Garlic Green Beans with Fried Tofu

This review is for two take out orders. The first time I ordered by calling the restaurant, the second time I used Door Dash. Both experiences worked very. I ordered dinner the first time and picked it up and had it delivered the second time. I have now eaten the duck, three chow meins, rice, green beans, a vegetable dish, egg rolls and crab puffs. Every dish has felt clean and tasted clean. No chemical after taste, no excessive saltiness. I have been impressed with the food here.

We did take out here with a great assortment of dishes: Crab cheese puffs Peking duck with bao and plum sauce Tangy lemon chicken Spicy garlic eggplant Fried rice with vegetables Vegetable Chow mein House chow mein Peking duck was fabulous! Crab cheese puffs were excellent (just not enough of them). Loved the lemon chicken, and although I don't like eggplant, this spicy garlic was great disguising the eggplant! Both chow meins were yummy. Can't decide which one I liked the best. I didn't feel like a needed to drink a lot of water after eating which sometimes I feel like after Chinese food. That's a good thing. Definitely going to make this place a go-to for Chinese food!

Go-to Chinese comfort spot China Chili serves up Cantonese, Szechuan, and Hong Kong-style dishes in a classic, no-frills setting. I've been here for both lunch and dinner, but lunch is my usual, fast, easy, and always hits. My favorite: House Special Chicken (not spicy) -- yes, I'm a wimp but it's flavorful and perfect every time. Service is always quick and friendly, which makes it an easy go-to.

Our family has been coming to China Chili for years, and it continues to be one of our favorite go-to spots whenever we're craving authentic, flavorful Chinese cuisine. The food is consistently outstanding, and the warm, attentive service keep us coming back time and time again. On this visit, we ordered the sautéed whole lobster with green onions and ginger, beef lo mein, shrimp lo mein, walnut shrimp, and fried rice. Every dish was prepared beautifully and packed with flavor, but the lobster was truly divine. Perfectly cooked, incredibly tender, and infused with the aromatic flavors of fresh ginger and green onions, it was one of those dishes that leaves a lasting impression long after the meal is over. The beef and shrimp lo mein were equally delicious, with rich savory flavors and generous portions, while the walnut shrimp was perfectly crisp with a delicate sweetness that balanced the dish beautifully. The fried rice was the perfect complement to everything on the table. We also enjoyed a few sake bombers, which are hands down the best we've had anywhere. They are always perfectly prepared and have become a must-order whenever we visit. They pair wonderfully with the food and add an extra touch of fun to an already fantastic dining experience. What truly sets China Chili apart is its consistency. Whether it's your first visit or your hundredth, you can always count on exceptional food, attentive service, and genuine hospitality. The staff is welcoming, friendly, and always makes us feel like valued guests.

$100+ We called for take out dinner and I had been to this restaurant in January and the food was good so I expected it to be a 4 or 5 star experience. The best thing on our $127 (before tip- for takeout?) meal was the green beans... with the fried rice and orange chicken earning a 3 star. Everything else was not good with the worst thing on the menu being the sichuan beef not even edible. I wouldn't feed that to my dog. Nothing was spicy" and we ordered spicy for everything except the sesame chicken and the rice. The hot & sour soup was tasteless ... my husband ate a little of it but I ended up flushing what was left down the toilet. The crab puffs were flat... 6 of them for almost $9 ... stupid. This was disappointing. Then at the pickup they expect a tip with the minimum being 18%... wow. I'm being generous with the 2 stars.. my family says 1 is more like it.

The place is sooooo goood the food is actually mouth watering. The service is so fast ,they hate to have dirty plates in the table they grab them immediately. The servers are super sweet and nice.Always asking if you're ok.The ambiance is like a throw back place is so cute.

This place has been staying steadily in business for awhile. And always busy when I am dining here. Spacious inside, with aquariums of fish and decor that let's you know you are at a Chinese restaurant. Staff is always helpful and fast. As is the food, hot and fast. Which is always an easy best to return. Their Kung Pao shrimp is always satisfyingly good. Jumbo prawns sauteed with dried chili peppers, bamboo shoots, and water chestnuts and spicy Kung Pao sauce, then topped with peanuts. It comes with soup of the day and a vegetable roll, as this is their lunch special. Doesn't break the bank and tasty all around.

Had lunch with some coworkers (about 7 of us) and we all had a lunch special. I chose the tangy chicken again (sauce on the side) it was soo good! Service was prompt and friendly. Love getting lunch here!! I hope to visit more often this year cause it never disappoints

What a freaking gem. Came here for the first time and can genuinely say this is the best Chinese food spot in Phoenix, probably Arizona. Walked in and was immediately transferred back to the old school Chinese restaurants back east. We did the Phoenix dinner for 2 and substituted the pork for orange chicken. Everything was absolutely delicious. First came out the salad which was super flavorful and fresh. Fresh lettuce, noodles, amazing dressing and super tender chicken slices. It came with two wontons which were also soo good. Perfectly crisp and filled with a cream cheese stuffing that complimented the salad perfectly. Hot and sour soup was next and while that's not usually my favorite soup, it was great and had depth in the flavor. Then came our entrees, huge in size and definitely worth the price. The kung pao chicken had delicious flavor and veggies were perfectly cooked. The fried rice was not your average, it had chicken, shrimp and the most tender beef. The orange chicken was definitely my favorite. You can tell they use breast and the crisp on the outside was so perfect, sauce was sweet with a little kick, just perfect. Service was insightful, quick and friendly. I think my bf had his sprite filled at least 3 times and I was asked if I wanted another coke at least 5 The ambiance is authentic yet casual with Chinese art and tapestry on the walls, fish tank, etc. We will definitely be back.

    Bar BBQ Pork Slices

The food has always been very good every time we visit. Which sadly isn't that often because it's a drive to get there. If I lived closer I'd eat there at least twice a week. The service is efficient because everyone shares the load. You don't just have one server. The ambiance is your typical large dining hall Chinese restaurant. A large open room with various sized tables with the typical paper table covers and zodiac paper place mats. If you don't know the vibe you don't get out for Chinese much. On to the food. For appetizers we got the BBQ pork slices. Very good but not anything great or special. I'd stick with the pot stickers for my appetizer of choice. Get the pork in an entree or the fried rice. For our soup choice we went with the sizzling rice soup. Very good with sliced chicken breast and veggies. And the rice actually sizzles. Since unlike some other restaurants it doesn't have shrimp or pork I might choose something else next time. Entrees. The star of the show in my opinion and others is the orange chicken. Not your standard chunks breaded and fried soaked in a sweet sugar syrup but a full chucked breast breaded and fried to a perfect crisp then sliced like a katsu and covered in a slightly sweet and slightly spicy sauce with hint of orange. I could eat this all by myself and be happy. Next we got the Mongolian Beef. Average. Not great, not bad, just average. Too saucy with too many onions. Nothing compares to China Chef in Morton Grove, IL. The pork fried rice. Pretty good with lots of bbq pork. Way more than you get in the slices. My only gripe with most places is there's no place for carrots and peas in fried rice. Bean sprouts and scallions is the way to go. But here it's the frozen veg carrots and peas combo. Oh well. Next time I think it will be mu shu pork instead of Mongolian and hot and sour instead of sizzling rice soup. One other comment. Like most restaurants in AZ. The egg rolls are really spring rolls. Hard pass as real egg rolls have won ton wrapper skins, shrimp and bbq pork with a hint of peanut butter in them. Outside of NY or Chicago I've never found the real deal.

Only downside is that…read morefor some reason Apple maps was not accurate to finding the location and parking was a challenge as it is right on Roosevelt Row. However as soon as I found it and immediately after entering Pretty Penny I was transformed to the cutest little restaurant. I was greeted immediately and had made a reservation so even though my friend hadn't arrived yet, they sat me down. They instantly offered water and menus (food and cocktail). I noticed that the menu seemed very small and the dishes were shareable -- I don't eat meat so I was hoping my friend wouldn't mind sticking with fish and seafood (which she didn't). As soon as I got to my table there was the cutest sign that said welcome to Sarah Sherman and guest -- it was such an adorable and personal touch, I loved that! As soon as my friend got there we immediately both ordered the cold brew old fashioned -- we thought about the espresso martini but this just sounded too good to pass up -- and we were not disappointed! This drink was so tasty and strong. We immediately ordered the bread (sourdough boule) to soak up some of the alcohol as well as some oysters and the salsa. The oysters were so well spiced and were absolutely delicious. But the bread, the bread, the bread -- the server mentioned that it took almost 9 months to develop the bread recipe and it served. It was the best bread and butter that I think I have ever had! The salsa was good but probably was my least favorite of everything and it was still super yummy. We then moved on to the octopus tostadas. Sometimes octopus is not my fav -- it can be too chewy but this was so amazing and incredibly flavorful. It was starting to be my favorite dish until we ordered the Hamachi -- OMG!! Talk about a mouth orgasm-- both my friend and I were yummming it up -- but seriously this bite was so complex with different flavors coming up with every chew -- it has coriander candied peanuts, fermented pineapple, avocado, pickled fresno, toasted coconut and aji amarillo yogurt -- The server mentioned that this was the chef's least favorite dish which I totally do not understand because this was off the charts in my book. We also tried the earl gray whiskey sour, which was light and delicious, and ended with the shrimp toast and the espresso martini. By the way the toast on the shrimp toast was like a little fried dough triangle -- sooooo gooood! The martini was good but the cold brew old fashioned really stole the spotlight for me. Other details I loved that just elevated the experience: Purse hook (very important to me), the little trays for your utensils, metal coasters, incredibly attentive servers, fantastic music, great ambiance and the cutest was the penny they put on top of your check. So cute -- was not expecting such an enjoyable all around experience!! Will be back 1000%!!!

From the great wood grain basement dark ambience to to the raw, regular bar, and multiple sit-down options, we have tried it all. The allure of trying to find a place down in a basement where you have to find the right elevator was pretty bad ass. The hosts along with the waitresses and bar tenders are always welcoming and knowledgeable about their food and drink. I also think it is cool that you can get lockers to store your expensive liquor for return trips. We often come here for drinks and oysters, because my wife loves oysters and they have a wide range of options that aren't exactly cheap, but don't break the bank for freshness and taste. I only really mark down the rating because the menu has been stale over the years and they used to offer elk that is no longer available. Now call that pretentions or snooty, but I think they could use some unique options to keep the experience moving each time you come in. Also, I feel a restaurant of this caliber should be evolving to match their cool vibe and unique experience. I usually get the Wren house beer but feel the beer optiosn are limiting I also feel like some of their cocktails are overpriced, but they are unique compared to other places, so maybe I am just cheap. So really this rating should be more a 4.5. What really brings you back is the cool art on the wall with a Theodore Roosevelt slant and cool sitting areas like a sofa setting in what looks like it would be his old school library. Don't get me wrong everything I have eaten here has been good, but nothing hearkens back like that elk. This place makes for an amazing tinder date if you are willing to drop that cash and make that impression, come here then hop on over to Valley bar and she will think you are magician of illusive locations if she hasn't already been there.

I also really enjoyed the ambiance. It has that energetic downtown feel and is a great spot for sporting events, drinks, dinner, or just hanging out. There's also outdoor seating with misters, although with temperatures still over 102F at 7 p.m., most people wisely chose to dine inside where it was much cooler. A little history The Arrogant Butcher opened in 2011 at CityScape in downtown Phoenix, becoming one of restaurateur Sam Fox's early downtown Phoenix concepts under Fox Restaurant Concepts. Its location right in the heart of downtown, next to what was then US Airways Center, made it a natural destination for game nights, conventions, and downtown visitors. All in all, great downtown location, excellent service, delicious food, and a fun atmosphere. It's conveniently located not far from the Sheraton, which made it an easy walk/ride for us. Highly recommend The Arrogant Butcher! And a special shoutout to Chia for taking such great care of us. Cheers!

If the sandwich was any bigger then work afterwards wouldn't have been fun. Oh, also got a delicious dirty martini to pair with the food. Gin served down and it was made to perfection! Including the drink and an $8 tip the total for lunch was $48. Which isn't horrible. Been craving oysters recently so probably will be back for dinner and get an appetizer and dessert too. Good service, fresh seafood, and clean restaurant. I'll be back!

Outside is just as high class and wonderfully decorated as the inside. We even got a couch booth and got to sit next to each other. We did the summer special which was the best special I've ever seen. $60 per person and you get a generous glass of wine, app, entree, and dessert. We both got the curried corn bisque for the app and my oh my I greatly enjoyed this even on a hotter day. The Smokey popcorn was a nice textural addition and the soup was so flavorful, the curry definitely shined through! We also both got the fried chicken for entrees; how could I not order the gluten free fried chicken!? Yes, naturally gluten free! This was outstanding. I'm not sure what the coating is, but it was so so flavorful and so crispy, and the chicken still so juicy. I could eat that on its own. The pepper jems were a cute touch! The mashed potatoes were so creamy. The chicken was placed on top of them so the bottom of the chicken did get soggy so my one suggestion is to place the chicken to the side, but the coating did rub into the potatoes which added some more flavor. The green beans were also tasty, nothing special, but the pistachio butter elevated it (nothing else needed the pistachio butter, not sure what else you use it for). I had a chocolate cake for dessert, the only gluten free dessert they offered me, but I still appreciate the option. It was just okay. The cake was dense and a little dry and didn't scream rich chocolate. There was a chocolate mousse layered in which helped. My boyfriend had some sort of strawberry cake mousse thing with layers of many different things - he thought it okay, I tried the mousse part and really liked it. We had red wine and it was delicious! The service was great, very attentive and they packed some ice in a cup for me because we weren't going home after!

We had reservations, were greeted and seated immediately. We decided to share tapas to allow the opportunity to sample a wider variety of dishes. Happy hour menu provided a great opportunity at a reasonable price. We order hummus and peta bread, olives with almonds and a couple of church music IPAs. The beers and olives arrived in a few minutes and the hummus about ten minutes later. Loved the red pepper flavor of the hummus. Beers were cold and refreshing. Next we decided to try the honey saffron and sumac Socca. It was unique and delicious. The ingredients truly complement each other, with the sumac bring a tart flavor to the honey saffron. We also tried the crispy eggplant with tzatziki sauce which was a standout, one of the best bite of the evening. Our last two dishes we selected were the K4 meatballs with parmigiana in a wine sauce and the grilled octopus. The octopus was okay but not as good as it was last time, too many white beans and octopus texture was off. The meatballs were excellent with bold flavors. The atmosphere was quiet initially but the restaurant filled up and got busy about 15 minutes later. Love the open kitchen and eclectic decor. Our server was friendly and attentive. Highly recommended for a unique dining experience before a show downtown! Enjoy!

There's an Asian-inspired flavor profile--savory, slightly sweet, and full of umami. The carrot cake is absolute chef's kiss as well~ not too sweet and is a great portion to share between two people.
