It is a pain in the butt to order from CTA. I am not sure if it is them or the delivery service Caviar. We placed an order and received everything except a burrito. The burrito was listed on the receipt so I know the order was taken correctly, it just never made it to us. Upon calling the restaurant they told us we would have to contact caviar, who told us they could not deliver one single item (the burrito) so all they could do was refund us. So everyone got to eat dinner except the person who ordered a burrito........ buzzkill. Ordering from them is not worth the risk of not getting your order correct and there being nothing that can be done about it. read more

My husband and I are from Southern California and just moved to Chicago in June. It has been hard for us to find Mexican food that resembles what we grew up with. I like their take on tacos...you can watch them being made in the kitchen area and everyone is so friendly. I particularly like the chicken tinga and the brisket tacos. But last time we were in, we noticed the chorizo taco on the menu and asked if we could taste it. It was really tasty! Going to get that one, too, on next visit. Sadly disappointed and I REALLY wanted to love this place! I ordered 8 tacos for pick up and only arrived home with 6. When I drove back to the restaurant during rush hour traffic to pick up the two tacos they forgot to put in the bag, they didn't even offer me any sort of comp for their mistake, I still paid full price despite the inconvenience. I barely got a "sorry about that." The tacos were just alright.... Other things I was sadly dissatisfied with: the guacamole did not look or taste fresh and one of the tacos had three tortillas! Why???? It's not like the meat was extra saucy or anything... Also, their salsas could use some work! Both of the salsas I got tasted like they were made with canned tomatoes.... they also lacked "freshness". So sad. I eat Tacos often and I'm always looking for new spots near me. I decided to give these place a try, my wife wanted Suzie's I wanted mexican food, I ordered al pastor taco salad the portion was very big I thought it came in a taco shell which it didn't, the al pastor was just in Gordon Ramsey's words just bland no flavor in the meat very disappointed, the taco salad came with black beans instead of refried beans. Picked up food here for dinner the other night and it did not disappoint! We tried most of the tacos including the shrimp which seemed to be a new addition, and they were all fresh and very delicious. The shrimp was my favorite, and most had a unique spin on them with lots of toppings. The elote and guac were also fantastic, and the inside was cute/clean/clever with the CTA theme. Staff was nice and friendly and apologizing for the wait which was not too long especially considering how many orders they were filling and how large my order was! I ordered 3 tacos and they were pretty good, ingredients were fresh and a bit "more spice than flavor" territory. I had chicken, fish and brisket. Our chips were over done and greasy so maybe fryer needs the temp raised? Guac presented nicely, but tray too big for the small table. I would eat here again BUT I think the seating/layout/service is still needing work and could be more comfortable/less confusing. The chairs are very wobbly and cheap and the tables are small so for a two top you can not fit the large cool trays on the table if you get a third item. It was a bit awkward to try and eat our food. So that is an obstacle to address. Second the menu and ordering is very confusing. Person working does not really facilitate the process. Not all the flavors of tacos listed above on the board and then burritos with no varieties just sort of below (no varieties) which I missed until I had already ordered. The taco I wanted to try was not on the board but then I noticed a sign with no price below. I had already ordered...wa wa. Also, this is just a general pet peeve..... Everything is plastic cups, plastic utensils, except at the salsa bar which is good using stainless cups!....just too much single use plastic for my taste and for 2019. Then I assume you are supposed to throw it away with garbage, no where to recycle it. Just a bummer...I don't like using or throwing away plastic. I would have liked a glass with ice for my coke, instead just handed a not very cold bottle. Sadly parking is a pain in the butt around here too on a weekday! WTF. The staff was super friendly and helpful, their ceviche made me soooo happy it was so fresh..it was just perfect! thank you chefs they have everything you need tacos, churros, Mexican sodas, jugos, chips and guacamole, and lots of different kind of salsas they let us try out! Good addition to the neighborhood. We shared bunch of different tacos - my favorite was the chili rellenos, shrimp and steak were close second though the slaw and sauce on the shrimp made it a little goopy. I must say that the size of the shrimpies were excellent. The ceviche was serviceable. The disappointing part were the salsas (they have a small bar on the side with 4 choices). All lacked depth - a smoky jalapeño tomato or tomatillo one would have gone a long ways to perk up the decent steak taco. read more
