We used to go here all the time when it was Bayside Cafe...we left for a long time and decided to come back. It is sooo good! Some of the best seafood we have found in the area. My husband and I have been a few times. The calamari appetizer is delicious. The fried shrimp has so much flavor and is huge. Had lunch with two friends, to start NE clam chowder and service was nice. From there it went south... Two of us ordered fish and chips - calling it that was a reach. A proper name would be "The 2 Fish Sticks and Potato Strings of Disappointment ." The other ordered the Oyster Poor Boy, this failed to impress. I don't think any of us would return. read more

So excited for The new Chesapeake to be back! LV lost an iconic restaurant years ago when the original left town and none of the subsequent replacements were good and therefore, didn't last long. But so happy to say, this version will last! The New England clam chowder is as amazing as the original, same recipe. The fried calamari was tender and not just the circle cuts. The real deal. Mango chutney to dip, sweet with heat. Nice! Only there for lunch so can't talk about much but a friend had salmon with black rice at a recent dinner visit and loved it. 4 stars because prices too high (for dinner, lunch was fine). Looking forward to the wood oven flatbread in the Fall. Most definitely will be back. The sooner, the better! read more

I am so happy that we have a top notch seafood restaurant nearby. My husband started with the stuffed oysters which he said were tender and tasty. Reminiscent of Oysters Rockefeller but more creamy. We had the choose your own option which lets you pick from several seafood options and 1 of 4 sauces. I had the blackened scallops with Chimichurri sauce. The blackening was subtle and let the nice size, sweet scallops shine. The sauce was great. My husband had shrimp with scampi sauce. Sides were vege of the day (green beans done perfectly) and rice pilaf, fries, mashed potatoes and grits (get the grits!) We enjoyed a creme brûlée which was a great size for sharing. Our server Alexa was friendly and knowledgeable. She gave us the right amount of time between each course and we were well taken care of. Lots of choices for both sea and land lovers. Ate there for the first time last night and it was fantastic. Great atmosphere, awesome staff and the food was incredible. Mussels in red sauce with pieces of sausage and olives was brilliant! And sometimes it's the little things - when we said we'd split a salad, it was served already split (other restaurants never do this unless you ask and they don't love it when you ask) and wine was served in a chilled glass. We will definitely be back - looking forward to sitting in the great outdoor section. read more

I have been here several times and went again tonight for Valentine's Day. Mushroom soup and clam chowder were both terrific. I had crab cakes and my husband got the mussels special and both were delicious. Very attentive friendly service, owner making the rounds to each table which you almost never see. We went on Friday, the night after Thanksgiving with a party of 4. While sitting at the Brew Pub enjoying a flight of beer, we called over to see if they had availability (on a side note, the Brew Pub gave us a number for them, but yet did not have a line for them, which is strange as they have the same owners). They had seating and when we arrived a couple of minutes later, the restaurant was not crowded at all. To start, we had the tuna tartare, spinach dip with crab, and oysters. I did not try the oysters (East Coast) but heard they were salty and fresh. The tuna tartare was fantastic, I loved the homemade wontons, and the crab dip was delicious. For dinner, I had the scallops with autumn vegetables. I loved the vegetables, but the scallops were slightly underwhelming. They were small, and they did not melt in your mouth like a perfectly cooked scallop will. My brother in law had the fish and chips, which he loved, the only downside is that we had to request malt vinegar to go with them. For dessert, we shared the peanut butter cookie. That made the meal! All in all, a good meal, we will go back! read more

I wish I could give this 2.5 stars. I've had varying experiences there. A few months ago they had a new "special sauce" that I was excited to try with my cod. Tasted like burnt balsamic vinegar. I've had the cod with other sauces and it was good but never anything amazing. The inside is nice enough, got some really basic nautical themed stuff nailed to the wall but whatever. Wait staff has always been good, no complaints there. On at least one occasion me and one other person came for dinner and for some reason they sat us in the bar area even though happy hour was over and the area was rather full. Did not really appreciate that. All and all just an OK place. For me, seafood is pretty pricey at restaurants so unless a place has really good stuff I'd rather just make it at home and save the money. Again, that's me. read more

I like this restaurant a lot, but prefer it for lunch. The lighting at night is kind of blue and cold (dark). Not real warm or inviting. But we are lucky to have this restaurant here, very nice food. Happened upon the restaurant while thinking of patronizing another in the restaurant village in Long Valley. Atmosphere was pleasant and inviting inside. Surf and turf type Menu that is farm to table with reasonable prices. Server was excellent, attentive and engaging without being overly so. We had the fire roasted pork loin medallions and the organic salmon, both were fantastic in every way. One of the better meals we have had in a long time. read more

We went here with my 3 kids (one of the three is a baby) totally unplanned. The staff was so friendly and made me feel comfortable dining out with my kids. The food was fantastic and reasonably priced. The kids menu includes drink and dessert and was good sized portions. I had salmon tacos with a side of rice and beans all delicious! My husband had the crab cake meal which he also said was great. They have a decent selection of beers on tap to choose from. First timer today for lunch at Chesapeake. Had a great experience starting with the onion soup and calamari, entrees of scallops and crab-cake. Scallops were very fresh, seared nicely, delicious and served attractively. Crab-cakes were all meat. Service friendly, attentive, genuine and with no mistakes. Will definitely return. read more

My wife and I finally had the chance to visit this restaurant last night and were very impressed. Started off with a Kane Head High IPA (very good beer and wine selection), then the Kale and Crabmeat Salad with Fish Tacos as main course. For dessert, I had the Key Lime Pie (made on premises). Tried the Chesapeake Tavern for the first time last week. I was greeted by a friendly server named Jenn, who explained the menu and told me about a new drink that was sweeping the nation. Was there for the 1st time last week. My friend ordered the soft shell crabs special. Came with 3 baby ones, told the waitress and she told the chef he said they r jumbos! Not even close to medium. They were just average when we left told manager and another guy manager nice other guy had a bit of an attitude. Said they would have brought over more so y didn't waitress or chef do that. Said they would give us a desert to take home just what we wanted. Other restaurants would have give us off this bill or tell us to come back another time for something. read more

I was unfortunately not as impressed as I hoped to be after reading several 5 star reviews. I went on a Wednesday night with a party of 3 and we started with a bowl of clam chowder, fried calamari (recommended by the waitress) and a spinach salad. The spinach salad was excellent, fresh and tasty and dressed perfectly. The clam chowder was good, a little too thick for my taste, but generally flavorful. The fried calamari was mostly breading, a small portion and very unimpressive. I will say when my mother expressed her displeasure with the calamari they were apologetic and removed it from the bill. On to entrees...I had a quinoa bowl with squash, mushrooms and something else that was very tasty. My mom had the fish tacos which were mediocre, served with cold rice and a spoonful of cold beans. My brother had the "full serving" of crab cakes which were flavorful but not overwhelming. The full portion consisted of two very small cakes and some French fries for $36. My mom also complained about that but we were kind of embarrassed by that point and shrugged it off. Finished with a cobbler, also okay, nothing spectacular. The server was very friendly, the atmosphere was nice, but to pay $110 for the meal I described (before tip and with no beverages) was not thrilling. I'm happy to pay for good food, but this wasn't really it. I may try again and try some different things based on other reviews...for now I'm just feeling lukewarm about this place. read more

Was hesitant to try Chesapeake because I don't eat fish. Didn't matter. Sat at the bar and Jade was awesome. Started with what they call "The best salad ever". Not a lie! Between the hen egg and the truffle dressing....decadent. I had a special appetizer as my entree. Duck leg confit over crispy grit cake, peas and andouille sausage. Great combo.
