I do prefer white meat and this was one of those entrees that seemed to be made of mainly thigh meat. Service: excellent. I am honestly surprised that the place was not more busy than it was given its location.

That being said, I liked the little foil cups they were served in, especially when they didn't have large soup spoons. The noodles were really well cooked, and I loved the pork belly, but the portion was underwhelming. The cucumber was definitely the highlight for me though. It had a great flavor profile, and I loved the spice level. 10/10 would recommend for the cucumbers. As much as I appreciated the goal here, I likely wouldn't go back. There are a lot of spots in optimist hall, and I'm inclined to believe I'd be happier with something else.

I wanted Singapore noodles and a bunch of random soups and apps. I got all of that via delivery (so props to the apps) but my food was SCORCHING hot, fresh, and delicious. Everything was packed neatly and I was given plenty of extra sauces, fortune cookies, utensils, and the like. I've begun to realize I will forever be let down if I keep comparing everything I try to what I was used to back home. And being so focused on the comparison, I forget that sometimes these places are BOMB in their own right.

This is a ubiquitous Indian dish, and of course okra is common throughout the tropics globally, but I'd never seen this offered at a Chinese restaurant before. And the rapid cooking technique typical of the cuisine produced a delightfully crisp vegetable, which went great with a black bean sauce and some very hot dried chilis. On the other hand, their interpretation of ma po tofu had some fermented broad beans but minimal vegetables (sometimes you get mushrooms or peas or at least some leeks or something) and no numbing sensation.
