Let's see, It's been like 8-10 yrs since I've visited this location. Let's just say I feel like I totally wasted $15 just now. I ordered mixed veggies, and eggroll and chicken wings. Chicken wings had feathers on them still. I quit eating after noticing like 2nd bite in. Mixed veggies lacked VEGGIES. Like wtf? Lots of onions and a little broccoli/zucchini. 15 bucks. Service was close to what I would consider rude The woman behind register hurried me and seemed annoyed when I asked a few simple questions. I'm good. Not going back. Cant give them any stars. I ordered shrimp fried rice to go. When i opened the container there were two small shrimp. I remembered seeing a young man behind the counter on his haunches eating shrimp from a bowl.......never again, the rice was lousy read more

The food is good but watch how much they charge. This is the second and last time I've been overcharged. Ask your total first! Before giving your card. My total was suppose to be around $19 but when I got home was charged $24.44. This will not happen again! Prices in the menu never match up with what they put on your card. Taxes aren't even that much. Again y'all word of warning ask for your total at this place. If they are doing this to a lot of people extra $2 & $3 then you already know. Not very many stars here...not too sure why, I've never had a bad experience with any carry out items. I've been coming here on & off for several years and have always had pretty decent food. This being said, I almost always only get hot & sour soup without chicken OR plain lo mein w/ water chestnuts. Kind of hard to mess that up. I have never dined in. This was our second time ordering from Chin Chin and we had great experiences both times. The food is delicious - the chicken dumplings were hand-made, the egg rolls (while very greasy) were amazing, and my dish included a lot of fresh veggies (broccoli, zucchini, onion, carrots, etc.) which gave a lot of crunch rather than frozen or canned veggies that usually feel a little mushier, and nothing was overly salted. I've ordered a number of times before with no real issues; pretty standard quick Chinese fare typical of these smaller places. Good combination dinner prices suited to those who don't want a larger plate. BUT tonite was different. I ordered one of the "House Specials" : Orange Beef. Now I've had this before from other Chinese restaurants in and around Charlotte, so I thought I knew what to expect. I didn't expect what I received ... basically a breaded/coated things over a mix that appeared to be some kind of stuffing. NO beef visible. So battered and deep fried stuffing balls in a spicy orange sauce. Needless to say after just a few bites I ended up throwing it all away. Extremely disappointed is how badly this misrepresented the dish. From other places it was always slices of flank or hanger steak ( like used in fajitas) or even thin sirloin, usually not coated, but could have a thin batter coating, in a spicy orange sauce. I called to order my food 20 minutes prior. I get there 20 minutes after I ordered my food. The cashier/cook/whoever scooped rice in a cup & threw it in a to-go container. Then did something in the kitchen & and scraped the broccoli & shrimp in the container. I could see from the front desk that it was dry. I asked for more sauce & told her I will pay for it. She said "no, you should've said that on the phone". The other guy tried to make me more sauce, she starts yelling at him and shaking her head "no"... I'm going to stop here, but moral of the story, the lady was rude asf & I left with no food. read more

The food is pretty good in flavor but it's not the cleanest in there. My first visit I was pretty satisfied a little on the greasy side but it's Chinese food what else would I expect. But today I was completely disgusted. I went with the Wanton soup because it's so cold and dreary out. Got home and about 5 bites in I notice HAIR in my soup... 2 strands of black hair and a little ball of what looked like lint, fuzz, and hair. DISGUSTING!!!!!!!!! Needless to say the rest of the soup went in the trash. I won't be returning to Chin Chin. And my advice to anyone that does go there is to examine your food first. read more

If you're from the south, this place is 5-star Chinese. It's cheap, it's good, there's plenty of it, they're almost always open, and everyone is friendly. I love this place. I'm from Chicago. I've lived in the south for more than 20 years now, though, and northern Chinese food is different. Cantonese. If that's what you're looking for, this is close as you're going to get. Still no chop suey, and the egg rolls are meh, but otherwise, as far as inexpensive Chinese goes. It's great! read more

I love Chinese food, but I don't love New Chin Chin. We ordered the Pu Pu Platter (essentially an appetizer sampler), Kung Pao Shrimp, and Chicken Mei Fun. Here's a run down of what we got: Egg rolls: They were greasy and bland. Couldn't taste a lot over the amount of grease - seems like the oil needs to be hotter to fry correctly - the shells just absorbed tons of oil. Shrimp toast: It was ok. The bread was burnt, but the shrimp topping was pretty good. Not much of it, though. Ribs & Chicken Skewers: VERY bland. The ribs were pretty chewy, too. No sauce to speak of, very dry and plain. Fried shrimp: Ew. Just not good, the breading tasted like plain bread crumbs. No seasoning and no flavor. Kung Pao Shrimp: Supposed to be hot and spicy, more like bland and flavorless. The shrimp were overcooked, and the sauce had no flavor. They also left out my rice (which they steamed in the microwave when I got there), but I didn't mind. Chicken Mei Fun: The only thing I need to say is that I don't think it was chicken. In short: I wouldn't go here again. read more

Passable. Egg roll was extremely greasy. Supposedly you have a choice of egg or spring roll but wasn't offered. Cashew chicken was light on both, but plenty of veggies and fried rice for the money. One of my favorite Chinese take-out. It's a mom and pop shop. Not the cleanest but their food is what brings us back. My usual is their hot and sour soup, egg drop or their General Tso chicken. What I love about their General Tso chicken is the fact that the chicken is chopped to bite size. Their egg rolls is on the greasy side. Their lunch menu is a great deal as well as their offers depending on how much you spend. (Although, these deals are offered if you pay in cash.) We usually order from them for party platters. Their prices are better than others. I cannot recall when we started coming here but it's been years and they manage to remember us even if we haven't stopped by in months. Restrooms are co, so don't expect it to be the cleanest bathroom you've ever used. read more

I've been here a few times. The food is usually good. But not today. I ordered two fried chicken wings with rice one with shrimp. Crab ragoons and tea. The fried wings weren't fresh and the shrimp didn't taste done. I also watched the cook/cashier finish eating here meal prior to taking my order. Leave their table, go to the cash register, ring my order and immediately start cooking. She didn't wash her hands then she wiped her nose with her back hand. They don't use gloves but she still didn't wash her hands. I gave her two starts because after I actually attempted to eat the food it wasn't right so I returned it and she refunded me for my order since I didn't eat it. read more

Best oriental takeout spot in Matthews! Owned by the nicest family and the inside is decorated with adorable art made by their kids. The food is great and affordable. I'm vegetarian and also don't eat dairy and they still have plenty menu items that I can choose from. read more
