The chicken here was honestly really good. Super flavorful, juicy, and cooked just right. You can tell they put effort into the quality of the food because it definitely delivered on taste. That said, the experience wasn't perfect. The wait time was pretty long, especially for a simple order, and when the food finally came out, they had messed up part of it. Nuggets: popcorn-sized, soggy, and saltier than the Atlantic. No thanks. Spicy Chicken Sandwich: stale bread, oversalted meat, a sad half-slice of tomato mashed with pickled gherkin, two shriveled lettuce bits, all drowned in a sickly sweet, gluey sauce. I commend this location for managing its queue well. Lots of people in line on the weekend, but they do a good job trying to keep things moving. Same quality and taste as other locations, so thumbs up there. I guess one of the things that would be better if it were clear: the situation on refills? I paid for an iced tea (where the ice was piled to the brim of the cup), so needless to say, got probably six sips of actual tea. Located in the Atrium food court at Fashion Island, it's convenient if you're shopping here or work nearby but otherwise you have to deal with the hassle of parking and walking down to the lower level which makes it a somewhat slower version of "fast food". The menu seems to be slightly smaller than most Chick-fil-A locations. I couldn't tell you exactly what was missing but the menu definitely looked like it had less items listed. Even at the height of lunch hour, the line moved quickly. They are very efficient and the tiny, smiling supervisor was really busting her butt to keep everyone and everything moving. I ordered a meal combo: Chick-fil-A sandwich with waffle fries and upgraded to a cookies & cream milkshake. They asked which sauce I wanted (Chick-fil-A sauce for me, please) and gave me two of the little containers. I sat in the food court area and within a couple minutes a worker, using their ultra-super-special-chick-fil-a-location technology, delivered my food to my table. I DoorDashed chick fille last night, is it me or is the quality of their food going down? I've tried Chick-fil-A only once before, and wasn't overly impressed, but I happened to be nearby and decided to give this new location a shot. Obviously people enjoy it, so I was thinking that maybe I just didn't order something that I liked the first time. I ordered a 12 piece chicken nugget meal, which seemed safe. My only other visit to a different Chick-fil-A involved the order of an unimpressive chicken sandwich, so I decided to go different this time. When I was finishing the order I was asked what sauces I wanted. I decided on two, and she handed me two. I asked if I could have two of each, as this was a 12 piece meal and I didn't want to run out of sauce...and the lady accommodated me. When I got the take out bag, it felt very light so I checked to see what was inside. The box inside was rather small. I decided to change my take out to a sit down situation and opened the box. Oh lord. The smallest nuggets were a half inch in diameter, the largest maybe one inch, but the majority fell somewhere in the middle. The skimpiness of this 12 piece "meal" was pathetic, and I left hungry. Not a good experience, yet again, especially for $6 plus. Turns out I didn't need four dipping sauces after all. Two would have sufficed. There was nothing more to dip after those 12 tiny pieces. I'm done. I'm no longer curious about why people dine at Chick-not-filled-A. read more

Let me just say I was so excited trying this place for the first time ever! And it didn't disappoint. Quick note; The place itself is located inside the food court and not outside. We ordered our food and it was out within 5 minutes! The sandwich was so good and although it seems pretty basic looking, the chicken was cooked deliciously. The waffle fries were good (not the best ever but 8/10). The chicken nuggets are better than most places and have that little crunch to them. Their signature sauce was also one of my favorites! I work at the mall, and most of the time I'm too lazy to pack a lunch, so I head over to the Atrium food court. Many years ago, I had Chick-fil-A for the first time and didn't like it because their chicken sandwiches come plain with a couple slices of pickles (and I used to hate pickles). However, since my coworkers always rave about it and one of them practically eats there every day, I was curious and decided to give the restaurant another shot. I ordered the chicken strips kids meal which came with two chicken strips, a small order of waffles fries, a small drink, and toy (which I threw away). The food was delicious! The chicken was crispy (but not overly battered), hot, tender, and juicy! Their waffle fries are also perfectly crispy, but soft inside. They have a variety of sauces, and this time I got buttermilk ranch, which was good. They also have those cool ketchup packets that can be opened for dipping, or squeezed out of the top. Since then, I have been back about three times and tried other things from their varied menu. The chicken nuggets are just as good as the strips, and I definitely recommend you get the Chick-fil-A dipping sauce! It's the perfect sweet blend of barbecue and mustard. Their soft serve cones are also great and the perfect consistency (creamy, and not too icy). Their side salads are also pretty fancy for a fast food chain. It's just the right sized bowl, and comes with fresh, green romaine (not brown or orange like at other places), cheese, purple cabbage, cherry tomatoes, broccoli, and a packet of croutons and sunflower seeds! All of that for under $3! I chose the ranch to go with it, and it was the perfect lunch for when I'm not in the mood for something as heavy as the chicken. Overall, this is a great place as the food always lives up to my expectations, the service is fast and friendly, and the location is convenient. The manager is also really friendly, and always has a smile on his face as he works along side the other workers. When I ordered my ice cream cone, there were two people in line before me, and he apologized for the wait and gave me the ice cream for free! I will definitely be back! read more

I was able to try their new grilled chicken sandwich! Yummy! Now I don't have to feel bloated or as guilty when I eat their fried chicken sandwich! Their fries are kind of soggy, so it could use a bit more crisp. From their many sauces to choose from, I'm still a fan of the old-fashioned ketchup. It is a rush at lunch and one time they forgot about my oreo milkshake and I was on lunch break... but the manager offered me a free chicken sandwich for next time. Alright so I wanted to go to Whole Foods for their Guacamole Dip since Metta said it was the best and I saw the Chick-Fil-A sign for the food court and decided to try it. The food court was like entering a different planet, really nice everything just like the rest of Newport. The one thing was that it was really empty at all the other food spots, (Taco Bell, Japanese, Panda Express, Subway, and a few other mall staples) there were a few people at Five Guys but when we saw Chick-Fil-A the line was probably 15 people deep. So it must be good right? Right. The spicy deluxe chicken sandwich meal was around $7.50 and came with an amazing lemonade that I had to get refilled, but luckily it was free, I highly recommend it on a hot day. The chicken was juicy and crunchy all around and had a nice kick to it as well as a nice crunch from the lettuce and about 3 nice slices of tomatoes which were very good quality. I had some of the Chick fil A sauce with it which tasted like honey mustard but with some twist to it that I couldn't put my tongue on, but very very good nonetheless. Very much recommend coming here if you're at fashion island and not trying to eat at one of the more expensive areas. This has to be the worst Chick Fil A that I have ever been to. I've always gone to chick fil a because they are known to have the nicest employees but yikes, this location must be the exception. There are two employees here in particular that are very rude and snappy with customers and they ruin the entire experience. The first time I dealt with one, I asked nicely for a large water on the side while ordering food and he looked directly at me and sighed as loud as he could. He continued taking my order and then said hold on so he could finish ringing it in. When I went to say "Okay no problem!", he cut me off and snapped "I SAID HOLD ON!". I was too nervous to ask for extra pickles on the side along with my sauces after that so I just cut it short. He ended up forgetting to put in the water so when I went to ask, he of course was irritated all over and made it seem like I was being a complete bother. I then watched as he snapped at another customer who asked for sauce and told them to order at the register next time. I was like wow, how mean! To add to this, I watched as he scratched his head with his hands and bend over. As he bent over, I saw pieces of dandruff fall onto the order below him. Thankfully it was already covered to go but imagine if it weren't? I understand that everyone has a little dandruff and I didn't want to embarrass him (despite his rudeness) but this is not ok nor sanitary. The next time I came in, I encountered another problem. I ordered a chick fil a sandwich meal and asked for a macaroni and cheese as my side instead of the fries. The girl ringing me up was new and put in a large macaroni and cheese instead of just a substitution. I didn't realize at first until I got my receipt and realized she charged me for the meal and then added a large macaroni and cheese on the side to it, which ended up being like $5 extra. Since she was busy with another customer and the line was long, I went up to an employee and asked if my receipt was right because I have never paid $5 to substitute macaroni and cheese before, so I wasn't sure if this was how much it was. He was so rude and said "If its on your receipt, thats what you ordered" as he rolled his eyes. He started walking away so I said "But I ordered a substitute of macaroni and cheese instead of the fries, not a large side" and he turned around and said "Your receipt says you ordered a side so thats what you are getting". I was like what in the world????? I ended up waiting in line and getting a refund for it but it was a disaster going back and fourth with them about it. At this point, I just gave up on going here. After reading some of the other reviews, it seems I am not the only one to experience such rudeness and miscommunication here.
