This restaurant is by Chinatown, not far from Capital One Arena. Jose Andres has several restaurants in the District. We wanted to see how "round one" would taste before ordering other items. After serving our dish & pouring water, we didn't see the server until we were finished. He didn't ask how we were doing or if we needed anything. The atmosphere is pleasant and upbeat. There is a weekday and weekend menu. Brunch is popular on the weekend. The menu is a bit pricey. We had a nice table near the window. If you want more privacy, sit at either end of the restaurant. It gets busy and crowded in the middle. Hubby ordered an amazing pasta dish. It was flavorful and nicely plated. My quinoa was wonderful. I enjoy using lettuce to wrap items. If our server had stopped by, I would have asked for more lettuce. The desert was wonderful. The texture, flavors and plating were great. It is obvious that each dish is carefully checked before leaving the kitchen. The manager eventually stopped by. When he learned we had been ignored, he offered desert. We thought he was offering coffee as part of the apology. He was not. Our server started taking interest in us after desert, when the manager had spoken to him and we didn't need him anymore. If you don't mind spending money on a creative meal, you will find yummy dishes here. We stopped by a fast food restaurant on the way home since we didn't have that much at the restaurant.

Fun little concept of Chinese and Peruvian fusion food as the name suggests. I was eating by myself so I tried passionate fruit juice and the lomo saltado, unfortunately not the Chinese fusion food. The drink and food I'd say is pretty standard. The Lomo Saltado dish, however, I'd say that it's just a bit too salty, and the beef steak is slightly overdone, but only slightly. So I'd still give it a 4/5. Overall, I thought it's a beautiful space and nice dining experience and I'd still recommend it to others, just not on the top of my list.

I came on Tuesday which I realized is Dim Sum Tuesday where they have discounted items from their dim sum menu! I'll have to try that next time, but this time I got the Ceviche Nikkei, Lucky 12 (4pcs of 3 different types of siu mai), and the Aji de Gallina. My favorite was the ceviche nikkei; it was so refreshing and the tuna was the perfect texture! Out of the three types of siu mai, the siu mai tradicional was my favorite. The pollo siu mai has like a salsa in it that was very unique but not my favorite. The Aji de Gallina was very hearty and comforting. The chicken pieces themselves were fine but the stew was so delicious. The real star of the show was the dessert: ponderaciones de kiwicha! The banana ice cream it comes with was phenomenal, it pairs so well with the cocoa powder! I would come back just for dessert! The ambiance is really nice! Decor is super cute, the light fixtures are really cool! Service was great!

Overall experience was great! I recommend getting a reservation if you're eating here between 6-8pm. Although you can make it the day of! It's family style here and my two favorite dishes were the dancing yucca and hamachi ceviche! It really brought out the two Hispanic and Asian cultures to me. I wasn't the biggest fan of the tallarin zhen fe (my husband really enjoyed it) because I thought the noodles were undercooked. The Brussels sprouts and dumplings were pretty good! Definitely coming back here to try more dishes :)

Honestly, it's average food at above average prices. The ambiance is what you're paying for here, because the space is pretty cool. I was surprised at how busy it was, despite the average tasting food. It is loud and difficult to have conversations, so that is worth considering. I got to sample quite a few dishes, and aside from Siu Mai, I don't think there's a single dish I would order again. I love Peruvian food and Chinese food, but this didn't work for me. The prices are not absurd by any means, but for the same money there's better places. Service was also really slow. Food came out decently fast, but it took forever to pay.

I had no idea there was another José Andres spot in a two block radius - and it was worth the visit! Our server was attentive and made a great recommendation on the cauliflower when we decided to get another dish. We especially loved the ceviche Nikkei - great flavor and texture. The Hong Kong rich noodle dish was so so compared to the rest. And the dessert - yum! Tasted like caramel with passion fruit ice on top. The decor / ambiance is both modern and also low key - they have metal chairs, and funky lights. It doesn't have the higher end feel -- if that's what you want, try Zaytinya.

We enjoyed our weekend brunch. We order 2 ceviches to share, a tuna and octopus. All of us loved the tuna. One didnt care for the octopus. For entrees, we ordered the cheeseburger from the brunch menu which was fantastic. We didnt care for the plantain sides though. We also shared the Concolon fried rice and added shrimp, which had really interesting spices. I would come here again. Cocktails were kind of a miss though. Waitress wasnt very familiar with the cocktail menu.

We're fans of Chef José Andrés whole make the world a better place vibe and have made it our mission to try all of his DC restaurants whenever we're in town. This time up it was China Chilcano...Pervian/Asian/Spanish fusion food with lots of vegetarian options and unique things to try. We (my wife, son and I) all got variations of the tasting menu and each made different choices from the options available...and we each had different experiences. I had a bit of a "the grass is greener" experience as I tried bits of what my son had ordered and generally preferred what he got in terms of taste and texture. Universally, the food was gorgeous and presented in a photo-ready manner one would expect from this kind of establishment. The desserts were also unique and worth trying. (Often desserts at a nicer place can be standard variations of the same thing you can get anywhere...what's on the menu here is worth sticking around for as you can't get it anywhere else. I also had a Pisco Sour Cocktail...I'm a fan of trying the things that are unique to where I am...in this case, the cocktail looked and tasted great, but it had more of a standard sour vibe than anything else. If the Peruvian pisco liquor had any unique taste, I wasn't able to perceive it in this cocktail. Service was perfect.

Not one of Jose Andre's best restaurants i just admit. It's probably at the same level as Jaleo. The ceviche and Hamachi was ok nothing special. My clients enjoyed their lomo saltado and tallarines saltado. My shrimp saltado was ok but a little bland. Servers were friendly and the ambiance is nice inside with fun decor throughout the restaurant which is pretty big. I'll try other places next time I'm in the nation's capital. Would recommend you do the same.

Food was excellent, especially for dim sum Tuesday! Service was dismal. At least the host acknowledged my existence... he even had to ask if I had been served and of course no, no water yet in 90 degree heat wave. Server never came by so he even took my order. I had to flag someone down for a check and more water. I'd go here for the food, but the service was terrible.

Came here with my friend and had a delicious meal consisting of Ceviche Nikkei, Lucky 12 (4pcs of 3 different types of siu mai), and the Aji de Gallina. My favorite was siu mai! Out of the three types of siu mai, the siu mai tradicional was my favorite. The Aji de Gallina delicious but not the best I've had. I do think fusion restaurants generally are always half-good at traditional dishes and miss the mark. My friend and I were most impressed by the dessert: ponderaciones de kiwicha! The banana ice cream it comes with was DELICIOUS, it pairs so well with the cocoa powder! I would come back just for dessert and also want to try Dim Sum Tuesday discounted deals. Service was fast, and the lights inside the restaurant are super cool I loved the ambiance. Random but the bathrooms also are very interesting very on theme.

Came here before a show at Warner Theater - a little far from the venue but not a bad walk! We started with the brussel sprouts and yucca fries - both were incredible. A bonus was their ability to accommodate for gluten allergies! For my main I got the Tam Tam with a fried egg - it was so flavorful and a perfect portion! Highly recommend for a date night or dinner with friends!

Travel Check in, went to DC for dinner and it also happened to be "Restaurant Week". Super cute place, the place creates a menu with different fusions from different cultural menu items. Super exciting coming from a Foodie. Food; Restaurant Week came with three courses and a dessert. Started off with the Kam Lu Wantan, which was sooo good. All the courses were different and eclectic with flavors that burst in your mouth. I wish I took better notes on the names of the dishes, everything was fresh and delicious. We have a server recommended bottle of wine that paired perfectly with everything. Service; We sat outside with the view of the street and lights. Everyone was so helpful and friendly.

How is the parking situation? Especially for Friday's night. Thank you.

Our rez was for 9pm and we found street parking around the corner. There's also lots you can pull into around the corner. But cars were pulling in and out on the street so give it a shot first.

Is there pet friendly seating? We have a small dog

Yes they have outdoor seating that allows for space for a dog!

Is there normally a line for lunch?

No. We've walked right in and seated right away a few times....never a line at lunch time in my experience.

Is pisco hour at the bar only?

    Yes - bar only

Far from a standard dining experience, the multi-course tasting menu here is a masterclass in storytelling through food, structured around Peru's distinct topographical regions. Every course is presented with insight and depth of the food you are able to consume. The flavors are bold. The courses are well thought through. The service is impeccable. From start to finish, we were greeted with warmth. Everything you eat wakes up the palate without overwhelming you. If you aren't into seafood, this journey through Peru may not be for you. We settled on the four course tasting menu and ordered an extra ceviche. To be honest, this felt more like a seven course meal. The textures, color and artistry are unparalleled. Causa isn't just a meal--it's an evocative, deeply memorable exploration of Peruvian gastronomy. It is absolutely a must-visit for anyone looking to celebrate a special occasion or experience culinary storytelling at its absolute finest. I'm still thinking about the Heart of Palm, scallop ceviche, sweet potato sea urchin dish.

We had reservations to dine at Amazonia, we arrived before our reservation time and were greeted not very amicably. The service the rest of the night was equally as mediocre. Our waitress was unfriendly and didn't check in as often as needed. We were done with our food and a good 20 min went by without getting the dessert menu we had requested. When we were done another 15 min went by before we got the check even though there were only 3 tables occupied. We sat in the patio, the ambiance was nice but the cherry on top of the mediocre food and bad service was when we saw a mouse running under the tables. Luckily it was when we were waiting for our check because I would have definitely left mid dinner. Definitely not the dinner experience we were hoping for. Now on to the food: I will start off by saying that we love Peruvian food. We have traveled to Peru a few times specifically to try their amazing cuisine. We have tried various Peruvian restaurants in DC (at different price points) and around the US and this one without a doubt has been the worst. - lomo saltado: we ordered this because it is hard to mess up this dish. It is always tasty! Well, somehow it was not the case. The sauce was way too thick and tasted like straight up tomato puree. - ceviche amazonico- the portion was small, the sauce was tasty but nothing memorable. It was too fishy in a bad way. - papas de huancayo- these were the best out of all the dishes ordered. But weren't amazing. We order a pasta, I forgot the name, with a ragu sauce- it was ok-ish. Is this even Peruvian? For dessert we had the chocolate cake with Lucuma ice cream- the portion was tiny. Again it was ok, but nothing amazing or memorable. Overall the food was not at all what we were hoping for. The portions don't match the steep prices. And the flavors are not there. At least not the traditional Peruvian flavors. The service was terrible but of course they automatically add a 20% service fee on the tab. What motivation do the servers have to do a good job if they know they are getting the tip anyways? Overall this was a bad experience, we won't be back and won't recommend.

Let's start with the obvious. If labor matters so much, build it into the price. Every other business manages to pay employees without turning the receipt into a public relations campaign. Instead, Chicken + Whiskey wants customers to admire them for charging extra after the fact. As for the food, the chicken looked less "wood fired" and more "insurance claim." One piece was so aggressively charred it appeared to have entered the atmosphere and returned. The sides were forgettable, the presentation was indistinguishable from a middle school cafeteria tray, and absolutely nothing on the table justified the premium pricing. The entire experience feels engineered by a marketing team. Keep the menu prices looking lower than reality. Add surprise fees later. Call them something noble. Hope nobody notices. We noticed. The funniest part is that the restaurant seems convinced the labor fee demonstrates transparency. Real transparency would be putting the actual price on the menu. What they're doing is the restaurant equivalent of an airline advertising a cheap ticket and then charging separately for the wings. For a place so concerned with fairness, they seem remarkably comfortable being unfair about pricing. I left feeling like I'd paid admission to watch a TED Talk about compensation practices while eating chicken that looked like it had been recovered from a structure fire. The food wasn't good enough to justify the price. The price wasn't honest enough to justify the policy. The policy wasn't clever enough to justify the attitude. One star. Raise your prices. Pay your staff. Stop expecting applause for it.

DC blocks can be super long to walk and it can take a while to cross the busy streets. With our event coming up I figured why not. We went with the 40 Person Package from their catering menu. I think they under-describe this. It states it is for 40 people, but the amount of food you receive can easily feed more than that. Especially when it comes with four full pan sized side dishes. Definitely enough food to feed a crew and have leftovers. For our sides we went with White Rice, Plantains, Mashed Potatoes, and House Salad. All the food was received well by our crew and they were pleased to be able to partake in what was left after the meal was done. The White Rice comes with peas and carrots right in it. The Plantains are fried perfectly. Mashed Potatoes were velvety (sadly they appear to have taken them off the menu since we ordered). And the House Salad was a light side to rest of the rich food. What was over the top here was the delivery of the food. This was two weeks post snowstorm and the streets of DC were still mini mountains to climb. Our delivery person was amazing with the delivery. He, however, had the mishap of the mashed potatoes deciding to ditch before being delivered. He was very apologetic, cleaned it off the sidewalk outside, and went back to the restaurant to bring a fresh tray. That is superb service in my mind.

However, I was a little annoyed that we learned about the prix fixe brunch, which includes three courses for $34, after we placed our orders and started eating. While eating, I noticed that other folks at the bar where ordering from a different menu, and the server let me know that they were ordering from the brunch menu. So, I'm thinking that the other bartender forgot to give us both the brunch menu and regular menu when we sat down. Regarding parking, I do not think the restaurant has its own parking, but there is street parking and plenty of parking garages in the area. If you are not familiar with the area, you may want to look up some garages before heading out because the prices can range from a couple of bucks per hour to $7+ per hour. I have a feeling that we'll return to this location - mainly as a way to avoid dealing with the rigamarole of commuting to DC and dealing with DC-related traffic and shenanigans.

Tucked into the heart of Dupont Circle with its unmistakable bright blue awning, the restaurant is intimate, moody, and always buzzing. Inside, you'll find dim lighting, a handful of cozy wooden bar booths, seats along the bar, and a few outdoor tables. It's not a huge space, which only adds to its charm and makes every reservation feel like a win. The atmosphere is perfect for sharing dishes and lingering over dinner with friends. The food was incredible...I genuinely loved every single bite. Just be prepared: the Sichuan spice is no joke! If you aren't expecting it, it'll definitely sneak up on you (in the best way). My must-orders? The chili wontons, Dan Dan noodles, and beef noodles. Every dish was packed with bold flavor and left me wanting to come back for more. If you've been trying to score a reservation, keep at it. Astoria is one of those places that's absolutely deserving of its reputation, and I'll be thinking about those noodles until my next visit.

Inside had small tables and a kinda casual cocktail bar vibe Beef Noodles - the highlight and actually very good! The noodles are long and handmade and chewy. They hold onto the sauce very well! The sauce has a slight kick and is very savory. The beef is soft and also flavorful! I feel the price for the portion is kinda expensive though 8/10 Chili wontons - skin is silky and soft, sauce is savory with a small kick as well! Even though the sauces look similar to beef noodle they taste very different. The fillings had good flavor and overall were good but were a bit tougher and dryer than I would prefer. 6/10 Crab fried rice - crab is slightly overcooked but naturally sweet. It has a light curry taste throughout and was pretty good but didn't really stand out 5.5/10 Mapo tofu - slight kick and nice savory taste in the sauce! However I think they cut the tofu pieces way too large or the tofu they chose had way too much tofu flavor that overpowers the sauce. I'd prefer a very light silky tofu but this was a soft tofu. 6/10 Vpod - at first it just tasted like orange juice but then the other flavors peek through on the after taste and when I mixed it more. Even though it was good, it still felt very basic 5/10 Philadelphia Scotsman - it's pretty ginger forward. Technically the level of ginger spice is fine but strong but then the rest of the drink got completely overpowered and so this just wasn't that great 2.5/10
