Stopped by here while in Vegas for a quick lunch. It's more of a restaurant than a stand. We sat down at one of the few tables on the inside. Orders are taken at the counter. The staff seemed primarily spanish speaking and made the atmosphere feel more authentic. I had a beef burrito and cheese enchilada combo plate which was alright. The carne asada burrito had chunks of beef similar to pot roast. It was plain, simple and filling. The burrito had a tad bit too much fat though. I don't eat fat and I like to eat everything put in my burrito. The cheese enchiladas were enjoyable. My son had chicken quesadillas and did not finish them. I don't think he found them to be great. After a morning hike I was really craving some crispy tacos. This spot is fast-casual with maybe eight tables, very simple inside, but the kitchen smells were immediately promising. I ordered a chicken and beef hard taco combo with rice and beans, and my man went for a carne asada torta. We tried asking what came in the burritos, but the lady working the counter didn't speak English, and with a line forming behind us, I didn't want to hold things up with my translator, lol. Moments like this remind me that taking French in school was charming but a deeply impractical choice. Now for the good: my man loved his torta, stuffed with juicy carne asada on soft, pillowy bread. My rice and beans were flavorful and comforting, and the medium housemade salsa was so delicious I put it on everything. Where things fell apart were the hard tacos. Plated straight from the fryer, still sizzling, and so greasy that I had oil running down my hands from first to last bite. Let those babies rest for sixty seconds. They were huge, which kind of explained the nearly $5 price for each, but potato tacos shouldn't cost the same as chicken or beef. And my beef taco had two large chunks of pure fat that I spit out. Everything was cook to order!! All of the ingredients were scrumptious! I enjoyed my breakfast burrito. It didn't take long to prepare, less than 10 minutes. The breakfast burrito was huge! Was craving elotes and this place was close so I gave it a try. I ordered an elote with Hot Cheetos and was surprised by the charge of $8.12. I've never paid that much for elote. To my surprise, it was esquites (elote in the cup) but still $8.12 seems pretty steep for this one item. This is a cute family ran business next to a big church right across from Santa Fe Station. I ordered a quesobirria taco and carne asada taco The carne asada taco had whole pinto beans in it, something I'm not used to. I was just expecting cilantro and onion. The tortilla was a thick corn one. Now that I think about it, it may be a mix of corn and flour. Too thick for my preference. I ordered a side of rice and beans and the beans had no flavor so I asked for red and green hot sauce. Both were very diluted. Neither carried any heat whatsoever and it did not add flavor to the beans. My birria taco was served on the same thick tortilla and by the time I got around to eating it, it was already falling apart. My birria was also pale compared to what I'm used to, which reflected in the flavor. I often hear restaurant owners say they have to reduce seasonings in their food to appease the type of customers they serve. I do believe given the location, this establishment is not exempt from that practice. The food wasn't nasty, it was fresh and decent. Maybe I'll come back and try a carne asada burrito but it's hard to say when there are so many other places that serve the same food. read more
