Overall, a great place to meet friends for dinner. This place gets super crowded during happy hour, and it makes sense because they're happy hour is fantastic. However, be warned that if you come even slightly after happy hour, which is about 7 PM that it may be very hard to find a table. The restaurant is quite large, so it is impressive how busy they are. I don't know when they started doing this, but now you can park on the grass in front of the restaurant so it makes parking a lot easier. You don't have to be worried about finding a parking spot in their lot. I got a Yoshi roll and a salmon skin hand roll. Both were pretty good. I wouldn't say this is the best sushi ever, but it is solid and pretty much the only option in this area. The lychee martini is sweet, so if you like your drink sweet, this is for you. I tried the lavender margarita after, which was delicious and had a good taste of lavender. They were a good combination since I don't think I overly loved either, but I liked both. They do have a huge opening to outside and a large outdoor eating space. So if you're prone to mosquitoes, you may want to spray yourself just in case you end up sitting outside or near the outside area. They also have quite a few TVs and a large bar. This place used to be so good but food has gone seriously down in quality. Sushi and sushi bowls were all very bland. Had a volcano roll and rainbow roll which all tasted bland. We also had a sushi bowl with either salmon or tuna. We chose salmon and asked if they could do half tuna, half salmon. We were told no and would have to order an additional full side order of tuna. When it came, it didn't have much seaweed salad so asked if we could have a little more and again told no, we had to order a full seaweed side for an additional $11. Seriously? Bowl was just like the sushi. A bunch a mayonnaise but not much sauce and all tasted bland. They even took away their rewards program. Atmosphere is starting to feel more like a sports bar than a sushi place. The lobster roll was amazing and the only good thing left. Too bad because we live a mile away in Nine Eagles but will only go back for the lobster roll. I use to go there every week, but last few weeks have been so bad, for the price, there are better options a few minutes away. read more

Came here for a takeout lunch. I got the eel roll and the California roll with miso soup. I loved the soup. The big chunks of tofu are my favorite. The sushi rolls were average. They fall apart easily and the rice was not the best but it was a good lunch deal. I also got the noodle dish and it was very bland. I love the amount of veggies I got in the bowl but I wish it had more flavor and spice. Overall, this is a very average place and I'm not sure if I'll be back. read more

I recently had sushi from here for the first time the other day that I ordered from Uber Eats and I was pleasantly surprised when it was so delicious. It really hit the spot as I was craving sushi and have never tried this spot so decided to give it a go but after trying it I definitely need to go again and try it fresh. We hadn't been back to Sushi Alive in several years since we tend to rotate between a few other go-to sushi spots. Recently, we decided to get together with some longtime friends, and one of them suggested Sushi Alive--so we gave it another try. We were a group of nine and arrived around 5:00 p.m. From the moment we walked in, we were warmly welcomed and taken great care of all evening. Nancy--affectionately known as "Beautiful Nancy"--was our server, and she did an outstanding job. The food came out efficiently, everything was well-timed, and she handled a complicated four-way split check without missing a beat. I was honestly surprised at how good the food was. We ordered the sushi and sashimi entrée along with a salmon and cream cheese roll--everything was fresh and delicious. We also had the spicy seafood soup, which brought back memories from when Sushi Alive was located in Northdale, and it was just as good as I remembered. I even snagged a taste of the calamari appetizer, which was excellent. Big thanks to Nancy for making it such an enjoyable evening. Very nice atmosphere with a busy Nuevo vibe! The menu was expansive & offered lot more than sushi. However we stuck to the rolls and sashimi, and really were impressed with our selections. The happy hour options were a great deal of the traditional rolls like Japanese Bagel Roll, Mexican Roll, etc. We also ordered a few rolls from the signature roll menu. My favorite was the Yoshi Roll which was the perfect mix of tempura & salmon with thinly sliced lemon. The Bang Bang roll was yummy too. Also of note was the delicious miso soup. Our server was a doll & more than pleasant but service was extremely slow. Took over an hour to get our rolls. Not sure if the fault lied with our server or the chefs but the wait was excessive. When I order Togo, nobody typically acknowledges you, workers will look at you quickly but won't say anything. There's a sign that says WAIT here for to go orders to be helped but I'm typically waiting at least 5 minutes just standing there without anyone offering to help. This is most times I order to go and I hope maybe they keep someone on the other side to see or that coworkers can help one another out and say hey there's someone waiting. My all time favorite place for happy hour sushi! You just can't beat their prices (and quality for the price) at about $5 per roll. Our go to HH order is usually: Tampa, Florida, Philadelphia, Mexican, spicy tuna, and the tempura salmon rolls. For apps the stuffed mushrooms are amazing but this time we tried the tnt mussels and they did not disappoint. I also typically order the lollipop roll but this time my friend ordered the scorpion roll and it was amazing! Definitely better than the volcano fyi. They also have bogo wine and beer during HH, but you have to wait until after 8pm for the sake to be bogo. Service is always pretty decent consisting of mainly a younger waitstaff. The noise level is pretty loud but much to be expected with the dining room being a large open space. For a quieter dinner I would suggest sitting outside, and if it happens to be chili out you can always catch me at the fire pit! Great place. read more

I sat at the bar where Ashlee greeted me promptly and made me a spicy bloody Mary. She informed me was happy hour, and several drinks were $5 and under including my Bloody Mary! They also had a happy hour sushi on the weekends $5 rolls. This was definitely a bargain. I started my meal ordering the Arizona roll and the Florida roll. They were both fantastic. I preferred the Arizona over the Florida midway through my meal. I also ordered the Eel and spicy tuna. If I had to pick the eel is definitely my favorite. I have never found this much sushi for only $20 bucks! You need to come check this place out. Definitely check out the outside patio with beautiful statues and waterfalls. I come here quite often for their 5-7 happy hour sushi prices. Although I wouldn't say they're top of the line sushi, I still enjoy almost everything I order. Drinks are also flavorful and have good options to choose from. The first couple times I came here, they would mess up usually at least one roll per table, but so far the past few times they've been very consistent in getting orders out correctly and in a timely fashion. I love sushi alive, and I've been going there for years. So much though that my parents bought me a gift card for my birthday. I wanted to go there on my birthday and when the bill came, I tried to use the gift card. At first I was told it wasn't invalid and then the manager came out and after spending about 30 minutes in the back, she told me it was for online only. I asked if it could be converted to a regular gift card and evidently she asked the owners and they refused. Buyer beware especially in the holiday season do not buy gift cards as they are not valid in the restaurant. Thanks for a crappy birthday. read more

The fish was fresh and the sushi pieces were of a good size with a good balance between rice and fish. Some places, they have way too much rice, but this place is pretty balanced. Gabi was our server and she was so sweet and super helpful with providing recommendations. We got 3 rolls, a bunch of nigiri and a hand roll. All of the sushi was fresh! We were so impressed. Damn! we really want to like this place. A couple years ago we got sick and swore off the place. Went back again and for 4-5 visits, it was great. Like the atmosphere, bartenders, and other than sushi items. Sunday night, the fish was spit it out bad. Nothing to get sick with - thank goodness - just that near slimy its getting old state.
