Class class class! If you've been to Paris you'll appreciate this place! Stephane, the chef, and staff are experienced and know what they're doing when it comes to providing fine dining experience and quality. This place so a Jersey gem. Possibly the best French around!

Friday 6:30om Someone got my mom a gc for her bday and she decided to bring me with her to try the restaurant. Though it's a commute from the city , I'm glad I got to try the restaurant but also share the experience with my mom. There aren't a lot of 3 or 4 course meals in nj ( that I know of ) and it's nice to see this level of restaurant. We had the 3 course and got the risotto , seafood tartar, diver sole , cote de boeuf , soufflé and chocolate mousse. I had a nice glass of sav follows by a Pinot noir . The place is traditional french , small , cozy ( perfect for a formal date place ) , the service is great ( it's a white glove restaurant) - gramercy tavern like and feel . While I enjoyed the experience , I'm a bit concerned the longevity of the business . I don't know if maybe because it's a summer Friday but the place wasn't too full . I did jokingly asked / recommended that they make the place more of a bagatelle place ( vibey , trendy ) but I also understand that they want to keep it more traditional and is probably the draw for the older schooled customers . Sometimes restaurants have to adapt and try a different concept but if they've been open this long , then maybe they're doing something right and I understand the demand . I would come here for a special occasion , they offer prix fix for dinner and a la carte during lunch which I wish I knew prior to making dinner reservations.

Very nice service. Generally attentive. Small place with maybe 6 tables. It's nice and quiet with couples and small groups. Food was good, not great. I would say all generally cooked well but for me lacked some depth in flavors. They were all good but didn't knock me out of the park. Service was spectacular. Cute spot for a safe night! We didn't drink that night but the wine selection is spectacular!

Nice date night spot with classic French cooking! Great service and the food was beautifully executed. We had escargot, mussels, steak tartare, melon/ham, steak, duck, tiramisu, and creme brûlée. Not a bad dish in the bunch. The complimentary bread was fantastic as well- warm and crunchy! My steak was served medium well instead of medium rare and they replaced it for me. Can't wait to come back!

Great experience here, would give 4.8 stars. They have a good drink menu with mixed drinks and wine. They offer a limited menu but it was delicious. Service was personal and unrushed. 1. Mussels - Delicious broth, not too much volume. 2. Escargot - Not as oily as I've had at other places but still very good. 3. Dover sole - Prepared and filet'd in front of you. Soft, buttery and good amount. 4. Blueberry cup - Loaded with blueberries. Warm fruit cup. 5. Creme brulee - Perfectly made. Classic flavor. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant for a romantic or special occasion. The owner/waiter made it a fun night.

This is probably my 5th time here and I've never been disappointed here. The cocktails are excellent The appetizers are always good and generous amount. The steak and the veal chop were very tender and flavorful. The desserts were also unique. I like the fact that they use a lot of egg white based desserts. Would return again for another special occasion!

It was a nice, quiet space, and the live music on a Tuesday was a pleasant touch- they played some Beatles and Simon & Garfunkel, among other classics. Unfortunately, the food was hit or miss. The bread that came out was terrible- hard, inedible, and honestly better left off the table. The brie and raspberry in puff pastry was okay but unimpressive, with very little cheese inside. It didn't even look like they used egg wash on the puff pastry. At least make it nice, give it a golden glow. On the bright side, the lobster ravioli was delicious, and my friend enjoyed his mussels with chorizo, though he felt the chorizo was lacking. He didn't expect it to come on a bed of penne, while the portion was generous he was avoiding pasta. None of the desserts sounded appealing enough to try. As for drinks, my smoky old-fashioned was so overwhelmingly smoky that I had a lingering campfire aftertaste in my mouth longer than I would have liked. Overall, if you're looking for a quiet spot with live music, it's not a bad choice. But the food and drinks were inconsistent, and I wouldn't rush back.

The rigatoni had grilled chicken, fresh rigatoni, homemade marinara cream, Parmigiano Reggiano, and Calabrian chilis. This was very tasty. The chilis provided a spicy factor to this dish. The grilled chicken was cooked appropriately and paired well with the pasta. The risotto had tomatoes, artichoke, and mushrooms. Like mentioned, this was supposed to have artichoke, but it seemed like asparagus was used instead. This was a little plain. It needed more seasoning, specifically salt, pepper, and cheese. The risotto was cooked just right though. Will I go back? I was not present but probably would head there.

It was my first time doing karaoke and I honestly don't know that I would do it again. We booked a karaoke room for an hour for 6 people on a Thursday evening, and while the singing was fun, the service was below subpar. When we arrived, we did not have a full menu available to us in the room, so it took a few mins to get our order in. Our server kept close tabs of every minute in karaoke, but not the food. It took over 60 minutes to get our wings! Apparently there was some sort of mix up in the kitchen & while we were understanding, what threw us for a loop was that even though our wings were DELAYED, our server was hesitant to offer complimentary time in our karaoke room while we waited. Right at the 60-minute mark, he was quick to offer two options - our wings to go or a table in the dining room. In the end, we had to negotiate an extra hour in the karaoke room since our food took SO long to come out. When paying the check, we were surprised to see a charge for food we never ever received! I'm super disappointed that they tried to take advantage of us, when we were very understanding of their mix up. In my opinion, servers could use a lesson or two in customer service. Never in my time in hospitality, have I ever behaved in the way they did.

I dared to try the cauliflower wings (half & half), which actually wasn't bad. Both flavors was good, although I personally like the spicy better (just make sure you can handle it, although it won't be too bad if you're used to spicy food). Garlic fried rice was okay, but not the best. Also seems like they don't give you a side of pickled radish at this point, but maybe that's because we're in Jersey. Also the kimchi fries weren't what I expected. What the fries were crispy and tasty, they just give you a tiny cup of kimchi cheese sauce. Maybe I'm spoiled, but I expected the fries to be way more loaded. I ordered for pickup and it did take a lot longer than expected. I also felt sorry for the hostess, who was running around trying to help. There also was 5 people just standing around chatting, but the music was just a tad too loud to hear anyone trying to get their attention. I'm sure dining in would be a chill vibe, but can still have that and have it all together yk? Last thing is I definitely asked for bacon mustard sauce and heard them confirm over the phone, a bit annoyed they forgot that!

I picked it knowing the solid rep of Jessica's Cafe in Plainfield, so I can't say I was stunned to find out this was awesome - but given the expectations coming in, this probably even slightly exceeded them. Pretty cool. This was literally my first time in Fanwood, unless you count taking the Raritan Valley Line through here to Hunterdon County back in the day (I don't think it counts). The weather was a little iffy throughout the day, which I'm assuming played a factor in the town feeling a little desolate when we showed up. It reminds me a lot of the Newport neighborhood in JC - super, super gentrified. Maybe it's just the section where Jessica's is though, right across the street from the train station. We parked over there, not entirely sure if that was naughty or not, but given our outdoor seating, we easily could have peeped a cop or tow truck driver before anything terrible happened (I think it was fine, given it was a Sunday night). All that to say though, I'm not entirely sure where the ideal parking is if it's not at the train station. We were only in the restaurant for a minute (enough time to ogle a fridge or freezer of tasty looking meat to the right of the entrance), so I can't speak to the spiffiness of the interior. Even though rain was a possibility, it seemed worth the risk to stay outside due to the temps and large umbrellas. No regrets in that regard. We were seated promptly and ordered shortly thereafter, while also receiving some decent bread and butter with a bit of olive oil drizzle. Quite tasty. Somehow it's become an informal tradition, but if it's on the menu we usually get the Grilled Octopus. One of the better ones we've had. Nice and crispy (texture to me is the key to this one) and seasoned well. The accompanying potatoes were a nice touch to the proceedings - would totally get this again. A lot of the other apps looked good too, but someone accidentally made me birthday weenies on the grill earlier, so I couldn't get QUITE as frisky as I normally would. Both of us gave the lamb a long, hard look (and my chum wondered aloud about the ribeye special for the rest of the evening - possibly the one that got away) but I ultimately went with my classic Short Ribs entree. Delicious. Tender, flavorful and the perfect serving size. I was a little nervous that a puree versus mashed would mean the potatoes were too wet or liquidy, but not the case at all - they maintained their relatively solid integrity as far as I was concerned. I forgot to take a picture of dessert, but I got the Creme Brule. Also excellent, and at the perfect temp. I think there may have been a birthday musical accompaniment with that, but it's all a blur. Arguably just as good if not better was the service. Our waiter was super personable and professional, stopping by regularly and just added a hospitable touch to the meal that brought this to the upper echelon for me. Service is king, and it matters - you can't take for granted the ability of your server to essentially riff for two minutes on their menu knowledge, as well as just good-natured banter. Had that in spades. Coming back for sure - Womb Exit Anniversary or not.
