We order from here at least once a month. Their food is always very fresh and reasonably priced. Tried the General Tso last time and it was very good. Not spicy though, so I will be asking them to make it hotter next time. Delivery is super quick, they say 45, but it's normally 30. Never been to the location, so I'm not sure if you can eat in. Absolutely the best American-style Chinese food in the Tampa area. Maybe on the East Coast but I cannot say for sure. Real ingredients (think chunks of chicken instead of the stringy, shredded type you find at most places) carefully prepared with a deep knowledge of not only the product, but also of customer's expectations with Americanized Chinese food. You'll find all the staples: General Tso, Chicken Fingers, Crab Rangoons - Chef Li has it all. This is the closest It gets to NYC Chinese take out. The food is phenomenal for take out. The chicken is always fresh and they always nail the order for delivery. My wife and I have become weekly regulars since we've moved to west chase. This is my new favorite place to order Chinese food. Everything tastes very fresh and made from scratch. We've order several dishes that you would get from traditional Chinese delivery and they were very good. They have a specials menu with more extravagant food but haven't tried any yet. As a Chinese American mixed family, we have been ordering from Chef Li for 3 years.. recently they started delivering the wrong food, shorting the order of food that I paid for...and the last 2 times refusing to put the standard amount of rice in with the order. When you're looking for good Chinese take-out, this is the place. Ordered Singapore Mei Fun, Moo Shu Pork and Hunan Chicken. Of the three dishes I tried, the only thing I was slightly disappointed in was the Hunan chicken. While the chicken was all white meat and very moist, I requested it be spicy and it was not quite spicy enough for me. The mei fun had great curry flavor, the protein was not overcooked and the vegetables still had a bit of crunch to them. The moo shu was packed with meat and flavor. It was not cabbage with a little pork, but just the opposite. The restaurant did look clean but I could not see into the kitchen....but, hey, I used to eat street meat in NYC! LOL read more

The selections are always fresh and delicious tasting. Have eaten at the location a few times, but mostly do take out. Staff is helpful and friendly. I have gone to Chef Li two times and been happy, but not impressed. I have ordered their shrimp and broccoli and the chicken and broccoli. Each time, the vegetables did not taste fresh and the brown sauce tasted very bland. Don't believe the hype. Chef Li came highly recommended from a friend. So I drove out of my way to give them a shot. Was very disappointed. Had the general tso lunch special. Asked for HOT no spice at all. Wanted no pork in my fried rice and they said they had to charge me more!! No substitutions. Portion was very small. I usually get two meals out of a lunch special at other Chinese restaurants. Not with Chef Li. I wouldn't have minded the smaller portions if it tasted good. Chef Li was recommended to us over a year ago. We have been regular customers ever since. Every dish we order is made fresh--even the soups--so no soggy veggies or flavorless foods here. Plus it is family owened and the people are very nice. It's a small place, concentrating on take out, but we come a long distance and always eat there. Sometimes they give us a free soup or drink because we come so far. But it's well worth the trip. For a NYer this is the best Chinese food you will find in the Clearwater area. read more

Decided to try Chef Li after reading reviews and i did not want to drive to China Yuan in the rain - China Yuan being my benchmark for great Chinese food in Tampa. Quaint place however decided on take out. The food is definitely a step above my local take out place, China on Racetrack Road, but not up to par with China Yuan or Yummy House. The food was fresh and tasted OK. Pan fried Dumplings - soggy/greasy and the meat stuffing was hard. Nothing compared to CY. House Special fried rice - it tasted good, generous amount of pork, shrimp and chicken, skimpy on the veggies. Shrimp w Lobster Sauce - very clean flavor. Shrimp was fresh but not a lot of it in the dish. Szechuan beef - lots of veggies, beef and sauce - good flavor with a nice kick. Ta-Cheng Chicken - lightly battered and in a sweet sauce - this was the least favorite dish due to it being too sweet. Beef Chow Fun - server said they made their own noodles which got me interested. The noodles were tender and texture was great. It absorbed the flavors of the dish nicely. This was definitely good. Overall Chef Li is a better than good option for Chinese food in the area, just not up to par with China Yuan or Yummy House. read more

They are really pleasant people on the phone. I just had a conversation with the lady who answered about MSG and how we both try to avoid it. I love the food from Chef Li, I am so glad to have a great chinese delivery place around me. Their egg rolls are delicious - a little dry but great. Veggie Lo Mein is awesome - my husband loves it. Their orange chicken and general tso chicken is great. The burbon chicken was a little salty. I am not a huge fan of their pork fried rice but its great that it does not cost extra to get fried rice with your combo. I am sure if I ordered an actual chicken fried rice dish it would be a little better than the pork (more fresh really). read more

This is hands down the absolute best Chinese take out I've ever had, anywhere. Their chicken is ACTUAL chicken. It's not that spongy weird meat you get in the mall. They take real chicken breasts and cook them accordingly. I had the soft shell crab last week and it was phenomenal. I took a huge risk ordering crab from a Chinese take out restaurant, but it's other reviews convinced me. Now I'm about to order it again. It was cook perfectly. The crab rangoon are thick and packed with plenty of delicious crab mix. I am so happy I've found a legit take out place that delivers close to me. Never been inside, but dont need to since they deliver. Highly recommend this place if you want some very tasty Chinese food. Oh yeah, don't pass on the Chinese donuts. This place is awesome! In my 23 years of living all over the United States, I have never tasted take-out Chinese food like this. We ordered the sesame chicken combo with a small plain lo-mein, small sweet and sour chicken, and small beef and broccoli. All of it was incredibly fresh and for the first, our family of four had nothing left over. Nothing. That has never happened before. Worth every penny.
