One of the things I enjoy most when it comes to food is a very good chicken tender. I ordered the Boneless Buffalo Tenders. This was in the Starters section, I ordered the fries a la carte. There's also an entree version that comes with fries, green beans & brown gravy. As for the Buffalo Tenders, I couldn't get enough. Bite after bite with the blue cheese, some of the best tenders I've ever had. Completely covered in Buffalo sauce, not dstingy with the sizes of each tender as I ended up being full when I was done. The fries were fresh & lightly salted. They come in a bowl that's suitable to sharing with others. The service was really good & consistent. My cup stayed full of water. The lady on staff always made sure me & the party I was with was ok. There was live music going on during the time I was there & was told that live music takes place on Tuesdays from 6-8pm. Not a bad lunch with business associates. I chose the Fish & Chips and although they were good I would probably pass on because other items on the menu looked like much better. My dining partners chose the fajitas and the burger, both of them said we're very good! Overall it was a good setting for a business lunch! Contacted Baxter's and got ahold of Craig for info on a private party. It worked out very well with no trouble and the staff was super accomodating in whatever we wanted. We had a band, BLUEWAVE and they let them set up where they wanted--basically had it pre-arranged----they've done this before and very good at it. The food was top shelf on apps that were served and done well. They have a well stocked bar and a great place to spend an evening. read more

Baxter's is suffering only from being too big for its location by about three times. Sure, it was a Monday evening but it was rather quiet tonight with only me and five other people while I was there. Bummer because a burger this good deserves a larger crowd. The burger? Solid. Served with smoked cheddar and a honey cured pepper bacon. A good portion of bacon on an eight ounce burger patty (that's a half pound!) with a toasted bun and the usual lettuce, pickles, tomato slices. I opted to sub out the fries for cole slaw (hooray, keto) but forgot to tell my waitress to hold the bun. Sorry to waste it, folks! Warm and friendly service, a nice comfortable place that I could see being a regular joint, and a very inexpensive burger. $6.99 plus the beer? That's a bargain. Arrived only a few minutes after they opened. There were only 4 tables in front of us. Got our drink order taken quickly. Ordered appetizer when they brought the drinks. Appetizer arrived within 5 minutes. Got the chips and queso, wife liked the salsa, wasn't spicy at all. Queso was thick and a little salty but I prefer that to runny and bland. From the time we ordered our food it arrived to the table within 20 minutes. We ordered chicken fajitas with no beans, and the mushroom Swiss (House) burger. They give you the option on burger cook, I always do ground meat well done just my preference. Wife said fajitas were good, I didn't care for the rice, but I don't really care for it anywhere. Burger was HUGE! Half pound burger with whole sautéed mushrooms on top and covered with Swiss. They don't sauce the burger and asked which sauces I would like brought to the table. I added a touch of salt to the burger along with some Mayo. I couldn't finish it, so much burger but so delicious. Ordered a tuxedo cheesecake, it was delicious. Would go perfect with a black coffee or just coffee and a little cream. Anyone staying near the Cox Business Center or visiting people in the Hospital nearby should check it out. read more

This is the most convenient restaurant to the OSU medical center so it was a natural first choice. After a delicious meal by all in my group, it became a no brainer whenever I had the time to return. We chose Baxter's for a rehearsal dinner recently. All of us were from out of town, but it went really well. Craig Baxter is a hands-on owner - he was very helpful that evening, and in selecting the menu beforehand. We were helped that evening by Karen and Kara - both worked very hard for our group of 35 or so, and they were very positive and efficient in their work. As for the food, all was simply excellent - all was brought out fresh, and hot. Our party had dinners with salmon, chicken, chicken cajun pasta, and a burger. By all accounts - all were excellent. Stopped in for a late lunch, early dinner. It really was just... Employees kids running around. Employee on the phone yelling about someone's pick up and drop off. Order lamb at their recommendation w salad. Salad is a pile of iceberg lettuce, a mealy tomato wedge & a plastic cup of "house vinaigrette" was just oil and vinegar with garlic powder(?) Lamb is blue rare instead of med rare--meh--the cuts were good but was so raw. The red onion potato tart was biting under a pile of spinach, at least it was fresh, but it was not season and was mixed w minced garlic, just mixed. The tart was watery, warm--more like cafeteria scalloped potatoes than any tart. My server was fine. It looks like it it may have been quite the place in the late 80s but...not so much now. read more

Revision: We came back for Valentines dinner and had the best lamb chops and filet hands down! And Gluten free! No ill effects, this kitchen knows what they are doing to keep us celiacs safe. The potato tart was amazing as well as the asparagus. You MUST get these lamb chops-- they cook them to the doness your request. I've been to much more expensive places and served rare ones and they didn't even ask if I wanted them more done. And so tender and they even had mint jelly. :) Disclaimer: we go for Monday burger night! 6.99 for a large burger with 2 strips of honey pepper bacon and thick sliced cheddar cheese. Yum! What a deal, it includes a side and if you don't eat fries, no worries, substitutions are not charged. Ok and here is something else: you can get it without the bun and with steamed veggies making it gluten free and "paleo" if you will. I think they must have high standards in the kitchen for gluten free prep because I've never had a reaction here. Now I can't attest to the other food they serve here BUT there is a nice write up in the Tulsa World today. The hubs and I always say we want to come back for some other night and we have yet to do it, but we will! The review in the paper mentioned rack of lamb with mint jelly so I have my sights on that. The drinks are reasonable here. Seems like I pay 7.50 for a Long Island Tea. It's the second oldest restaurant in Downtown Tulsa for a reason and that's because the food is so reliably good. Also, if you are part of IHG hotel group rewards you get points that go toward hotel stays and if you don't have that, you get Yelp cash back. So win/ win/win ya'll. read more

As much as I hate to write a horrible review but this was the WORST service I have ever had. After waiting 20 minutes to even order our drinks, we had to wait another 10-15 to get them. We had to ask the owner for our drinks and he blamed the fact that someone quit on him (we were told that our waitress went into labor, which is hardly quitting). For our alcoholic beverage We had to walk up to the bar to get our own drinks, which had been sitting up there for over 5 minutes Thirty five minutes later we finally got our food, and it was not up to par. I ordered a cheeseburger with pepper jack cheese, it did not come with pepper jack cheese, it had Swiss on there and it was cold, and then when I asked about the cheese the waitress asked me"well how do you like your cheese" very sarcastic... super rude wait staff We watched one table get up to go get their own menus, watched another table get up to go their own silverware, we watched another table go up to the bar to order their drinks... all because he service was horrible Finally after asking twice for the owner (the first time we were told he was super busy), he finally came over and offered nothing... no apologies no comping, nothing! He said they were busy and someone"quit" Then I told him how I felt, I said I was shocked that after seeing that we had been there for two hours, he didn't offer to comp anything... he said I can give you a gift certificate to come back,... ha like I wanted a gift certificate to come back to a horrible restaurant and we are from out of town... he said I was gonna comp it for you... surprisingly we had already paid (perfect timing on his end right?!) I used to come in in the early to mid 90s when this place was hopping. Nearly forgot it existed until a friend asked me to lunch. Was looking forward to going back and I wasn't disappointed. I ordered the fish and chips with coleslaw. The fish was expertly fried and was delicious with malt vinegar, a vital part of any fish and chips experience. The coleslaw on the other hand was not good in my opinion. Had a strange aftertaste. My friend said he liked it so I guess it can't be all bad.
