Went for the reviews with all the hype around the orange chicken and it was some of the worst orange chicken I ever had. The chicken was large breasts and lacked orange flavor, they looked like wings when opening the box. Customer service was rushed for the pick up and no thank you or anything after paying. No soy sauce, no fortune cookies in the bag and the sauce was spilled all over the boxes. Sweet n sour chicken came with 2 tiny cups of sauce and hardly battered at all. Authentic Chinese food--actually, it's Cantonese food precisely say in downtown Phoenix. The restaurant was larger than we expected, great for family and friends. The location was also closed to hospitals and commercial offices, so they do offer lunch specials from Mon-Sat at noon time. read more

Customer Service here is Horrible! We had to wait almost 10 minutes without any acknowledgment from the servers, to be seated. Our order was taken and our drinks were delivered. How, did customers that came 15-20 minutes AFTER us get served BEFORE us. And the servers just walked by glancing at our empty drinks after waiting for almost an hour for our food. We had to ask a male server to refill our drinks and he had an attitude. We had 4 dish orders and the table that came after us had about 8! Unsatisfactory! Had family style for 8 people and we ordered the duck, orange chicken, teriyaki chicken, Mongolian beef & kung pao shrimp. Honestly the food was pretty decent, but just did not hit the spot. There's probably a ton of other Chinese spots that are much better, but I will say their interior decoration and lunch prices were pretty solid. I found this gem thanks to Yelp. Nice big restaurant. It was packed. Very clean. The customer service was excellent. Very well mannered and attentive. The hot and sour soup was delicious. There is China Chili, and then there's all other Chinese food places. I have a hard time going anywhere else since they have set such a high bar. When you eat there, you don't get a waiter, you get 6 of them all teaming up to handle everyone. The food always comes quickly regardless of how busy they are. Also you will get a MOUNTAIN of food on your plate when you dine in person. Still a large healthy option when you order take out, but it seriously seems like you get twice as much in the restaurant. read more

I've been a long time customer China chili over 10 years went for dinner last night and the food was actually disappointing. Interestingly, enough other friends recently went, said the same thing, and the men's bathroom urinal has been broken for over a year. It's rather disgusting in there. They seem to have given up on paying attention to matters that we go out to eat for i.e. the food quality. We had the same server we always have and have had for probably 5 to 6 years when we brought up the issues she just seem to say oh. sorry China chili you've lost me as a customer time to find a new spot read more

My family and I have been coming here for years. The food has always been good and service is top notch. With such positive remarks you might wonder why I only rated it two stars. Our last visit was far from the food and service we have grown accustomed to. My family and I came for dinner on a Tuesday night. The restaurant was not too busy. We were seated immediately, then we sat there for a good 10-15min before the waitress even came over to take our drink order. The food took an unusually long time to come out, but everything was warm when it did. The fried rice was over cooked and the bbq ribs were super dry. Our waitress was awful. She never came to check on us or refill our drinks. After we were done eating out meal we waited and waited for our waitress to come over and bring us the check. Finally I was able to get her attention. She seemed annoyed that we requested boxes to take home our leftovers. What really bothered me was that I watched her smile and laugh and talk so kindly to other tables, but she avoid my family like we weren't worth her time. read more

We love China chili!! We've only ever taken it to go, so I can't speak to the ambiance or table service but it's always very busy there and they have never messed up a to go order. It's always double-checked and carefully packaged. I really haven't found much in the valley I like in terms of Chinese food but every meal we have had here is outstanding and full of flavor. Wow oh Wow! Delicious & Authentic Food! Saw a post about this restaurant on Nextdoor, got takeout the next day. Just moved to phoenix a few months ago and have been trying to find authentic chinese food and this restaurant brought it! The potstickers tasted delicious, were big and packed with flavor inside as well as tasteful sauce. Chow Mein tasted good and box was filled to the brim. Orange Chicken felt like a breathe of fresh air with a unique take on the strips of chicken; So soft and tender on the inside and crispy on the outside with a kick of spice. After only eating two different take out orders it was hard to decide on a rating. I did takeout from China Chili because I was in the area and they offered some dishes that I don't come across from take out restaurants near my home. Both my take out orders were packed well and were large portions that were two dinners each for me. Both meals were made with fresh tasting food that was flavored well. I was especially interested in the Tomato Chicken with Egg-flower. The tomatoes they used were fresh and not canned. The tomatoes were very sweet tasting like Campbell's Soup type of sweet. I thought it was an interesting dish. I really enjoyed the way they cooked the fresh tomatoes. I also tried the Flounder in Black Bean Sauce. I enjoy flounder and don't come across flounder much since I moved to Arizona. The Flounder was prepared reasonably well and was in a reasonable good black bean sauce. I don't know how all their dishes are but the two I tried were good. China Chili offers the usual take out Chinese and also some Chinese Foods that might be unique and some that you don't come across too often. read more

I got the vegetable egg rolls - they were served right away. Hot. Good. I added some hot mustard sauce to them. Didn't get a photo. I ate them too fast. Then I got the vegetable deluxe for my main course - wow so much food. Their portions are huge and prices are great. Plan on sharing. I only ate half. Some friends who have come here for years were coming here after it reopened it's dining room from the pandemic in-dining shutdown. We tried a few of their dishes: Peking Duck, Hot & Spicy Sichuan Prawns, Salt & Pepper Pork Chops and Spicy Garlic Egg Plant. I was pleasantly surprised by the Peking Duck w/baos. While it could have been a little more crispy for my preference, it was good. The rest of the dishes were ok, for american chinese dishes. The service was good and fairly quick. One of my faves. I've been going here for years. They have the best fried salt and pepper calamari. You get huge pieces of perfectly cooked squid, and the jalapeños just make it that much better. It has a great batter to squid ratio. I get it every single time. The hot and sour soup here is better than my mom's. Sorry mom. It's the perfect depth of flavor and spice, filled with tofu, bamboo, egg and shrimp. I also order this every time. The eggplant is spicy perfection. It's not mushy, very good texture and rich flavor. Orange chicken here is not one of my favorites, but it's good. My dad loves it. But to be fair, I don't "love" orange chicken, I only always just "like" it. It does have a good crisp batter and a not-too-sweet orange sauce. I love Chinese food and like to make it myself, where we live we don't have very good options but we were visiting the valley and after reading reviews decided on China Chill, you never expect much from a Chinese restaurant in Arizona but I can definitely say the food was very good and the menu had a large selection and had choices you don't find everywhere.
