Really enjoyed this spot from the moment we walked in! Made a reservation for a Friday night (good thing we did!) and it was definitely pretty busy. There was someone playing live music which added to the vibe and really set the ambiance for our dinner. Nice touch with industrial looking lights in the front room (there were two sort of separate dining areas) and nice for just grabbing a drink at the bar or a sit down dinner. We sat in the back room that has a cute sign. It was sort of tucked away from the live music but we had more room at our table and you could still hear it very well. Our waiter was very kind and attentive even with how busy they were which was appreciated. We started with escargots that had a delicious, warm, and fresh puff pastry on top. We decided to try the warm brie as well and the honey on top made it even better. The scallops with risotto were larger than we thought and so so tasty. We got the duck as well which was large and flavorful. Unfortunately, they were out of the beef bourguignon, so we'll have to try it next time! We were too stuffed for dessert, but we did check out their cafe next door that is connected to the restaurant. We didn't get anything but probably would have if we had room for some pastries. Wow, we couldn't have been happier with our experience at lunch yesterday at Chez Fabian. We met some friends there late, around 2:00, expecting it to be empty, but found a bustling, but not overflowing crowd of patrons enjoying a late lunch on a beautiful afternoon, outside on the patio and a few indoors as well. I love the menu that had "something for everyone", but outstanding sandwiches and salads, not to mention the baked goods. I really loved my 1/2 sandwich (French Dip) and salad (wedge). The sandwich was a little stingy on the shaved prime rib, but it was delicious and the horseradish aioli was perfect on the Scoville scale--not too hot, but visibly there. The salad on the other hand was generously portioned, and topped with real bacon bits, bleu cheese crumbles and balsamic vinaigrette. Before leaving, I ordered a delicious almond croissant, that while obviously baked 8 hours before my arrival, was still tasty and moist. Unfortunately, croissants don't hold their "crisp" for 8 hours, so it was a little "moister" than a croissant would be when served closer to the time it came out of the oven. The server could not have been more pleasant, helpful, or cheerful. Really a delightful visit to Chez Fabien yesterday. Highly recommend. read more

Been here a couple of times, and it's a decent place. It's quaint, nice atmosphere And right on the main street. First time I was there. It was a solo trip, I do remember ordering muscles and wine sauce as my entree which was really good. Good. The baguette and fries were wonderful to be the side dishes. The second time I visited I had a date and we ordered a couple of good entrees. I believe I ordered the muscles and fries again but during the course of the evening we ordered coffee which came out lukewarm and had to send it back for a fresh pot to be made. Not a big ding but no one likes to go over to a French restaurant and have lukewarm coffee. I do recommend you getting a reservation if you can because during popular hours or popular days or popular seasons, seating is limited Would I go there again, maybe It was a nice place. read more

Was in town on business and a few of us coworkers spent the day shopping in Grapevine. We decided to grab a bite here. It was very busy (Saturday Eve) so we elected to sit at the bar. We were served drinks right away (French 75, a raspberry mule and Pinot Noir, all of which were great) and decided on some apps and soup. The French onion soup was amazing with puff pastry crust on top, how unique. The other apps - a flatbread and truffle fries were also yummy. A wonderful atmosphere and great staff here. The food is amazing and the drinks well made. They have some good options as low as 13 and some as much as 28 so you should be able to find something to for your pocketbook. We split a wedge salad and it was huge! Then I had the grilled chicken sandwich and truffle fries(2.00 up-charge but worth it ) the sandwich was great and had to take 1/2 to go after having 1/2 the wedge salad. Review - Chez Fabian Grapevine. I am a repeat customer who loves your restaurant. My poor review is not about your great food or your wonderful wait staff. But about a terrible situation that was going on at your bar during our dinner. There was a man sitting at the bar who appeared to be (was) inebriated. We were sitting in the lower dining area and still he was so loud that I had trouble hearing our waitress. This guy was also pounding on the bar, making weird animal sounds, and using foul language, including F-bombs. Totally inappropriate. This was at an early dinner reservation at 5:30 pm 5/25/24, so not a "late night bar scene". And even worse, there were little children in your restaurant! I did discuss this with our waitress more than once. Apparently this guy is a regular and not highly regarded by the associates. A regular and the establishment lets him carry on like this! And this is not the first time these antics have occurred. This certainly cannot be good for your business? It's very sad when you come in for a nice dinner and have to put up with this BS. Like I said, I really love your restaurant, but I am not sure that I will be back. read more

Service can be excellent or terrible depending on who you deal with. Having said that, my recent experience was so over the top insane, that I hesitate to relay all the excruciatingly terrible details. Food is always great; is always fresh and you will find menu items here that you won't find anywhere else. I especially love the arugula/goat cheese salad (with orange and strawberry slices). The smoked salmon sandwich (with cream cheese, capers and red onions) on fresh swirly-rye bread is outta this world. So if you get the sandwich, you can pass on their home-made potato chips (if you dare) and ask for the arugula/goat cheese salad as a side. That's my combo so i 'get' to eat both of my favs at this spot. Can be busy at times so suggest you call ahead and ask if you should reserve. The bar is well stocked and bartender(s) make really good drinks (ie, not watered down). There are outside tables 'a la Francois' so you can watch the folks going by who might just strike up a chat with you. Unfortunately, it sometimes gets very loud with kids revving their cars down Main Street and there you are. Thankfully, they pass by and go on. Music from the across the street (candy shop? Napoli's) would not be so bad if someone wouild replace the 1960's tinny speakers. The music sounds like it's coming out of a transistor radio from the 60's. (Now you know how old school I am). It DOES get irritating to hear it and it definitely does not go with the sidewalk-cafe type ambience. I visit this place frequently; I plan for that to continue. When on Grapevine Main Street, I love stopping at Chez Fabien. Whether you are looking for breakfast, lunch, or dinner this restaurant has immaculate dishes with quality ingredients. One of my favorite things to enjoy at Chez Fabien is the French Onion Soup, it's the perfect ratio of soup and cheese. The tomato basil soup is another great option. The service is phenomenal, we were greeted as soon as we walked in. My favorite part about Chez Fabien is that the restaurant is connected to the bakery! I've been here twice now both times for brunch mid-week. There was a 20 minute wait without a reservation. No big deal we just put in our name and went next door for more shopping. The location is perfect right in downtown Grapevine on the main strip. Surrounded by shopping and more shopping! The ambiance and decor is so cute! It's not a big place so the tables are a little too close for my preference. The table clearing crew is constantly passing by with their rolling carts which feels intrusive at times. I think it would be a much better situation to park the carts and carry the dishes over. It just felt kinda icky, I don't know how else to say it. The cleaner they are using is pretty strong and if you have a sensitive sniffer like me then you inhale it as you take a bite if they are cleaning the table next to you. I know it all has to be done I just feel there must be a better way to clear and clean. Now onto the food.... Yummmyyy. The quiche is big and fluffy and they serve a nice portion. The chicken, avocado, blt wrap is delicious. I opted for the sweet potato fries and they are so good. I ordered a cup of tomato soup as our food was delivered and it never came so sue did take that off the bill and bring me a to go cup of soup so that was nice. Overall I really like this place and want to try it on a date night in the evening and walk the streets to see the Christmas lights down main! I recommend Chez Fabian and will return. read more

Having been to Italy recently, I fell in love with the way they make cheeseburgers in France. Burgers are not usually on my list of things to eat, but sometimes they are so delicious you can't resist. I had been on a hunt to find a French restaurant that could make a cheeseburger as good as they do in France. I've been disappointed quite a bit. Don't bother with the one at La Madeleine. It's not the real thing. But I will say that this one here called the "Frenchie burger" is very close. The trick is the brioche bun and the brie cheese. omg delicious! Bordeaux red wine. Chez Fabien (aka Main Street Bistro & Bakery) is our favorite breakfast place on a Sunday morning, My husband orders the Croque-Madame every time! I normally get the Smoked Ham Crepe but it's not as good as it used to be. You have to ask for the Mornay Sauce. It was better when they had the sauce in the crepe. So I've ventured for different options - Quiche Lorraine - pretty good but it was cold in the center. Needed to be heated much longer Fried Chicken and Waffle - really good Bistro Chilaquiles - really liked it but be prepared because it's spicy. Would be good to split with someone. Would not be good to leftovers. Migas - love this one and good for leftovers Nutella Banana Crepe - my daughter orders this one but adds strawberries. It's really good if you're wanting something sweet. Bread Pudding French Toast - I really enjoyed this one. We've only been to Chez for dinner a couple of times. The burgers are great. The owner Fabian sat us and we had no idea. He let us order off the lunch menu and good god the spinach quiche was delightful. We ordered so much food, fish and chips, spinach artichoke dip, risotto, warm Brie. Fabian was a delightful host and gave us complimentary items such a as multiple deserts, lobster bisque for my daughter. The service was impeccable and food was fantastic. Fish and chips were on par to most good fish and chips restaurant's however I would have liked steak cut fries with the fish. Maybe that's the British in me. Risotto was better than what I've eaten at Hell Kitchen. It's hard to say this but yes it was better. Warm Brie has a lovely sweet taste and the toasted bread that went along with it was perfect. The only dish that I thought could be better was the spinach and artichoke dip. It could do with more flavor, maybe more garlic or some chili flakes. The staff had to move us to another table after being seated so they said they would pick up our first round of drinks. Then my friend ordered a beer (suggestion by waitress) and they ended up being out of it after the bartender gave my friend a sample. I returned to this lovely restaurant during the work week after dining here during the festival in May. This is one of those spots that if you passed by the storefront itself you would probably keep walking. But look beyond that and you will find a special treasure indeed. Their HH is always brimming with patrons, and they've had long time customers since the restaurant itself has been here for ages. I brought some college buds from out of town and we got a cozy booth in the back. I ordered a red blend and my friends got cocktails, and seemed to enjoy them. The first visit I ordered brie with mushrooms which was incredible! I planned on ordering that again however I was feeling adventurous so wandered off and landed on the lamb burger. Absolutely freaking yum! I think next time I will order this though on the medium side, medium well was more like well done. The meat however was extremely well seasoned. And had tons of goat cheese on it along with veggies. My college bud got a scrumptious looking salad that had mounds of cheese and fruit. We met friends from out of town here and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The bartender was excellent! We arrived at 5:45 and sat at the bar while we waited for our table. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because the service was a little slow. We were estimated a 45 minute wait when we arrived at 5:45 and didn't get seated until after 7:00 and didn't finish our meal and pay the check until 9:35. The server was jovial and made some great recommendations and the food was delicious. We started with the French onion soup and it was yummy. My husband had the Boeuf Bourguignon and I had the steak frites. Entrees were delicious! We had the bread pudding for dessert and it was underwhelming but okay. I was born in New Orleans so I have high expectations when it comes to bread pudding. It should have spice and nuts. This had no nuts, no spice, was served just with whipped cream and no ice cream and it was topped with chocolate ganache which is just wrong to me for bread pudding but it was as described on the menu (my husband's choice). French inspired it says but seems French straight up to me. Wine selection is good although I'm an amateur, and the serving size for a glass was generous. We ordered escargot which was the best I've had, including when I was in Paris. They have them soaking in butter and bake a little bread on top which paired really well. Warning: the serving size on the salad was gigantic and we never made it past it, but the goat cheese salad was delicious with fresh fruit to contrast the cheese.
