FINALLY!! They open, after 10 months of construction. Lets review this place. The environment is very clean and neat. They really utilize the space very good. They have 3 4 seated dining table in there, so not bad. The place is also very bright. Comparing to panda express, this place is more welcoming. Ok lets review the food. The food is okay. not so good, but not bad either. The portion can be compared like the 99 ranch to go food. Price wise, 5.99 for 2 item, very decent. The food themselves...... I don't really like the egg flower soup. Too rich in flavor. Egg flower (or drop) soup should taste like egg and a bit salty. Honey chicken..... AWFUL! You will die after reading this story, it's like something that would happen in a sitcom. So I work down the street and originally wanted to go to subway but ended up parking right in front of China express and see their "3 combo $5.99 deal" and people sitting outside eating their food so why I think-okay why not. I go in line (it's like a Panda Express style assembly line) and here's a random guy my age that gets in line after me. We start just small talk and he seems cool so whatever- that was that. Then his order is done before mine but he let me pay first to be a gentleman. The girl gives me a receipt for 13 dollars. SHE CHARGED ME FOR BOTH OUR MEALS. We start laughing and I go "I don't know him" and she goes "OKAY HE CAN GIVE YOU CASH FOR YOUR ORDER" like..seriously? Yeah, let me ask this random person for cash because you messed up. She looks super confused and asks the manager what to do-like she's never refunded someone before. Then just gives me a random amount of money back. For the price and quality of food, I give this 5-Stars. The rice and noodles are the very basic, so don't expect any flare there, but the entrees are delicious. Teriyaki Chicken is very flavorful, I love the eggplant/tofu dish and the egg drop soup (although basic) is very good and filling. I had the mushroom chicken as well..honestly, all the entrees look pretty tasty. $6.99 for 2 entrees and a side. I substitute veggies instead of rice/noodles. My go to spot for Chinese in this area. Probably the best value for your money in the area based simply on total amount of food received. The pricing has increased over time but is still a bit less than the majority of many other nearby restaurants. The most popular option is their 3 items plus a side (meaning rice or chow menu) and a soup or a drink special - but it is also possible to get less items for a lower cost - or to order something different from the menu (at a higher cost). Smoothies (with and without Boba) are lower cost here than most cafes and tea houses - with the larger size being the best value for the price. Item portions are large enough to satisfy most hungry big eaters, people who like to share, or to have more than one meal available (for those able to not eat everything all at once and save some for later). I usually order To Go - even if I plan on eating there. Seating is somewhat limited - both inside and out. Parking is shared with a variety of other businesses and the lot can be quite busy during peak hours. Parking on the street is also a possibility - IF you think about BEFORE entering the lot. This Chinese food is nothing great, it's barely good. The wonton soup is the worse I've ever had. Two wontons floating in orange liquid! The dumpling was gooey, it melted in my mouth. I'm pretty sure it isn't suppose to do that lol and it tasted weird. The soup was very salty and no green onions. Definitely not use to that. I also had the ribs, orange chicken and rice. For what I call (cheep Chinese food) comen in San Diego and I like Chinese but this was bland and small portions

When I lived in San Francisco, before I retired to San Diego. I used to have a customer with a consumer electronics store on Clement St, a very Asian area of the City. His name was Koung Wong and his store was called Wong's Hi Fi. His story of how he came to SF as a very young man with little money and built his business is a wonder, and I will re tell it sometime but not in this forum. Koung knew I loved Asian food so we would always frequent one of the restaurants on Clement St and there were many of them including fabulous and authentic Dim Sum places. One time when Koung wasn't able to join us his salesmanager, Sammy Lee, and I went and Sammy told me I was in for a real treat. He took me to his favorite dim sum place where everybody knew him and loved him. Sammy had a powerful personality and was a really likeable guy. Always smiling, always an optimist, and a terrific salesman, because you hated to say no to him, which got him into a bit of trouble I suspected with the ladies who all wanted him even though he was a family man. Sammy ordered a special dish he told me, to go along with the Dim Sum plates he and I were eagerly nodding our heads in acceptance to from the young Asian waitresses, who all knew Sammy and told me they picked out the best ones for him. When the special dish came it was a big platter of steaming thin rice noodles, topped with curry, and bar b que pork, shrimp and chicken and vegetables. Sammy had them mix it at the table for us and then served me a large helping. We From that heavenly moment on I have been a huge fan and frequent eater of what Sammy told me was called Singapore style mei fun. It was a common dish in most San Francisco Chinese restaurants and although I tried almost all of them over the years, nothing equaled the place on Clement street Sammy took me too. When I moved to San Diego 7 years ago the only place I could find anything similar to this dish was PF Changs. They had it on their menu, and it wasn't bad but it was over priced and it wasn't even yellow, although it was described as having curry. I stopped in several Asian take out places in the beach areas where I live, trying to find it but not one offered, Singapore style mei fun. Some didn't even seem to know what I wanted, even though I described it to them. Finally, I googled the dish and I got excited by my discovery. There was a place called "China Express" out on Clarermont Mesa Blvd, just west of the highway 15 junction that specialized in this dish according to their google description. So I went there yesterday. It was in a busy strip mall on the North side of the Blvd. and it was a Chinese take out place, with a few tables, where you picked from a buffet set up like Panda Express. And I didn't see anything resembling what I wanted. I was worried they wouldn't speak English or know what I wanted, So I asked the cashier, and she did speak English and she said Yes. It is called Singapore style chow mei fun! I ordered it to go. And when I got home and popped off the top of the plastic container and experienced finally, the same steaming curry topped thin rice noodles topped with pork, chicken and shrimp, I had been lusting for, I was transported back over 30 years to my first introduction. Well, I know this is a lot of words for one Chinese dish, but It is so good it deserves this background history. China Express 5 stars for Singapore style chow mei fun. I don't know what the rest of their food is like but this dish is well worth the drive there, and it's a lot closer than San Francisco. read more

The server was nice but the food is gross. Very nasty Chinese food. Actually it doesn't taste like authentic Chinese food cos it taste so gross with no flavor. I see they use a lots of food coloring to make the food look nice. My chicken wing had feathers and that's very disgusting. Two wings equal one entrees. The orange chicken was okay some chicken was hard like rock yes exactly so hard to chew like overdue chewing gum. The kap pao chicken was hard like rock too. Just tried this place for the first time, I'm intrigued by their free delivery and needed some lunch variety. the food was hot, and plentiful, and cheap, and those are the 3 key things for me when i'm looking for chinese fast food. The egg drop soup was oddly dark orange, and somewhat lacked flavor, but the scallion pork was tasty and the orange chicken had actual small chunks of orange rind in it, which i appreciated. The chow mein was pretty greasy, but hey, its chow mein. This place sticks to a formula that works, definitely a solid option if you just want some damn chinese food. read more

Stick to the chicken, namely the orange chicken and the sweet and sour chicken. We got two beef entrees, the Szechuan Beef and the Beef and Broccoli and the beef is really fatty and gross. Also, the lo mein noodles were way overdone and too soggy, ew. No complaints, about the chicken entrees, however. At least half of our meal was edible. Also note, this is more of a fast food-type place, which I did not know as I ordered over the phone in a hurry (there's a lot of Chinese places closed on Sunday afternoons). First off let me start off by saying that it is a good place to get Chinese food for a BARGAIN price. I come here quite often, more than I probably should. The 4.99 deal for a 3-item combo plate is ones best bet. However, I'm not that big a fan of their noodles (Lo Mien style) but the entrees are not bad. I noticed in late December they improved their Won Ton Soup (My favorite). The broth had changed and change the quality of the soup in its entirety.
