I ordered from their catering menu for 10 people last Saturday night, gave them advance notice of my order, the food is overall excellent. I ordered the chicken and beef kebab and it came with rice, salad, hummus, egg plant dip, sarma (stuffed grape leaves) cheese boreg, garlic paste and bread. Everything was super delicious and my guests were very impressed. I definitely recommend this place and will definitely use them again especially with upcoming holidays. Had a takeout plate last week from this place since I was craving Mediterranean. I liked the beef kabob the most, was not fan of the chicken. I had been hearing a lot of people raving about this Mediterranean place so I decided to check it out. The place was small and comfy with cute ornamentations on the wall. I was welcomed with pleasantry from the staff. the food was assembled fresh to order. I ordered the dinner chicken kebob plate with rice, cucumber salad, and hummus. I do not like hummus so I was able to get mashed potatoes instead. For dessert, I ordered fresh homemade Baklava, and it was just ok. The chicken was tender, moist, and very appetizing. The rice was just ok. The salad and mashed potatoes were very good. The potatoes were creamy and very scrumptious. I am not a big mashed potatoes person but these were very flavorful for a fast food place. Nice variation of items on the menu. They even have barbecue ribs. Inexpensive lunch prices. I've driven by CKE many times in the past several years but never thought to check them out. With this name, I always thought it was one of those fast food places with precooked foods sitting under a lamp, like Panda Express. I recently found out they're not. It's actually a family owned Mediterranean restaurant. We ordered lunch for the family, so the Kebab Family Meal sounded like a good way to go. It came with the 2 skewers of chicken, beef and lule (which is like seasoned ground meat) The order came with a generous portion of fragrant rice, puta and hummus, and a green salad. Their house dressing is mild and has good flavor, but had trouble sticking in to the greens. It's probably better to dip the veggies in it instead of pouring it on top. $51.95 The chicken and beef both had nice charred edges and a subtle smoky flavor. They were not an tender as I had hoped but still pretty good flavor. The lule were full of exotic seasonings and equally good. The rice complimented the protein nicely. And use their garlic paste for a slight bump in flavor. I also got a roasted chicken wrap. Shredded flavorful chicken meat with lettuce and seasoning. Pretty good and a decent size to fill you up but not stuff you like a burrito. $8.95 The service was very friendly. The younger owner was energetic and welcoming. There are some tables inside and for a 15 yr old establishment, their decor is pretty updated. It's nice to have a family owned Mediterranean place in this area without having to drive to Glendale. Hail to the king! Chicken King Express is probably the best Mediterranean restaurant in town. We love getting their kebab plates: Chicken, beef, and beef lule are our favorite types of kebabs. Each one is grilled to smokey perfection and served on a bed of seasoned rice. The rice that comes with their combos is very flavorful--I could eat a whole plate of rice by itself! A plate also comes with pita bread, hummus, spicy sauce, salad, and garlic spread. It's a ton of great food at a good price. We're also fond of their rotisserie chicken, with its delicious and succulent dark meat, tender and juicy white meat, and skin that's packed with flavor! I mean, they are the chicken kings, after all, so it makes sense that their chicken is superb! If your only exposure to Mediterranean food is Zankou Chicken, I would suggest trying Chicken King Express because this place blows that fast food chain out of the water. Yelp brought me here and I ordered 2 lunch Chicken Kebab plates that each come with rice, salad, garlic paste, & hummus.  Everything was delicious! The chicken was tender and juicy plus the rice was super flavorful.  For the lunch price I think you get half the chicken of what you normally get, so I had so much rice left! I was definitely craving for more chicken! I love this place. My go-to is the Fattoush salad (so zesty and fresh) with a chicken kabob skewer on the side to eat on top of it. A small size is good enough for 1 person. The secret is when you order a side of chicken kebab, they package the chicken on top of a piece of pita that soaks up all the chicken juices and tastes like Heaven!! My husbands go-to is the beef kebab which is also great. Love the garlic sauce on the side, love the rice, love the hummus. The hubby and I have ordered dinner from here various times. One of our favorite places for Mediterranean food. You cannot go wrong with any of their food offerings. Always love the falafel and their homemade hummus. The homemade hummus has that classic hummus taste without it being sour like what you find in store bought hummus. The hummus tasted fresh and clean. The pickled turnips are a must and they add in the yellow chilies to give it a kick. The steak and chicken kabob are always juicy, savory, and they have that flame grilled charred flavor. I am kind of on the fence with this place. I called at 11:45 no answer because they are busy due to lunch hour. Understandable, but not answering your phone not only causes you to loose business but shows you cant handle food orders. The guy at registered super overwhelmed, and asked to-go or here? I said to-go, keeps telling me one second. He takes my order, I'm waiting for my food he says 15 min. If you're in a rush for lunch, might want to call ahead. Based off first impression, not the best. Also, I asked for restroom said no public restroom. Which is crazy to me when a customer is spending $18.00 on one meal. Food: chicken Kebab plate. Chicken really good, I asked for my chicken to be more charbroiled. Rice is okay, nothing special. Hummus is good, do not like how they put tons of cumin on top. Next time I would say no cumin. Disclaimer: first time here and I was looking at an old menu with old prices before ordering in person. I like to support small businesses as much as possible given the current climate. And, I had a coupon which compelled me to try this place. In no way is this a negative review. Simply an honest one given that money is tight for some people. I ordered the family meal for numbers 1 and 2. The prices compared to other Mediterranean places is fairly high with respect to what I got for each of the family meals and the taste. Close to $43 for a whole chicken, rice, salad, pitas, etc. IMHO, I could've bought each of these items separately at a grocery store for less money. Close to $50 for a full rack of ribs and some sides. Way too much for what it is. I noticed that the menu and marketing materials throughout the restaurant were updated since what was in store was different than what is on Yelp.
