Cats fish had a crunchy coating but inside was moist and tender. Greens were delicious. Potato salad and baked beans were simple like my Mom used to make. Fried chicken was excellent. Perfect balance of crunchy outside and moist tender meat. Gumbo was the best I have had. The place was packed with sit down and to go orders. Spokane loves this go to place for lunch. Great BBQ, but even better people. I'm not at all religious, but the lady that runs the place is the closest thing this world has to an angel. A homeless person came in and just puttered about for a while, but she treated her like a human being, directed her into being a paying customer, and kept everyone else in the restaurant happy with the situation. It's ok. Not the best. Not even in safe location at all. Had squatters actually laying against the door as we ate here. Then when we left a drunk homeless guy grabbed my bf arm and begged him for money. I don't recommend coming here after it's dark out, for safety reasons. Oh yes, I compare this fried chicken to KFC also, except the staff here know how to count chicken pieces, unlike the KFC location on Sprague and Sullivan. The fried chicken tastes *exactly* like KFC. No kidding. I've had some awesome fried chicken in my days, and this is not awesome at all. If you've ever been to the south, then you *know* what I'm talking about (and what Spokane is missing). Had collard greens, which were not good at all. They tasted like they had been simmering in vinegar all day, not as if they were simmering with a ham hock. You offer vinegar on the side, you don't add it to the greens. Mashed potatoes were ok and the gravy was ok, but again, I hate black pepper, especially in my mashed potatoes! The flecks of pepper were as big as horse teeth, I swear. The gravy had bacon and possibly sausage in it. It was ok, but would have been edible if they didn't go heavy on the pepper. The biscuits were good, but didn't seem home made. I was hoping the catfish here would be as delicious as the catfish po' boy I had at Pig Out at the Park. It wasn't. Oh, how I crave that catfish I had at Pig Out! I hope they (the business that was at Pig Out) brings a new location to town so some of us can have some real *awesome* southern food. read more

I have missed this place so much since moving from spokane. This is the best bbq i've ever had in Washington. Some of my favorites are the sandwhiches, the ribs, and of course the fried chicken but you really couldn't go wrong with anything on the menu. Yum Yum Yum. Good comfort food. Nice people and service. It's definitely not a baby friendly place but I would do a take out next time. The guy said he was going to charge extra $10 because we're nice people. It was a joke but I didn't get it at first because he said it with a straight face! I have eaten @ Chicken-N-More 2 times since I have been in Spokane and both times my experiences have been pleasant. I had Fried Chicken and Ribs the first time...and Catfish and Gumbo the second time. The fish and the chicken are excellent. Juicy and well seasoned...and fresh...thats something I look for. I wasn't really feeling the ribs...sauce was spicy for no reason and it was more oil based that i would like and upset my stomach. That being said..everything else was excellent. Beef brisket sandwich was excellent. The BBQ sauce was hella good. Wife had the chicken and I tried it and it was also good. Not too greasy. Sides we had were jojos and chili. Neither were spectacular, just ok. I would not call the place a dive, it's just a hole in wall. seating is limited. Can't say service is slow as they don't have service. It's counter walk up and seat yourself. It may take a little while because they cook your chicken as you order it. I saw a few people walk in with call in orders. I would give it 5 stars but it's pretty high priced so it's not somewhere I would go to lunch that often. read more

Best bbq in Spokane, hands down. Beef brisket sandwich in town by far. Might be the best sandwich overall in town. The bbq sauce is the best. Chicken great, ribs also. Rice and beans an awesome side. Their hot sausage, again, best in town. Things I don't like? The pulled pork sandwich is pure southern style and from what I understand is awesome, just not my cup of tea. Not much of a criticism. I always get the catfish with mashed potatoes and gravy. Occasionally ill have their fried chicken, I like the dark meat and its cooked just right. I think the dessert menu can be a little better and have more options. They did forget the ice cream we ordered and one of the sides too. I would suggest they put sweet tea on the menu! read more

After several agonizing minutes of my mouth watering as the delicious smell wafted through the air, my order was ready. Let me tell you that drive home was dangerous for the other motorists on the road, due to my inability to restrain myself from eating the entire order while driving. I mean DAMN! Every time I'm in Downtown for lunch, this is my #1 go to. It's small, but so welcoming, quiet and cozy, smooth jazz in the background, friendly stall and customers, it all works. Came in at 7:30 and placed an order they were out of almost half of their side dishes after waiting 30minutes for our food I asked the kitchen employee how much longer she thought it would be she rudely replied we were the last people to order and our food would be ready in a minute which took 10 more minutes to come then when I went to pay the cashier asked me when he ran my card if I would be leaving a tip when I stated no he had the nerve to ask why was it because of the wait to which I replied no due to rude employees the girl in the kitchen got super rude And started arguing with me telling me next time to call ahead when I replied that there would not be a next time I was told good they didn't care if I didn't come back after all that was said and done the gentleman cashier came to our table while we were eating and said he thought we owed the girl in the kitchen an apology because we were wrong And they he didn't care if we didn't come back to the restaurant either not only will I never be dining here again I will tell every single person I know to never eat there as well over price as well as under seasoned food read more

I've had the pulled pork sandwich, the beef brisket and the ribs. All of them, and their sides are pretty tasty. There is not a lot of BBQ in Spokane, but IMHO, this is probably the best. The women working here are very pleasant and professional. And even though we were out of town tourists and had a lot of questions were really nice to talk to and went out of their way to show us the best possible service. The small coleslaw was mayo based, huge and tasty. The hush puppies were on the smaller side and that batter reminded me of a corn dog casing but were still pretty good. The potato wedges called jojos were piping hot and good! I had the fried catfish and it was great, they brought me some garlic sauce which tasted amazing on the fish. Chicken N More is a little Texas BBQ place across from Irv's. It's open from 11-8, Monday to Saturday. In my opinion, it is the best southern food in town. They cook a lot of their dishes to order- not that it can be modified- so expect to spend a little time waiting for your food. IT WILL BE WORTH IT! The chicken is juicy on the inside & crispy on the outside, the ribs are tender, the pulled pork is fantastic, and they have side dishes galore! If you've never had collard greens, this is a great place to try some for about $1. I also recommend the mashed potatoes, baked beans, and homemade sweet potato pie. They also serve daily specials. The owners and staff are always friendly and helpful. If you like southern food & haven't tried Chicken N More, you're missing out :) read more
