I know about Tacos El Gordo but it wasn't near us and I didn't want to call a ride down to it. I didn't some research online and Chilangos was the next one that was talked about and it was a 3 minute walk. From the moment you walk near the stall, you can smell it. The tacos were delicious. I had seen countless TikToks about Chilangos before my Vegas trip and every single time I walked by there was a crowd. When we finally decided to stop by, every table was filled and people were waiting around for seats. We actually spent about five minutes looking for a table after ordering because the place was so packed. The menu looked promising too. They offer different meat options, signature tacos, quesadillas, nachos, and sides. We decided to keep it simple and ordered two Al Pastor tacos ($4.25 each) and one Signature Ribeye Taco ($6.50). The Al Pastor wasn't that great. The meat was sliced thin, but somehow it completely lost that classic Al Pastor flavor. No real smokiness. It wasn't bad, it was just ok. The ribeye taco somehow managed to be even more disappointing. For $6.50, I expected a little more substance. The ribeye was small and tin that it felt like there was barely any meat in the taco. The grilled cheese was minimal and the caramelized onions didn't really add anything. They lacked that sweetness and richness that usually makes grilled onions so good.The steak was dry. I've been in Vegas for four days, and I love tacos usually I stick to a well-known spot at the far end of the Strip. But I randomly came across this place, and let me tell you... The meat was perfectly marinated, super flavorful, and they kept the toppings simple, which I actually love. No overwhelming "build-your-own" chaos - just done right. My friend got the barbacoa taco and was obsessed. Next day, we switched it up quesabirrias (so good, crispy, cheesy, everything you want) and a chorizo taco that had the perfect kick. By the last day, I had to circle back to the barbacoa myself... and wow. Lived up to the hype. Even their chips and salsa? Surprisingly incredible. I'm a big fan of Mexican food and have access to many great options living in So Cal. So, this was a place that I was looking forward to trying in Vegas but it was just okay. Maybe 3.5 stars as the quality is there but the flavors just didn't pack a good punch for me? I did opt for flour tortillas on everything since they gave me the option and maybe I should have gotten corn tortillas as they do make fresh corn tortillas from masa (did not know this until after I ordered my food)? The ribeye tacos may have been the best thing I tried. The salsas also didn't hit for me but they are spicy so you'll get a kick. All open air seating that allows you to eat and people watch. We tried the pastor and barbacoa tacos. Both meats were well seasoned and cooked perfect. We went opening night. The restaurant was extremely busy. The service was fast. Customer service was great. Food was even better. The reason why I gave them three stars is because they told us they close at 2 AM. We left to go get drinks walk the strip a little bit in return returned at 12:45 to a closed restaurant. The workers were still sitting in there so we asked the manager in one of the workers while they closed early. I thought you said you closed at 2 AM and they said oh you know our workers are tired. It's been a really busy night. It was opening but don't worry we opened up tomorrow at 10 AM and we'll close at 2 AM so we said OK? Cool understandable I guess. Next day Friday we went around three in the afternoon to get lunch before a concert that we were attending a tacos again the tacos were extremely extremely good warning. The spicy sauce is very spicy gave me a headache and I love spicy food, but I still recommend since we were running late. I told my boyfriend I wanted to come back after the concert to try to nachos so we left once the concert came back at 1:15a and guess what the restaurant was closed. We were so pissed so I will say if you're going to go, they will be open in the afternoon but if you try to go late at night after being drunk and having a good time wanting some good old nachos or tacos, don't risk it they don't stick to their hours of operations. SMH $50+ for 8 tacos and 2 quesadillas. (And the quesadilla was the size of a taco). We placed our order at the counter and waited for about 30 minutes for our order to be ready. In that time, I observed SO MANY disgusting things happening in the restaurant, I questioned if I even wanted to eat the quesadilla I ordered. First I noticed the man grilling the meat used the SAME gloves to handle RAW meat and proceeded to cut up the cooked meat. Then, (the girl pictured with the black gloves) took out the trash, came back and replaced the horchata, and added ice using her hands all using the SAME pair of gloves! One last thing I noticed was how close one trash can (also pictured) is directly next to the deep fryer! I understand the high food prices since it's Vegas and all but I guess if you drink enough you won't notice all the other unsanitary stuff going on. I assume they have to live up to their B rating!
