Horrible horrible service, I understand they were busy but now, they don't even offer tap water anymore. You have to buy water bottles and they try to charge you $1.00 each person at the table (including your kids 2/3 year olds so check your receipts before paying) for tea even if they don't drink it. We were here with minimal service, did not ask for anything extra. We had to flag them down multiple times to multiple waitress/waiters to get our bill and to go boxes. Then when we were going to pay, we told the waiter to take off $3 because there were 3-3 year olds that do NOT drink hot tea. He said, "I am busy and they don't split checks." He took the receipt flipped the cards back on the table, and left. When we talk to the owner, she will charge $3 per card if you want to split the bill. I came here for our Thanksgiving dinner since we weren't visiting any family during the holiday. I can say this place was packed during Thanksgiving day. We had the Peking duck as well as the Cantonese style crispy lobster, beef short ribs and yu choi. Everything was great except for the beef short ribs. I could definitely tell that the ribs were a bit older and it had a bit of a odd taste to it because of that. We've been to this restaurant few times since the reopening from the shutdown due to several health code violations that I was hoping for improvement, but not exactly. On the upside, they do serve good seafood dishes that seems anything shrimp or fish related are always impressive with good portion and perfect seasoning. There's also a promotion of buy Peking duck dishes get one Peking duck free for the next visit on weekdays, which is a good deal....and here comes the "but." I know ducks are fat, BUT their ducks are the next level of FAT. It's still dripping oil and covered in grease when served, and more grease would be squeezed from the fat as you take a bite - it overtakes all other tastes. We also had a Japanese tofu pot, which we found the tofu was sour inside with funny texture so we politely told the waiter about it and returned the dish. A moment later he returned with an attitude explaining that they will take the dish off from the bill, but they tasted the tofu and there was ABSOLUTELY nothing wrong with it. While I appreciate they took it off from the bill, I'm still concerned that they don't believe in the customer and/or they don't taste the food that they served had went bad. Don't understand some of the hate for this place. We've been looking for a decent Peking duck place in atl and we finally found it here. Finally, there's a place with real Peking duck and not just some roasted duck with flabby skin. Nah fam, the skin here is thin and crispy while the meat is tender and juicy. Even the wraps it comes with are traditional with a thin wrap that is more of a vehicle for the duck and not a thick bun that takes away the flavor. Nice place, and it was okay at first because we had the older woman who pushes the cart around. Then we ran out of dim sum food and ordered more and it literally took 20+ minutes.... I called in an order to go and asked Jennifer for recommendations. The pickup outside was no-touch, and everyone was gloved and masked and making use of disinfectant wipes and hand sanitizer. Had the Peking Duck here last night. I liked the fact that they give you pancakes instead of the steamed buns most places give you. Actually I think they may be the only place in Atlanta area that serves pancakes. The duck was good but I wish it was crispier. I received a coupon to return for a 2nd Duck for free. This business has scammed me out of hundreds of dollars. They overcharge you a lot more on the final bill than what they list on the menu, so when I signed without looking over the bill and I brought it up with the manager/owner to adjust the correct amount. He promises he will refund me the money, but the server immediately takes my signed receipt away. I ask for it back then they say they lost it. Believing that they'd refund me my money like they said they would, I waited a few days. The owner even texted me the next day confirming the refund, then days later he just ghosted me completely. Until I disputed with my bank, but because they had submitted my signed receipt, they "won" that dispute. So it just makes me extremely upset to have even entered the premises and let them take even one dollar of my hard earned money. They really seem skilled at doing this, because reading other reviews on multiple platforms, I can tell I'm not the first. And when I went back to the restaurant to speak to them about it, the owner starts lying saying he is Liang, not Jiang, he doesn't even know a Jiang. Dude, the receipt clearly states Jiang as my server. If you didn't know of a Jiang or are not Jiang, why is the name Jiang on the bill? Overall just a corrupt business. I went there with my husband and a friend this Tuesday night. That night was quite empty with only a few tables of customers. Should you expect more attention and better service? Starting with food ordering, I told the waiter (a bald male) to reduce the MSG in the food, and he looked reluctant and said "it's hard to do so", and I said, "just put less" with a smile but thinking how hard is it? The food came and thankfully they did what I asked for and the food still tasted decent. I had no problem with them giving us room (leaving us alone) to enjoy eating and chatting on ourselves but I had a BIG problem when I asked for service and being despised. After we settled the bill (with 20% mandatory service fee charged), I asked the same waiter for 2 containers and 2 boxes to carry out our food. He misheard my instructions and brought me 1 container and 1 box. When I politely repeated my instructions, he interrupted and raised his tone on me, "so what do you want?", as if he is my boss. He truly brought it on and of course I needed to stand my ground for my esteem by telling him I told you my instructions clearly before. Then he turned away and "apologized" in an extremely unwilling tone and manner. Quickly, a lady came back with an extra container and box. Really delicious and great for groups. My kids enjoyed the duck as well. Slightly expensive for the portions. By comparison, our DC area Peking Duck spot was only $40 vs. $50 and the other dishes could accommodate a family of six. In any case, I would definitely come back. Update. This place is a hidden gem! I pass by a million times and never thought much of it. If you dare, like we did, walk inside those doors and the place is bright, as in well lit with chandeliers and spot lights and simply luminous. It feels clean. They have a few private rooms, but the dining area feels tight, with pandemic restriction lifted, my chair bumped with the guest from the next table. Service is accommodating. The roll out is not fast, so be warned! They will bring out one dish at the time every 20 mins or so. For a 6-7 course meal, expect to be there a couple of hours. Which, it is more in line with the Asian culture, give you time to savor the dish and enjoy your company. You eat, chat, eat, chat some more, eat, take a bathroom break, eat, chat, and OMG they're closing! We enjoy their signature duck dish. So far, all the dishes we had tried fulfill our expectations and are also consistent. The menu is extensive and in large print photos, making the choices could be difficult for some. We visited this place Friday Night (9/24/21). We need to try it for ourselves since we are getting so much good reviews. To our amazement, it is true. The Pecking Duck is outstanding. The presentation on how the duck was sliced in front of us and all the remaining parts are created into a stir fry is just amazing. As we finished our dinner, the owner passed by. She is very friendly and grateful for our complements. Our server is amazing. She is very helpful and knowlegable of the menu. Speaking of menu, there are so much to pick from and with pictures. We ordered a combination of dishes for $188. They run out of bass and told us they will replace with tilapia for the same price! Everyone knows tilapia is way cheaper then bass , they argued that since the lobster price has gone up in the combo and they did not charge more, so we are even. WTH? Later I told them that The tilapia they cooked was bitter because they probably break the fish gallbladder and contaminated the fish. The waitress said yea it happens. And Did nothing about it. I am so disgusted with the cultural biases and blatant discrimination that takes place in the world today further perpetuated by businesses like chef house in Duluth. I am literally sitting here in the restaurant that I drove 40 mins to, attempting to enjoy the food that is by far the most authentic Asian cuisine in all of Atlanta. Just dine in only!! As odd ass that sounded and as disappointed as I was I still had my wife and young daughter get out of the car explaining to them we had no other choice but to eat here. They begrudgingly got out of the car and sat down at a table totally caught of guard by the business model that just did not to make sense for the business. Anyway as I'm sitting here, three males all of Asian descent no less came into the restaurant and picked up what appeared to be call ahead/to go orders. Now I'm not the one to care what another person does nor how they benefit from their relationships but as it would appear, this lady straight out lied to me if for no other reason than the color of my skin. I whole heartedly wish I could say I felt something different but just in the way she looked at me as she served each of the more privileged guest, truly had me feeling a way. I would not give 1 star if I could do 0 star...the dishes were in extraordinarily small amount, and the waitresses were super rude. Apparently they only had one chef on a busy Friday night, that's how they explained why we waited for over an hour for all our dishes. Also, when we told the manager one of the dishes looked nothing like the picture on the menu and tasted awful, she told us "menu is only menu ", as if she didn't care at all. I've never experienced that bad a dining experience.
