While it hasn't been our first pick in a long time for reasons that are probably snobbish and unfair, if you've not been to Chili's in a while, I highly recommend checking it out. In a world where you'd have to spend close to $20 ea at McD's for not even a similar amount of food, much better options for two for not a lot more money would be a Classic Rib Eye, with loaded baked potato and broccoli for $24, and a Steak, Chicken, and (pictured) the Shrimp Fajita Trio plate with Rice, Beans with a generous side of avocado, cheddar cheese, sour cream, pico de gallo, limes and flour tortillas for the same price. Both were generous, perfectly prepared, and delicious. I'm a chef. I'm fussy. I can make it better myself at home or work, but I like to go out and have someone else make my food sometimes. This did not disappoint in any form. I can't tell you when I've had a meal out in the last year that made us as happy as this did without costing a fortune, and this location, with its clean and homey atmosphere, did it right. GO!

Nasty looking ranch dressing you all gave me

I had ordered buffalo wings in store to go. First, I noticed 5 uncovered pitchers of ice tea. Flies/insects can get in there. If workers see the flies, they will probably fish it out and still serve it, and if they do not see it, then a customer will get a fly in their ice tea. Please cover the ice tea on the bar counter. This is so unsanitary. Secondly, you gave me ranch dressing that looks like it came off someone else's used plate. Of course, I threw it in the trash. Needless to say, I ate naked buffalo wings. I was not happy about this at all. I'm from Maryland and love Chili's and expected the same service in Kentucky. Thank you for listening. They won't me post the iconic picture so everyone can see what i was given. They said photo failed. I reposted the picture so hopefully you can see what they gave me.

My overall experience didn't give me the dire need to want to visit again. If I do decide to come back, I may try sitting at the bar. I would most likely try other locations before coming back though. The service wasn't the worst, but there were definitely times where I felt I wasn't being taken care of. I was sitting at the table half empty water glass, empty drink glass, all of my food eaten just waiting to order another drink. For a Friday night, it was slow. So, there was no reason why a party of 1 was left unattended. The fact that the first drink was allowed to leave the bar & come out to me is wild. I tasted straight tequila, and there was no strawberry purée--- which is one of the ingredients of the drink. The second drink was much better, but I had to ask for strawberry purée. I payed on the kiosk at the table, because at this point I'm ready to go. I find it funny how as soon as I got up and started walking towards the door, I was acknowledged. "Hey, you leaving?" "Hope you have a great weekend", blah blah blah, etc.

Chili's franchise that is tucked off of Preston Highway towards the okolona/hillview borderline in Lousiville Kentucky. Chilis is an American food establishment that has quite a few locations. I particularly enjoy their food. The chicken margarita is a tasty low calories meal and they have a solid steak that is every bit as good or on par with competitors like say an Applebees. This location has always had solid to good service. The interior nicely sized and decorated with bright colors and some local support of nearby schools and events. For years there was a picture of my now 13 year old daughter in her pre k class playing tug of war at there school field day (as of 2021 the picture has been taken down). So it has that neighborhood vibe to the establishment. Overall pretty good place that we dine at a few times a year. It has solid food, good service and a nice sized menu with good low calorie options.

I go to this restaurant often and always have a great experience. The bartenders are experienced and knowledgeable, food is always great and the environment is always good.

Receipt of my food...clearly outlining extra ranch and extra avocado ranch and no bacon.

Ordered via door dash. Triple dipper with honey chipotle chicken crispers, egg rolls and big mouth bites no bacon. Ordered extra ranch and avocado ranch. And chips and salsa. Dasher had to wait for food per the text messages from door dash. Food arrived cold. Honey chipotle chicken crispers were three finger wide strips of shoe leather. Great sauce flavor, but chicken was co tough had to grind teeth just to bite into it. Dogs got those. Egg rolls were good. Just not hot, or even warm. Wanted my extra sauce...he'll just wanted the avocado ranch, none in there. Ate those. Big mouth bites were to have no bacon. Showed up cold hard and with bacon. Dogs got those too! Dinner was chips and salsa and egg rolls with ranch.

It could just be mediocre pub food, but the food here is very, very good. I don't know why, but when I'm in the south, I get the hankering for a deviled egg. So we started with the deviled eggs (Los Huevos El Diablo), which, despite the name, were not super spicy. They had just the right amount of spice. One thing to know about me is: If I see a patty melt on the menu, I will order that. So I got the Merle's Melt, which is a burger patty with cheddar and Monterey jack cheese, plus bacon and special sauce on buttered toast. It was sublimely tasty! It comes with house-made chips, which were good. They also offer tacos on the menu. One of my children got one steak taco and one chicken taco. The tacos are topped with tomato, lettuce and cojita cheese. I was told that these were very good! My kid eats like a bird, but ate one and a half tacos, so that must say something, right? The Lip Smack'n Mac & Cheese was also ordered, as well as the fried chicken, because the menu says that the fried chicken is award-winning, so how could we not? The fried chicken was super crispy and tasty, and the mac and cheese was creamy and made with large shells, which is the best kind of pasta to use for mac and cheese (in my opinion). The service was great, the lighting was great, and we were seated quickly, even though they seemed busy. It was a good place to have a family dinner in Louisville.

I really liked that they have lunch specials every day. On Thursday, the special was a Chimichanga, and the price was very reasonable. Since the restaurant had recently been renovated, it seemed like there were quite a few customers compared to the number of servers. Our server was friendly and clearly doing her best, but she was covering quite a few tables. As a result, the food took a little longer than expected, and a couple of my friends were somewhat uncomfortable with the wait. For me, though, it was still a good experience. Maybe the overall atmosphere felt a little boring compared to some other Mexican restaurants, but I enjoyed my meal and appreciated the effort from our server. My waitress Rebecca included this info in every one of her answers to questions about menu items, without fail and from memory. I was feeling salad-deprived and this one definitely appealed. The name "Summer Salad" gives nothing away but it was the description that got to me: watermelon, jicama, chayote, oranges, mint, feta cheese, currants, pepitas, cashews, mint-coconut-ginger vinaigrette. A fantastic riot of flavors, crunchy vegetables, perfectly and lightly dressed with the unique vinaigrette. Everything was at the peak of freshness, full of flavor. Radishes and jicama sweet and juicy, the mandarin orange segments obviously hand cut from a fruit, not dumped from a can. I wasn't familiar with chayote, sliced into shoestrings. It reminded me of unripe pear or maybe a firmer cucumber. A truly memorable salad; I don't say that often. As an authentic Mayan restaurant you won't find Tex-Mex here. The closest thing would be the Tacos De Lengua (that's beef tongue) Grass-fed and from a local farm of course. For a vegetarian maybe Mushroom Enchiladas would appeal: housemade corn tortillas, mushrooms, black beans, chihuahua cheese, tomato casera sauce, queso fresco, kale & frisée. I was more intrigued by the Mole Of The Day which as the name suggests, changes daily. Described as "locally sourced, sustainably raised meat, Veracruz chocolate mole, roasted broccoli." That day it was a ribeye from Berry Farms. I've only had mole with chicken before but I gave it a try. Glad I did. The steak, though thin, was seared a perfect medium-rare, almost fork-cut tender and juicy. It was served atop the mole and they didn't skimp. There was plenty of this thick, aromatic sauce hinting of so many flavors I couldn't quite identify. The chocolate was surprisingly subtle and didn't become obvious until later. A perfect balance of flavors, fairly mild yet just assertive enough to stand up to the steak. I ended up getting too many vegetables. I already mentioned the delicious salad. And the steak also came with roasted broccoli and carrots. They were perfectly cooked and would have been sufficient. But I forgot the steak came with the vegetable side so I also ordered a Summer Veggie Mix (broccoli, carrots, green beans, squash). Each vegetable trimmed and cooked to its own peak of perfection then the whole thing lightly dressed in a sweet glaze. Very good. I also forgot that I had asked about the lima beans which sounded interesting and Rebecca said that because it was my first time they were on the house. These arrived with my steak as well. So many vegetables! I took some home and about 1/3 of the steak. Listed on the menu simply as "Tok Sel Lima Beans" they were the highlight of the meal, vegetable-wise. I Googled it and only Mayan Cafe web pages came up. It's apparently their invention and they list the recipe! I'll have to try making it; so good. The ground, roasted pumpkin seeds, coarsely torn parsley leaves, green onions, and fresh lime completed this dish. Drinks menu included many intriguing specialty cocktails featuring smaller, eclectic brands of spirits. Many tequilas and whiskies. One of the offerings was "Black-Owned Bourbons," a flight of 4 from black-owned companies. Local beers only. As for sodas, you won't find Coke or Pepsi on this menu, just some small craft brands I haven't heard of. Kudos! I tried the Blackberry Smoke: "Mal Bien zacate limòn mezcal, Narano bitter orange liqueur, epazote syrup, blackberry." Wonderful smokiness from the mezcal, cool and refreshing with crushed ice, a riotous crimson-fuchsia color from the crushed, partially pureed blackberries. Alcohol strength seemed about right for this kind of drink. For dessert I had Dark Chocolate Torte: cayenne, pecan & cashew crust, fresh fruit. The torte was chocolatey with an unexpected light texture almost like a mousse. The cayenne and cinnamon gave it a slight kick. The fruit sauce drizzled on top and on the plate was tangy and aromatic. The fruit was a generous bunch of blueberries, large like the New Jersey farmed kind but sweet and tangy like the wild Maine kind. Nothing, not even fruit on the torte, is an afterthought here. Other positives include the ambience and service. The outside covered space had widely spaced tables and comfortable chairs, individual table lamps, many plants and patio lights, attractive blue-lit bar, and fans (noisy but needed to manage the heat and the flies; not their fault). Vocal music in Spanish was quiet and chill. My waitress Rebecca knew the menu completely, and checked on me frequently. She even noticed as I was battling the flies and hurried over to finish boxing my leftovers ahead of schedule. Also the maître d came by as I was finishing up to inquire. I truthfully answered that it was one one of the best meals I've had in some time.

It was a group of elders who sang 1960's songs like Roy Orbison and Herman's Hermits. Sadly, they were also...not great. But there were tables full of white people of the same age group who went wild for it, so I guess thats on me. It reminded me of a celebration in a senior living facility but maybe this restaurant has tapped into a secret money making trick? White people rejoice! Anyway, we started off with the Chorizo Queso Fundido appetizer. It came bubbling on a cast iron plate but was so hot the cheese solidified to the pan and really all you could scoop up was the meat. Which is fine but not a cheese dip? My entree was the Chile Colorado (Grilled steak strips on hot salsa. Served with rice, beans and 3 tortillas.). Steak was tough and had a lot of gristle. Sauce was OK, but not spicy (although maybe it is for this area, idk) Honestly the beans and rice were the best part and when have you EVER said that about a dish from a Mexican restaurant? My friend got a steak burrito which he said was very lettuce heavy and not large at all. Service was OK for the amount of people inside and time of day. So we ordered from what we thought was an interesting menu compared to most taco spots. Sadly, the tacos received were child size, yet cost $7-$8. My shrimp taco had one shrimp on it, and the rest sauce. While my chicken taco that was supposed to have quirky ingredients was missing said ingredients and the chicken was raw. I immediately spit it up and threw it in the trash. While my stomach did hurt for two days, I'm still alive. So, it luckily didn't kill me but there is a serious disconnect in the kitchen. I attempted to contact the business to discuss the order issues but a manager never called back. Wouldn't have left this review if communication was followed through on. I work hard for my money and was expecting a loaded high-quality $8 taco worthy of the investment. Torchys, sadly, didn't deliver on that promise. From the muddled flavors, missing ingredients, raw chicken, and dollhouse sized tacos... Torchys won't get my hard earned money again.
