(Note: I've often found this restaurant space to be cold inside, even when it was Home 231.) We were served by an incredible young server, Jonathan, who looked after our every need. We were also visited tableside by Chef/Owner Geno Goodman, and had a nice conversation about the restaurant biz. Our food was delicious. We started with the smoked deviled eggs, which were nicely smoked and seasoned. B had a special, branzino, with collards and Mac and cheese. I decided on a small rack of ribs with collards and corn on the cob. Everything was simply wonderful. The ribs were falling off the bone and amply sauced. We are glad we finally did. 1762 was formerly known as The Warwick Hotel, and that's the prominent markings you'll see from the street. It is a really excellent spot on the square in Hummelstown with cozy charm and exceptional service. My companion was initially skeptical when she saw wine on tap but immediately changed her mind when she saw the offerings--good quality and reasonable price point. The beer selection is also good. Not a huge number of beers but well-selected. Although we didn't have a full meal we did enjoy the sausage and honey appetizer, which was outrageously tasty with sausage from a local butcher in Hershey. Service was efficient and friendly, especially considering the bar (where we sat) was hopping. We also met the owner, Dave, who rolled up his sleeves to assist at the bar while also personally greeting customers. Our biggest regret is that we waited so long to finally visit...and we'll definitely be back soon.

We also lucked out with a great group of people on the tour, which added to the fun atmosphere. Doug did an excellent job explaining the brewing process and showing us the production facility. One of the highlights was when he stopped at one of the large fermentation tanks and poured everyone a sample of unfinished beer. It was a unique experience and very interesting to taste beer at that stage of production. The best part of the tour came at the end when we gathered around a bar and sampled several different beers. Doug explained the characteristics of each one, making it both educational and enjoyable. The brewery itself is huge, with plenty of seating, a great food menu, and a wide variety of beers to choose from. The tour costs $15, and you even get a beer before the tour begins, which makes it an excellent value. If you're in the area, I highly recommend stopping in for a cold beer and booking the tour. It was an absolute blast and one of the best brewery experiences we've had.
