I wanted Tex mex and probably got a more authentic Mexican food experience, cuz they had beans on top of their cheese enchiladas. Apparently it's how Chepa grew up eating them. I tried several dishes including the fish tacos, nachos, cheese enchiladas, flautas and the chimichanga. Hands down, my fave was the chimichanga...usually not a fan but it was basically a fried gigantic burrito filled with the juiciest carne asada meat. I was in pure heaven. It was so good, we went back the next day so I could eat the chimichanga to myself. I devoured it like it was my last meal on earth. I'd go back and eat that dish daily. Their chips and salsa are also really good. The chips are light and airy and the salsa was also delicious. Service was 5/5

I've never had molcajete before and now I'm a fan cause of this place! It was enough for two of us and we even had some leftovers! The meats are tasty and I love the flavors in this dish. Service is good and the ambiance is nice too. Overall a great place for Mexican food based off what we got. Chips are really good too!

I asked our hotel for a recommendation for Mexican food, and the staff suggested this spot, calling it one of the best in the area. They weren't wrong. I'd come back to Texas just to eat here again. The restaurant was small and quaint, creating a cozy, welcoming atmosphere. The service was outstanding--I never once had to ask for a refill. And the food? Absolutely mouthwatering. Every bite was bursting with flavor. A truly unforgettable dining experience.

The food and service were excellent. We had cabin fever and were happy that the restaurant was open. The table side guacamole was very good. Thanks for being open.

I actually came over here to eat Asian food and noticed this restaurant at the end of the building. What an incredible find! The food and service is really good. One of those hole in the wall places you have to stumble upon by accident! The food I was served was really good! My first visit and I had the spinach and chicken enchiladas. I chose a great item. Wow! So much fresh spinach and nice chunks of shredded chicken. Could not have been better for a first time visit. My server was Bryan, and he's an impressive server. His suggestions were spot on. Grateful, for his honest input. One of those times that straight honesty rewarded us both! I wasn't going to have a drink. I changed my mind. I had the Diablo. Great pick for me. I did the frozen vs the over ice per my waiter. It had two perfectly placed frozen sliced jalapeño's placed on top. Plus, I ate them and they were super good! Glad I changed my mind and did something different. Their salsa is not good. Actually, it's horrible. It's from a can. All canned tomatoes with some jalapeños?? and dried spices tossed in. This place would be perfect if they changed their salsa recipe. It's pretty bad. Considering, everything else is really good. Not sure why they would use a short cut on the item every one tastes first at the restaurant. Makes no sense. This business would certainly benefit from a redo on the salsa. It's probably the worst sauce I've ever eaten. Otherwise, this place would be perfect!! July 2024

What a surprising find in this shopping center! We saw some great reviews and decided to give it a try. This is very authentic Mexican food. We sampled lots on their appetizer platter. The flautas were my favorite - and usually I'm not much of a flautas fan. Service was very attentive and the menu had lots of options!

My son insisted we post a picture of the chicken and French fries. In all seriousness, we come here almost every other week. Great service, good and margaritas.

What a great find! While you can't really see it from the road as it sits back in a strip mall, it is SO worth the search. We wanted something different than the average menu around here, and while they offer a lot of standards, the Molcajete is absolutely a knock-your-socks-off experience. The lava rock was piled high with beef, chick, shrimp, peppers, onions, sauce, and more. we got plenty or tortillas to go with it as well. The appetizer sampler was huge, and we took well over half our food home as there were only two of us. The dining room is exactly what you'd expect in a strip mall. That said, the service is exceptional, and everyone working there appeared to help out each other. It's a true find on McDermott Road, and we will be back sooner rather than later.

Chicken fajitas with veggies well done (per request)

Chicken Fajitas: chicken was a little overcooked but the well done veggies were as requested. The fajita setup was fresh and no negatives. The sour cream chicken enchiladas were spot on. Taste was good and sour cream sauce also solid. They added chopped jalapeños on top when requested at no charge. Service was attentive and restrooms were very clean. Overall restaurant was also clean and inviting. One last note. The guacamole on the setup and pico de gallo were very fresh and tasty.

First off, I know my internal barometer on price verses quality has not adjusted to the inflating prices, so my reviews might be harsher than usual. One thing I want to point out though, which is very strange, is that the appetizers are more expensive than the dinners, I don't know if I've ever seen this in a restaurant. The guacamole is $13.50 which is more than even fine dining Mexican restaurants, the quesadilla is $11, the shrimp cocktail is $17.50, so I'm not sure what's going on there, but they think very highly of their appetizers. It is a comfortable restaurant, nice ambience and good service. I ordered a fajita beef burrito and a sangria. The sangria was very good, not too sweet. They have a sangria swirl which is a frozen sangria, that might be sweeter for those who want that. That said, it was $10.50 which is way more pricey than I expected. The burrito was dry, I ordered the fajita beef which made it $15.50, but it didn't have a lot of beef in it, typical, mostly rice and beans. The tortilla was lukewarm, and once it got colder it became very stiff. The beef was actually really good, so maybe the fajitas are the way to go at this restaurant. The salsa here is not very flavorful, tomatoey, I asked for a hot sauce which was a green sauce, hoping it would bring more flavor with the heat, but it did not. I had the Tres Leches which was good, but dry. A Tres Leches should be soaked with milk, this one is more like a regular cake than a Tres Leches. Good, but not worth the calories. In summary, it had a nice ambience and good service, but the food was lacking. This place has good reviews so maybe the fajitas are amazing, or some other meal, or it's just the margaritas, but their burrito at $16 was far inferior to a burrito I get at a hole in a wall Mexican place. The burrito was dry,

Meh....the salsa was meh. The queso was meh. The nachos was meh. The sour cream chicken enchiladas.....meh. The server was nice, but understaffed sort of busy. And the place had weird acoustics in that it was loud and very hard to have a normal conversation, so we just sat there mostly. I wouldn't say no if someone wanted to go there, but I won't pick it again. read more

Eaten here probably about a hundred times in the last 3 years. Best things on the menu - Brocheta de camerones, Mexican Guiso, Conchita Pibil, Chicharron, shrimp enchiladas, table side quacamole, milanese de pollo, birria chimichanga (off menu). They also make a killer paloma with a tajin rimmed glass. Love this place so much. read more

This is in a mall lot. The inside has white walls. The place is clean and open. Service is friendly and quick.we have been here several times the food is good but some plates are great and some just ok. Recommend the fajitas and the guiso. read more

I came minutes before closing and they were the nicest they could be! Super clean restaurant, nice decor and amazing food! It was me and the staff and they all treated me like a KING! I received chips and salsa upon sitting down and they offered me the drink specials for the night. (I won't say if I did or did not order lol). It's late but I don't mix not want fast food and I wanted to sit down and relax. They totally accommodated me. Three screens with gold, auto racing and football on the the tube. I ordered chicken enchiladas with beans and rice and it was the best and the freshest I've ever had!!! This visit could not have been any better, I highly recommend them for great food and fine service! I can't wait to return and experience great food and service Jesus was a fantastic server! read more

Husband and I went for lunch. Only one other table occupied so it was definitely not busy. We showed the server the picture of what we wanted from their FB page. Looked nothing like what we received. Their salsa tasted like blended tomatoes, no flavor. We asked for a hot salsa and boy was it. Their queso with guac and pico was delish! read more

Cute place inside a strip mall storefront. Various dishes were all good but the two best dishes were the fajitas and mulcajete. Chips and salsa were also quite good. Dishes did take awhile to come out...especially the last one, which was an extra 5 min after everyone else finally got their food. read more

Being Texan I feel I am always on the hunt for a good Mexican food joint! I didn't grab pictures of the three other dishes at the table since it slipped my mind but it looks like a traditional Mexican restaurant food plate. The service was so wonderful we were quick to be seated Waters all-around drink orders were taken and throughout the rest of the meal we were checked on accordingly brought more salsa without asking overall such an amazing experience for service five stars! The food however left little to be desired. we had a good mix of everything (tacos tamales and enchiladas). Salsa such a tricky thing to get right sometimes but this was a big miss for us since there really was no spice and the consistency was watery, my tamale was really dense and hard - and the ends were chewy, the tacos, cheese and brisket enchiladas were pretty standard. The chepas tacos and margaritas though were outstanding! Pro tip: get those! read more

I ate here the first time on a whim. It's not far from my new home and I had tried another Mexican food place and thought I would give this one a try. This was wonderful. I took my sister, from Tulsa here to see if my outstanding food from the first time would hold up a second time. It did! We both got fajita plates. I got shrimp and chicken and my sister got beef and chicken. The chicken is the star really. They do chicken right! The service was great the portion sizes were huge. This is our go to Mexican restaurant. We've tried several others but those do not compare favorably. Checkout those margaritas (get a swirl), they're among the best. And we are not the only ones who think this, so come early or you'll probably have to wait for a while - especially at Friday & Saturday dinner time. See you there on Fridays! read more

Chepa's is a hidden gem! My husband and I first ate there 5 years ago right before we headed out of town to Vegas to go get married! We now go every Friday night! No one even knew about this place 5 years ago and now flash forward to 2022 and if you ask online where the best Mexican food is in Allen, many will say Chepa's. The margaritas are everyone's favorite! And anything brisket is so good here!! read more

The absolute worst "Mexican" food we have ever had. Queso was flavorless. Salsa tasted like it came from a jar. Tacos were bland. Waitress was rushing us from the moment we sat down gave us literally 20 seconds to look at the menu. 1 star because it's cheap-- food reflects the cost though. All the good reviews are seriously questionable. Skip this place. read more

Warm and the salsa was good. I like the cilantro rice. I got a beef and a sour cream enchilada, but the sour cream enchilada came more cheese sauce really didn't taste any sour cream and the chicken was dusted like a rancher sauce, which I didn't care. read more

Carne asada was cooked to my son-in-law 's preference. Plain queso no flavor and pasty . Tamales had very little meat.... Tons of masa. Cheese enchiladas very bland. Crispy tacos had plenty of meat ... plenty of tomato lettuce and shredded cheese provided to make your own. Meat wasn't greasy but not much flavor... taco shell crisp. Fish tacos ( beer battered) were served burnt brown... they were redone but almost same brown. Fish cooks fast even with batter so no reason to look like that.. affects the taste . Air conditioning not working and my son-in-law's shirt was all wet by time we finished our meal. We drove from Wylie to join daughter's family... first time for all of us but we won't be back.... read more

The food is good. From what I remember, that is. I think I ordered enchiladas, and the enchiladas were mighty tasty. I know I ordered a drink. That's why I can't remember what I ordered to eat. That drink. One drink. That's all it took. Now, I'm not a daily drinker. I'm a once-in-awhile get a margarita or Michelada type of drinker. I'm talking once a month, if even that, kind of drinker. That Blue Margarita: It's a doozy. Dinner went like this: Order. Talk. Eat chips. Get drink. Take a sip of the Blue Margarita. Eat chips. Talk. Take a sip of the Blue Margarita. Talk, Talk louder. Take a slurp of the Blue Margarita. Laugh. Straw and mouth become one in the Blue Margarita. Laugh louder. Talk. Get dinner. Slurp up the rest of the Blue Margarita. Eat dinner with hopes to hit mouth with forkfuls of food. Mouth? What's a mouth? Laugh even louder. Is your house on fire, Clark? Are we eating on a Merry-Go-Round? Whew! It's hot in here. Are you hot? Why don't they turn on the AC?! Here's my money. I'm going outside. Stumble out the door. It's a good thing I wasn't driving that night. Great selection on the menu but very mediocre food at best. Nobody greeted us when we walked in and the servers barely communicated at all. One lady also kept grabbing plates from our table that we were still working on without asking if we were finished. I wouldn't go back because of how poor the service was. read more

Shut the front door.......hello something different and tasty with this joint?!?! I love the Quesabirria tacos here! Very well done! Get the loaded queso too! Street tacos are really a great choic and the chicken pollo dish is perfect! They have a slight more "authentic" taste and menu than the run of the mill neighborhood Mexican food diner. Small, family run business worth spending you hard earned time and money at! We do about every 10 days or so! read more

We mostly go for brunch, love the chilaquiles and my husband loves the Huevos Mexicanos. Also had the fish tacos and they were the bomb. Did have some issues with the fajitas, the steak was a little tough. read more

We went for lunch and were so glad we did! This place is tasty and inexpensive. I had the lettuce wraps were muy delisioso and I had grilled veggies instead of beans and or rice. They were SO GOOD!! I was very impressed with the staff and the food! I'll definitely be back! read more

When I asked for a different table, they seemed hesitant but eventually cleaned one off. It wasn't the best first impression, but I was willing to move past it. Thankfully, my server more than made up for it. They were incredibly attentive, checking in at just the right moments and ensuring I had everything I needed.
