Even before this pandemic, when we were tired of making dinner, Chili's is the place we order take out from. The Shelton location is always pretty busy, but that's because the food has always been very good and it's always been ready when they said it would be. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Even though it takes us a little while to get there, we wouldn't think of going anyplace else to eat. Their steaks are excellent and the loaded mash potatoes, that we get to go with it, are great! They also make a great mango chicken. Don't forget to get dessert! They make the best lava cake I have ever had, and their cheesecake is as good as Junior's in New York. The portions are big. Confession: I've never been to a Chili's. Growing up in So. Cal, it's always been avoided just because there was always somewhere else you could get baby back ribs or real Mexican food for cheaper. With the lack of Mexican options in this area, Chili's just had to do for the night. For a weekday the place was surprisingly packed and parking was somewhat tricky. Taking the 'Call Ahead' option is a must. Unless you like waiting around to be seated at Chili's for a good 30 min.+ Aside from the fajitas, I found the food to be okay. Just okay. The baby back ribs didn't exactly fall off the rib like it's marketed. I liked the carne asada that came with the fajitas more than the baby back ribs because the meat was tender and tasty -- just like it is at home. I suppose, "I want my car ne car ne car ne car ne asada, Chili's carne asada!" isn't as catchy as, "I want my baby back baby back baby back baby back..." Service was okay. Our server was all kinds of nice, but the experience felt rushed. The shrimp part of my meal was supposed to come with sauce, but it didn't. The booth behind us had their order screwed up. This particular Chili's location doesn't perform well when busy. Speaking of booths -- they're wayyyy too small. I'm of a healthy average build, yet I found it uncomfortable to be sharing the booth with another person because it felt cramped. If you're bigger than average, stay away from the booths. read more

My husband & I went to Chili's in Shelton on 3/23/21 at 4:30. Service was terrible!! Hardly any people there also. The few people that were there got up and left. We were there for 2 hours!! Take out staff seemed overwhelmed and disorganized- many wore masks with nostrils exposed - is this protecting customers? I used to like Chili's but tonight was a disaster. Waited 45 minutes for table in a room with 8-9 free tables. Thought it was a distancing issue until 5 of the surrounding tables were filled within 10 minutes. Waited over a 45 minutes for the meal which was so bland. Ive had better burgers at drive thru chains. The waitress never came back with the refill and didn't check on us until we were done. They have ordering kiosks. I guess the objective is to eliminate tipping. If I order by computer and my food is delivered by a human, is he/she a waiter or a runner? My three friends and I decided to go to chilis for dinner and we had called ahead so that we would not have to wait for a bunch of time when we got there. When we arrived and told them that we had a reservation they told us we needed to wait for 5 mins which was no problem at all until 5 minutes reached 25 minutes and there were many people waiting along with us as well. When a group of 3 who had arrived after us got seated before us I decided to go up and let them know that I was getting notifications that my table was ready and they said "who are you again" and when I told them they said they could sit us down if we wanted. We got seated in a very crammed table near the bar which was not a big issue but when me and my friends were just laughing and having a good time our waitress asked for our Menus in a very rude way and when we were ready to go at the end it took at least 15 minutes for them to take the bill. The menu is a bit small. The food was ok and overall it was about a 2-3 star experience. read more

In all seriousness I have repeatedly had bad experiences with this Chili's online order pickup in the past, but I decided to give it another chance. I waited until the latest possible time to arrive for my order just to get there and be told that I have to choose something else. This was happening to many other customers too. I picked a new meal and was told I would only have to wait 10-15 minutes. I was told my meal would be comped and it wasn't. After 35 minutes I still didn't have my meal and was still standing inside along with every other customer waiting. Then an associate spilled a drink on me and nothing was done about that either. My food came out after that and I left very upset. I don't normally write bad reviews and I already mentioned this on the questionnaire they sent but I left Chili's tonight crying, with cold food, and missing a side order. Ok so usually not a big fan of this chain. But one day hubby and I find ourselves hungry and only this as an option late at night. Went in with great trepidation and we were in for quite a surprise. We had the new fried pickles.. Not too greasy but oh so tasty!! Fajitas and the chicken quesadilla were next and they were delicious. Horrible experience! Came here a few days ago. We were seated quickly at the first table and were told someone would be with us shortly. The restaurant was rather empty and the guy who seated us seemed annoyed to do his job. Another table was seated after us and quickly had their drink order taken. After twice being told by a manager(?) that waitstaff would take our order shortly we noticed 20 minutes had passed. The table seated after us had their drinks and was placing their food order before we had even spoken to anyone to order a drink. Seriously? How are going to make some people wait 20 minutes and serve the booth next to them quickly when we can see waitstaff just hanging around laughing. Don't waste your time coming here. I've been going to Chili's with my friend for years. My friend had a Chili's gift card and we were finally able to use it this Sunday. We got there about 3:15pm. We were told it would be a 30 minute wait. We wait more than 30mins it was actually 40 mins. In that time we saw several empty tables that were clean but not in use. We save at least 4 tables that were dirty and not being cleaned. There were several people leaving and tables sitting untouched. It was just the two of us and still tables were not cleaned we were not seated. Several parties of 3-4 came in and left because of the long wait of 30-45 mins. A party that was already there waiting an hour names were not even taken. A party of 10 had come while we were waiting and indicated that they had waited an hour and still there was no tables. Another 3 party family came and was told it would be a 30-45 min wait they left and another 3 party family came in and they were seated. The person at the front was not cleaning he maybe walked over to two tables on right of the restaurant with towel and cleaner. At one point he was seen near the bar drinking something. By the time we got seated my friend noticed that the table was clean but there was still food on the floor. We had the Southwestern Eggrolls as our appetizer, and in the sauce there was something like a piece of paper or something in it. This was taken care of but unacceptable. Our waitress was nice and she made an error with my food putting in fries instead of street corner but she corrected it and apologized. My friends street corner was hard to chew and she sent it back. Mine seemed okay at first. I had taken it home with me and to work that night and noticed what she did it was a little chewy. I probably should have asked for a new one too. Before we left my friend used the bathroom and told me how dirty it was and how she saw that the kitchen had stuff all over the floor. It seemed as if they were short staffed, but with the staff they did have they specifically the person greeting people could of done more. MY friend made a comment to me that she may not come back. Honestly, I don't blame her and I feel the same way I haven't had service like this here before and it was very disappointing to have such service. I haven't been to other Chili's except when I use UberEats so I don't know how they are in person, but I can say that with the several years of going to this one and their service since the last time I dined in until now things have changed dramatically and they need to improve for the better. I have been to this place many times in the past so I decided to get food to go on Cinco de Mayo. What a mistake ordered the food at 3:30 PM for a 530 pick up I arrived there at 5:15 a server came out at 5:35 and got my name and noted the parking spot that I was in then said as soon as the order is ready I'll bring it out to you and you can pay for it. At 5:55 she came back out to my car and asked me for my name again and I told her that she's already been here and that I gave her my name. At 6:30 PM I called the restaurant and confirmed my order which they had and they had told me that they've been busy and the order is being put together now. I received my order at 6:55 PM I got home at 7:08 pm. Ok it was during the pandemic and it was curbside only I understand they were busy but an hour and a half wait tells me they were not implementing a corporate structure standards for this situation. I come here all the time for years now with my family. I won't go to any other chili's in less its the one in shelton because of the customer service here. Today I called in 30 mins ahead of time because I had a table of 9 people. When I got there it was incredibly packed like usual we waited for 20-30 mins after I arrived and they had our table ready. Our waiter John was attentive and made sure we had everything we needed considering it was a busy day and we were a party of 9. He helped make the transition between meals smooth. We went this past Father's Day. The hostess moved so slowly to seat us (even though there were vacant tables) it seemed time was moving backward. One big issue with me and it has occurred nearly every time we are there; the staff is very slow to clean up tables vacated by customers. On a previous visit I ordered the salmon (which I had ordered before and loved) and it wasn't seasoned properly. The manager came to talk to me about it and since I didn't eat it kindly removed from my check. Beer and drinks are worth it but when it comes to wine by the glass.... Not a good buy. read more

Every time I try to place an order to go over the phone I'm asked to press 2 for to go orders once the phone is answered and I ask to place an order to go I'm told I have to be transferred then I'm put on hold for upwards of 25 minutes. I don't understand why it is so hard for them to answer the phone and take my order in the time I spent on hold my order could have already been completed! My BF and I went to the Shelton,CT location for the first time tonight. We got there at 4:30. Our server was very prompt with taking our orders. Our drinks came within 2 minutes. Our Appetizer came within 5 minutes and our meal came in less than 10 minutes! All of the food was VERY fresh and hot. Our server and other staff were very friendly, helpful and professional. The food was DELICIOUS and the portions were huge! Prices were very reasonable and the facility was clean and respectful. We were in and out in about an hour. Waitress had a cut on her hand with blood running down her fingers. When we pointed it out, she replied "yup". Woman's bathroom had vomit on the floor at 2 o'clock in the afternoon. We told the staff and gave them ample time to clean it but 30 minutes later, there was still vomit in the floor. This location is getting a one star for service, no idea how the food is because they wouldn't take an over the phone order. After calling to place our to go order the woman on the phone said we couldn't because it was after phone to go order time. Which would not be a big deal, but we asked to speak with the manager since we were staying right across the street in the same exact parking lot. The woman we spoke to was extremely rude and unknowledgeable about customer service. We asked for her name and instead of giving us her name, she hung up. Again, wouldn't have been a big deal, but is it really that hard to forward a customer over to the manager? Especially when they are want to spend money. After my past experience of waiting an hour and 40 minutes for chili's to-go at Shelton a few months ago (not even joking), I thought I would try one more time with Chili's to go. Huge mistake. I showed up at the exact time I was supposed to according to my online order. I waited over an hour than the estimated completion time. Stood for 40 minutes straight at the to-go counter. Was then told multiple times halfway through that my "order was being packaged up". I didn't know it took 25 minutes to package someones food??? I thought that's how long my original eta was! During the 40 minutes I was standing there, I could see how slow to-go orders were being put together. It was primarily one person (a few others occasionally helped, but mostly them) that was putting them together, and one order was being completed every 6-8 minutes. They were going so slow it took everything in me not to go back there and package the orders myself! The whole time, the phone being ignored as it was ringing off the hook, and online orders printing out of the receipt printer. You need twice as many staff during busy times, and ones that can keep up with the demand. Several other customers were waiting the same amount of time as me. For example, one customer's food was sitting at the counter for over 30 minutes to the point where that customer came in stating they had called over 20 minutes ago that they arrived at curbside and there food was just sitting there. AND they had three items missing! The most important part of all, don't have your online app tell someone to show up 20 minutes after ordering if it's going to take over 1 hour and 20 minutes to prepare their food. At least give me an accurate time then lying to me about my order progress the whole time I'm standing there, when I'm facing the counter where you're packaging the to-go orders. I saw when my order was actually packaged and labeled and it was minutes before it was handed to me, not the 25 minutes ago when they told me.
