Great crispy fried chicken in Alhambra. I love that it comes out piping hot and the sauce that is included really captivated the flavor of the chicken. Although a bit pricier than other spots I go to, the flavor is always solid and chicken is always made fresh. Definitely recommended Score: solid 4/5 read more

I went to Chicken Bun Bun at potentially their most challenging time, which as 12:30pm on Sunday (also the day of the nearby Alhambra Farmers Market). I got the spicy chicken sandwich with fries and a drink, and it must have taken 30 minutes for them to get the food out. However, there were only 3 guys in the store and they were working as fast as they could, I so definitely am willing to cut them a break on that. The sandwich was definitely delicious, and I also like how they have self-serve refillable drinks. Maybe next time I'll go on a day other than Sunday. read more

Mediocre at best. The spicy chicken sandwich gets kudos for having cabbage. FYI I think it's blasphemy to have lettuce and tomato on a chicken sandwich. Having the choice of white or dark meat, I went with the dark (recommendation of the employee). The chicken was solid but the spice level was uncomfortable. Don't get me wrong I love spicy food, but it's almost as if they had is spicy just for the uncomfortable sensation one would feel instead of it being the compliment or main component of it's flavor. If spice is what you are after just to feel uncomfortable without the pleasure of flavor, safe yourself the $13(sandwich combo) and just bite into a Carolina Reaper. read more

My favorite chicken sandwich place!! With everything being so expensive lately, I feel like it's so worth it. The waffle fries are so good and crispy and hot. The house sauce is perfect as a dip for the fries and the burger too. Their macaroni salad also is so good. I love how there are two choices of meat which can be chicken breast or thighs. The burger itself is amazing too. The chicken is still hot even after eating it for a few minutes. I like how it's made to order too. read more

Orders take a while to prepare, so perhaps order in advance. Best chicken sandwich I've had, maybe ever, possibly because you can request dark meat, which resists getting dry/tough. Fries are unremarkable. No ambiance, but it's clean. read more

Service here is terrible, just to place an order the wait time is 30 min... either they are extremely under staff or not good at what they do, they most likely open up to online orders and can't handle taking care of customers who drive to them, the guy at like he didn't even want to take my other because he was busy cooking/mopping floors/ refilling the soda machine/ and seasoning chicken... ridiculous I will never come here again. Walked in here on a Friday afternoon, just in search of a quick bite. I didn't know what to expect as I've mostly eaten spicy chicken sandwiches from Popeye's which I enjoy. Ordered #1 Chicken sandwich, dark meat, fries, and a coke. Ranch was $0.50 extra but totally worth it. The bread on the sandwich was like a Hawaiian bread, very fluffy. They really do live up to their words of being the best fried chicken in town. Conveniently located on Main street in Alhambra, Chicken Bun Bun offers solid fried chicken sandwiches, chicken tenders, and fries. There is a small parking lot behind the restaurants with access from second street and third street. read more

Do not judge a book by its cover!! I've driven by this place every time I go to work/come home & never felt compelled to go in .. I only went in last night bc it was the only place that was open Their spicy chicken dark meat sandwich was absolutely sublime. All this hot chicken sandwich hype has always been good but eh I'll never go there again but this place?? This place I'll dream about... Not to hype it up too much but I just really appreciate how juicy & crunchy the chicken was, how the perfect amount of sauce was slathered on, and how there was no shortage of pickles. The chicken had that hint of flavor when it normally feels flat on a Texas hot chicken. Best fried chicken place in Alhambra. I've tried Howlin ray, Dave's hot chicken, Bonchon, Running chicks etc. and none compares to Chicken bun bun's quality. Their chicken is evenly fried that the skin is crispy and flaky. Their spicy chicken sandwich is the best. The bun isn't too soft or soggy. The sauce is spicy but it's just the right amount for me (if you can't take spicy, I recommend you try the none spicy one). This place is also clean and cozy. A nice place to hang out with family or friends. They open until 10pm... ugh losing weight is going to be tough v-v Almost forgot one thing, I'm picky with fries but their fries deserve 10 out of 10. They even season them with pepper which makes them more flavorful. read more

Walking through Alhambra and decided to try out this place. Definitely glad I did! I tried their dark meat spicy chicken, it was really soft and juicy, not dry at all. The spice was a good amount where it doesn't kill the flavor so. (I like spicy so I felt it just right) High key better than chick fil a. Also got a side of fries which were decent. If you're guys are in need of a spicy chicken sandwich and boba fix, these photos don't do justice to the amount of flavor it comes with each one. If you're in Alhambra area, check out Chicken Bun Bun. It was my first time here, so I ordered the Spicy Chicken on Bun and Jasmine Green Milk Tea. The spicy chicken was a dry rub, which enables you to taste the crispness of the breading that isn't heavy on the batter. There's no spicy level but definitely hit the spot for something spicy that isn't overbearing. The chicken itself was tender and juicy. And the slaw that comes is creamy instead of a vinaigrette type of slaw. It all comes together greatly. The Jasmine Milk Green Tea, I was craving boba so I order this. I didn't know it was from Tea Station! But I think the best thing was the service. She went up to me personally to give me each item with both hands. We were excited for a local fried chicken sandwich shop here in the SGV but overall felt the food was mediocre. We ordered the 1x fried chicken sandwich, 1x spicy fried chicken sandwich and waffle fries. The best part was actually the waffle fries --- fried crisply with a nice crunch. My regular fried chicken sandwich was crispy, but a little dry... They only have 1x level of spice for the spicy chicken sandwich and unfortunately too spicy for us. (Like sweaty spicy.) Our spicy chicken sandwich was really juicy which is a plus. Unfortunately I would rather just order delivery of Howlin Ray's despite the higher cost. Some improvements I would suggest: juicier chicken (or more sauce?) for the regular chicken sandwich, customize the level of spice (mild, medium, etc.) and pack the fries/waffle fries. I ordered the spicy chicken sandwich. If you're wondering what it's like, think Popeyes but what you actually hoped Popeyes was going to be. You get a nice thick, spicy, crunchy, juicy piece of chicken that was definitely brined before getting fried (tons of flavor and juice), two perfectly toasted buns, pickles, coleslaw, and plenty of sauce. If you're wondering how it compares to Howlin Rays or Daves, you can't compare them because they are different styles of chicken sandwich. Service was good, no line, fast, clean, friendly, and delicious. read more

Their chicken bun and crispy chicken wings are delicious! Very crispy and moist. It took awhile for us to get our order but it's so worth it. The fries came with black pepper sprinkled all over it which to me was good but my kids did not like it. They were also out of waffle fries that day. We tried their onion rings which weren't that good with too much batter around it and not much texture. I would not recommend the New Orleans Chicken Wings, they lacked flavor and just did not taste good. If you stick with the bun and crispy chicken wings you will be happy! read more

I love the simple, well executed menu here at Chicken Bun Bun. The chicken sandwiches are the reason you need to visit this place now. The chicken here is perfectly crunchy and juicy. The accompanying slaw and pickles are in just the right ratio and provide a balance to the sandwich. Top things off with a brioche bun and Boom! game over. The spicy chicken on bun is about a medium spice level at other comparable chicken spots. The sides also hit the spot with my go to being the waffle fries which are seasoned and freshly made. I want to show some love to my go-to spicy chicken sandwich spot in the SGV! This place is new, I've had their food about 4 or 5 times now and after having the spicy chicken sandwich today, I'm happy to share that it seems they've got it down pat! I love when management clearly takes customer feedback into consideration and it doesn't just go in one ear and out the other. In the few times I've eaten from here, it gets better each time so kudos for that. The spicy chicken sandwich is the perfect amount of spice. It has that kick to it that I'm looking for when I'm craving spicy. Ive tried this and panda express' new 6$ orange chicken sandwich and chicken bun bun wins. Only thing to keep in mind is that orders are def slower at open. Mine took about half an hour at sunday open first order of the day. Also got popcorn chicken and chicken tenders which are pretty much beeg popcorn chickens. read more

Chicken sandwich is fantastic comes out fresh and hot. Very rare that places nail the chicken crunchy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside. The bun is high quality as well. Fries were passable. The inside is pretty forgettable and the staff seemed to be stressed with both cooking and helping customers with their orders. Put in a phone order for a burger meal. They said it would be ready in 10 minutes. I got there in 10 minutes and I still had to wait 10 more minutes. I did upgrade my drink to milk tea, which I was bummed out to find out that it was green tea milk tea not black tea. Also, I saw that they used original coffee mate creamer with the green tea. I got the spicy burger which was very spicy but delicious. Would go again but not for the tea. read more

The place is clean. 5-stars. Chicken is crispy yet juicy, however, it was too salty for me. Both the chicken and spread are seasoned, so it end up too salty. 4-stars. $7.99+$3.49 to make it a combo. Comes with a soft drink and small fries. Kind of expensive for what it is, but it's understandable due to COVID. 4-stars. Tried this place last night and I give it a solid 4.5/5 stars !!!! The cashier was very sweet and polite ! Great customer service !!! Orderd the spicy chicken sandwich! Had a nice kick of heat the way i like it! The chicken breast was cooked to perfection! Great flavor and succulent taste! Next time, I'll ask for more coleslaw for more crunch profile since I requested no pickles. The popcorn chicken was very good as well !!!! Juicy and tender and I didn't have to ask for ranch because they gave you one! Love this!! The Mac salad is what I knocked half a star for. My wife had been to this spot a few years back and always raved about it, so we decided to swing by for some late-night eats. They've got this cool ordering screen, but you can hit up the cashier too. When we walked in, no one was upfront, but as soon as the door shut and the bell chimed, a guy popped up asking what we wanted. The menu's pretty straightforward, loaded with pics and tons of options. We went for a spicy chicken sandwich combo with waffle fries, some chicken tenders and fries, and a classic chicken sandwich, all to-go, setting us back about 40 bucks. The only snag was when we asked for cups, the dude, who was in the middle of cleaning, grabbed them with his still-gloved hands - yep, the ones he was cleaning with. Not cool, thinking about those cleaning chemicals touching the cups. We had to ask for new ones, and he handed them over again with his gloves on until my wife called him out on it. I picked this up to go after passing by it one day. I ordered the spicy chicken sandwich and waffle fries. I don't know what their secret is, but I took it home half expecting it to be soggy from being in a to go container but when I took it out it was still crispy and hot. The sandwich was huge and the bun looked practically perfect. The only note I would make is that the spicy is in fact very spicy, which I enjoyed. But others may find the spiciness too overwhelming.
