I consider myself a regular at this fine Sichuan-style restaurant, where most of the dishes I've tried have been quite delectable. However, the hot and sour soup I recently ordered was a notable exception, it simply didn't live up to expectations. I suppose that's part of the fun of dining out: you have to try different dishes to discover the real gems, as well as those that are best left off the next order. Fortunately, this one disappointing experience won't deter me from coming back. I'll simply make a mental note to steer clear of the subpar dishes--assuming, of course, I can remember which ones they were!
I ordered from their Chinese menu, which offered dishes you do not find on the means of Ubereats or DoorDash, such as crawfish, frog or bobo chicken & vegetable, I found that the quality of the dishes are better, the lamb meat was more plumped, the frog was well cooked and the quantity of more, also priced cheaper. What a wonderful surprise!
Super affordable with huge portions. Everything came out fresh and satisfying, and the duck is definitely a must order. Actually everything in the uploaded pics. We left full and already know we'll be coming back. We live down the street so it was an easy 5 minute walk for us, so I'm not too sure about parking. Also nice that you can bring your own alcohol and it's got a chill atmosphere with fast service.
This dinner was around 03/08/26 at 7:20pm. (Delayed post) I find this place back in 2025 and I would dine here with friends at least once every 2 months and the service was always very friendly and the food is great! I finally got to bring my mom for her first visit but the food this time didn't taste the same.... I have had the Roasted duck once and it was so juicy and flavorful, but on this day the duck was very dry and not too flavorful. It was also cold like it's been left out for a while. It was disappointing because I really wanted to impress my mom with that dish since it gave me a great impression the first time. The green sauce Bobo chicken was the same :) The clam dish however wasn't so great. We had a spoiled clam and majority of the clams had too much sand...which sometimes could means it wasn't clean very well. I hope next time it will be better...but sadly I don't think my mom will be back here
Y'all. Cheng Du Taste has the BEST Chinese food! The flavors are always consistent, the portions are perfect for sharing family-style, and every bite is busting with flavor. I order takeout from here all the time with my cousins -- it's our ultimate comfort food whenever we're craving something spicy and tingly. My favorite spicy dish? The popcorn chicken. I don't know what they put in there, but it's crack! Seriously addicting. If you're not into spicy food, don't worry -- there are plenty of amazing non-spicy options too: * Beef and onion * Tomato egg soup * Shrimp with salted egg crispy rice * Quail eggs (a must-get!) * Twice-cooked pork * Green beans * Eggplant Everything here is so good, and the service is always fast and welcoming. They get busy, so I highly recommend calling ahead for reservations. Bottom line: You must go. You won't regret it!
What a surprise! I survived spicy food made mild;) and everything was delicious and healthy. Came with a colleague who loves spicy food-who ordered everything mild on my behalf. The high quality and delectable tastes shone through during the meal, highlighting the visible care in slicing and dicing foods, to the exquisite flavors embedded in each dish. See photos on what she ordered. The subtle veggies and tofu skin flavors helped offset the amazing fish soup, which was very very spicy, but irresistible. Aromatic rice, potato and green bell pepper veggies, tofu skins, and lamb on toothpicks were oh, so good! With all the food eaten, I can't believe I didn't gain 5 lbs, LOL. (And we each went home with another full plate for another meal! She said she loves the reasonable prices, here as well.) A pitcher of iced water is delivered to you, and refilled frequently. (Which I needed, of course!) Conveniently located near Walmart/Sam's Club, the restaurant is brightly lit and spacious, with QR code menus to order from. (They are sister companies with Mian, a noodle shop on the first floor.) A must try for healthy and high quality Chengdu food flavors!
This is the best Chinese food in the Waikiki area, maybe on the whole island. It's spicy, salty, and fast with friendly service and a clean dining experience.
It's always a great experience coming to Chengdu Taste. I love their food, service, and atmosphere. And I always see Chinese people so you know it's authentic! (As a Korean who only goes to authentic Korean restaurants). This time, we wanted to try different menus we haven't tried yet and even though I can't say I loved them as much as my regular go-to's, I still thoroughly enjoyed them. Ordering is always easy -- you just use a QR code and submit on your phone. And the servers are quick and attentive. It's also BYOB, so we brought our own beers to enjoy. I would say this is one of my top 5 restaurants. This is our 4th or 5th time coming back and of course we will be coming back!
Didn't know I have been here many years ago. Parking can be a little bit tricky, it is behind the building semi valet parking. Restaurant is at the second floor. Very nice and clean. Staff are very friendly and nice. I think the food is average. For some reason I feel the meat is not marinated through. I will try it again for different dishes next time.
Popped in to Chengdu Taste after taking tours of the Bishop and Shangri La Museums. Chengdu offers authentic Szechuan cuisine that will definitely pop your tastebuds. The interior is comfortable with well appointed Chinese decor. Service was great as we arrived mid-afternoon and there were only a few other occupied tables. We ordered a myriad of dishes that were served at various times, which we enjoyed. Four of us shared Cold Noodles with Garlic Sauce, Duck in Szechuan Style (half), Toothpick Lamb with Cumin, Sautéed Chicken with Pickles, Chengdu Style Fried Rice, Sautéed String Beans with Chili, and Wontons with Pepper Sauce. If you enjoy the heat & numbing effect of Szechuan peppercorns, Chengdu has you covered. Our mouths were fired up with all the unique flavors of these dishes. If you are looking for authentic Szechuan food, look no further.
I am so glad I got to take my coworkers to Chengdu Taste. We were all excited to get some spicy... everything. Spicy beef noodles. Spicy toothpick lamb. Spicy sliced pork. They were all very tasty. The only regret I have is that we couldn't get more people to show up and order more food. There's so much more than spicy meats. The fried rice is a tasty comfort food item. Go explore the menu. There's gotta be something for you.
The food was very tasty, we opt for mild spicy for our dishes that had spice levels, the minced beef w/turnip was one of my favorites, very flavorful and the crunch from the turnip was good, my only gripe on this one was that it only came with 4 buns, ratio was way off. The chitlins were my favorites, griddle cooked so it was a crispy outside and a nice juice inside. Inside is nice, ample amount of tables and a couple of large round tables for larger parties. The waitress we had was very on it, she came by to offer us water about 4 times, we were never thirsty lol
Want some Szechuan cooking? This is the place to be. It's like going to a Chinese restaurant and ordering your food like Genki sushi. There is a QR code at your table. You scan it, review the menu and order your dish. They would then deliver your dish to your table and keep track of what you ordered and your total bill. Not all dishes are spicy. You can order them Mild or some are not spicy. There are also a spot where you can give special instructions if needed. The dishes that was ordered were: *Mung bean jelly noodles in chili sauce: Interesting concept on a dish that is clear noodles with hot sauce. *Bean curd sheets with chili sauce: Very tasty but my lunch companions didn't care for it. *Spareribs with pineapple: not spicy. It was like sweet and sour pork ribs. *Chengdu fried rice: was okay. Not to dry and tasty. *Chengdu Special clams: not spicy and like in a garlic sauce. *Stir fried beef with cilantro: tasty and beef was tender. You got to like cilantro which I do. There was no service after they brought us water. No menu was given. They didn't ask if we knew how to order because it was our first time there. Notice the QR code on the table. Came out as soon as it was done. Restaurant has a update feel and look. Pro: We liked the non spicy food. I like the medium spicy food because I like medium spicy. Liked that some dishes when you ordered by QR code, you can give instructions on how spicy you want your food. Like you can see what you ordered and the total bill amount as you order. Con: Wish some of the dishes could be ordered non spicy. But, it is a Szechuan restaurant. Parking is limited valid or street parking. Would I go back: Not really.
Went this past week and quickly was seated with no wait. Food was just as delicious as I remembered it to be, even dreaming about it right now. The had a remodel of the restaurant, new chairs, tables, lighting fixtures, and new art/paint on the walls - looks great and super comfy! read more

The food is pretty awesome, first time having the Spicy fried Shrimp with crisp rice, delicious. This tasty dish requires hand peeling the shrimp but I was not put off. The dry skillet beef was nice though there was no sign of Sichuan peppercorns here or in any dish we had. SXY Sichuan does this dish better. The lamb toothpicks was fantastic. The order through the cell application does make service easy though you're not going to have anyone to consult on your culinary or dietary inquiries. read more

Sichuan food so expect spicy. This one is hard to rate. Normally, I go through all points, but their setup makes it difficult. So let's start with... Ambience - Clean, bright, not real noisy Food - Really good. We ordered Mapo Tofu (mild spicy), Sweet & Sour Fish, and two bowls of rice. Mapo Tofu came out first. I was expecting spicy, but it's all relative, right? Started off good, but in the end, was too spicy for me. Taste was great though. Again, all relative. The fish was REALLY good. See my pic. It's so different from any other sweet and sour fish I've had. Service Waiting for our food to arrive... Started with our mapo tofu, but that's all they brought. No rice, no fish. Maybe 10 minutes later, they brought the rice. Whew! Had balance. But then, no fish for a really long time. Seemed like 30 minutes, but let's even cut 10 minutes from that. 20 minutes to wait for our second and last entree is kind of long. I finally asked our "server" and it comes out 5 minutes later. So this is why they got 3 stars and not 4 or 5. As we were leaving, my stomach started to ache. Not their fault. I just think my stomach couldn't handle the spiciness of the Mapo Tofu by itself for so long. All that being said, their "service" is hard to rate cause they seat you, point out the QR code, bring you water, and confirm your order after you've submitted it through the QR code. You even check out through the QR code, so it's pretty much hands off. The guy was a machine. He took care of all the tables, including bussing. He was amazing, as he was constantly moving. There was one girl who was the runner and brought out all the food. So basically, they have one server/busser, one runner, and one cashier for front-of-the-house. Don't know how many cooks. Pretty low cost for labor, yet still pretty efficient. read more

Chengdu taste is known for having really spicy food. Maggie loves spicy food! This was her favorite place during her 3 months stay in Hawaii! She knew all the good things to order and ordered very well. I can handle spicy food but some of the things were super spicy. Really strongly recommended if you love spicy food. Their takeout is also fantastic. She ordered a bunch for lunch and it fed us for dinner and even brunch the next day. read more

Just landed in Honolulu and couldn't brave the storm tonight. Had UberEats delivery from here tonight, and it was excellent! Started with the wontons in chili oil - yum! Toothpick Lamb - addictive - loved the cumin and heat- I couldn't stop eating it. There's so many toothpicks! Hate to have that job. Loved eating here at Chendgu Taste! We were seated right away and the ambiance was very clean and tidy. We parked across the street at the mall and walked over which made it much easier. We had the Toothpick lamb, house fried rice, and the crispy fried chicken with chilis. The portions were big! There were two of us and we definitely took food home. There is no beer or alcohol, which isnt a problem, but something to know in case you were planning on a cold beer with your spicy food. I will definitely be back to try the mung bean jelly noodle! read more

This is my daughter's favorite Chinese restaurant in Honolulu. Their Szechuan menu is a little overwhelming with many specialties. I was disappointed that the menu did not describe ingredients, but the photos were enticing and accurate. The food is a little pricy, but the portions are large and sharable. Purposely, we ordered more than we could possibly eat so that we would have leftovers. The food arrived 40 minutes after ordering for dinner. Everything was still hot. The Boiled Sliced Fish in Hot Sauce ($22) is served with steamed rice. The fish is cooked in a delightfully spicy, somewhat hot, oily broth with cabbage. The fish was delicious and the portion generous and easily sharable. The Special Shrimp with Fries ($26) was a surprise on the menu. The fries and crisp shrimp were spicy with flavors of garlic and ginger. The portion was generous. The Chengdu Style Fried Rice ($13) is light and flavorful with bits of green onion. The Cold Noodle with Garlic Sauce ($13) is a family favorite and a garlic lovers delight. The noodles are smothered in garlic and there is an unique citrusy dressing on green onions and cucumber. The portion is small for the price and left me wanting more. The Wonton with Red Chili Sauce ($13) are meat (pork?) filled juicy dumplings served with a spicy hot chili sauce. The Winter Melon Tea ($4) was a refreshing delicious surprise. It was addictively sweet and fruity, and helped tone down the spicy meal. All in all, delicious food, fresh ingredients, lots of spicy goodness and interesting menu that will have me craving a return visit. read more
We went there looking for noodles and won ton. They do not have won ton mein. They have won ton but just by itself. The tan tan mein did not have too much sauce or meat. The glass noodle dish I would not order again. It was spicy cold and a bit too different. I did not like ordering by phone when in the restaurant. No physical menu just QR code. Our questions were not answered. Just not the place for me. Others there seemed to enjoy their order. With the price, portion, ambiance, taste of food, and lack of physical menu. Easily one of our favorite restaurants in Honolulu and we were shocked how we just moved here for a little more than a month and we ate here 3 times already, and almost always the same dishes coz they're THAT good! Highly recommend their stir fried shredded potato. Any flavor would work. We tried all three. The vinegar and spicy one is good if you like a little tanginess. Otherwise the green bell pepper one is good too. We've had this dish in another Sichuan restaurant and it just can't compare. This is soooo good with lots of umami flavor. (Don't know what oil they use.) The other dish we got all 3 times was the toothpick lamb with cumin. Omg so good especially if you like cumin and lamb. They go really well together. And chengdu taste cooked it so well that it stayed moist and tender even after all that charring! We also tried their noodles and fried rice. They were both OK. Not as amazing as the other two dishes but I was happy with them. We would probably keep ordering those two dishes and try a new dish every time we eat there again haha. read more
A vendor (and old friend) treated me to lunch at Chengdu Taste ... It was my first time here. You order your food online and a server brings the dishes to your table. We ordered three dishes ... Boiled Sliced Fish in Hot Sauce, Toothpick Lamb with Cumin and Szechwan Tan Tan Noodle. The lamb was first to arrive .... Petite pieces of lamb on toothpicks mixed with chopped red chilis, cilantro and a generous sprinkling of cumin spice. It was tasty but somewhat dry; we asked for some kind of sauce and we were served a bowl of chili oil. It would be a great appetizer with beer. The Szechwan Tan Tan Noodles arrived next and this ended up being my favorite of the three dishes. The ground pork, peanuts, Szechwan peppercorns and sesame paste coated the noodles perfectly. I could just have this dish and be a happy diner. The boiled sliced fish dish came last (sorry, no pic). Nice pieces of a white fish (Basa?) was swimming in a very spicy chili sauce. Wow, heat! There were pieces of cabbage similar to kimchi and bean sprouts. This was a very tasty dish but probably should have been eaten over rice. I love spicy food but kept running through the paper napkins because I was perspiring profusely. Each dish was fine though I would have liked some kind of dipping sauce for the lamb. Something besides chili oil. In summary, I enjoyed my first meal at Chengdu Taste and want to return to try other dishes. Recommended! read more

Food: No where else on the island does Sichuan style food like chengdu taste. The Ma-lah flavor is just right where your mouth isn't to numb and you can still taste your food. The Lam Dishes all go super well with beer and its a perfect spot for large parties as well. I cant recommend this spot enough and really happy that Hawaii has a sichuan style chinese food that represents the cuisine in such a high quality manner. Service: Efficient great service nothing bad to say about the staff nor wait times. Ambiance: Great spot for large parties. Better to since you can order more and share family style. read more

Wow! we came here for the first time after reading all the rave reviews and we have to say that we were not disappointed. The food was delicious!!! we ordered "Toothpick lamb", spicy eggplant and Cold tofu skin with chili sauce. they were spectacular. if you love spicy food, this Schezhuan restaurant will not disappoint. And what is amazing about this restaurant is that it is super clean. Probably the cleanest Chinese restaurant we have ever been to. We will definitely be back. Service is good and food even better. The location is not visible from the street but easy to get to. It is on the 2nd floor. Park at Walmart and walk towards Rycroft and Sheridan, an easy 3 minute walk. read more
We saw this place on a TV show and decided to give it a try. We were seated quickly, and our server explained the ordering process using the QR menu at our table. Very convenient way to order food, however if you have questions about the dishes, you will have to flag the staff down to ask your question. Very good flavors! This is not your typical Chinese restaurant, as it is Szechuan Chinese with much bolder flavors use of chili peppers. We ordered 4 dishes, and it came out to nearly $100, so this is not cheap, but it is family style. Parking is around the back of the building, enjoy watching your car go up an elevator as the parking structure is kinda cool. read more

Aloha, if you like or are in the mood for hot and spicy, this is the Chinese Restaurant for you! Whew! From numbing green sauce where your lips and tongue feel "chocho " to your brow is sweating with chilies, whoa you'll have a mouth full of flavor. The garlic friend rice and the garlic clams oh and the spicy eggplant were so ono, actually everything was good. You know upon walking in that it's a very authentic shezuan style fas everyone is speaking Chinese, from staff to patrons, lol. Felt like we were in Hong Kong or Vancouver! Best part is it's BYOB. Bring your shochu and beer to mellow out the spice, really refreshing. Will definitely return to work our way through the menu. Enjoy! read more
Food: authentic, spicy, delicious food. Growing up in LA, I'm used to having super authentic/traditional options to choose from. When I get that craving for the spicy Szechuan goodness, I know that Chengdu taste will always get it perfect. Ambiance: spacious, clean. Many tables to choose from, including the larger traditional round tables with the lazy Susan in the middle. I've come here in the past for Chinese new year with my family and comfortably fit our family of 10. Service: friendly, attentive. Your water will always be filled. You order through QR code and pat in the front as you leave, but anything you need in between that, just flag down one of the servers. TIP: Be careful when you order spicy.... You may not realize what you've got yourself in to. This place knows spicy and does it right. read more
Arrived by 6:15pm. Parking stinks around this restaurant. Temp, vax card and ID. They have plastic wrapped shields between tables, but the one by us has a hole in it. It's on the second floor of this corner 808 business building. Menu is through the QR code. We ordered fried chicken with chili, shredded potato with chili and vinegar, sautéed cabbage and chili, green beans with chili and boiled sliced fish in hot sauce too. All dishes are made spicy. No one has waited on us and we he been seated for a good 5-7 minutes now. Rice is extra here. The food takes a bit here, they bring it out as it's ready for the tables. The table next to us sat down after us and ordered after us and yet they are eating well ahead of us. The beans are out first, it had pork in the dish, but not in the description. Asked for a new order less the pork. The new beans were out in minutes. Once the first item came out, the rest was out shortly afterwards. The shredded potatoes are nice and spicy. The food was all yummy, it's about as good as our favorite Sichuan back at home, almost. They won't run an amex card here, but I could pay online at the Fetail site via the QR code. Ok. Paid online successfully. The food was all good stuff here. We ordered quite a bit, but we got most of it down. read more

One of the best (and only) places to get Sichuan cuisine on Oahu! It has that mala (numbing spice) quintessential of Sichuan. Here's what we got: Toothpick lamb: definitely the star of the night. They are served in cute bite sized pieces and tender with a the slightest chew to them. Love that they weren't gamey at all, though it might've been the mala spice kicking in! Fried Rice: which was not bad, but nothing all that special. It's the typical egg fried rice but with Sichuan peppers. It had a nice char from the wok though. Griddled Beef with Mixed Vegetables: tender pieces of beef, packed with lots of flavor but surprisingly not all that spicy. Mapo Tofu: exactly what you'd think mapo tofu tastes like with an extra numbing kick. Flavorful, but again, nothing too special. I wish it were a bit more sour though. Potato Strips: Slightly vinegary and salty, but I probably wouldn't order this one again. It's pretty bland and so we ended up mixing it with our mapo tofu. I would say that Chengdu Taste is definitely worth the try just for the toothpick lamb alone, but the prices per dish were pretty steep and I didn't leave the place all that full. read more
FOOD REVIEWS Parking is on the street or they have valet. Reservations for dinner I would recommend, they were pretty busy for a Tuesday night. The restaurant is on the second floor and an elevator is available. The dining area welcoming and bright with many different sized tables for smaller or larger family style eating. There was one huge round table in the back that looked like it could easily fit a party of 20 adults or more. But I would call to see what its true capacity is. Ordering requires scanning a QR code that will present a menu showing vibrant colored pictures of each dish and their price. On the left of the menu is a side bar listing foods in their respective categories. You can tap and go directly to the dishes you want eg. Special New dishes, Cold dishes, Chengdu Special dishes, Fish & Shrimp, All About Beef, All About Pork, Noodles & WonTon & Rice etc. We were honored by the presence of a dear friend of my husband who had spent immersed for 2 years in China so we got a quick tutorial on the Ma(numbing)and La(spicy) (Mala) flavors unique to Sichuan dishes. We also deferred to her in selecting what to eat. For those who are not familiar, being Chinese myself it was quite the learning experience: Sichuan food is different from the typical Cantonese style of Chinese food most islanders are familiar with. The larger population of immigrants to Hawaii came from Canton (more currently known as Guangzhou Province). Mala is a signature flavor and is more a combination of sensations than just tastes due to the Sichuan peppercorns, which cause that citrusy, numbing sensation, coupled with the spicy burn of chile peppers. Our guest had graciously considered our limited experience with Sichuan foods and asked how spicy we were comfortable with. We said medium spicy and what she ordered was exactly what we got. She was also fluent in Mandarin and our server was delighted to accomodate her requests. The staff were very polite and attentive, unobtrusive but checked in on us and provided whatever things we needed to enjoy our meal. Each and every dish had its similar but unique presentation. My taste buds were singing and could not have been happier. Helpful tip she provided was if things were getting too spicy that drinking cold water would just heighten the spiciness and that you should eat rice instead. Food portions were generous and there was more to take home to probably cover another meal or two! Toothpick Lamb with Cumin- be careful of the bits of broken toothpicks, lamb was a bit dry but the blend of cumin and spices made up for it. Duck in SiChuan Style (half a duck)- crispy skin and moist chunks of duck meat, need I say more? Boiled Sliced Fish in Hot sauce Sautéed Eggplant with Spicy Garlic Sauce Cuiyun Boiled Fish with Pickled Cabbage and Chili- absolutely one of my favorites. Chang brings the heat--and more importantly, the flavor--at Chengdu Taste, a Szechuan-style restaurant transplanted from Los Angeles, continuing its tradition of excellence. The dishes are not for the faint of heart, with favorites like shrimp fried rice, lamb toothpicks, spicy boiled fish, and spicy eggplant. Each dish delivered unique, bold flavors, with the spicy eggplant standing out, even for a self-professed meat lover. The Szechuan boiled fish was perfectly cooked but paired best with plain white rice to balance the heat. Prepare to have your taste buds blown away. 9/10, will go again! read more

Very authentic Chinese food. I'm not Chinese but I had lots of Chinese food and I feel that the food here is definitely tasty. We ordered mapo tofu and crispy chicken. They were great. The food came out very quickly. We were there at almost 3 pm (last call for lunch) but they were nice and took our order. The manu was online and you can easily order in your phone. The restaurant was clean and the staff was professional. The restaurant was upstairs and you can park at Walmart parking across the street (for free). read more

My experience at chengdu taste was extremely disappointing 3 weeks ago. First the service was completely unprofessional. The restaurant uses an online ordering system, but when we tried to get the attention of the staff by waving 2-3 times, nobody responded. Second, we added an extra dish, but the restaurant made us to wait 20min just to serve it at the same time as another late arriving customer order, even though other guests who ordered or added dishes at the same time as us had already received theirs. Finally, the quality or the beef was awful. Most of the slice was full of tendons and impossible to chew, we have to swallow them. To make the matter worse, after leaving a negative review, the owner didn't respond, and somehow my review was deleted. Overall, a terrible experience. read more
Highly recommended by the bf for its authentic taste. I came here for take out for my first time. Second time I came in for dining. I believe they are related to the Mian Restaurant also. Due to COVID times, they have developed a system of ordering food through their website app. Very interesting and convenient. You pick the dishes you want and order it. You can pay later when you're done. There was a variety of dishes I tried here and 95 percent of these is most likely spicy. Almost every dish has chili pepper in it. Of course you can adjust the spice level. Some of the dishes I really enjoyed was the chicken gristle, mapo tofu, and the ham hock. The food is very flavorful and delicious. The spicy ness gives you a numbing taste. Portions are meant to be shared, family style. I recommend you pick meat dishes. The seafood dishes doesn't seem to interest me. Big portions, spicy, strong flavor, and unique...this is where you should stop by. I'll come again when I'm ready to eat a spicy feast! read more

Heard good things about this place, so we came here for dinner last night. (Also because we wanted to eat dumplings after watching Wish Dragon!) The food was delicious, everything we ordered was tasty (not like some places where maybe one dish stood out because the rest were meh)! We accidentally did not order any spicy dishes and which we found out after our order was submitted. So I asked for a chili oil haha. The food: 1. Fried rice $11.99 - very simple with egg, green onion, and possibly salted vegetables which I mistook for salted fish. Or maybe both? Idk. It's so good! The rice was consistently cooked and coated. We got this because one bowl of white rice is $1.50, so this seemed more economical (but maybe not haha) We had seconds and had one-two portions left to take home. 2. Sautéed beef with onions $17.99 - tender slices of beef and a lot of sliced onions in a sweet-ish dry soy sauce. Ratio of beef to onions is maybe 1:1.25. Onions were sweet/mild. This was the first dish we licked clean! So good! 3. Sautéed water spinach (ong choi) with fermented bean curd $13.99- I wanted something different from garlic or chili. The sauce was smooth and creamy but the hubs and kid weren't used to the taste. The only vegetable options were water spinach and cabbage. The hubs and I had seconds and maybe thirds but we still had one portion to take home. 4. Wonton in chicken broth $10.99 - no dumpling so wonton it is, which is basically the same concept! The broth was bland (probably the water in which chicken was boiled) but there were eight good-sized wontons that were tasty and packed tightly with seasoned meat. The skin didn't fall apart nor was it more skin than filling like at some places. The hubs and I had one each and the kid ate the rest! 5. Sautéed tofu with salted egg yolk $14.99 - HUGE serving of diced silken/soft tofu in a thick salted egg yolk sauce with peas and diced carrots. I love salted egg yolk and this has that taste. The tofu cubes were all intact too, none broken. This was the last to be served so we took most of it home. We didn't get any desserts or drinks. Service was efficient. Each table was given its own jug of iced water; ours was refilled once without us flagging anyone down. We placed our order online, via a QR code that's linked to the table. It's real-time so be careful what you click! I was reviewing the order when the kid took the hubs' phone and submitted the order (accidentally, he said... *roll eyes*) We waited maybe ten minutes for the first dish to be served. The only con was the wait! We waited an hour! Put our name down at 6:51pm and didn't get a table til 7:50! They were so busy there was no hostess on duty. Then I noticed the people that came after us (group of 9!) was called before us, and we discovered another party of two that came later were seated before us as well! I was about to raise a stink when they told us our table is ready. Tables were separated by DIY partitions (look like PVC pipes that have been wrapped in cling wrap) and spaced apart so there aren't very many available seats I guess. I highly, highly recommend making a reservation. Or come as close to opening time as possible during weekends. Or maybe coz it's Father's Day? There were a couple of big groups last night! And a lot of them are Chinese folks, so the food must be authentic enough. Prices are reasonable I think, for the portion size and the quality. Last call is at 8:45. But they were still seating people as we were leaving... Parking on-site is valet only. First hour is free, $2 per hour thereafter. We got done I think at around 9pm, so it's slightly after two hours. The machine charged us $4 but the attendant took off $1. read more
We have one not these in LA but never went to try it. It was late that evening and saw the other reviews and decided to come here. The wait was a little long about 45 minutes but worth being in the line. The list that came after us had to wait almost two hours. They have a menu that's digital so no worries about sharing it with others. The staff here really efficient. We ordered almost everything on their list the boiled fish and the shrimp with mixed vegetables were the best in my opinion. My kids really loved their bread sampler and dumplings. I think the noodles were too bad either. Overall you can't go wrong with any of their food. It's really spicy and delicious. Simply put I'd recommend coming here and trying their food. read more

Hi. Nope. It's a weird kinda restaurant. They open in the afternoon. You order everything on-line. The servers bring your food. They do take drink orders but no other interaction. We just showed up. The food was amazing.
How do you specify mild if you are ordering online?

It is highly recommended, particularly during the pandemic and notwithstanding our state's gradually reopening to indoor dining.
Can we customize the spice level?
You can always ask them how spicy you want the dish to be. They don't provide much of spices on the table beside normal hot sauce and things. So, I would recommend you specify it upon ordering. They are pretty good about it.
Will this a franchise make one made to order their wonderful spicy vegan broth like LA shop with no MSG?
Ask! I'm sure they will accommodate you.
Has anyone found a better Szechuan restaurant that is this clean and fair price?
There was another good restaurant called Spicy Pavilion in the Chinese Cultural Plaza, but they might be closed.
Is it BYOB?
Yes just tip a little extra because no Cork fee... don't ask for a wine bucket either and take your beer bottle with you unless you drop a fin for the mess
Is everything here spicy? My 2.5 year old will be coming with us. Is there anything on the menu that is kid friendly or not spicy?
When my family and I went, nothing we ordered was spicy at all! Maybe only one thing we ordered was spicy but totally kid friendly. Actually disappointed at how not spicy everything was! lol
