It's basic Americanized Chinese takeout. And for what it is, it's tasty, fast, and cheap.

Never, ever, again ! ! ! I have tried this local spot several times, each time hoping for the best, and each time making excuses for their lack-luster food. I ordered online, because the owner said that by doing so, I would be entitled to several coupons, and promos. So, I went to [www.ChengsChopsticksChicago.com] and placed my order. Along with several other dishes, I ordered two orders of egg rolls, and one order of spring rolls and with an order over $35 dollars was promised an additional "FREE" Orange Chicken dish . Well, I got 3orders of spring rolls, and no egg rolls... also, I received no "Free" dish of Orange rubber chicken. But I did receive an unexplained = Open Charge = for $5.45. When I called to ask what this mysterious charge was, I was told that the open charge was added because I placed my order by internet (Note: I picked-up my food...it was not delivered) and so, the prices are higher online, than in the store...and no 'so sorry for no Orange Chicken', ...no 'so sorry for the mistake on the eggrolls'...and no, 'your business is important to us, give us a chance to correct it'... just it is your (my) fault, and that is the way it is !!! This last experience is the absolute last straw mushroom for this Oh-So-Mediocre hole in the wall on Armitage !!! My family and I am declaring a personal crusade to inform all my neighbors of their wonton deceit and dishonesty (pun intended). For all y'all who have given "Cheng's Chopsticks" 4-Stars...you have all either been living under a rock, or have no clue what good Chinese food tastes like. read more

I have ordered from here a few times. My go to for Chinese take-out. Delivery sometimes takes a little while but the food is worth it. All the meats I have tried (mongolion beef and various chicken) are really good. Not crappy meat! Egg drop soup is really thick though. I couldn't eat it because of its texture! We ordered Cheng's this past Friday night and delivery took just over an hour. We ordered the Orange Chicken Dinner Special and the Beef With Hot Garlic Sauce Dinner Special. Both were advertised as spicy, but disappointingly they were not spicy at all. The dinner specials were also supposed to come with egg rolls, which we did not receive. Another disappointment. The Crab Rangoon were GIGANTIC which was exciting, but they didn't come with any of that red/pink dipping sauce that every other Chinese place gives you... so they didn't really get eaten. This place is great. The food is pretty good for what you're paying for. The main reason I'm giving them 5/5 is because their portions are awesomely huge. So much so that they have to staple the containers shut. There's a guy on here that complained about that and I think that is pretty petty. They have a huge range of food and they get that food done in a decent amount of time. I got delivery and it took about 45 minutes for 3 different entrees. It also came with a pair of reusable chopsticks which I thought was wicked awesome. Finally a go-to Chinese place for me in Logan Square. read more

Yelp member since 2008. 5 years later I'm writing my first review, and I'm doing it for Cheng's Chopsticks. That's how excited I am to finally have a good Chinese delivery joint. It's one of the things that I've missed most since moving to WP...or even Chicago overall, for that matter. Until now, I've always ruled out ordering Chinese food outside of Chinatown. Got the general tso's chicken, beef and broccoli, and some hot/sour soup. Everything was good, it was delivered quickly, and it was super cheap for an enormous amount of food. Fair to middling Chinese basics. The lunch special is quantity over quality. For $6.25 I got an egg roll, a can of soda, and enough sesame chicken and fried rice to feed four people. We ordered take out for a family dinner. We ordered crab Rangoon everyone liked it, the egg rolls were not my favorite but maybe if we had dated there they would have been better. The potstickers were also very good. The Mongolian beef was tasty and general tso's chicken was good and so was the Lo Mein. Not a bad place. The price was actually pretty good for a family of two dinner . There was enough food there for at least two or even three days. . They did include some kind of funky fried wonton chips, but I was not impressed by that at all. The menu is massive and has about at least 80 to 90 items on it so it can get a little confusing. Good not great. Just your average Chinese takeout spot. No aroma of any food in this place just a stale grease odor but since everyone had such great things to say I took a chance. The chicken in the Orange chicken was dry and hard to chew, the Mongolian beef was mostly vegetables and gravy and the crab Rangoon was not what I was hoping for. Ham egg foo young and rice was nothing special. Side note, they have on their menu something called "Puerto Rico fried rice", I want you ALL to know there is no such thing. Puerto Ricans do not fry their rice neither do they make rice containing shrimp, beef, chicken and green beans. My son and I had a nice laugh about it but I really wish they would change that. Got the orange chicken, shrimp fried rice, crab ragoons, and an egg roll. The egg roll was pretty good. One of my crab ragoons was half empty. The shrimp fried was was ok, I've had better. The orange chicken was terrible. It was so dry and hard I couldn't finish even half of it (I didn't eat breakfast so I was hungry asf.) So, I thought I'd share a piece with my two dogs (now they are spoiled and picky but they LOVE meat), and they just spit it out!! Food is great the only problem I have is the small is extra small the large is medium and when you ask for old style you get an extra small box for 7 bucks . I say rip off! I've been living in the Logan Square neighborhood for 4.5 years and was so fortunate to find this place back then. The food is super fresh and delivery is quick. I am obsessed with their Sweet & Sour Shrimp, the shrimp is huge. For anyone looking for their favorite Chinese place, this place has it all. Best "dirty" chinese in Logan Square. Well, maybe not in all of Logan square, but definitely probably close. And I only say "dirty" because it is greasy (but it is soo gooood). Plus, you always get your monies worth, and the food is realllllyyy good. I am obsessed with their eggrolls and crab rangoons. The first time we went here it was a random fluke, my boyfriend wanted Chinese and we were driving by. I was less than thrilled by the barbeque pork lo mein, even though the photo on the wall made it look delicious. We went back yesterday without realizing we had been there before until we were inside, and way too hungry to go anywhere else, so we gave it a second chance and this time everything we ordered was really good. We got curry chicken, shrimp with pea pods and fried rice. Cheng's is hit or miss in that there are strange issues that occur with them between placing an order and receiving it. Two examples: I ordered from here a few days ago from their website, not a third-party delivery site. They had a deal advertised that if I spend a little more, I'll get free crab rangoon. I added more to my order and when the food came, the crab rangoon was not in the bag. When I called, the woman who answered the phone at Cheng's told me that what I had ordered doesn't qualify for the free crab rangoon. I understand that there are limitations to these deals sometimes, but I explained that their website and menu do not have this stipulation anywhere. So she hung up on me. I called back and they did not answer, which is something I have figured out already about Cheng's. Last time I ordered was last year (didn't want to come back here so soon) during a snow storm, and I lived two blocks away from this restaurant. I ordered from Cheng's during the storm, they assured me that they're open and making deliveries. An hour and a half after placing the order I called to check on it, and they apologized for the delay, but the weather was holding them up. Totally understandable. I called back another 45 minutes later, over 2 hours from placing the order, and when I told the person on the phone who I am, she immediately hung up. I called back three more times and no one answered, until the third time when the phone was picked up to be hung up immediately. They have caller ID (you can see when you go in) so I was being screened after waiting more than two hours and already paying for my meal. I waited a few days and saw the money refunded on my card - but why not just tell me that the weather is too bad, that the order cannot be completed... anything? At the time I was angry that I was treated like that, but I am not much of a Yelp review poster and let it slide like most things, but it seems to be a pattern with these guys. The food is pretty good, but with the countless similar places in this neighborhood, I do not see a good reason to be disrespected and jerked around for some fried rice. read more

This is a good restaurant... very poor customer service. The lady who takes the order is very rude... i told her my fried rice was dry.. she offered to put some water on it? Can you believe that.
