Pro-tip: If you order the duck, you can get it on mushu wraps, or with the bao buns. They actually only give the meat initially, but you can ask for the bones as well. Highlights: They have a really big menu and it's definitely classic Chinese restaurant with large tables to accommodate big families. The food is pretty authentic. Lowlights: The portions seemed a little small, but I guess it's shrinkflation since their prices are still reasonable. I would avoid the barbecue pork spareribs since every bite I had was all fat and no meat - this is one of my biggest pet peeves in ordering dishes like this because it's coated in batter and deep-fried so sometimes people don't notice they're just eating fat or the poor cuts of meats. read more

Our fav place for a big family dinner so that we can get a taste of all the dishes we like best! Peking pork chops, salt and pepper tofu, a big plate of noodles are not to be missed but my all time favorite thing to eat anywhere is China Chili's Peking Duck! Extremely fast service for lunch, the food was out right away, hot and tasty. The restaurant itself very nicely decorated and clean. In fact, service was so fast we were given our bill while still eating and we were prompted to pay while still eating too lol there are occasions when I appreciate this, so that's fine. Met up with friends for dinner and the place picked was China Chili, man this has been a place I have been wanting to try for years! China Chili does not do reservations and sometimes there is a line, but its so worth the wait! After checking out the menu I went with the sizzling black pepper chicken dish. It was thinly sliced chicken breast with onions and peppers in this black pepper sauce and it comes out on a sizzling hot plate. This was delish! Everything perfectly cooked, the flavors were amazing, Service is outstanding here at China Chili. China Chili is one of the best places to get Chinese food here in the valley and I can see why! read more

Still on the hunt for the best Chinese food in PHX area. Stop by China Chili with some friends for dinner. Service was decent didn't make any recommendations . We had Lo mein, chicken in Phoenix nest, Mongolian beef, and moo shu. The top items were the Mongolian beef and the moo shu. Will visit again. read more

This has been my go to for Chinese for years. I drive in from Chandler when I crave it. Orange chicken is the best I have ever had. I get it extra spicy (still only about a 3 of 5). The lunch special is a great deal. The spring roll that comes with it is mediocre at best but portions are generous so you don't need it. Service is fast. You can literally be I and out of there in 20 minutes if you know what you are doing/having. Parking is limited but there is a lot close by for overflow. Don't let that deter you. read more

I gave three for the great customer service. The employees were extremely attentive, social and kind. I really wanted to love this place! I have been planning on coming here for months! Appetizers- crab puffs. They were just a breath of crab. Super scant. Tiny and thin. We also got the egg rolls. They were super thin like lumpia AND they were cut in half!!!! We paid almost seven dollars for2 overcooked egg rolls. I ordered the Mongolian chicken- it should have been called Mongolian onions! Green onion, white onion- just a few pieces of chicken. Seriously, I get a little nauseous if I eat too many onions- my stomach was definitely rolling! Not good! My friend got the hot and spicy prawns. I wish I would have ordered that- even though they weren't anything to write home about. I brought home the leftover onions and Mongolian sauce - I think I'm going to just trash it. The food is good, but maybe a little bit on the oily side, but then again, most Chinese food is usually greasy & oily. They give you decent sized portions here. I ordered the classic Chicken Chow Mein that said it came with cabbage, onions, carrots, & beansprouts in it, but, I hardly saw any of that in it, so it's a tad disappointed. It was a bit on the bland side, so I added hot sauce to spice it up! The servers don't have much of a personality, but they get the job done. read more

Finding a good Chinese restaurant in the area, I'm told is a challenge. I actually read about China Chili in a recent Apple News article so brought the family here recently to give it a try. Service was good and our waitress was able to speak Cantonese with me, so that was legit, and she was able to communicate in English with my family. We ordered a number of dishes for a family of 5: orange chicken, Yang Zhou fried rice, peking duck, and salt and pepper chicken. The orange chicken and peking duck were quite good! Plus, there was no MSG in the food as we didn't experience the post MSG symptoms. The peking duck, especially, brought me back to my childhood, which is great. However, we were disappointed by the fried rice and the salt and pepper chicken. Overall, this place has some legitimacy but fell short in 2 of our dishes. I don't mind coming back but the search continues! read more

First time visiting China Chili. The cuisine is pretty good, Ordered the Dragon dinner for two, Dinner included: 1. Small salad with iceberg lettuce 3/5 2. Egg drop soup 4/5 3. Snow pea and chicken 3/5 4. Combo fried rice 3/5 5. Prawns with walnuts 3/5 The service is what makes this a solid four star dining experience. Yes, Panda sells quick fast food. China Chili(CC) is mechanical in the way they take care of their customers! From the time you walk in and are greeted through the time you pay for your meal. As a group they make sure you are well attended. I am not sure how many folks are working the kitchen, but the efficiency that they turn your meal around and serve you a fresh piping hot meal is very impressive! I would recommend CC to anyone who asks for good Chinese food in the area. I normally bring Mom here for lunch and she's a fan of China Chili! The lunch specials always come with a soup and an egg roll. Mom always enjoys the different soups that are brought to here when we dine here. We both have always savored our meals at CC! We have not encountered anything close to raising any flags of suspect. The patrons around us always seem to be enjoying themselves too. Last week I passed by this place and the sign caught my eye, I wrote it down in my notes and decided to go next time I was in the area. I went tonight for dinner after running some errands downtown with a friend and I loved it. Its a very large restaurant but it was full if people, the atmosphere was really doing something for me, it felt cute and cozy. We were sat promptly and given menus, which had a ton of options. We ordered half a duck, lemon chicken, and the Sichuan string beans. The service was quick and everything came out at the same time in about ten minutes! The lemon chicken was crispy and the sauce was nice and citrusy without being too sweet. The string beans were nice and crisp with slivers of pork and a nice coating of savory sauce. Lastly the duck! It was a great price for the amount we got! The skin was crispy and the meat was juicy and tender. It had good flavor too, with a nice amount of what tasted like five spice. I was really happy with my dining experience here! I plan on bringing my family to check it out sometime soon. read more

I lived in China for several years and Peking duck was often my staple food. I can safely say China Chili's Peking duck is right up there. I also love their fish in black bean sauce and honey walnut prawns. I'm giving it four stars because when I ordered beef and broccoli the broccoli was way overcooked, same with the Hong Kong noodles. But overall it's a great restaurant. I get food from them every week or so. read more

For Arizona, this was decent Chinese food and I would definitely recommend. I am from the Bay Area so my expectations are a bit higher but relative to the area, it was better than I expected. I have been coming to China Chili for many years. The food quality has gone downhill considerably. It is very inconsistent. I ordered Chicken Egg Foo Yung and Potstickers. The Egg Foo Yung was a puck of mashed up vegetables (I think??) with a lot of breading, a tasteless thin brown sauce and tasteless chicken tossed on top. Not appetizing at all! The potstickers were weird with a thick skin that was browned on one side only. The filling was like chunky babyfood consistency, and again no flavor. The kicker is this - it cost $26!! At least for the money it could have tasted good. I won't be back any time soon. Too many costly disappointments read more

Amazing and authentic chinese/Asian food! I was very impressed with the pricing as well as the quick service. We got the following - Boiled won tons - AMAZING! The peanut sauce is great Egg roll - typical egg roll but can't go wrong Spicy orange chicken - never have seen orange chicken like this. It was much less breaded and really light. Delicious! Kung pao beef - well cooked and loved the veggies Egg fried rice - not overly oily or fried! Light! We drove to China Chili from Scottsdale for our Sunday Easter dinner, and it did not disappoint! One of the oldest, if not now the oldest Chinese restaurant in Arizona, it is like you stepped into a movie, with the decor and authentic ambiance. The tables are big and round and they rotate - this place is the real deal "family style" restaurant. The food was excellent - fresh with large cuts, no skimping. We got cashew chicken, mongolian beef, sweet & sour pork, moo shu beef, fried rice, and... peking duck! It was Easter and our family was together so we splurged. The peking duck came with pancakes that the server wrapped at the table. My only complaint would be that the pancakes were ice cold, I would have preferred them steaming hot. The duck was absolutely delectable & succulent and the sauce that came with it was on point. I would order the duck again on another special occasion but maybe switch the pancakes or request them served piping hot. The sweet & sour pork was another highlight! It was done the authentic way (our favourite takeout place does them as the large corndough balls) and I would definitely order it again. Absolutely delicious. As was the mongolian beef and cashew chicken. The onions and celery etc were perfectly sliced and perfectly crisp and fresh. My gluten-free diet restricted mother-in-law really liked her moo shu beef, and our toddler dug into his fried rice and sampled a bit of everything. We got a couple Tsingtao beers and sodas and our huge family feast cost about $200. Very reasonable! The service was excellent and friendly and I can't stress enough how family-oriented the whole experience is. It had been over a decade since I went to China Chili for a business lunch. Unfortunately the food here was not good. The reviews were definitely misleading. We got the Curried Chicken and the chicken rice noodles and both dishes had no flavor, which was very surprising. We go here often and it is honestly the best Chinese food I've ever had. It's always clean and fresh. The service is really fast and efficient. I can't say enough about the food though. The house special chicken is delicious and it's all white meat chicken and you can tell it's not frozen it's fresh. The boiled wontons as an appetizer is a soup but so flavorful. Every time we go it's amazing and we are never disappointed. And less than 50 for two people is very affordable and there's always food leftover for the next day. read more

Meh. The foods become so bland over the years. I always get beef chop suey and fried rice. But the fried rice just tastes like fried cheap soy sauce. Lol. And the chop suey could be cooked longer. So I tend to finish cooking it at home first. They're a clean restaurant and portions are okay. But I only go here if I'm out of options of what to eat. They're also pricey. Came for late lunch after seeing New Hong Kong (which was rated top Chinese by Eater Phoenix) but had almost no one inside on Saturday lunchtime. Waitress #1 seated us and gave us the "luncheon special menu"...aka the Americanized Chinese menu. Err, slightly offended but maybe we didn't look Chinese enough with facial masks on. The other Chinese families at the big round tables definitely did not order from the luncheon menu. I asked another waitress in Mandarin if they had a separate menu, which she brought over. It had the full menu with Chinese names, and she also mentioned some daily specials they had. Folks, if you've only been eating from the luncheon menu, you've been missing out on the real deal! Order: Special pork dish of day (3/5)- misunderstood what it was, it was crispy pork not braised pork. Salt crust bit too crunchy, lacked melt in mouth taste. String beans with bean curd (4/5) - Chinese translation is off, reads as tofu, not bean curd. Oyster sauce bit too salty. Snow peas with mushroom (4/5) - tasted fresh. I love this place! The decore is dated BUT it's still clean and beautiful! The food is awesome and the prices are even better. Part 2! I went back because I could feel his smile through his mask (yes, his safety is important) . MUCH respect Mister Young. I went back. Again, nothing but great things today. I even got there 30 mins b4 they closed. Guess what, they didn't rush me, they were very kind and my new friend Young (server) is awesome. The kid makes great suggestions and is such a sweet kid. We continue to be impressed by both the quality and creativity of their food. On this visit, I ordered The Pilgrim, which is essentially Thanksgiving dinner wrapped inside a pasty. It features turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, and gravy. It arrived absolutely piping hot--seriously, give it a few minutes before taking that first bite--but once it cooled down, it was phenomenal. The combination of flavors was comforting and satisfying, and a little cranberry sauce with each bite provided the perfect balance. My only minor critique would be that the ingredients could have been distributed a bit more evenly throughout the pasty. I also found the gravy slightly more peppery than expected, occasionally overshadowing the stuffing, sweet potatoes, and turkey. Even so, this has become my favorite pasty at Cornish Pasty Co. We also tried the Peppered Steak pasty, which features sirloin, portobello mushrooms, leeks, zucchini, Stilton bleu cheese, and a peppercorn brandy cream sauce. The quality of the ingredients was excellent, especially the steak and the wonderfully flaky crust. For my personal taste, the peppercorn brandy cream sauce was a little more prominent than I prefer, and I found myself wanting more of the steak, mushroom, and Stilton flavors to come through. That's simply a matter of preference, though--it was still a well-executed dish made with quality ingredients. One thing Cornish Pasty Co. consistently gets right is the crust. Every pasty we've had has been flaky, flavorful, and substantial without feeling heavy. This wasn't our first experience with their menu. Over the years we've thoroughly enjoyed the Tikka Masala, the Lamb & Mint (which was a genuine "wow" dish), and the Royale. Those are all excellent choices, but after this visit, The Pilgrim has moved to the top of my personal rankings. Our two pasties came in under $20 each, making for a filling and satisfying meal at a reasonable price. We ordered takeout, and while there was a bit of a wait after we arrived, it's worth noting that these are made-to-order pasties, not fast food. Even though we only ordered a few minutes before arriving, the quality was well worth the extra time. My biggest criticism has nothing to do with the food. While waiting, my wife and I sat inside briefly, and we found the music extremely loud. During our visit, the restaurant was playing Silth, a progressive metalcore band. Musical tastes are obviously subjective, but the combination of the style and volume made conversation difficult for us. My wife eventually decided to wait in the car because it was simply too loud. The restaurant clearly aims for a lively pub atmosphere, with games available and a diverse mix of patrons enjoying themselves, so many people may appreciate that environment. It just wasn't a great fit for us. That said, the food is outstanding, the portions are generous, and we'll absolutely be back. We'll probably continue ordering takeout, but that's a reflection of our personal preferences rather than any issue with the restaurant itself. If you're looking for creative, well-made pasties with high-quality ingredients, Cornish Pasty Co. is definitely worth a visit.

This is one of my reviews that I struggled with writing, not because of the business...but because I didn't want anyone else to know. I must have put off this review for weeks as I enjoyed dish after dish of their delicious beef fried rice and spicy eggplant. The only thing that changed my mind and why I've decided to share this hidden gem is because they can handle the volume. Even on a Friday night where they had over 100 people in their sitting area, I called for a take out order and they said 15 minutes! Every other time I call it is usually 10 minutes, but to be totally slammed and only have the wait go up 5 minutes is amazing. So here are the dishes as I love em: - Beef fried rice, no peas, no carrots. I swear I could eat a whole order by myself, but my thighs would hate me in the morning. - Spicy eggplant...perfect mixture of tangy and spicy. Fell in love the first time I got it. - Honey walnut shrimp. Very good. I've tried various other dishes, had family over from Hong Kong and everyone can vouch for the authenticity of the taste. This place serves pretty authentic Chinese food. And it's a place that can serve a huge group of people for a special event. My family and I did all the ordering. Some of the dishes we ordered included House Special Chow Mein, Peking Duck, China Chili, and Tofu with Cha Sui, Pork Fried Rice, Singapore Noodles, Salt and Pepper Pork Chops, Egg and Shrimp. And I am happy to say these dishes were all great selections. We ordered everything non-spicy because most of our guests cannot tolerate spicy. We just had the spice bottles on the side. I have been loyal to Chinese Restaurant in the past BUT China Chili stole me away from my previous regular. Been going for the past 4 years. Dinner is their strong suit as the kitchen is going full steam ahead with a consistent food product that is freshly prepared. No MSG. Their specialty menue is authentic. First time at China chilli I have found the food to be a bit bland and in need of more seasoning, rating it 3 out of 5. However, the customer service was outstanding, with multiple servers attending to the tables. The restaurant's cleanliness and maintenance was spot on. I contacted China Chili to cater our office Holiday Party (it was a suggestion from a coworker) and they did not dissappoint. They were friendly on the phone and accomodated my substitutions when I placed the order. They showed up 10 minutes early and the food was DELICIOUS. It's not easy to please 20 people with only 4 dishes but they did, and did it well. Best of all, it was the cheapest catering bill we've ever had. I have gone to this location for lunch and dinner, probably around 30 times in the last 10 years. I am from back east, and have been enjoyed Chinese food there quite frequently. This location has the closest to the style I'm used to eating. The restaurant has ample seating, and Has a wide selection of food tastes for your whole family. Salad really cold and refreshing. Super crisp and cut nicely. Amazing flavor. Then the appetizers were super hot and fresh. Not oily. Bursting with flavor. Then the mains came. Everything cooked perfectly. The flavors of each dish just screaming at my taste buds. Enjoyed every bite. Then they brought out the steak for my husband. So juicy. So tender. And the sauce in the side just added to the flavor. We savored every bite. The quality and temperatures and flavors are off the chart. We could not finish all this bliss in one sitting, se we asked for boxes and containers. She gave us many to separate everything and a bag to haul it home in. The noodles were very hard in texture and unfortunately lacked flavor. The fried rice was also disappointing -- I expected the usual fried rice with some vegetables and flavor, but there weren't any veggies, and the rice itself was very hard and bland. We also tried the sweet and sour chicken, which didn't have that classic sweet, tangy flavor I was expecting. It was pretty bland, and unfortunately, the chicken tasted a little off to me, so I didn't end up eating much of it. I really wanted to love this place because the reviews are so positive and the restaurant is adorable, but based on this particular takeout experience, the food just wasn't for us. Maybe we caught them on an off day, but unfortunately, I don't think I'd be rushing back. Cute restaurant, but the food definitely missed the mark for us this time.

To make matters worse, each entrée is supposed to come with rice, yet only a very small portion was provided. At this point, it feels like this restaurant is cutting corners and poorly managed. I'm generally not someone who leaves negative reviews, but the lack of care, consistency, and food quality is impossible to ignore. This was my last time giving this establishment my hard-earned money. I'd rather spend it somewhere that values its customers and takes pride in the food they serve.
