4 Piece Fried Chicken Wings with French Fries

I was looking for a Chinese spot that'd be open past 9 PM on a Sunday and that lead me to China 1. My food was nice and hot and the wings were extra crispy. I ordered pickup and food was done within 10 minutes. The man who took my order was friendly.

Wanted breakfast but all the restaurants and diners had over an hour wait -Chinese food, yup sounds great. China 1 had an extensive menu and combo plates. They specialize in Huan and Szechuan dishes. The Kung Po Chicken was plentiful and delicious, could have used more chile, the combination comes with rice for $7.95. Their lunch specials are $5.25 and they have over 20 plates from chow mein or lo mein, beef or chicken broccoli, kung po chicken, shrimp with lobster sauce, cashew chicken, sesame chicken, General Tao's chicken and much more. Sesame chicken is plentiful, we also had the egg rolls. Everything was delicious

This was my first time here and I ordered takeout. Beef with mixed vegetables and white rice. They were very prompt and had my order together in less than 10 minutes. They eagerly accommodated my request for no mushrooms. Their location was easy to get to, and my food tasted delicious! The beef was not fatty like I have sometimes experienced at Asian places. They were priced pretty reasonably too. (Be sure to grab condiments and ask for chopsticks though- my order was bagged and didn't have anything but food in it.) I will definitely be back! Seems like a great go-to for takeout.

Review from Wife 5yrs ago Wow! We really loved this place! The family that owned it were the best. I don't know if it changed recently or how long ago the ownership has changed, but the food has definitely changed. The quality is not the same. I moved from Chesapeake to Virginia Beach some years back so I didn't get there as often as I would when I lived in Chesapeake. However, I would take trips just to go get the egg foo young because they had the best around I've given this new ownership I guess three chances but it does not taste the same as it was when the previous owners were there. Each time I've been there I'm looking for the old owners so that I could say hi. We even remember when they had their last child and when our 1st daughter was born the wife used to always ask, was she part Chinese or did she have a Chinese mix in her. She even gave my daughter a dress from China because she thought she was part Chinese. Our daughter is now going on 16yrs old, so that is how long we've been eating there. It was so disappointing getting one of my usuals, fried chicken wings and rice with the egg foo young gravy and it tasted horrible to say the least. So I will not be patronizing them anymore unless the old ownership comes back. Please let me know if any other old-time customers have noticed a change. The quality is just not the same.

First time ordering from here. With all the positive reviews I was pretty hopeful. We ordered the sweet-and-sour chicken which wasn't too bad.. a lot of really tiny pieces but the taste was OK. The eggrolls tasted a little off. Tried the teriyaki chicken. Not all of it was cooked through. We got the Pu pu platter. I loved the shrimp that came with it. Was so good! It was my first time trying shrimp toast... I was so excited!! Unfortunately, as you can see by the pictures I could not eat it because it was completely raw!! So I had to toss that and the teriyaki chicken. My husband really loved the ribs that came with the platter. The bourbon chicken was OK. I think it looks better than it tasted. The chicken was really dry it wasn't moist. My husband said the fried rice was good. Overall, I wasn't super pleased but willing to give it one more try. Maybe they were just having a off day. They were really busy when we went.

Hands down the best Chinese place in Hampton Roads. Clean, fresh food cooked perfectly. The customer service is amazing. The only thing is they need to upgrade the soda fountain. I will be returning

For fast food Chinese, this place gets 4 big stars. I stopped by to paint pottery across the lot, and the line at the brunch place was too long. This place had just opened for the day and I found a great table to eat at and watch TV. They have a nice, big fish tank, if you want to watch that instead. I found the food quality was excellent and it arrived fast. Nothing was oily or greasy. The restaurant was mostly clean, the soda fountain had a syrup drip of snot coming off the Dr. Pepper though. Staff was efficient but not overly friendly, I'm OK with that. I'll be back for the solid food offerings.

The sitting down restaurant part of this establishment is very clean with a very calm and nice atmosphere. The staff is very kind and efficient. The food though, the food is immaculate. My favorite thing is the Crab Rangoon's. I love Rangoon's and have had them countless times in countless restaurants, but China 1's is the best I've ever had. Fast amazing food, kind efficient staff, and clean peaceful environment. Best chinese restaurant in Chesapeake

    5. Shrimp Toast. Nothing but fried extremely oily pieces of bread.

Went here for a family lunch out and we seriously drove 45 minutes just to eat here.. it's just that delicious. I will admit that we actually pass their other location just to go to this one. I have been to the VB location a few years ago and didn't like anything I had ordered. I was hoping this time would be different. The salt and pepper shrimp and such was delicious. As was the cucumber salad and everything. But the actual noodles itself? Overpowering with star anise and Szechuan peppers-- so much so I tasted nothing else and breathing foul odors for the next few days I swear. The potato noodles were hard to chew and easily could become a choking hazard. The service was fast and friendly despite the busy dinner hours. The restaurant had plenty of seats inside and the orders became available fast. Very little to no wait without feeling rushed. Like my dining companion said, everything but the noodles are good here. I should have heeded the warning. Parking is free and most major cards accepted. Unless a friend insists on going, this is not a must visit spot for me. I certainly wouldn't recommend it to friends and family but hey. To each their own.

Absolutely unacceptable! I have photographs of the filter, the food, and my receipt. The filter was found in the meal, and I am not interested in speculation about whether this could have happened--it did happen, and I have evidence documenting it. What has been equally concerning is the response I received when I reported the incident. Rather than acknowledging my concern, I was told that it "could not have happened." I was told that the business has operated for 15 years and that something like this does not happen. While I appreciate the reputation the establishment has built over the years, I found that response disappointing and dismissive. A history of good service does not change the fact that I found a used cigarette filter in my food. I have actually been a customer of the business for years, which is one reason this experience is so upsetting. I expected my concern to be taken seriously and investigated rather than immediately dismissed based on the assumption that it could not have occurred. My goal is not to argue about whether the incident occurred--it did. As a customer (now former), I believed my concerns deserved a thoughtful and professional response.

Came here with a friend of mine who absolutely loves hot pot. I had actually never had it before,…read moreso I had zero idea what I was in for. But honestly, it turned out to be such a fun and tasty experience! For anyone who hasn't tried it: hot pot is basically a big simmering pot of soup right at your table where you cook all your own food. You pick all your ingredients from soup, veggies, meats, noodles, mushrooms, whatever you want and drop them into the hot broth to cook. It's super customizable and kind of like a mix between soup and DIY cooking right at the table, which is actually a blast once you get the hang of it. We both went with a hot, spicy soup base which was perfect for warming up on a cold day. I threw in broccoli, mushrooms, ribeye, and noodles. The best part is watching everything cook right in front of you and then pulling it out when it's just right. The broth soaks up all those flavors and gets even richer as you go. The flavors were amazing! Really bold and satisfying. The spicy broth was exactly what I needed, and everything we added came out perfectly cooked and delicious. It was warm and cozy, which made the whole thing even better since it felt like the ultimate cold weather meal. I look forward to retuning and trying something completely different!
