Getting plum sauce is always an issue but today in my Chicken with Broccoli, there were metal shavings - 6 slivers that looked like they were grill scrubber bristles. The food was nasty I order orange chicken and beef with garlic ginger sauce. The veggies where not cut to be able to eat unless you picked them out and cut them yourself. Its bad. The chicken is weird. Fried rice was gritty. Egg roll was ok. I will eat anything, but this was not etible.

I have worked in the restaurant industry before and I know that there are going to be mistakes that are made. It just happens and I totally understand that. But, for me what separates a good restaurant from a crummy one is how they handle those mistakes. China House has miserable customer service and doesn't care about the customer. In a time that we are trying to support local I will never go back to this place. I called and asked them if they have a "fresh vegetable dish" she said she does. So I ordered it and when I got home I saw that it was very little "fresh vegetables" and 3/4 tofu?!? So I called and explained to the young lady who placed my order and told me this was the fresh vegetable dish not a tofu dish and instead of fixing it she said it was my fault and I should have said no tofu?!?! I like this place but you have to be careful what you order. The egg rolls are greasy, the spring rolls are to hard and the meals are over battered and over sauced. I can't give much of a review, as I've only been here once and we only ordered one thing to go. Don't remember what it was called, but I'd guess Schezuan Beef. The meat was cooked well (very thin strips, but surprisingly not overdone). The egg roll was fine -- they have chicken instead of shrimp, which is fine by me. Everything was OK, not offensive. But the flavor lacked something, whether that was salt or more seasoning. I'd like to go back and try something else. The staff was quiet but friendly, but the interior felt slightly run-down for the strip-mall it's in. Maybe I can increase the rating a star if I enjoy my meal even more next time. China House is by far the best Chinese food in South Lyon. The prices are decent and they are always friendly. The soup choices are scrumptious as there are about 8 different soups to choose from. First off, no substitutions with the specials. We ordered the Triple with ginger & garlic sauce & king Pao chicken with hot & sour soup. What S disappointment. No heat anywhere & the foodcwas bland. No flavor, no spice. The Triple is supposed to be equal parts chicken, beef & shrimp. It had tons of chicken, some beef and 2 pieces of shrimp in the entire dish. The Kung Pao had no spice or chili peppers even in it and the peanuts in it were stale. They tasted like they had been sitting on the counter uncovered for months. The spring roll was very greasy. The fried noodles for the hot & sour soup were stale. The hot & sour had nothing in it but mushrooms & a minimal amount of tofu. The fortune cookies were good & the food was ready at pick up so that's why I gave them 2 stars. I ordered 2 cookies & they gave me a bag of cookies & charged me for them. China House is my "go-to" when I'm craving Chinese. I've been to the other places in South Lyon, and they just have the best of everything. The Wonton Soup is the best I've ever had, as well as their sauces. There are times when I just go get the sauce and prepare all the rest at home, when I'm not feeling so lazy:P. I've tried sauces from Fortuna Inn, and it is always a little too thick and tastes like it's lacking ginger and garlic. Also, they are open to 11pm on Fridays and Saturdays, for those looking to get something other than pizza on a semi-late night. I see a lot of people choose Fortuna Inn over China House, and that is a complete mystery! Fortuna Inn seems heavily Americanized and pretty pricy for what they serve. China House is reasonably priced, with good portions, and the service is always really great! Food was actually good BUT...It was late, snowing and I left to pick up my order. I got home and after changing into pj s I realized I did not get what I had ordered at all. I think it was just a diff order? I called to tell them that and the lady was nice about it. I said so be sure to check bags so you don t give out another wrong order meaning my original order that was placed. She apologized and said next time I came in crab rangoon was on them and we hung up. I was eating what I had picked up and it was actually good. My phone rings and its a young man asking me what happened so I explain it to him and told him it was handled? He told me to bring the wrong food to him for the right food. I said no I m in my pj s, it s snowing etc...I will just eat the order I picked up. He said you don t have to bring me the food tonight you can bring it tomorrow, next wk, next month or next yr if you like. Stunned I looked at my husband and wasn t sure what to say. I said what did you say? He repeated it! I said you called me to be sarcastic? He said we are NOT in the habit of giving away free food.
