An enjoyable dining out experience for me requires 3 things: 1) Service which is entirely staff dependent; 2) Quality which is as much about the food as it is the environment; and 3) Value which is about the price paid for that experience. If one component fails the dining experience is a disappointment. I'm sorry to say we were disappointed in our experience at this Chili's restaurant last night due to the failure of Service. Specifically the bartender/server needs training, a personality makeover, or to just needs to quit her job. After 40 plus years of dining out for 4-5 meals a week for breakfast, lunch or dinner, we have found that when it's just the 2 of us we more often have our best dining experience when we sit at the counter. We find the service quicker, food hotter, drinks colder, the coffee refilled sooner, etc, etc, all contributing to a better experience. This was not our experience last night and it wasn't even busy even for a Tuesday night. I know businesses of all kinds are having trouble with hiring and retaining staff. Many business owners and managers I speak with tell me they're having to pay more for help and still getting just mediocre service from staff and no loyalty. Sometimes it takes just one experience to shed some light on a bigger issue. We are a consumer driver society which is the model for capitalism and not a worker driven society which is the model for socialism. Socialism won't succeed because as consumers we are not going to keep paying for a mediocre dining experience, products that fail, or shop with retailers that have unhelpful or unknowledgeable staff. These businesses not meeting consumer standards will go out of business eventually and the failing employees will end up on government subsidies that unhappy consumers will foot the bill on through higher taxes. It's a downward spiral for our country unless we can get us all back to believing our best way to personal and financial success is performing a stand out work effort, whatever it is, that gets you more pay from employers and ultimately consumers that appreciate it. I did my part and while I wouldn't have tipped at all our server, I left a 3% tip because I assume tips are shared with the kitchen staff. And I won't be returning to this place again. read more

Not a big fan of the chain but this however was not a bad experience. The decor was more upscale than other chili's I have been to. The waiting for a table was brief and the server seemed new but was pleasant. With an appetizer and drinks for three and entrees the bill was 87. I've lived in the The Villages for over 17 years, and someone early on dragged me to Chili's. I say "dragged" because I was not a fan of Mexican food. I tried some dishes for the first time, and they were, shock of shocks, good. Who knew? I don't recall now how soon thereafter Chili's started doing ribs, but for these many years now I have become a great fan of Chili's. The ribs are wonderful, and they offer a sauce-less dry rub that is delicious. When I want ribs, I go to Chili's. My friends have other favorites, as well. The service is excellent; in fact, it's one of few restaurants where the servers seem genuinely happy to see their customers. (When a table is empty and people are waiting, it's because the manager is waiting for a server to be available for the table.) My friends and I go there often, especially for someone's birthday, and we always end with shared chocolate molten lava cake. The best. Oh -- and happy hour is happy day -- all day. I just read some of the low ratings with dismay and had to add my opinion. (My opinion is rarely humble and always right.) read more

Worse service ever. Will never give my money to this location. Placed a Togo order. No condiments were given. When I had to go back inside, they had the nerve to say, " It's in the bag" no napkins and no eating utensils were given. The staff has been locked in their homes too long due to covid and it has turned them into savages eating with their hands and wiping their mouth with their clothes. We went to our "old faithful" Chili's in The Villages Once again it was very good. This is why we keep coming back. I was at Chili's with my dad and we had ordered a beer for him and a root-beer for me and there was a girl working at the bar and we did not receive a root-beer which was$1.06 and we got our food payed and we talked to the lady because it only charged us for the root-beer and the lady was really rude and said " Oh here you go " and handed us a $1 bill and she was really rude to us we left and now we can't contact Chili's or call Chili's. It was really rude and we do not have her name but she was working there until like 8:45 P.M. The bar area waiter "big shot" he always has an attitude and he's a terrible waiter. We have been coming to this restaurant since it opened and this wasn't the first time we've had an in incident with this guy. Tonight we decided to give the bar area another chance and guess who was our waiter? Big shot again...the attitude and lack service started from the get go and went downhill. He forgot part of the order, beverages were late and even had drinks spilled on us. Instead of calling the manager to fix the situation, he had a manager bring a check to the table without us receiving our meals or the manager knowing what really transpired. The manager (Brad) was surprised to find out from us. At the end of the day kudos to Brad for taking care of us and understanding our side of the story. We enjoyed the 2 meals for $25 which included appetizer, entree, and a shared dessert. We paid an extra $2 to upgrade for the molten chocolate lava cake with ice cream and were glad we did. Husband enjoyed margarita chicken as it was moist and flavorful. Chicken fajita was great. We had enough left overs for lunch for two the next day. I've always been a big Chili's fan I like the food the drinks and the specials are great but for some reason the Chili's in the villages the quality of food has gone down in the last two years couple of days ago I place an order to go when I got home the food was horrible to the point that I had to stop eating it and I threw it away I have also notice there's a big turn around in that place that could be it service is still pretty good but they need to do something about the food it's not consistent and that's a big problem I think corporate needs to come in and re-train everybody and fix this problem read more

A female server (sorry do not know her name) is an excellent barkeep and is always aware if you need something. BTW World of Beer service is horrible. I will not leave you simpletons off the hook. The 2 for $25 looked much better on the menu than on our table. The pigs which gave up their baby back ribs must have been too fast to catch until they were older & their ribs had gotten large & their meat tough. Really poor compared to all the other area restaurants in the area that serve baby backs. The sirloin was cooked perfectly but seasoning was weak. Mashed potatoes were just okay. However, dessert was memorable & the service couldn't have been better. Beware of that the kiosk on the table. Play a bit of trivia- $2 added to your bill with no warning. I went last Saturday night and the wait was bad because no manager or hostesses were cleaning the empty tables. Many tables were available and I was watching to see how long before they would clear and seat someone. It was bad. Then we finally sat down and ordered. The food is good, but not worth the 45-minute wait. Also, the noise level is horrible. We had to ask twice to have the music turned down because we couldn't even talk across the table. The wait staff is nice, but because of the noise level, they have to be even louder than the music. At one point, the waiter was helping me and he screamed to someone else working there that was across the room. Who does that? I guess if you like a noisy sports bar the bar area is a good fit for you. I like to be with my friends, but I do not like to have to yell across the table to chat with them. When the drinks were served, the waiter slammed them down on the table so hard that some of the drinks ended up on the table. When the food came, it took the waiter three tries to bring us what we ordered. It seems that as The Villages retirement community grows larger, the less attentive they are to the needs of the patrons. Rude is the only word that I could use to describe the behavior of the people in the bar area. This is no reflection on the restaurant staff, but it does make for an uninviting atmosphere. My service was absolutely horrible. I'm a bartender and worked in service and I have never treated anyone like they are less than because of the color of their skin. I was pretty much the only person of color in this place and it showed....I got horrible service. Everyone was having an exceptional time and great service and I was left alone. No drink reorders and I was ignored when trying to flag down my server. My money is the same color as everyone else's. I have worse words for that a hole but I'm gonna keep it to myself.
