We didn't have water for most of the meal and when the female server brought water instead of filling them herself she went to the far side of the table and required us to stop eating/conversation and hand her each of our waters. Bar tender doesn't know the drink menu or how to make drinks. The waiter was awkward when he approached the table- he didn't know what to ask. He didn't write down our order and had to come back to the table to ask us again. The food was great but took forever and the place was empty. My girl friends sent back their drinks. Prices are perhaps a touch high but the food is reliably good (their salads are best). At lunch time they can get backed up and very packed so don't go for sit-down unless you have time. Try the Potstickers and the glazed walnut salad :) delicious. My only complaint is that they have been in their new location for over a year and still havent updated their website to the new menu, new address, or even new phone number. Cheesecakes Unlimited is still pretty good, but not quite what it used to be. Sometimes bigger {new location} is not necessarily better. The salads have gotten very expensive, although the portions are very good considering the price. Service is mixed and a bit inconsistent. I do still love the Feta Chicken and the Smoked Salmon salad. Service in the bar is hit and miss - employees should not gather in this location to chit chat by the way. Went here for lunch. We were seated promptly and the service was good. We ordered fettuccine alfredo and salad. I was told that the salad was good. The fettuccine alfredo was not very good. The sauce was so thin that it splashed up in my face as I was eating it. Also, it didn't have much flavor. The chicken in it was also was tasteless. Their food should be really good, but it always falls a bit short. I got halibut tacos today, and there was way more cheese than halibut. Like half of the filling was cheese and I dug through and finally found a piece of halibut the size of my finger. Why is this? Updated menu makes this a great choice for special events if you want really quality meals with EXCEPTIONAL FLAVOR and sides. Are you tired of appetizers out of a can or gallon jug? Are you bored by a 'salad' that's no more than iceberg lettuce, a couple of wrinkly greens two tiny slices of tomatoes and a bottled 'house dressing (with a little squirt added)'? Are you weary of mundane entrees pasta, steak, pork chops - one or two versions of each? Does drizzled chocolate actually MAKE a dessert or is it the dessert itself? And, how about one out of four entrees having to be sent back so one watches three eat and three watch one? How about noisy, busy places, crashing dishes retrieved by someone paid by the decibel? Bottom line: Our definition of a great restaurant is where you can close your eyes and point to anything on the menu and will be thrilled with what is presented. I have been going to this restaurant for years. I have always been told that the minestrone soup was vegetarian, imagine my surprise when I found bacon in the soup that I picked up in my to-go order. I called to inform the server that this was not vegetarian, she was rude and unconcerned with my issue. I asked her to refund the $3 for the soup. After speaking with the owner she stated it was MY responsibility to ask if the soup was vegetarian and since I did not ask this time it was my fault. I told her that I have been coming to this restaurant for some years and therefore I should not have to ask if its vegetarian each and every time. She said again that this was my issue and she would not refund me $3. I personally am a customer service supervisor for an escalation dept. And I know how to treat a customer, especially a loyal customer with an issue. Cheesecake's doesn't care about loyalty and they know nothing about customer services. The server was insulting, rude and attempted to put all of the blame on me for the issue. I will NEVER return to Cheesecakes after this incident, nor will I be ordering our regular business lunches from there anymore. Reviewing my time as a cheesecakes customer, I have realized that they are always rude, unaccommodating and inconsistent. We have been eating there fir about 25 years and have never had anything but great food and service. This is our go to place for visits from friends and relatives. I ordered the turkey pesto panini and my husband ordered the steak. When my food came out I was brought the pesto penne pasta. I told the server this is not what I ordered and he told me I did. I wanted a sandwich and that is what I ordered! He looked at the menu and said it has recently changed and he didn't realize that the pesto panini was it's new name and assumed I said pesto penne. Cheesecakes Unlimited provides some of the pastries at the Barnes and Noble bookshop cafe here in Redding. I had the vanilla cupcake, and it was just commercial tasting with sugary frosting that was gritty and definitely not made with butter as it should be. Definitely do not buy the cannoli at the bookshop cafe, it is atrocious, I threw mine away after one bite. We went into the restaurant once and left because the seat upholstery was dirty and they had crappy pop music playing. read more

Another unsuccessful attempt with this restaurant. Ordered dinner to go. They said pick up in twenty minutes. When we arrived 20 minutes later, we waited another 25 minutes before the food was ready. Finally got the food only to drive home and find a shrimp and pine nut salad with no shrimp and no pine nuts. Just lettuce and onions for $14. This is the last time I will try this place. We had our first and last time at this resturant. Our service was very hit or miss on the night of 2/24. We had to wait to be seated because they were cleaning a table for us. We could clearly see the table from the waiting area and there was no attempt to clean it for at least 5 minutes. Once we were seated, waters and bread came out very quickly and remained refilled throughout the evening. Waitress took awhile to even acknowledge we were there but when she finally did come over we were ready to order. My mom got a side salad with the garlic basil vinaigrette, which was delish. Our food took forever to come out. People who were seated and ordered after us were being served before us. Only 2 of the 5 meals were a success, a burger and a chicken cesar salad. The other 3 were badly over cooked, 2 top sirloins and a kids chicken tender. Both of the top sirloins were ordered med rare and 1 was just under well and 1 was well well done. Now normally I don't say anything, but for that price, they should cook it to proper temperature. They did refired steak to the correct temp, but by that point I was annoyed and ready to go. read more

My husband and I are trying restaurants we haven't tried before. Tonight was the first, and last time we will eat here. First, there is a hostess stand with no hostess in it. We waited several minutes before she actually made it across the restaurant to seat us. We were seated between two other full tables against the wall, in a nearly empty dining room. There is ample seating and only two other tables were occupied. There was live music and is was loud enough to make conversation difficult. There was also a somewhat boisterous group in the balcony section that would make requests of the singer from across the room. I got the impression that they were friends of both the singer and the owner of the restaurant. So much for a quiet dinner for two. The service was bare minimum and slow. Waters where not refilled until after the meal was finished even with my husband's glass sitting on the edge of the table. We were never asked how we liked the food, or if we needed anything, Now for the food. The presentation was well done. Everything looked delicious. Unfortunately, only our eyes got to experience the delicious. My husband's salmon was less than "average" with the mango salsa they put on top overwhelmingly sweet to my husband's palate. I tasted it, and only tasted strong onion and heat. He also found the rice off, and didn't eat much of (and he loves rice). The mixed colored cauliflower was good. I ordered us the calamari so my husband could try it. I was told it was made in house. After having it, I'm not so sure. At any rate, it was very bland, though fried well. My meal was the Oriental Chicken salad. It was gorgeous and generous in size with obvious fresh ingredients. Unfortunately, it did not deliver in flavor. The soy ginger dressing was heavy on soy and very light on anything else. The chicken had no flavor and looked as if it had been boiled. It was obvious that I barely touched it, and again, the waiter didn't ask if everything was ok. He boxed it for me, and I'll see if I can add flavor to it at home. The best parts of the meal were my husband's dinner salad that came with his meal with garlic basil dressing (actually very good) and the bread. For the money we spent and the atmosphere the place promised, we were very disappointed. Came to Cheesecake Unlimited since I heard it had amazing fish n chips. I don't eat seafood so I figured if there fish was good so would the rest of their food. I was wrong so wrong . I ordered a turkey panini sandwich. First off it was so dry .. the dyed mayonnaise they had and had no flavor what so ever ... I'm actual emberessed for them as they tried to give it a name .. (tomatoe aioli) . But worse off the turkey had such a potent taste of lunch meat juice it turned my stomach. Maybe it sits in a watered salt based juice I'm not sure. But I had to go home and get sick from the awful taste. The Swiss cheese had no flavor at all. Only positive experience from the restaurant was the waiter who was very attentive. After reading all bad reviews I shouldn't of tried this place .... should of listened. Oh and to top this all off it's a very expensive place. Your paying top dollor for a pretend 5 star restaurant. Horrible service! I would give zero stars if I could. I used to love this place. :( Not anymore. We just went there tonight for dinner to celebrate my mom's birthday. The server spilled the tray of drinks all over my back drenching me, my jacket and purse and hot coffee on my hand. He apologized, but the rest of the staff just stood around and did nothing. They looked around like they didn't know what to do. So unprofessional. No manager came out to offer an apology. We just left appalled that nothing was done to make the situation better. Went here today for lunch started with the potstickers for a appetizer amazing I had the halibut tacos so yummy my dad had the smoked salmon salad amazing im getting that next time, my partner had a turkey avocado sandwich that was great too.
