Chef June's Dumplings is such a quaint little spot and made for a really relaxed, enjoyable meal. It wasn't busy when we went, which gave it a calm, low key vibe where you can actually sit and take your time. We started with the triple delight pan fried dumplings and these were definitely a highlight. The bottoms had that perfect golden crisp while the tops stayed soft and chewy. Each one was juicy and flavorful, and you could tell they were made fresh. The chicken mini juicy buns were also really good. The wrappers were soft and delicate with a nice burst of broth inside, making them super comforting and easy to keep going back for. The pork belly gua bao was another standout. The bun was soft and fluffy, and the pork belly was tender and savory with a nice balance from the toppings. It was simple but really well executed. For noodles, we had the beef shank noodle soup with both beef shank and braised beef, and this dish was packed with protein. The meat was tender and flavorful, and the broth had a rich, savory depth that made it feel really hearty without being too heavy. We also tried the biang biang noodles. On their own, they were a little mild in flavor, but once we added some of the seasonings from the table like chili oil and sauces, it really brought the dish to life. I actually appreciated that you can customize it to your taste since they give you plenty of options. We got bubble tea as well, which was just okay. The flavor was good, but the boba itself wasn't as chewy as I usually like. Overall, everything felt fresh, portions were generous, and the pricing was very reasonable for what you get. The cozy atmosphere and variety on the menu make it a great spot to come back to and try more. Definitely a solid go to if you're in the area and craving dumplings and noodles.

We were heading to another dumpling house in the area when we passed by Chef June's. We commented that the other place didn't have much seating, so we decided to try Chef June's instead. There were plenty of tables available in what appeared to be a typical asian restaurant. The food did not disappoint. Both the noodle soup and dumplings were great. I look forward to returning.

I HIGHLY recommend this place. We live in a place where you can't get good Chinese dumplings and so every time we go to chicago, we tried to find a place where we can get some. I think we have found our new go to. The service was excellent,

The place was clean and plenty of lot parking. Staff kind and service quick. I liked the option of homemade dumpling and noodles. The ambiance is standard decent music playlist . I ordered chicken dumplings pan fried. The fry on dumpling was nice. The dumpling was a little thicker than I expected but okay as the chicken lacked flavor or maybe a pinch of salt. I also ordered Schezaun beef noodle with beef shank. It was pretty good but I tried to add some chilli oil to it and it didn't add flavor just a little more heat. I would have liked a bit of salt or garlic in it but otherwise it was cool. Again, fresh noodle versus instant is always ideal. As a person who loves dumplings I would return for that and try another dish.

Went here to try out the local dumplings But were very very disappointed in the food taste. The dumplings had such a thick wrapper that it was almost like impossible to bite and then it lacked seasoning! The noodles had very weird taste I won't recommend at all.

We were in the mood for some Chinese food, but wanted to try something different from our usual places. I'm glad I listened to my friend and friend Chef Junes. The place is small, but well kept. There were two people cooking in the kitchen and one young lady waiting tables. Service was quick and efficient, and the food was great! We all love the salt and pepper pork chop, so much flavor and great texture! My daughters loved the cold noodles too. We'll be back again soon, it was all very yummy!

My husband and I had lunch at Chef June's recently, and the food was AMAZING! We had two kinds of Gua bao (pork belly is definitely the winner), I had mapo tofu with meat with steamed rice (from the lunch menu) and my husband has tonkotsu ramen. They were all delicious, so we finished everything - not even a drop of soup or grain of rice were left on our plates! The service was fast and friendly. It's a cozy place but plenty of tables. We'll definitely come back! Note: The business hours on Yelp is wrong. I already contacted them with the photo, so hopefully they'll correct it soon. We were in the area too early (or so we thought) and killed some time making errands until 11:30 am but they were already opened at 11 am.

Great dumplings, doesn't seem to get as much "press" but I'd say it's just as good if not better than some other places. The soup dumplings are sublime, everything was delicious and not as salty. Service is a bit slow, so be prepared to just take your time, enjoy your company and the food.

Authentic soup dumplings in the Burbs. I was recommended the tomato and eggs dish by the owner and it was delicious.

Very happy with our order. Mongolian beef and chicken curry were the best items we ordered. Pot stickers were also nice.

Have been here several times. Food has always been great! They do need a better ventilation system. Food is worth it though.

There are a variety of dishes to choose from 4 different vendors on the first floor. I enjoy coming here every so often to treat myself and my family to authentic dishes that are hard to find elsewhere, particularly stinky tofu, ba wan (Taiwanese meatball), oyster omelet, and pig blood soup. It is a food court. You are expected to return the tray and empty dishes back to designated areas. Although not required, I've never seen anyone do otherwise. The bathrooms are small and could use additional lighting in my opinion. Parking, you asked? Yes, there is a large parking lot. It is easily accessed from Route 83 (Kingery Hwy) or Ogden Avenue. On this particular visit, 988 Oriental Food House was closed. Reopening date is May 30, 2023.

Unfortunately my wife is vegetarian and the seafood roll included fish eggs, so that obviously doesn't work. I called the restaurant to ask if the order could be remade and simply packaged separately. At first I was told no, and after speaking with the manager it turned into an unnecessarily difficult conversation before they finally agreed to remake it. What was most disappointing wasn't the initial mistake -- those happen -- but the attitude and unwillingness to correct something that was such a simple fix. As someone who works in the hospitality industry, I strongly believe that taking care of your guests and making things right should always come first. Losing a loyal customer over the cost of a few sushi rolls simply doesn't make sense. Restaurants, especially those serving seafood and shellfish, should be mindful that many guests have dietary restrictions, allergies, or lifestyle choices like vegetarian or vegan diets. Unless it's clearly stated otherwise, customers should be able to expect that separate items will be packaged separately. Unfortunately this experience has made me reconsider supporting a place I've visited and recommended many times before in Downers Grove. Hoping this is something they reflect on for the future.
