Stay away from this place! The lack of communication while sitting in the waiting area is an absolute disgrace. The exam itself was great and all the pretesting, the ultimate reason for my low score is they never billed me for my exam; I kept checking with my eye insurance company through the remainder of 2024, but they kept saying they didn't see anything billed. Fast forward to one year later, they send me a bill but it shows that my insurance denied it, well, of course they denied it because you're billing me a year after the services were done. Whose fault is that for billing my insurance company one year later? My second part is when I went back to pick up a variety of sample contacts. I was handed a bag on contacts with no instructions whatsoever provided; mind you, there were four different brands, two different styles and two different prescription strength of trials. What do you expect me to do; try and figure it out this blind puzzle? This is why I pay by American Express; when issues like this arise I don't have to go back and work with the supplier, AMEX does. I have all the receipts from my co-payments I made at the time of service, so nice try!!! read more

I have been a patient of Chelmsford Optometric Associates for at least 8 years now. There has been a noticeable downgrade in customer service and communication with this office. Recently I had an appointment cancelled on me due to inclement weather. Ok, that's understandable. There was a snowstorm. However, I didn't receive any notification of the cancellation. I ended up driving to the office only to find a note on the door regarding the closure. More recently I arrived to an appointment ten minutes late because of a delay at work. Ok, that's on me for being late. When I arrived I was told I would have to reschedule again because they were behind. Over being 10 minutes late?! Seemed like just an excuse to not take me. When I gave my name in order to reschedule, the woman sitting at the desk of the optical department could not even find my name on the list to reschedule, almost as if I wasn't listed as having an appointment that day. Even more recently I ordered contacts after my exam. Despite having my insurance on file the optical department didn't use my insurance but charged me full price. These issues have all been in a span of two weeks. Despite the convenience of being in the same town as I live in, the amount of problems with this office are not worth it for me to stay. I will be switching eye doctors next year! read more

When it comes to all aspects of eye health as well as eyewear quality there is no one close that I have ever experienced. My wife and I discovered this gem in 1993 and have been going there to get all of our eyewear needs handled ever since. There was no need for any type of experience comparisons because nobody else is close. When you go there, you will understand the truly quality experience that you will have as they will make sure that you are happy with your purchase and will work with you to make sure that your eyes are the healthiest that they can be as they provide you classes that are the coolest around which really matters more than most people realize. They are very proactive and extremely interested in your ability to see at all levels and will work with you to make sure that every aspect is the best it can possibly be. You have got to give these people a go because when you do you will understand that they are truly a special enterprise in all ways. Poor customer service and billing department. Got a surprised bill a few months after visit.

I am so disturbed by the billing of this optometry practice. This year I suddenly started receiving bills for visits up to 4 YEARS AGO. Since I get an eye exam every year paid for by my insurance -- without needing a referral -- I questioned the bill. I was told that because I hadn't gotten a referral, my insurance wouldn't pay. After checking with HR to ensure that I wasn't wrong about the referral, I have concluded that they billed incorrectly 4 YEARS AGO and now want me to pay for their mistake. A few months later they billed me for a visit 3 YEARS AGO -- a visit that I don't recall having occurred. My question is: why wasn't I billed 3 YEARS AGO if I had an outstanding balance? Why am I getting bills now? I am paying the bill to avoid this going to a collection agency, but I think these people are scamming their (FORMER!!!) patients. read more

I have been a patient here for 25 years. It was fantastic when Steve was there. The new owner is terrible. The customer service is terrible. My husband has left to go elsewhere as well as my children. I continue to go there, I have no idea why; probably close to my office. I tried to call a dozen times to get a person when they were open. Always goes to voice mail. I left a message once and they called back ONCE and left a message for me. What are the chances that I am going to be waiting for their call? Why cant they answer their phone like every other business when in session. They make you wait for at least an hour every visit. The owners have no customer service and their team has no customer service. I guess I will need to continue to beg them to be a patient or go somewhere else. My vision has also never been as good in my contacts since Steve was there. Miss you Steve. read more

Only one hiccup in my years of going, I didn't get a call answered/voicemail returned, however, when I called back the next week, the team was extremely apologetic and you could tell it was an honest mistake... I've had a terrible experience with this practice. The staff are confused and have misinformed my husband and I numerous times. From misinforming us about our insurance being accepted to also being confused about contact fittings. The only good part about my experience was the lady helping me choose frames. I will not be returning. I suggest hiring and training the staff to be more knowledgeable. Due to being misinformed by the staff about having a lens fitting, I am left without contacts for an extended period of time. read more

Dr. Sehgal and her staff are amazing. I would highly recommend going here. The office staff are friendly & very knowledgeable. The equipment is state of the art. There is an amazing selection of glasses. Dr. Sehgal is very kind, passionate about her work and goes the extra mile to make sure she recommends the best course of action to get you to the best place regarding your eyesight. My Daughter and I had appointments but because of Covid they got canceled and rescheduled which is fine we get that but they knew we had Davis Vision insurance we got there yesterday and they were asking me for my Blue Cross insurance. Now I work in the medical field and I know unless you have something medically wrong with your eye you are going to bill a routine Eye exam under your vision insurance. What kind of scam are They pulling? Now, if you happen to have metal in your eye, Cataracts or glaucoma yes I could see them billing not under your medical portion but not for a routine Eye exam. I would like to know the billing code that they are using for peoples health insurance to get away with this? Zero stars!!! read more

This place has really gone down hill since the change in staff (my whole family USED to go here for years and love this place). Sure the office is prettier but I don't care how pretty your office is when the Dr has a chip on her shoulder. Last year when I went to get contacts I had an appointment at the end of the day. Maybe she was tired, I don't know. I was tired too, I had just come from work but I wasn't rude to her. I went to this place all throughout high school and college. My whole family used to go here. Very poor customer service. Requested appointment for eye exam and they tell me they need to send my symptoms (itchy eye) to 'triage'. Told me they would call me that day, and never did. Called again the next day, my number again forwarded to triage. No call back. What is going on with these people ? COVID really decimated them. read more

I called to make an appointment to get contacts. I had a full appointment and paid my co-pay plus an extra fee for "eye mapping". After the appointment when I asked about contacts, I was told that would be a totally separate appointment with an extra fee of $176. I was also told I would be required to purchase the prescription at Chelmsford Optometric Associates for them to "teach me how to put the DME in my eyes". NONE of this was discussed when the appointment was booked or during this appointment. I would have to pay for 2 full appointments plus the charge for the prescription at their place of business. The doctor was totally disrespectful and impatient with me when I was asking for an explanation. She was very condescending. The young woman at the desk tried to help explain and inform me of my insurance coverage and the doctor (yelling across the hall) "She an established patient. None of that will apply to her" (regarding insurance discounts). The receptionist was very sweet however the doctor was beyond RUDE and lacked any empathy!!!!! read more

I have been going to Dr. Adelstein since I was child and I would not want to go back to anyone else. I moved out of the state for awhile and had to choose a new eye doctor. No one I went to even came close to the personal service I feel this office has to offer. Not only have I been going to this office for many years, but my family as a whole would only trust Dr. Adelstein for for eye care needs. If there was a way to give this place less than 1 star I would. The service is absolutely terrible. I've been ordering glasses here for my children and it seems to take forever, even when they tell me its going to take a week or two. When I call in 2 weeks to get an update, the receptionist can never give me an answer, "I need to wait for the dr to call me back"...which after 5 calls HAS NEVER happened. I continually have to call to get any updates but they never have them. I had an appointment 2 weeks ago that got cancelled but no one called to tell me, I even got a text confirming my appointment 2 hours before. I got there and the office was closed. They have no disregard for anyone's time but their own. I'm still sitting here wondering what happened to my latest pair of glasses and they are closed on the weekends so I guess I'll have to wait a few more days. They happily took my money when I ordered them but now I'm money-less, glasses-less, and can't get anyone to call me back....... read more

I highly recommend Chelmsford Optometric. I have a very difficult prescription to fill. I went to a few different Optometrists and they gave me glasses and contact lenses the weren't effective. Dr Sehgal took her time with me making sure that the prescription for my glasses and contacts were perfect. If you are looking for glasses see Andrea. She is awesome! I had gone to Chelmsford Optometric Associates for a couple of years, but decided to switch to a new doctor since the service was so-so. I hadn't yet switched, but had a problem with my eye. Dr. Adelstein was able to see me that day. He examined my eye and prescribed antibiotic eye drops. I made a follow up appointment for a week later at which time he said he would do an annual eye exam. Because my eye felt better and I had an appointment scheduled the next month with a new doctor, I cancelled my follow up. I should add that they took my medical insurance information and charged me my medical specialist co-pay. My new doctor called me a few days before my appointment and said because I already had an exam, I would need to pay out of pocket. I discovered that Dr. Adelstein filed a claim for an annual eye exam that he did not perform. I called the office and was told that it was on the chart and that Dr. Adelstein was out of town for two weeks. I explained that I had an appointment and the situation needed remedied sooner. The woman said it wasn't really her job, but she "could" talk to the other doctor at their practice. I can't believe the lack of integrity of Dr. Adelstein's office to commit insurance fraud and then not have the desire to resolve the situation as quickly as possible. Do not go here. read more

I've been a patient of Dr. Adelstein my entire life and have always received excellent care. The new doctor seems to be very knowledgable and I had a great exam with her. The one negative I have to say is don't expect someone to answer the phone when you call, 9 times out of 10 you will get the voicemail. It doesn't seem to matter what time of day I call, it takes at least 3 different times to get an actual person on the phone. Other than that issue the customer service is fabulous. I've been with this eye doctor out of convenience for years, but will finally be leaving them this winter. Every person on staff (that I've interacted with) is incompetent. They have ordered the wrong contacts, the wrong amount of contacts, and just forgotten to order them at all- several times. They seem to think that everyone has time to stop by the eye doctor 10 times a year due to their mistakes. If you order contacts from them, confirm the number of contacts and price several times before you go to pick them up. They will likely order the wrong amount, and they will NEVER be ready for you when the desk clerk says they will be - so call before you go to double check that they have the order and that the order is correct to save a trip. They don't respond to email, and the doctors are never prepared or briefed on the patient, I often have to remind them why I am there or they will try to send me home before the appointment is over. Also - and this one is actually pretty funny - They have this habit of asking you to take out your contacts or take off your glasses, then asking you to meet them in the other room, sign something, etc - like you, as my eye doctor, knows better than anyone that I can't see shit right now! One time the doctor was holding my glasses and decided that this was a good time to start a 20 minute conversation - while I can't see anything... I asked for them back and she said yes just a second, and asked me 5 more questions before giving them back. Why? They just don't know how to run a practice and interact with patients. read more

I recently went to Chelmsford Optometric Associates for an eye exam as well as to purchase a new pair of glasses and found the entire experience to be wonderful. When I first walked in I was pleasantly greeted by the women at the front desk and promptly taken in for my eye exam with Dr. Sehgal. Dr. Sehgal preformed a very thorough and compressive eye exam and explained everything that she was doing and why is was doing it. I also found her to be very patient which is a good thing for me because I do not like having my eyes examined. After my exam I went to pick out my glasses where I found her staff to be very helpful in suggesting the right style for my face as well as my prescription. They have a great selection of glasses to choose from and I received my glasses within a week. No question about it, I highly recommend Dr. Sehgal and her staff at Chelmsford Optometric Associates. read more

I wanted to change eye doctors and decided on here based on insurance. The Doctor I saw was an Indian woman and she was personable and thorough. However she was leaving for India before she could finish my followup for contact fittings. I had to be booked with another doctor to finish up. The new doctor was very thorough but had me come back for more visits. That was 3 months ago and I still am unable to get my prescriptions. They promise to mail or email them and never follow through. (yes my bill is paid in full). They also never answer their phones you always have to leave messages. Every time I go in they are running 30-45 minutes behind on their appointments. Also their appointment reminder system is crazy, you get 2-3 automated phone calls and two emails before every appointment to remind you to come in. I had to ask them to stop notifying me all together as it was just too much. I am not impressed with this practice. read more

I had an appointment with Dr. Sehgal this past week to get my eyes checked. It was my first time there, and it was a great experience. The staff is very welcoming and pleasant, and Dr. Sehgal is extremely knowledgeable and patient. She did a thorough checkup not only on my vision but also on the physical health of my eyes. She explained everything to me in great detail so that she knew that I understood my results. I will certainly go back. I highly recommend! read more

I have been a patient of Dr.A since I was 12 and my parents and my sisters still go there. I loved when Rita was there, she basically ran that place. She left to have a baby, and there has been a lot of change of hands. The male doctor he was partners with was awesome. Now there is a new doctor, to my understanding has a resume of owning chain eye opt. establishments. I have yet to meet her. But the front of the house staff is a joke. I called an ordered contacts two months ago, they took my number and said it would take two weeks and they would call. Two weeks later. They said, we will order them, there was no notes, could we take your number and we will call you when they arrive. Another three weeks, I called again, contacts were never ordered so I went in personally, she she will order them and will call in a couple of weeks. I spoke to my father, whom also mentioned for his appointment he waited 2 hours in the waiting room. My husband also ordered glassed over 6 months ago, first they forgot to place the order, second time they forgot which glasses he wanted so he had to go in and repack, 3rd time they said they would order, shouldn't take but a couple of weeks. Its now has been over several months. NOTHING. So I asked my husband to reach out to the VA, took them two weeks. Mind I add, my husband as been in the service for almost 30 years and has been denied his VA benefits which we continue to fight. Which saddens me, but the VA can get him glasses in two weeks, yet Dr. Adelsteins office with a front staff of 4-6 can't? I know Dr.Adelstein is a tough cookie, but of him to let this fly. And give the community these many years of service because of the front staff. Sad. I am in the process of finding both my parents, my kids and my husband new eye care. Any suggestions? read more
