You know those Hibachi grills that serve excellent Japanese grilled food off those super hot grilled services? Reverse the super hot to super cold and then you have CHILL-Bachi. Chillbachi sponsored one of the yelp elite events and I was very impressed. I don't eat ice cream nearly as much as I use to but when charcoal flavored ice cream with toppings from waffles, Oreos, sliced almonds, coconut flakes, etc... you already know I'm in there. The two people making the ice cream were extremely friendly and smiled a lot which was great. Had a nice conversation with the lady making my charcoal ice cream and she blessed it with her happiness. Had some extra fever up credits to use so we thought this might be fun. It was a great experience plus the ice cream tasted great. I got stuffed. It was just us and another couple. The instructor shows you how it's done and then everyone gets a chance to try on the 2 ice grills. Ladies must have your hair pulled back. I have super long hair but nicely enough the owner has some clean hair ties. I honestly found making the ice cream rolls kinda difficult. Maybe it was because I chose a peep as my first mix in and it was hard to get small pieces to smooth out so I had my boyfriend make the creations I wanted. You chop your rolls so everyone can taste it. The staff member also make us a couple rolls to try. My favorite flavor of ice creams were horchata, ube, earl grey, and mango (mix with chamoy!) all in all it was a great experience and since there were only 4 of us it was a true all you can eat experience read more

I went a few days ago with my friend as an Airbnb experience. It was very enjoyable because Jacob was humorous and softened up everyone, but in the beginning everyone was being a tough crowd. He provides a lot of guidance on how to get started and during your rolling ice cream experience too. I originally thought the price was high, but it was worth it in the end. Considering we got a workout by making the ice cream and we ate endless ice cream too. The rolling ice cream seems easy until you try it. This was sort of a spur-of-the-moment Groupon purchase with a friend (visiting from out of town), and I didn't go in with tremendous expectations. But I enjoyed the class quite a bit. Thanks to Jasmine for being a great instructor/host. You go in with a small group of people -- I think there were 7 or 8 in my class. The instructor talks about the rolled ice concept and performs a quick demonstration. Then everyone in the class goes up (two at a time) to the grills to invent their own ice cream concoction. There are tons of different flavors and textures to choose from, including some exotic ones, and even some items that are just there for visual flourishes (like the charcoal coloring). It takes a bit to get used to rolling the ice cream itself; it's a little more physical than I thought it was going to be. But it's certainly something that anyone can grasp. This is pretty much a perfect date-type experience. You're (probably) trying something that neither of you has done before, it's fun, it's low-pressure, it encourages conversation, and you get to eat ice cream at the end. But it also works nicely as a family event. There was one child in our group, and she was having the time of her life. Quick tips -- bananas and peanut butter are super strong flavors, and run the risk of overpowering anything else you try to mix in. The best unexpected flavor combination in our group was amaretto and nutella. read more

Fantastic experience. The host/owner Jacob was very funny and entertaining. The area is sketchy, but once you get inside Chillbachi the vibes are great. The different Ice cream creations from our lovely group were all delicious. Then again, I don't think you can make a bad tasting rolled ice cream. :) There's sooo many toppings and add-ins for your ice cream and you get to go more than once! I'm so glad I came across this on Groupon. Tips: Arrive early to find street parking. The meters take coins or card. $2 for 4 hours on the meter (PLENTY of extra time left over). The location's entrance has a huge 1040 painted on the wall, enter through the door and you'll see a few shops lined up. Chillbachi will be on your left. I would definitely recommend this experience to anyone, whether you are a local or tourist! I'm not sure if they allow children, but this is a fun experience for all ages. P.S. of course I am not encouraging this, but he does allow late people to enter. So dont be too stressed if youre running a little behind due to traffic or parking. read more

I really enjoyed this class! The guy who taught it, who I believe was the owner, was super funny and made the class enjoyable. He cracked jokes throughout the class and made it a nice environment. I wasn't too sure how this rolling would go, but it was pretty easy and kind of satisfying to watch all of it scrape off and roll! Not only that, but it was extremely yummy! I am giving it 4 stars for 2 reasons. One being that parking sucks - i mean it's downtown LA and two: it was a little hard to find the class! read more

A group of us (homeschooler moms and kids) got to play at Chillbachi a couple of weeks ago and had a blast. It was a great experience to share ice cream flavors that each participant custom-created and hand-rolled. What a fun and engaging way to complete our afternoon after a visit to the Broad and lunch at Grand Central Market. I highly recommend this! Great for a birthday party or just for fun, like we did. And because the ice cream is rolled and sliced, I can certainly see this kind of ice cream (made for us by the pros, Jasmine and Jacob) at a wedding as dessert hor d'oeurves. Found Chillbachi through AirBnB experiences and came with two friends and my boyfriend. We arrived at 7:56 and the start time was at 8 but by the time we got in, she had already done a demo and went over the instructions. The instructor was very nice and friendly though. We assumed everyone got their own pan but everyone has to take turns using the two there, but that wasn't a problem. As time went on, we noticed that the instructor had extremely poor sanitary habits. At one point, my boyfriend's ice cream was hanging over his cup and dripping. The instructor LITERALLY PUSHED HIS ICE CREAM INTO THE CUP WITH HER UNGLOVED HAND. She was also cleaning the counter around the cold pan without gloves while people were rolling their ice cream. Then she also got strawberries from the outside class and brought them in IN HER UNGLOVED HANDS. I also saw her go into her sleeve and scratch her armpit and she also licked cream off her fingers. We were SHOOK. We literally never saw her wear gloves. I would also recommend more variety in the toppings. It's basically just different kinds of Oreos. This would have been a 5 Star review if it weren't for the instructor. Go at your own risk. It was a fun experience but that was really next level gross. read more

I purchased this on Groupon for my family of 6 that included kids as young as 10 yrs. We really had a great time rolling ice cream and it tasted great, you can get pretty creative with all the toppings and syrup. We didn't get a demonstration prior to our turn but the Jasmin (the instructor)did an excellent job at guiding us. The only negative thing I can say is this location is hard to find if you are going to go they are in an alley accessed by a door on Los Angeles street between 11th and Olympic. read more
