Food is a 4: tasty, plentiful and reasonably priced. You can pick from sitting at a booth or round table. Service is a 1.5, you really need to be an advocate for yourself and be aggressive to track someone down to order, however once you do---food comes out quickly. Parking is easy and free. Very old school Chinatown vibes---so go with that in mind.... Would come back.

I've been to the Cheung Hing in Millbrae and it's decent. This was my first time at this location. Ordered the wonton noodle soup and the broth was super salty. The 2 pieces of bok choy had dirt in between the leaves. The to go order took forever. Service is typical for a Chinese restaurant.

Not to be confused with the Cheung Hing for dimsum a 6minute drive away... be sure to triple check the location. The interior was nice, lots going on with food brought out after a decent time. We really liked the roast duck and the fried dough, the chow fun wasn't mixed very well and the clams didn't taste too fresh. Total came out to $62 -- they calculate tip after tax so beware.

One of my favorite places to order affordable Chinese food. I especially love their bbq pork/roast duck over rice dish. Other dishes are delish is scramble egg chow fun! If you see sticky rice at the register, do yourself a favor and buy it! They are really good. 2 STARS - Service is slowwwww 4 STARS - Food flavor

BBQ Pork very generous portion and very tasty!

My first time trying Cheung Hing, pretty good! I've heard a lot of chatter about this restaurant's meats and thought I'd give them a try on a Winter, rainy day. My focus was their variety of BBQ and roasted meats. I ordered to-go Egg Flower Soup, Mushroom Chicken, BBQ Pork and Combination Fried Rice. The BBQ Pork is really good and true to Chinese cuisine. It's hard to find an entree of BBQ Pork in the area. Portions are generous! Mushroom Chicken and Combination Fried Rice is really good, too. Mushroom Chicken is great over the rice. I didn't care for their version Egg Flower Soup, with bits of zucchini. I miss Egg Drop Soup accompanied by crunchy little, noodles to sprinkle on top. It's super hard to find. Everything was packaged nicely for to-go. They've got a large menu with lots of options for whatever you're craving. I was craving BBQ Pork. Definitely give them a try, especially if you enjoy BBQ and roasted duck, pork and chicken. They have larger platters of meats for parties or families. The duck looks amazing!

It took me a while to finally check this place out, it's in the old Uncle Chen's location. Quality was ok, service slow but we went late on a Tuesday night so can't really complain. For the price and quality, it's a solid choice if you are craving some comforting Chinese food. We had some chicken fried rice (tons of chicken!), beef chow fun, and egg rolls. Big portions, well seasoned, not overly greasy. Hit the spot and I will check them out again, the roast duck and pork on the menu looked good, will have to check those out next time.

If I could give 0 stars i really would. We Really wanted to eat some duck over rice , and was so disappointed, duck was raw. Pot stickers tasted a bit funny unusual. Egg rolls were cold in the middle, only hot layer was the fried skin. Needless to say we will not come here again. We didn't finish the food, we paid to get plates dirty since nothing was eaten only tasted and came home disgusted although we were so hungry .

Came here yesterday for lunch with a cousin and my Aunt. We were on a mission to try several (8!) dishes, plus steamed rice in preparation for my Aunt's upcoming birthday lunch which will be here in December (currently November)... Pros- many of the dishes were quite tasty. My favorites were the braised tofu with bok choy, and a 50/50 platter of their bbq pork and crispy pork dishes. The meats were super tender and juicy, almost melted in my mouth. The bok choy was light, a nice contrast to the other dishes which combined became quite heavy. My Aunt's favorite was also the braised tofu with bok choy, followed by their sweet and sour chicken, then their honey walnut prawns. The restaurant is not fancy, but it was packed (every table was in use!) with really nice patrons. The tables around us were extremely friendly, one table brought us take out containers when they went to get their own (so nice, right!)! And other folks came by to wish my Aunt a happy birthday... it was a restaurant, but almost felt like we were at someone's home. Cons- the staff didn't seem to communicate with one another... while we were a table of 3 guests, we ordered a ton of food and asked the initial waitress for a larger table. She combine our small four top table with a two top, all the other waitresses tried to take it away seeing only the 3 of us, so we had to explain our situation to 3 of their other waitresses. I would have thought after the first one, they'd all know our situation, but that didn't happen. My cousin (cousin-in-law) goes to this spot a lot with her family. She mentioned their lobster noodles were amazing, so we ordered the $9.99 special since we had well over the $88.88 order requirement. Perhaps I didn't mix it enough or it was a bad day, but that was my least favorite dish... and I generally love lobster and noodles! Otherwise, we all enjoyed our lunch! The food in general was very good and the people around us were extremely nice and gave the spot a very homey feel. Was a fun time! Note - it does get super busy, luckily I suggested we get there around 11:30, by 12:07 it was literally packed with people waiting outside.

A good meal today. Salt and pepper pork chops and salt and pepper chicken wings. Fish and eggplant in garlic sauce clay pot. Tomato and beef pan fried noodle. Combination chow mein. Lobster chow mein. Nice.

Still a favorite go-to restaurant for very good Cantonese food. Always great to eat familiar and new dishes. Consistent quality and reasonable prices. Love this place.

I come back here so many times just for their clay pot rice. There are many options to choose from Chinese sausage, pork, beef, chicken, or fish in a mini clay pot. I always get the preserved sausage and pork rice in clay. I can smell the delicious aroma as the staff mixed the crispy rice with the soy sauce. The sizzling Chinese sausage definitely adds another layer of sweetness to the pot. The best part of this is savoring the charred rice on the bottom of the pot. Apart from the amazing clay pot, I also loved their flavorful and juicy roasted duck. And the service was always super fast.

    The Roast Duck lunch special.

I came here on a lark and I'm glad I did. For some reason, all of a sudden upon reading the menu, I had a hankering for their Roast Duck. Maybe the aroma or whatever, it's what I ordered. When my order came, it was visually delightful and spot on if it's curb appeal you're looking for. The lunch special was generous and I enjoyed every bite of the meal. And not to be stereotypical, I also noticed that as the patrons drifted in, they were all Asians, so there must be some genuine authenticity to their food. I give these folks a thumbs up!

Ask the Community - Cheung Hing

There's another one in Belmont? Are there two or did they move and one is closed? Thanks!

There are two. One in Belmont and one at this location.

Are they related to the Cheng Hing in SF?

I believe so, as they always ask and verify that you are ordering from the San Mateo location and not the Millbrae or SF ones when you order out.

    What is the WiFi password?

    It's their phone number

    Do they accept credit cards?

    Yes

Are they owned by the old owners?

Not the same owners as uncle Chen’s if that is your question. This restaurant is run by the same family that has the restaurants of the same name in Millbrae and San Francisco.

Staff was friendly and the price was beyond reasonable. However, taste and quality were definitely more aligned to "home cooking" if you know what I mean. ;p Overall, everything tasted REALLY bland and lacked flavors. 1. Skip the congee- tasted like plain water boiled with cooked rice (yuck). 2. The pork chop was dried and lacked flavors. It was overcooked because it was cut toooo thin 3. The stuffed chicken wing was bland, but the sauce kinda made up for it 4. The bitter melon beef was surprisingly delicious. It got "wok hei" which i didn't taste from the other dishes 5. The yee mein noodle tasted REALLY bland. I wonder if it was the same sous chef that made the congee. I don't think I will be coming back anytime soon.

The sauce was delicious, rich, and comforting without being overwhelming. Everything was cooked just right and came out piping hot. Hit or Miss: Hit. It's eh, kinda priced up though for sure…read more My go to is a baked dish. The quality kinda varies- the baked fish fillet with white cream sauce was good. Cheesy, tender, egg fried rice was flavorful. Portion kinda small, as the dish was very shallow. Not a lot of rice. Kinda off tho when it was the first dish that arrived to the table and it was lukewarm. I find a baked dish is typically always last since it needs time to bake, and is served scalding hot imo. That's when you know it's done right. This wasn't that. Suss The baked pork chop with cheese and tomato sauce was so disappointing and super greasy/heavy. The meat was chewy and had an unpleasant flavor. The tomato sauce was not good either. The shrimp wonton noodle soup I sadly cannot recommend, the filling was not good. Had more pork than shrimp consistency. I did not enjoy the flavor. Not aromatic. I will say, the noodles were great quality. Thin, bouncy, correct texture. What you would hope for. The soup was not good. The roast duck was good, with tender meat and fatty skin. Flavorful with the plum sauce. The fish congee was good, though a bit too runny imo once cooled down. The fried donut (you tiao) was crunchy and very doughy. Would be nice if they could slice it. I can agree with everyone about their thoughts on the 18% mandatory tip fee, it's crazy lol. Mandatory service fee for hk service (which is minimal service). It was so hard to flag down the waiter for refilling water, or to get more napkins. The place was empty and they were on their phone the whole time. Waiting for that automatic tip. Whatever man.
