We always love beating a crowd on Sunday mornings by heading to breakfast at Chiloso. It's really cool to be able to pick your own breakfast tacos or order any of their hot meals. A fast casual taco and burrito place. Maybe it was maybe my fault, but I had too much stuff on my tacos. It was like a little unwrapped burrito on which I couldn't really taste the meat. I did pull out a sample and it was meh. Service was friendly but the guy on the line was not super communicative and pretty quiet and we had a couple iterations of "what did you say?" going on. The ambiance is nice and the staff were friendly enough, and the air temperature was good. That's where the good ends... Seriously. The food. It completely sucks and is so much more expensive than similar places like Chipotle, Torchy's, and taquerias. The menu said "tacos" for $5.50, so I was thinking, "oh good, at least I can get two small tacos for a decent price." Nope. It's for one. And all the meat looks and tastes like it was premade and heated back up to sit in the warming trays for hours. The fajita chicken tastes like it was boiled. I didn't dare try the other stuff I would've tried at a taqueria, because it just didn't look good. The fajita vegetables taste like biting into smoke with no other flavors. The only thing I liked were the pickled red onions, because duh. I had breakfast tacos here on a previous visit, because someone recommended them. Apparently that person has never had a good breakfast taco. They were terrible. Some of the worst I've ever had, and I've had some bad breakfast tacos. I have given them a chance four times over 15 years, but I am done now, unless something drastic changes. I truly don't understand why people keep going here and raving about this place. Today was my first - and will be my only - time to eat here. The online ordering system is not user friendly and for any restaurant post-Covid to not have a usable online system is ridiculous. The menu has "seafood tacos" listed and shows a photo of 3 tacos. At no point does it say you are ordering ONE taco, which makes it ver misleading. The tacos only come with one slaw option - habanero - so if you don't want your mouth blown off, you have to get it with no slaw. That means you have avocado and your seafood of choice (in my case, shrimp), and nothing else. For almost $7. Luckily the one taco came with a side of rice so I was able to dump the shrimp - all 4 small pieces of them - and the avocado onto the rice and add my sauce so I would have some sort of meal. Unfortunately, the rice was horrible - gummy in some places and clumped together in other places. No cilantro flavor at all. The tortilla that was the taco part was so thick, gummy, and oily it was inedible. I have had Taco Bell that was a better value than this place. Never again. read more

First time at Chiloso's Tuesday night. Had a huge and clean eating area with bright big windows. Staff was friendly and explained our choices. Loved that I could choose a lot of things to put in my bowl, and had choices for salsa and dips for the fresh tortilla chips that came in a bag with your meal. Came here for lunch with a coworker and the experience we had was very good. Upon entering, we were directed to the front counter to build whatever meal we wanted. The options included nachos, tacos, salads, etc. The workers were fast and efficient. I ordered the Nachos and loaded it up with my favorite toppings. Whenever I asked if extra, it was given. Now although they do not have a drive through they are FAST plus these breakfast tacos are STUFFED to the MAX so I suggest taking a seat inside & eating them. Honestly, one of the worst meals I've ever had. Ever. Didn't take more than one bite. There were a ton of burnt pieces in my food. And when I say burnt pieces, I don't mean an over cooked onion. I mean burnt pieces that only come from the bottom of a skillet that hasn't been properly cleaned in months. I picked them out and the whole dish still tasted like an ashtray. Also, found a huge piece of onion skin and some beef (I don't eat beef) in my bowl. Also, ordered a half pint of salsa and a bowl of queso and received one of the small bags of chips that comes with one entree for the entire order (it was delivery). If I could give zero stars I would. Chiloso as a company is great, but this location is absolutely horrible. I eat their breakfast religiously every morning and this morning I came into the location at rockwall and payed way more money for what they considered as "extras" for breakfast. At every location I've been to within the metroplex they allow me to get bacon, sausage, and potatoes without having to pay for extra. They are also supposed to use the spoons as a portion reference and that didn't happen. I basically paid way more money for a burrito that was the size of a taco. The manager did not care to help resolve the issue either, instead I was charged and told I was wrong. Customer service is trash. Go to Royse city. I refrained from reviewing because who truly cares about a fast casual quickie with mediocre food and a predisposition to attract pseudo-granola rock climbing advocates, but here I am. First, I want to share that I was greeted by the Cobra Tate of Rockwall. I didn't stop to ask him his opinion on imperialistic wrongs or women's rights, but the look is uncanny. He threw our food and rolled his eyes far too many times to be okay, and with that knowledge I want to say: Cobra Tate of Rockwall, if you need help let someone know, brother. "At Chiloso, we're not just food, we're family." Does family refuse to wash their hands after using the restroom? Honestly Chiloso is always a hit. It is perfect for a quick meal to grab out. I always get their grilled avocados, they are absolutely the best. There is a layer of queso under the avocados, and the avocados are huge and delicious. You get to choose your choice of meat to fill your avocados with, I love the grilled chicken, and it comes with rice and beans. It is so filling and so delicious. One of my favorite places to go when I visit family in Rockwall! Yes, the line is always long and yes the staff moves slow and yes it is impossible to hear them when you're ordering....but the food is WORTH IT. Everything is so fresh and authentic. My favorite things are actually not the traditional tacos and burrito bowls but 1) the chicken tortilla soup and 2) THE GRILLED AVOCADOS. To give some perspective: My husband and his family love this place. They go almost every day. I myself am not a Tex Mex or breakfast fan. I can see the charm. Heaping amounts of food for breakfast and for lunch and dinner, it is a really solid option. My gripe about this place is that once the breakfast line hits (around 9, it's quite a wait). Their online ordering system is atrocious (just call in your order). The app might be better, but after doing the online ordering...I just couldn't bring myself to download the app. And it seems like every 6 months I come back, their prices are ever so slightly higher. Where it's really good. -Their breakfast tacos or bowls. Seriously, I've never seen such a large amount of food go into a taco. You can definitely control it. -Their white sauce (a.k.a jalapeno ranch). Their chips are actually pretty solid on its own, but to me they're just a vehicle to get to my ranch. -Shrimp options are actually quite solid. -Barbacoa is really good if you don't want pork on your taco like me. Though I've heard from my family that the chorizo and sausage is good as well. -The potatoes are so solid. -Queso is not an additional cost. -Free drinks (including coffee) with your breakfast order Where they're like Chipotle and it drives me crazy. -The breakfast line -Extra for guac, barbacoa, and brisket...a lot extra (but they give you a lot...so maybe that makes up for it). Extra Tips/Thoughts: -It's freezing in there. Bring a jacket. -They recently added brisket. I wasn't a fan since I don't like dry or fatty meats...my lean meat should have some moisture. 4 October, 2024. My wife and daughters have been going to Chiloso's in Rockwall since they opened up 10+ years ago. The food has always been good. But with the recent change in menu the pricing was totally confusing. The menu says BUILD YOUR OWN: $12.90 for a bowl. We ordered two bowls with Steak. Price came out to $15.50 per bowl, before tax. I was told the Bowl price of $12.90 is for Chicken only.... but under the Bowl pricing, it did not say "only for chicken" or anything of the sort. Nor did it say "steak price is more" or anything like that under the bowl pricing. You had to look way down the menu to see in small print that steak was an additional $2.50. I don't mind paying a fair price, but I have an issue with misleading pricing, intentional or otherwise. In all fairness, it was almost certainly not intentional, but it was misleading. The employee at the register could not explain the price, he had to get the manager. She could only say, "the price is $15.50 for steak". At that point, I stuck to my principals... "it says $12.90 for a bowl right there, not $15.50". The manager would not budge, and neither would I. I left without paying and without the food. Please just make the menu clear..... read more

First, I have never been here so, naturally, since I was just picking up food, I entered through the "take-out" door. STUPID me, what was I thinking?!?! The food is excellent, and we love the spicy ranch sauce! The price is great; very good value. The only problem is getting the food; two choices - (a)Stand in a really long line, and WAIT...or (b) order online and they will mess up your order. We normally stand in the frustratingly long line, but today we ordered 'to-go.' Unfortunately, they gave us someone else's food - and we didn't discover it until after returning home. When my wife took the incorrect order back, the cashier simply tried to hand her the old (now cold) order with our name on it. No apology. Wow. Maybe there was a language/cultural barrier, since the cashier barely spoke English - but this is not good C/S. If you enjoy standing in a hot humid line for an hour, this place is perfect. When your mom picks you up from 6-Flags, ask her to drive you to Chiloso. The rest of us should wait for the prices to increase by 15-20%, to thin out the herd of cattle in line for cheap breakfast tacos (w free drinks and chips). read more
