I recently heard Chili's Grill & Bar has achieved 20 consecutive quarters of positive same-store sales growth, so I wanted to see what is the appeal to so many people. The restaurant was packed for lunch! We were seated immediately, our waiter took our drink order right away, our waiter returned with drinks, and we ordered a few minutes after being seated. I had one of the 3ForMe specials: the Big Smasher Burger. My appetizer, a side salad, arrived a few minutes after we ordered. The burger, fries, and salad were good, as I expected for Chili's. My oldest daughter was in town for a brief visit this weekend. She wanted to meet for dinner at this Chili's location, and introduce me to her companion. The restaurant was busy for a Friday night. Once inside, we were quickly seated at a booth. A pleasant server came to take our drink orders while I was deciding on a wine; my daughter and her companion ordered margaritas. I wasn't seeing anything I liked, so I asked the server to recommend a sweet, fruity wine. She chose Pinot Grigio, which in my opinion is a dry wine. I made do with it since I wasn't in a drinking mood. I wasn't very hungry so I settled on a bowl of loaded baked potato soup. Wow, I would have thought that my server was at a 5 star restaurant with the amazing service that we had for lunch over the weekend. The restaurant was pretty crowded and with good reason. The drinks were quickly delivered and refilled when needed. The "3 for me" deal cannot be beat. My husband had the QP Burger and I tried the new crispy spicy chicken sandwich. To start, their chips and salsa is my favorite. Thin and crispy with a good medium salsa. The burger is served either pink in the middle or cooked all the way. The side choices are also plentiful. The Crispy Chicken sandwich was a basic menu battered and fried chicken breast. The spice came from the mayonnaise which had a nice kick. I thought that the meal was great and although there is no more point program for rewards, where can you go for a sit down lunch with a non alcohol beverage, appetizer, and a full meal at a sit down restaurant and have a bill for under $13.00? I usually only do take out but today I actually dined in for the first time in years. I didn't order too much of anything since I wasn't hungry. I was with a group of girls and I was there for the vibes. Anyway, I was surprised when I got my spice-a-rita. I didn't expect to actually be able to taste the alcohol in it. From memory anytime I've had drinks at any Chili's it tastes more like juice than anything. Our server Princess was amazing. Food was not its best we ordered the Smash burger, loaded fries, salad, Mac and cheese, regular fries, enchilada soup and a Grilled chicken bacon Guac sandwich it came in regular hamburger bread it was asked for in Brioche, Guacamole was black and bitter and food was cold so not the best experience. The place was packed and we initially thought we'd have to wait a bit for our server. We were wrong. Our server was right there and took our drink order. Once someone showed up, she just started handing it out without checking names, orders, drinks, etc not knowing how long any orders have been sitting there (ours was 10+ min late and i still hadn't received the text it was ready even though it was sitting there). Our order was correct, but upon arriving home 4 min later, we live two blocks away, the triple dipper was cold but reheatable. Well this was a VERY disappointing dinner. I was just going to order a plate of the Southwestern Eggrolls but my husband told me to get the Triple Dipper for a couple bucks more so I did and selected Chicken Crispers, Southwestern Eggrolls and Big Mouth Bites. We also ordered the Classic Nachos with Beef. I was really enjoying the flavor of the Big Mouth Bites until I got to the middle and saw that the meat was raw. My husband had the other Big Mouth Bites and his was perfectly fine. After having the raw burger, I was a little leery about the rest of the food and couldn't tell if the Chicken Crispers were undercooked or just processed meat so I ended up not eating them. Fortunately the Southwestern Egg Rolls were good BUT there was a clump of something in the sauce which looked like it could have been a clump of avocado that was the size of a pat of butter. My husband thought the nachos were good. We pointed out the clump that was in the sauce and the chicken to our waitress. She was speechless and offered a replacement. We didn't take her up on it because it took a long time to get our food and we didn't want to wait again. So, it's Chili's, right? Expectations are pretty low going in. But, free chips and salsa with your loyalty card and a pretty decent happy hour special is enough to lure me in after a crazy day at work. Well, speaking of work, a group of us visited Chili's yesterday, just to unwind after a long week. Eight people total. So, as we trickle in, we attempted to push two high top tables together. NO, NO, NO!! Apparently, putting two four-top bar tables together "causes" COVID. Literally, the maskless, so-sorry-about-your-career general manager came out to shame us for attempting to violate the "COVID restrictions." What COVID restrictions, you may ask? I don't know, because there are none. The servers, for the most part, weren't wearing masks (and those who were had their noses hanging out). The bar was shoulder to shoulder. Even the hostess staff was maskless. But, for the sake of all things holy, do not move these two tables. Even funnier, the tables were at an angle (see photos), and were only six inches apart. I mean, we all sat around these two tables anyway. Even the servers brought all of our food, took our orders, and brought ONE check. But, DO NOT MOVE THE TABLE. Dumbest of dumb.
