for my sister and I to split. Just a wrap and fries, that's it. We sat there for an additional 30 minutes without our food, we had to get up and leave. Told the management and all they said was "uh sorry". I'm giving it 2 stars instead of only 1 because the food is incredible, once they finally get it to you, (correctly I may add). I came here with a party of 9, it took us half an hour to be seated at a table that was meant for 6. After fixing that situation, it took another half hour AFTER ordering to get our salads that went with our plates. And almost a whole hour to get the rest of our food. 3 of the orders were messed up, with one completely missing. One in our party had to wait another 15 minutes to get their food, and it was still undercooked and not how she ordered it. We had it sent back 3 times! Getting our server to our table and having her stay long enough for us to ask for more drinks or anything was practically impossible especially once she delivered the food. She didn't clear any of the dirty or empty plates without them being directly handed to her and asking for them to be taken. While we were there 2 other large parties came in, one was waiting for over an hour, until they brought to the hostesses attention that one of the women was diabetic and needed to eat soon or they were leaving. They were sat near us at an entirely too small booth for their group with two of the men in chairs at the end. The other was a women with 2 large cases of cupcakes who had a reservation apparently, which they had completely ignored/forgotten about. We left as she was arguing with the hostess about getting seated. The food is delicious but so not worth the wait, hassle, and attitude from the servers. This place serves what I consider comfort food so when I'm not feeling great or have had a bad day, this is where I want to go for lunch or dinner. The atmosphere is really nice; there is a large ceiling fan that I have always been fascinated with (like since I was a little kid). The only reason that Cheddar's only gets 3 starts (even though it's a place I go pretty often) is because the service is pretty hit or miss. Sometimes the service is at like an OK level (not even really good or great), but sometimes the service is downright terrible. Nice job Mr Manager. I think Cheddars changed their name to Scratch Kitchen since the last time we visited but the culture is still the same. Whoever is running the show runs a shoddy outfit. The wait time wasn't too bad considering it was graduation night, and they were one of the few restaurants still open after 10 p.m. That's where the good experience stopped. There were about 7-10 other small tables (2-4 people), i went to the bathroom and counted the tables because we waited for our waitress for over 15 minutes to get drinks. Our waitress Shalie P finally came and got our drinks. While we waited for our drinks, another couple was seated and got their drinks and by the time we got our drinks they were getting their food. It took almost as long to get our food, and half of our food was cold. My husband ate over half his meal without a drink bc shalie never came to check on us or came near us until we were done eating and was ready for the check.
