We love this very local, quaint Cafe that serves very homemade food, great service to top. As you can see Marilyn has some very interesting collectible memorabilia throughout her restaurant. A great place to visit. Enjoy some freshly prepared homemade delicious food.

Coffee, eclectic decor and one very happy customer!

Marilyn's cafe is exactly the kind of hole in the wall establishment I'm seeking when searching for a breakfast spot. Good food in large proportions and coffee that's getting refilled in a timely manner in cups that are hysterical, depending on which one you get! We loved it so much the first time that we came back for Thanksgiving breakfast. It's family operated and giving grandma vibes, which creates an aura of a 70s brunch spot you'd be happy to end up at after a long night of dropping acid in the nearby woods. You gotta love maximalism to really appreciate the decor, and even though I trend towards minimalist I wouldn't have it any other way. Order a pie slice at your own peril! They serve them big

This place was small and cozy but beautiful, with all the walls covered in Marilyn Monroe-inspired artwork. Keep in mind that this café only accepts cash. There's an ATM at a pizza place next door, though the fee is $6. As for drink options, they don't offer fresh-squeezed juices or smoothies, which was disappointing, but they do have typical sodas, bottled juice, tea, and coffee. The home fries and sausage were delicious and highly recommended. The pancakes were decent, though I wish they were fluffier. I asked for scrambled eggs, but they looked more like an omelette and needed more salt. Please note that this café is not wheelchair-friendly. The tables are very close together, and the aisles are not wide enough for a wheelchair to pass through to the bathroom. The bathroom itself is very small; when using the toilet, you touch the wall, which can be uncomfortable for larger individuals.

We love this small cozy local place. Serves homemade food and service is top notch. The walls are covered with Marilyn Monroe's memorabilia. This cafe only accepts cash.

Such a cute place with good size portions. But the of the food is at the lower end. A glass of tap New Jersey water is not available.

Excellent service. Fun ambiance. Runny eggs. Awful crepes. High prices. Cash only. I will pay a premium for great food but not their food.

Great food great environment. Quick service just overpriced drinks. $4 for a cup coffee and $4.50 for one soda is a bit extreme.

We ordered the cornbread special, the porchetta sandwich special, and the biscuits and gravy. Everything was fresh, filling, and delicious. The porchetta sandwich was flavorful, though I personally found a few pieces a bit fatty with some skin, which wasn't my preference. The biscuits and cornbread on the other hand were fantastic! I also loved the cozy setup inside and the fun idea of having games to play while you dine. The staff was friendly and helpful, which made the experience even better! 4.5! These days, while I appreciate the attempt in making the interior more inviting (think Mid-Century modern vibes), this is "order & pay at the counter" type of service, with significantly reduced menu options (mostly sandwiches), and given the pricing the food itself wasn't satisfying unfortunately (we had Falafel wrap and Pren Burger, both of which I would probably have done much better at home-lacking flavors overall, plastic dishes, falafels were basically mashed chickpeas). As for recommending to others,I'd say this may still be worth a stop for a coffee and maybe a boardgame sitdown-definitely don't expect amazing food :/ Overall, since my priority when eating out is food,I'm disappointed and not returning,sorry..!

The large, attractive building features a lot of blue and white that almost gives it seashore vibe. There's a sizable outdoor dining area with plenty of tables shaded with umbrellas and even a row of American flags billowing in the wind. So, not being familiar with Chester, and not seeing any other restaurants nearby, I decided to pull in for lunch. It was a bit too cold to eat outside, so I sat in their dining room, which was spacious and attractive, but surprisingly empty given that it was the height of lunch time. After a quick glance at the menu, I immediately spotted what I wanted, the Firecracker Chicken Sandwich. This was for me! Buttermilk marinated chicken, deep fried with a seasoned firecracker crust, served on a ciabatta roll with spicy carrot slaw, herb-buttermilk mayo, fries, and a pickle. Sadly, the description on the menu was the best thing about the sandwich. What I got was an unimpressive looking chicken sandwich that had been overcooked and was devoid of any moisture, tenderness or flavor. It simply wasn't edible. To their credit, they took it back without question and asked if I'd prefer something else. I choose a roasted turkey tea sandwich on multi-grain bread with a side salad. This was definitely better, but still not great. Perhaps Redwoods Grill & Bar is more in their zone for dinner service and maybe this was just an off day, however, based on my experience there, at least as far as the food goes, Redwoods Grill & Bar isn't a place I can really recommend. I should mention that this review was written In September, when I was there, but I forgot to post it, so perhaps it's different now.

The amaretto iced coffee is smooth, slightly sweet, and easy to drink, and the chocolate chip scone understood the assignment, buttery, loaded with chips, and gone way too fast. Outside, there's a festive little setup with lights, a giant present looking entrance (Santa clearly approves), and a tiny free library because caffeine and books are a power combo. Bonus points for enjoying the coffee from the car like a true commuter philosopher. Is this the kind of coffee that'll change your life? No. Is it the kind that makes your morning better and your drive more tolerable? Absolutely. The two baristas are elite: no small talk, no life stories, just order pour go.
