It's beautiful inside with the dangling vines and clean counters, and it's in Woodside. It's a bit cozy, but it shares a space with Madame tea cafe. I love those Singapore curry puffs. What else stood out? I had the thief salad and the flavors were tart and sour and I felt it was okay. What an interesting blend of ingredients! Sweet sausage, fish balls, hot dog, grilled chicken, cut up grape tomatoes, onions, lettuce. Another thing we decided to order was the Jurassic chicken which was deep fried chicken with some pieces of fatty goodness and presented so beautifully. It was not bad. The waiter was super sweet, and he checked in on us to make sure we were enjoying ourselves. I would return and try more. I just felt like trying something new. read more

Tucked away along 39th Ave in what is seemingly the Little Bangkok portion of Woodside, Thailand's Center Point has been a steadily feeding the neighborhood and beyond for the past decade plus. For a family run establishment, I'd say they've done quite good overall. The place is extremely tight and not particularly group friendly. Anything smaller and it'd be a takeout spot, but this could be a cute setup for a solo diner or perhaps a casual date. Group diners might find some luck in the picnic table smack dab in the middle and the staff is usually zig zagging around the place. Food wise, it's not the pantheon of Thai cuisine, but it more than gets the job done. Their noodles dishes, particularly the pad see yu and pad thai are very tasty and their pineapple fried rice is a keeper despite the smallish portions. The chicken satay is plump and juicy, while the curry puffs seem to be one of their most popular appetizers. Based on the penang and massaman, I don't feel that curries are their strong point, but I'd be open to trying them again to see if I'm wrong. For a long while they were BYOB, and that was one of their biggest selling points of dining in. The service has always been fabulous and their takeout / delivery game is on point. I do hope they remain in the area for a long time because Woodside certainly wouldn't be the same without it. read more

I'm not sure why their website isn't working. It directs me to a site in Indonesian. Anyways, it isn't the restaurant site. So, I could only check out the menu on Yelp. I hoped that it was the most updated one. It was so that was good. The ambiance, or rather the decoration, was fairly nice. Even the bathroom was nicely decorated and very large. It could've been two stalls if you think about it. I'm not sure why a single person bathroom should be so big. Started off with two appetizers. One was the tofu popcorn, and the second one was the Crispy wontons. I didn't particularly like both, but if I had to choose, I would pick the tofu popcorn as the sauce way at the bottom with the peanuts was on point. For the entree, I got something from the section called - something so special. In it got the Pad mixed seafood with the spicy Thai herbs. I asked for spicy, and it tasted medium, so I had to ask for more hot sauce on the side to mix it in. I felt bad for the server as there was only one for the entire place. They needed more servers as she was sweating up a storm. Tried to get dessert, but they ran out. Oh wells! Extremely Disappointing Dining Experience I recently visited this establishment for dinner, and unfortunately, the experience left much to be desired. From start to finish, it was a series of disappointments that ultimately made the evening memorable for all the wrong reasons. Upon entering the restaurant, we were greeted with an ambiance that seemed promising, but the initial impression quickly faded as the evening unfolded. The troubles began with the service--or lack thereof. Throughout the entire evening, we only had one server attending to all the tables. And the restaurant was not even busy. The only customer was our group of 7 adults and 3 children, 1 couple by the windows table and another couple next to our table. This resulted in prolonged waits for even basic requests, such as taking our orders and bringing water to the table. The real frustration, however, was the food service. Our orders came out with a noticeable 10-15 minute gap between dishes. This not only disrupted the flow of our meal but also meant that some of us had finished our food while others were still waiting for their plates to arrive. Upon requesting multiple times if the food can come together, the server added his statement that they have only 2 kitchen staff at the moment. Which I understand totally but if you have let us know before hand that way we will be prepared for the consequences. It's disheartening to say that this kind of service is far from what one expects when dining out. Equally disappointing was the quality of the food itself. While we didn't anticipate a gourmet experience, we did hope for flavors that would at least match the price point of the menu items. Sadly, the dishes we sampled were merely average--lacking the depth and finesse that would justify the cost. When we decided to provide feedback about our experience, we were met with an unexpected and unwelcome attitude from both the owner and the lone server. Instead of addressing our concerns with professionalism and a willingness to improve, they responded defensively and even retaliated, casting a shadow over our willingness to give constructive criticism. In conclusion, our visit to this establishment was a major letdown. The subpar service, prolonged gaps between dishes, and average food quality all contributed to an evening that fell well below our expectations. It's unfortunate when a dining experience becomes a negative memory, but we hope that our feedback might encourage the restaurant to take steps towards improvement in the future. read more

Ordered from them last night through GrubHub. Got a pad ginger and a pad cashew. When I received the bag it felt light. It didn't include rice. I don't know about when I order Thai or Chinese I expect rice to come with the dish except for noodle or rice dishes Called the restaurant, told them I was missing the rice. Told me it doesn't come with it and asked if this was my first time ordering. Now I am guess that they have been getting calls from customers that they are missing rice. No where in the menu does it say this. The prices in the menu aren't less then others that serve rice with it. The food also wasn't good. Didn't like the pad cashew, the chicken was fried and when I get this dish it usually isn't. I was disappointed with this place. The person answering my phone call was unprofessional and rude. I have my usual spots for Thai food, but heard great things about this spot and wanted to give it a try (pre-quarantine days, of course) For appetizers we got the wings and curry puff which were both fantastic. The wings were kinda tiny, but you get a lot in an order so definitely shareable. I've been eyeing the crispy papaya salad photos from yelp for the longest time ever. However, personally, was a bit too much for me. I was hoping there was half fresh papaya on the bottom but the whole dish is fried. If we haven't overordered already I would've totally ordered another papaya salad and mixed them together. We also got the soft shell crab in green curry (which was amazing, albeit a bit pricey) and drunken noodle (kee mao). Great flavor profile in both. This is the Thai restaurant underdog. I'm almost glad it's a well-kept secret. I've been coming here for years, and the food was absolutely delicious! The flavors were so authentic and bold, I could taste every ingredient in every dish. We are Thai so I'd like to say we know a thing or two about authenticity. I started with the traditional Tom Yum soup, which had just the right amount of spiciness and sourness to wake up my taste buds. The Pad Thai was also exceptional - the noodles were perfectly cooked and the sauce was the perfect balance of sweet and savory. While the food was undeniably fantastic, the service could have been better. Our waiter seemed a bit disinterested and we had to flag him down a few times for refills on our drinks. However, the quality of the food more than made up for any shortcomings in service. Overall, if you're a fan of Thai food and looking for some of the best around, this restaurant is definitely worth a visit. I was very pleasantly surprised by this place. There are so many thai places in this neighborhood, it's hard to differentiate yourself and stand out. But stand out they did. I was expecting your average takeout quality, but this place really seemed to put a little extra care into their food. In an attempt to make slightly healthier takeout choices, I got the kao mun khai (steamed) and veggie pad kee mao. The veggies in the noodle dish were abundant and seasoned perfectly. The noodles themselves had the ideal texture and the egg added another layer of flavor. I didn't miss the meat at all and thoroughly enjoyed the dish. The chicken was really good as well. The sauce on the side had some tanginess to it. The rice was delicious, even by itself. Overall, an excellent meal. Dare I say, I think I've found my new go-to thai spot. read more

Honestly, I've been taking my friends/fam here often enough that I don't know why it's taken until now for me to update my review!! Specifically, I LOVE the oxtail soup (I ask for flat noodles on the side) and ALL THE LARBS but particularly the larb salad and their loaded salads in general. But honestly, I have never had a bad dish off the menu and that's saying a lot! This might seem random but one of my favvvvvorite things to order is the tofu popcorn appetizer: I think it's just an incredible combination of crispy, fresh, crunchy, tangy, and sweet from the tamarind, butter, crushed peanuts, and herbs. SO worth it. All in all, TCP is my favorite kind of restaurant to support: a family-run business that's been in the neighborhood for a really long time. It started as a grocery, and now as a restaurant. It's a pleasure to see it evolving (particularly with new additions for dessert and specials) over the years. I have been avoiding it before when I used to live in the area. And then suddenly I was inspired to eat Northern Thailand food after all the happy news of finding the soccer team who went spelunking then got lost. Food will be the best way to celebrate this good news. It's still an ongoing ordeal but this is my gesture of showing I'm with Thailand on this My favorite Issan dish is the super spicy khao soi so I ordered it. We also tried the blue crab dish and the crunchy popcorn tofu! All came out good but the service is rather drab because the wait was so long. I didn't mind the wait though because the ambience is relaxed and I felt right at home in their cavernous and well-designed space. I have been to Chiang Mai and the feeling of the restaurant is like being transported back to Northern Thailand. As I always say, if a restaurant's food and ambience work together to transport me to foreign lands, then it means they are doing very well! Must try in Queens. read more

Thailand's Center Point is a gem in Woodside. My boyfriend and I order from here a lot. The food is super authentic, and very delicious. This place is my favorite Thai restaurant in all of Woodside. I often order their Crispy Papaya Salad, and their Pad See Ew with Tofu. The flavor of their dishes are always on point, and they never shy away from their spices. Their portions are generous, and the service is really good. They are a family-owned restaurant, and they really believe in their food and services. They make one of the best Thai Iced Teas in Queens, as it has the right amount of sweetness, tea, and half and half. We also order their Ox Tail soup often, which is very flavorful, and I feel healthier just drinking it. read more

This right here, is a great spot for Thai. I can't say enough nice things about Center Point. The food is good, the staff is nice, and it's got a touch of uniqueness that I wish more restaurants had. Decor is interesting and comfortable. You'll notice that tables are concrete -- a Center Point special. A large island bar / front counter divides the restaurant west from east. West are more tables for you and your party. East is a small cafe like area. I have yet to enjoy the cafe area, but I expect it's great if it's anything like the main restaurant portion. You can enjoy a bit of television on the large screen against the north wall, or just chat with friends. Coming solo? That's ok, talk with imaginary friend, but be sure not to have the conversation out loud as folks might start staring in jealousy. Finally, I'll mention that I really enjoy Center Point because it's a local treasure. All the hipsters from Brooklyn and Manhattan are going to take a number down the block at Sri Pa Phai, but thankfully Center Point exists serving up equally great food. It's a family-owned business with Chef Annie at the helm, you'll always feel like you're being treated to an authentic home cooked Thai meal. From traditional dishes like Thai Basil Fried Rice (I always add a fried egg and fish sauce), Larb, Green Curry, and Thai Rama to the more signature unique specialties like Crispy Fried Papaya Salad, and Tofu Popcorn, you'll be in total bliss. This review is only for the thai iced tea. It seemed like there was only one person managing the whole restaurant. A middle aged lady quickly took my order and got me the tea quickly. Little did I know that she would take on a whole other persona over the phone. After I discovered that I misplaced metrocard I gave the restaurant a call to see if I had dropped it there. One word is enough to describe her tone: RUDE. After I nicely asked if I had dropped my metrocard there, she snapped at me saying "I'm standing right here and there's nothing!" then abruptly hung up on me. Thank goodness for the good people of Woodside who left my metrocard in the middle of the crosswalk where I had dropped it. Whew almost lost $10. What if I was about to order something? She would have just lost a customer. I was looking forward to trying this place's dishes but now I don't know if I want to even go back. I was going to give 3 stars for the iced tea (it was really sweet and 2/3rd of the cup was ice). But because of the bad customer service I am really tempted to give it 1 star. read more

Small place that seats about 30 people. Which means slow service. But whatever... I started with a thai iced tea, as I do at every thai place because it's the single most important factor determining how good the restaurant is to me. IT WAS GOOD. I was craving crab fried rice, but they ran out for some reason. So I went for the soft shell crab instead. It was crispy and tasty but I couldn't finish it because it was such a huge portion. I also felt fat afterwards, but that's just me. We got a bunch of appetizers, which were all good but not memorable. Everything was blah (including my favorite, pad see ew) and just alright until... THE THAI ICE CREAM. AKA thai iced tea in ice cream form. They gave us 2 full scoops each. It was delicious, creamy, thai iced tea tasting goodness. My first visit to Thailand's Center Point was when they first opened a few years ago. I always remembered that their food was pretty good. For some strange reason, I haven't been back until now. What a big disappointment. First, can we address the discrepancy in the name of this restaurant? Is it still Thailand Center Point.....or is it really Little Ginger (as stated on their menu)? I actually asked the waiter about the name discrepancy and he literally waved his hand at me and brushed me off. I persisted, and asked him if the current owners are still the original owners of Thailand Center Point and he said yes, yes, yes, same. Something is fishy.....and I ain't talking about the fish sauce! Anyway, since Sri Pra Phai (which was down the block) was closed, we decided to dine here. Compared to the original opening of this restaurant, the food has gone down hill. The service and most of our dishes were just "ok". Again, so disappointed. Here is our menu (shared by 3 ppl): ~ Crispy papaya salad with soft shell crab - this one dish was actually decent, although I would have enjoyed it more if the papaya wasn't deep fried. ~ Thai seafood salad - so bland and boring! ~ Beef with green curry - not crazy about the beef but the green curry was pretty good. ~ Duck with tamarind sauce - duck wasn't crispy enough and it was a little too well done for my tastes. I think this is my new favorite low-key and authentic Thai restaurant in Queens. I've been here a few years back and they used to be a Thai grocery store and also sold takeout Thai food. It has transformed to a restaurant now and I am pleasantly surprised. Compared to Sri Pra Thai just a block away. This is a much more chill but cute Thai place. The renovations and set up is cute and a little rustic. Let's focus on the food. We had a green papaya salad. It's $8.5 a pop, priced higher than Manhattan, but it is one of the better ones I've had. The flavor is well balanced. I loved the dressing! We also order a pad kee mao with mock duck and a pad Kra Pow with pork. I like how the pad kee mao was cooked with high heat and the mock duck was a little burned. It's really good. If you are a vegetarian, you will love this. The pad Kra pow really deserves a thumb up too. The flavor was super yummy, it tasted like a mix of a restaurant standard and home cook flavors. It's definitely one of the better version of pad kra pow out there. We wanted it Thai spicy. It wasn't that spicy, according to my husband. I guess this won't be my last time going to Thailand's Center Point. I can't wait to try their other dishes! read more

Came here on Wednesday afternoon on my day off and ordered Green Curry with Shrimp from the lunch menu. Pretty good deal since it came with an eggroll and a salad for 8.95. I was really hungry and ate the whole thing. Since I didn't want cook later for dinner, decided to do an order takeout for their panang curry with shrimp. This is the portion they gave me even without rice. All for 12.95. Make sure when you order takeout here that you check how much they give you. I was foolish enough to check the bag halfway home to see a very disappointing portion size for the amount I paid. UPDATE: They called me to apologize for the portion they gave me (since I called to let them know my disappointment). Since it's cash only they said they will refund me $4 or a free Thai iced tea next time I head there. read more

Came here on a Sunday around 4:30 PM. The place was completely empty and a bit dim in the light but well decorated. All the cutlery and plates are disposable which is a little bit of a bummer if you are eco-friendly. The Thai iced tea was on point, I also had cheese puffs which were basically cheese inside fried dough with a sweet chili mayo. And I had the signature papaya salad. We also had beef pad Thai, the coconut soup and Fried ice cream. As well as strawberry milk latte. I can just comment on the cheese puffs and papaya salad and the fried ice cream which is what I had. The papaya salad was OK there was a lot of crispy pieces mostly and definitely not your traditional papaya salad it had shrimp and squid and it was good I just did not expect it to be fried like that and was looking for something a bit more fresher. The fried ice cream I wouldn't necessarily recommend it didn't have the puffy soft dough that they usually have. And the cheese puffs were also OK not much to say about them but pretty basic. Nothing was delicious or a must but if I lived nearby this place would be a reliable take out. read more

Take a page from the old dudes sort of reading newspaper and sort of watching tv and don't try to be going anywhere in a hurry because Thailand's Center Point makes some good food, but they do not make it quickly. The crispy papaya salad is one of those tasty no brainers where you wonder how it's not a thing. I guess you don't taste the papaya that much, but crunchy bits mixed with fish sauce, seafood, peanuts, and the rest of the fixings works. The penang curry is flavorful and interestingly very sweet. The sign on the window say "Home-made Thai Food." So this place have been on my "must try" list for a while. My Yelp friend and I decided to have lunch Thailand's Center Point this past weekend. Our meal included: Oxtail soup $8.50- very different from my idea of oxtail soup. Tangy & slightly spicy soup with tender oxtail. A delicious start to a meal. Rate 5/5. Red Curry with duck $7.95- Large portion of duck with red curry sauces and veggies. Very tasty. Rate 4/5. Pad Khee Mao with pork $7.95- (also known a Thai Drunken Noodles) we asked for medium hot; delicious mix of spices and fresh noodles. Rate 5/5. Fried Ice Cream (vanilla) $5- crispy fried coating; a large portion enough for two! Rate 4/5. This restaurant and their chef is a hidden gem for delicious Thai dishes and is just one block from another "commercially" famous Thai place which have have been numerous time.
