First time trying this place, it was really good. The portions are really big, I had the shrimp pad Thai and I loved it; it had like a reddish color to it which is the only thing that was weird but it was delicious. My husband had the orange chicken, fried rice and lomein he loved it all, he said the orange chicken was the best one he's ever had. My kids had orange chicken and lo mein and they loved it all!! First time eating here. Food was mediocre. Fried rice was more like burnt rice. Wontons were just fried dough, no filling. Didn't think it could get much worse until eating the broccoli and found a bug larvae on it. Absolutely disgusting. Will never be eating here again. read more

Have ordered here a few times just this month! I'm addicted. I've picked up & had delivered. The food has been so on point, I just about inhale it. They're quick & even tho I'm a pretty decent drive from the restaurant, food is always hot & fresh! My favorite so far is the moo gu kai pan, beef & snow peas & def the pork fried rice. The hubby & kids prefer the orange chicken. Pics are the pork fried rice & beef w/ broccoli from tonight's order! (1/2 gone already.....mmmmmm!!!!) Tonight, the delivery driver (such a sweet guy!!), ran back to his car and grabbed a Santa hat & a little headband thing w/ bouncy snowmen when he saw my little one at the door. Update: I decided to give chef panda a second try and it's been good. I've ordered 3 more times since this incident and the food was good. In addition, the delivery people have been fun and excited to be at work. I have changed the review from 2 to 4 stars. Also, the delivery times have dramatically decreased - awesome to see!!! Keep it up! ------------- Just ordered from chef panda for the first time. I initially ordered delivery but was told it would take 75 minutes. I understand it was 630pm on a Friday, so I decided I would do pickup instead. When I arrived my order was ready and bagged up, I asked if all the sauces were there and they said yes. I ordered general tso chicken and orange chicken for my wife. Upon getting home, the order was almost right... except my orange chicken. It didn't have any sauce on it and appears to be the same chicken used for sweet and sour chicken. I called and spoke to a girl who said that is how it's supposed to be for them (I've never seen orange chicken this way). However, there was no sauce in the bag which they told me there was. When I asked what thery are going to do about it I was told that I can drive back to them to get sauce, otherwise there was nothing they could do. This poor customer service just left a horrible first impression. They do delivery and could have offered to bring it out to fix the issue they created. Im let down and frustrated that my wife's meal is now tasteless chicken without any sauce (aka she now gets general tsos which makes me even more mad.... ha!). Wow, great bang for your buck! A few coworkers wanted to get Chinese for lunch and we decided to try out chef Panda. We reviewed the menu and saw that the lunch special was a good option so we called in our order. Arriving at the restaurant, a friendly staff (or owner?) was handing out Santa hats as a free promo. Keep in mind, lunch hour seems to be a busy time for them because that phone was ringing off the hook the entire time I was there! And even though I called in my order, I still had to wait a little for it to be prepared! It wasn't too bad though. Now onto the food! I decided on the beef and broccoli and it was yum! There was a good beef to broccoli ratio and the sauce was delicious! I enjoyed the fried spring roll that came with the lunch special too and for under $8, I had enough leftover for dinner too! This is good fast Chinese food. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. They seem to have a new pretty girl taking orders every week but these sly old dogs know what they are doing in hiring cute girls to take orders. They aren't always the sharpest knives in the drawer but they are nice to look at. Probably the best part about this place is that they will deliver to Desert Oasis rich is over 10 miles away! Upon entering this hole in the wall I was sketchy seeing a pretty little Latina girl sitting on her phone next to the register. Once I walked up to the counter she got up and went to the register. They had all the basic choices on their menu. No surprises! I ordered the General STO's chicken and crab wontons. My mom got the house fried rice. Now moms is SUPER picky with her food. Let me preface this by saying I am not a Chinese food lover nor am I one to give out five stars frivolously But this restaurant really got my wontons rolling! We had the coconut curry chicken, beef broccoli, and garlic shrimp! All were good. The coconut curry chicken was just spicy enough you could taste the curry and the coconut, and the chicken was very tender. The beef broccoli was spiced just right, this sauce was perfectly sautéed with the vegetables and the beef, it had a nice variety of vegetables. The garlic shrimp was so good that it was gone very quickly and there was no leftovers on this one! We had leftovers the next day for dinner and it was even better than the night before! I tried this restaurant for the first time tonight. My family got a variety of dishes: orange chicken, panda chicken, sesame chicken & potstickers. We shared all of the dishes between us, so we could get a good sampling of what the restaurant had to offer. The portions were certainly large, but the quality of the food was questionable. Too me it was overly fried with more breading than meat and the sauces had a strange flavor that I was not expecting. The potstickers were actually inedible, I threw them away. The best of the dishes we got was the sesame chicken. If I had to eat there again, I'd get that (but I won't be back). Surprise, AZ is lacking in good restaurants, and to me this food is subpar even for Surprise. read more

Today's the day I finally got a chance to try Chef Panda. I've been hearing wonderful things from so many. I went in about 4pm today and was helped right away. I just missed the lunch specials that end at 3pm. Bummer, but there's always next time. I put in a to go order of orange chicken, fried rice, egg rolls, and a kids teriyaki chicken. The kids meal states it comes with fries but I adjusted it for rice as well. I was so surprised when I got my food in less than 10 minutes with how busy they were. I have heard delivery has taken quite a while so that's another reason I came in to order. The location was clean and quite a few tables if you wanted to eat inside. When I got home and opened it everything looks so good. I quickly realized my sauce for my orange chicken was missing and was disappointed, but I had plenty of the teriyaki sauce so I made due and it was still so good. One of my kids even loved it plain with the rice. Besides the mishap with the no sauce, it was a pleasant experience and I know now why everyone raves about this little spot on Surprise. I had to go a little out of my way to pick up my order here, I saw there was a 3% service charge and when I was picking up my order there was also a .79 cent charge for not using cash. Humm I picked your location out of many other options and you are going to penalize me for not using cash? You just lost a customer. It's not the money just principle. Ordered delivery today to watch Tenn/KC NFL playoffs. I ordered Salt and pepper shrimp, beef w/ snow peas and twice cooked pork. The shrimp was breaded a little heavier than I'd prefer, but arrived hot and relatively crisp. The pork was also breaded and with the sauce, not so crisp. It really wasn't what I expected and while far from nasty, I can't recommend and am not likely to order again. The best w/snow peas was the truest to what I expected with the pea pods still crisp and the meat flavorful and tender. I did pay to upgrade to fried rice and unfortunately didn't receive that, however the delivery was faster than quoted and the food better than average. I am likely to order again though with different menu choices. read more

Finally after moving to the Surprise area a decent Chinese meal. We have tried many different Chinese restaurants but they were all sooooo bland. First try at Chef Panda they hit a home run. The Mongolian beef was perfect , tender beef with great flavor. Also got the KungPow Chicken but were not sure how hot we wanted. The heat to the palette was perfect. This is not you Chow Mein meal but a tasty flavorful meal. I recommend giving them a try if you are interested in Chinese food with a kick and great flavor. read more

Heard of this place on one of the Surprise FB pages I follow. We hadn't really found our "go-to" Chinese spot. Stopped by to check out the menu and order take out after work. Everyone was very nice & friendly. They even gave my son a little toy while we waited. Place was clean & food was ready pretty quickly. We LOVED the food. Great flavor & not too greasy! Ok so we ordered beef fried rice for takeout,when my wife got home withe the grub, we opened it up, and the meat was rare and grey looking. Tried it out, I'm not afraid. Couldn't do it, extremely mushy, slimy texture and horrible tasting. I'm a former marine and I've had to injest some nasty stuff in my lifetime, but this was well, inedible. We called to complain, and the rude gal on the phone said that's how we make it. We told them we'd return the food and would like a refund. She said bring it back and we'll give you your money back. Ok fair enough. When arriving back the restaurant, there was no apology, and a refusal for a efund. SO now its a matter of principle. Stating we wouldn't leave until we were refunded our money. I mean really just do the right thing. The gal working the counter then CALLED THE POLICE. In an attempt to deescalate the situation, we waited outside for the Surprise police dept to show up....are you kidding me??? When the police arrived they were briefed on the situation, went inside and the gal working insisted on them charging my wife with disturbing the peace. Wow is all I can say. Good news is we got our money back after the police informed her they were legally obligated to do so. I'm a business owner, and to treat anyone that way is inconceivable. We ordered delivery last night and as usual were given outstanding service by the owner! Every time we order the service is amazing but tonight he blew it out of the water. We ordered vegetable egg foo young, general Tso's and mooshu chicken. The owner advised my husband that the chef was testing out a new hoisin sauce and to call him right away if it was not to our liking and he would make it right. It was 9:30pm when he delivered the food, they close at 9pm. We dug into the food and everything was fresh, hot and delicious made exactly as requested from our online order. The owner then called at about 10pm to check on us and make sure everything was to our liking... who does this, nobody does this.... hands down best service we have ever had anywhere! I've ordered from this place about three times. Last two times straight through the restaurants website cause it seems to be faster and suggested by the delivery driver first time. The food has always been fresh and delicious. Tonight the delivery was also faster than expected! The portions are huge and leftovers and are well worth it. I ordered chicken and pea pods and my husband had the twice cooked chicken. While we were waiting a very nice man gave us Santa hats with hearts and snowflakes that light up! Wow! What a nice thing to do! We were already sold on this place! When we got home, the food was still nice and hot and tasted delicious. Great big portions too.
