I was pleasantly surprised with this restaurant! I came here with family visiting from out of town who wanted to try it, and we all agreed it was much better than many other chains such as Applebees or Chilis. The croissants you get are the best part, they are served warm and really delicious! The portion sizes are huge, I ordered the whitefish with a Caesar side salad; I got two very large pieces of fish and a salad so big I had to make sure they brought a side order and not the entree version. My meal was extremely hot, but my parents both got monte cristos and said they tasted very good but only lukewarm. So I'm guessing they prepare some of their more popular dishes in advance and leave them under a heater, but my fish seemed cooked on the spot. I'll return for a change of pace since it was good, but those croissants were really the tipping factor! read more

Cheddars was actually really nice! I was visiting York for a powerlifting meet and stayed at the hotel right next door. I thought Cheddars would just be a random okay place but it was really nice for the area!! We came with a party of 9 with no reservation on a Friday night and were actually seated fairly quick. There were tons of people waiting and the place was full but we were seated right in the middle of the restaurant and the manager came over and was very friendly and attentive. Our food came out pretty quick too and I really enjoyed my salmon and sides! We also got a small complimentary appetizer (which they give everyone) and that was really fresh and delicious as well. Read a lot of bad reviews about Cheddars so was a bit leary about going there for dinner. It wasn't bad. The New Orleans pasta chicken was very salty but thee rest of the dish was ok. Only 5 pieces of shrimp but they were cooked well and the saucE was tasty though heavy handed. The tilapia was reported to be good as was the chicken and mushrooms. We had to ask for one side that was forgotten. The service on a Tuesday night at 5:30 was fast and friendly. For American comfort food it was good. read more

LoL it was actually a shareable we brought some home! I had the Homemade Chicken Pot Pie Scratch-made cream sauce, vegetables, chicken, light flaky crust. Served with a house salad. This was Kentucky Derby night so we were seated immediately in the bar area ( our choice) Greg was our server and he was so accommodating. He brought out honey butter croissants without hesitation. We ordered the Buffalo Beer Battered Shrimp as our appetizer. 6 shrimp covered with a sweet heat Buffalo Sauce. It goes great with Draught Beer! Our Entree was the Buffalo Chicken Wrapper with Fries. Wrapped in a Flour Tortilla (4) Hand breaded tenders, cheddar cheese, cabbage , pickles and ranch. This tortilla has a crispness from the cabbage. I'll never want lettuce again. Then to go , we got my favorite: New Orleans Pasta. Listed under Comfort food, shrimp, chicken, smoked sausage, peppers, onions and penne pasta in a homemade Cajun Alfredo Sauce with Garlic Bread. I visited Cheddar's for the first time on Sunday, July 4th at about 5:30PM with a party of ten. Some other people in the party have been here many times before; however, this was my first visit. I was quite impressed. Our server was excellent and was well equipped to handle our large party. She was constantly checking in on us and making sure everything was great. I ended up having Cheddar's coconut shrimp, and I also shared someone else's Monte Cristo. Both items were excellent. I also had the Presidente Sangria. I thought the prices were reasonable as well. We were visiting family and they selected this place. We did not have to wait on a Friday night at 5 pm, but on the way out, the lobby and parking lot were packed. Our server was nice and seemed comfortable at her job. I opted for the grilled salmon with a side salad and baked potato. My guy got the ribs and shrimp with baked potato. Others got a steak, shrimp Alfredo, and ribs. This used to be our go to place for better chain meal. Well the food is still good and the waitress, Cortney did a great job. But let's talk about cleanliness. There really was none. We got seated and all I saw all over the floors and under the tables was food and filth. Then we get seated they brought us some croissants and side plates. About three dishes down was a plate covered in butter and jelly. Really! We had a nice window seat, with food all over the window blinds. The lobby was packed with people and we were quoted a 35 minute wait for a party of 5. We were seated within that time, but as we walked through, the dining room was half empty with an entire section closed. We sat. And waited. Took forever for our server to come over. He brought croissants. We were ready to order. Took forever to get our drinks, then to get our appetizer, then for salads. A runner brought out 4 of the 5 salads and left. We had no cutlery. We waited. The fifth salad came. Still no cutlery despite having asked 3 different people. Got cutlery, waited for entrees. One was wrong and was never corrected. I am not a fan of chains but we drove 30 minutes out of our way based on our previous Cheddar experiences and this did not disappoint. We arrived late afternoon on a Tuesday and were quickly waited on. We had the chips and salsa appetizer and three entrees with a kids meal. I had chicken fried chicken dinner which was huge with mashed potatoes and corn. It was perfectly cooked. My oldest had a steak which he devoured and was cooked perfectly. My wife enjoyed her fish, and my youngest enjoyed his Mac and cheese. Our waitress was attentive and accessible. Prices are extremely competitive. I only wish there was a Cheddars within 30 miles of my house. While chains often miss the mark, this one doesn't. I'll stop at any Cheddars when the opportunity presents itself. read more
