We love the Chinese food at this location. They have a ton of options and the food is always delicious. They do both take out and dine in and everything feels very authentic. The service is incredible. The staff are always super attentive to your needs. I always enjoy coming here. Food can be pricey but it's definitely worth it so we don't mind it especially be size portion sizes are huge. The only downside is there's limited parking up front and in the back so it can be full at times and you have to park on the street or lot next door. Overall, my favorite Chinese food spot downtown. The fried rice, Mongolian beef, chow mein and crab puffs are some of our favorite dishes. The wonton soup is also great, especially for take out if you're ever under the weather. On a crowded weekend night, our group of five mid-maxed the strategy to get a table. Part of our group went way early and got on the waiting list and the others arrived not long after. We were promptly served and ordered won ton soup, chicken fried rice, orange chicken, mapo tofu, Peking duck w Bao buns and honey walnut shrimp. The soup came out and we delightedly slurped our way to a warm yumminess. Then shortly after the rest of our order arrived. The doughy buns and crispy skin paired with the warm and thinly sliced duck was a delight. The mapo tofu was silky and had nice flavoring but could have used more spice! The orange chicken had a perfectly fried skin and a generous splash of heat. The fried rice was not greasy and classic. I didn't try the shrimp but others said it was good. The packed parking lot and plentiful seating was a strong sign of excellent food. I wish we would have had a lazy susan at the table as to make the passing of dishes more convenient but it wasn't a deal breaker. I really love this place! We went there for Mother's Day dinner tonight , my choice of course! We were lucky as they still had Peking Duck available ( I had forgotten to preorder). It was so delectable. The duck was moist, tender and perfectly seasoned. Nicely nestled in light and airy buns, topped with plum sauce and scallions. All for $49 and could easily feed 4 people. We however couldn't pass up also ordering our favorite orange chicken w/rice. So needless to say we left with enough left over for an excellent lunch for 2 tomorrow. We ordered shrimp chow mein which came with approx 5 shrimp and loaded on bean sprouts and onion, the flavor tasted like it was bought in the frozen section at the store. We also ordered Mongolian beef, it was very mediocre I wasn't surprised by any great taste by any means. The beef was bland and it was also overloaded onions and bean sprouts. Side note, the beef was tender. The craziness of the whole experience.... NO CHILI OIL. LIKE WHAT THE?! I've heard so many great things about china chili over the years and it was an extreme let down. We got here before 4:30 on a Sunday and was seated immediately. It is now 5:34 and we are about to leave. Everything was excellent. We splurged on a whole steamed fish at market price and it was just how my dad used to make it after he came back with a fresh fish. Excellent! We had pan fried chow mein which was Hong Kong style. Seafood was varied and fresh with vegetables cooked just right. House fried rice was rich and flavorful. Szechuan Green beans excellent and salt and pepper chicken that others wrote about was tasty but looked nothing like a thought. Large portions and we spent about $120 for three of us taking home enough for several other people. My husband and son said I made a great choice coming here. I actually heard about it from my cardiologist who said his Asian clients include him for Chinese New Years celebrations here. Can't wait to share it with more family. read more

Picked up food from here for Christmas Eve since many other restaurants were closed at the hour we dropped in (9pm.) Since I was next door at Ocotillo, I could see there was a constant stream of business coming through the doors, so it's a pretty popular place. On this night, the restaurant was only doing pickup orders. The food we ordered (Mongolian beef, pork fried rice, salt and pepper squid) was ready in 15 minutes or so. During the ride back, the car was filled with all sorts of delicious smells but when I picked out a piece of calamari in the car, I was immediately disappointed. Once we got home, we opened the rice and Mongolian beef. So much oil in the Mongolian beef, and no spice at all. The dish should honestly just be called Scallion Beef. Fried rice seemed unnaturally brown, like it was dyed with a food coloring and there was rice vermicelli? In the Mongolian beef dish- which I have never seen before. Even for Americanized Cantonese, it missed the mark. Out of all dishes, the salt and pepper squid was the best. The restaurant space gives OG banquet nostalgia factor- two stars for that. However, if you are looking for good Chinese food just keep driving to Mesa or stop by Old town taste in Tempe. read more

China Chili is my go-to Chinese spot downtown. It's an affordable place to grab a quick lunch or bring the family for dinner. While I don't know if this is true authentic Chinese food (probs not), it sure is delicious. We love the orange chicken, all of their soups, the spicy wonton appetizer, and their tofu options. I usually order a side of green beans or eggplant to make the meal slightly healthier. For a special occasion, we'll get the Peking duck entree which comes with the softest pillowy buns to build your own sliders. Highly recommend if duck is your thing! read more

We got crab cake and egg rolls. This pissed me off the crab cakes look like they were flatten with a hammer and two egg rolls look like half an egg roll cut four times on a diagnol. Not a good day. This is a great place to eat if you have a large party since all of the dishes are family style and meant to be shared. We ordered various items and they were all brought out relatively quickly. My only complaint, however, is that the servers often times came off as rude when answering our questions. It's the best deal in town. This place is a staple of Phoenix and my default Chinese food restaurant. You can go to fancier locations, you can go to new concept spots, but NO OTHER place has the variety and flavors that China Chili can dish out. If your Chinese restaurant doesn't serve spare ribs, then you are in the wrong place. The service is fast and the food exceptional. It gets crowded quick, so maybe think take-out. We were seated right away and server took our order of drinks which were immediately placed at our table. Their lunch menu offers quite a variety of choices so I ordered the Sweet and Sour Prawns and my better half ordered the Teriyaki Chicken. The server brought us the Wednesday soup which was like a corn chowder and it was delicious. We had just finished the soup when our orders were brought to our table. We shared a portion of each other's dishes so that we could have a taste. My dish was excellent and flavorful but I did spice the sweet and sour with their chili to balance out the taste. I tasted some the teriyaki chicken and it was delicious as well. This restaurant is very nice inside and quite roomy. In the times I have been their food has never disappointed and their service is quick. I have been here during the dinner hours and has more to choose from the menu and every item on each menu is more than enough and delicious. Good fast friendly not much more you can really ask for when it comes to Chinese food and china chili delivers on that. Walked in and we'd heard for a long time to check this place out and my wife really wanted me to treat her to Chinese food before she leaves on her trip so stopped in and ordered some chow mein, beef w/ broccoli and started with some crab cheese puffs. Food came out quickly and everyone was really kind and nice. I guess it has that Chinese restaurant feel of when I was a kid as it was very nostalgic and since I'd never been before couldn't say if they hadn't changed much at this place. Not too many places make salt and pepper pork in phoenix, this place makes it the best by far. I love coming here, the staff are very friendly and the service is fast. Big portions for around $15 a plate. I could easily share just one but I can't not have an order of chow fun as well. Definitely recommend coming here for great take out! read more
